The ppi for the S2 is 217 vs the Note2's 267.
Don't take this the wrong way but it sounds like your worry was based on some sort of pre-conceived notion of what an acceptable pixel density should be as opposed to what the Note2 is like to actually use.

I believe you're right. As Portugal doesn't have the latest handsets on display (max I get is HTC Sensation, S2, Note 1), and I only got to play with the S3 once (super impressed, so fast, and screen was gorgeous) on my carrier store, I can't really have a real notion on the PPI/display factor. It seems that the Note 2 will be quite sharp, considering the S2 has a PPI of 217, and I don't really have any major problems/complaints. Another plus is that they're both Full RGB.
On a sidenote, how do you calculate PPI?

Pretty nice deal. N7100 unlocked for €514. Quite a nice price I have to say. ($666/£416) -
GSMArena quotes the pixel density of a handset's display in their specs.
That or Google 'pixel density' - the second or third link is a site that will do it for you. -

HTC is doing this over and over and over again. They don't have the sense to see a minute and a half beyond a single business decision, it seems. -

Wait....we aren't also talking about RIM in this? lol. -
Tough call, Google's email notification is not reliable either as by the time you get the alert, the device is probably gone an hour ago.
As ironic as it appears, you can always use your Android phone to keep track of when its replacement is in stock:

RIM actually seems to be taking a long-term approach, for once. BB 10 + QNX's existing applications in auto + other embedded systems.

It's not even about seeing beyond the decision, the decision itself is ridiculous and can only hurt them.
Or Motorola or Nokia...
Ah, I'd never realised 'long-term approach' was a euphemism for going bust

I picked up a Note 1. PPI on this thing isnt an issue. Everything looks great. It's pentile too.

Anybody know of a good grocery shopping app that has functionality similar to this?
> Input an item you need manually via typing say I type out "toothpaste" and it goes on the list of "stuff to buy" and you can later while in the store or after just check it off as purchased.
Next time you need to create a list and start to type "toothpaste" it should auto populate the word for you as you have used it before. This makes the creation process fast and easy as we usually buy the same things over and over and its the main reason I dont want to just use some kind of notepad like application. I want a list of things I can pick that I have put on the list before or a smart auto complete based on usage.
Another feature that would be great is like recipes. Say I create a "recipe" called grilled cheese and then it consists of cheese, and bread. If I choose "grilled cheese" on my list or type it out it will add both cheese and bread to the shopping list. This could be great for complicated recipes so you dont have to add everything manually or you can create it from your recipe list at home and have the app remember for you what you need incase you cant remember all the stuff on your own.
I can imagine what I want/need from this app perfectly and even have a UI in mind but just wonder if somebody has already made it or similar. -

Anyone know of a good case for a samsung tab 2 7in that I can use the tablet in and has big enough pouch for mifi and 2 usb cables? Currently Im using a case for a kindle fire thats OK, but the straps that hold it in arent good and one even broke making the tablet somewhat loose in the case.

Has anyone tried the Jelly Bean leak for the Note N7000?

U.S. residents still looking for the Nexus 4 might be able to get another crack at it in a few hours: Google Nexus 4 will be back at the Play store later today

:| how trollish of Google, goes back in stock when I am near broke again. :|

I wouldn't worry too much about it. 12 PM PST came and went with the same refreshing chaos and the stock discrepancies jumping between Sold Out and Shipping Soon on every refresh. For a massive web based company, I'm surprised how poorly managed the Play Store is.

After years, Apple can't really do any better with iPhone pre-orders. :/ -
From what I remember, the difference is Apple doesn't say it's out of stock... it just pushes the ship time out farther and farther, so you can still order the product... you just have to wait longer.
-
Awesome! Between the note 1 and the Note 2 is roughly a 10PPI difference + Full RGB, so it'll only be better!

Yeah, just saw on youtube. I've read all possible reviews regarding the Note 2's display, everyone praised it, just like the GSII.

Adblock Plus for Android is out and it works for apps in general, not just browsers. The only downside is that non-rooted devices running Android 3.1 or later can only block ads over WiFi, while pre-Android 3.1 devices require some manual configuration.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.adblockplus.android -
That's been fixed with the Note 2.
I had to go to downtown Dallas this morning and the Note 2 caught a healthy dose of LTE goodness. Not sure why it keeps using Kansas' server, but I'm getting the same speeds every run.
-
Holy...
Those are some mighty speeds! :O I won't get those unfortunately, if I get the Note 2, it'll be HSPA+ so I can put custom ROMs in it. -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Wireless networks use a type of mesh network. That's why they'll always use certain cities... that's where their gateway is.
Extremely impressive speeds though. -
I'm still fairly new to the android smartphone world but for some reason I have to restart my phone for it to update apps properly. It will update an app here and there but if I restart it it seems to update all the ones that need updating.

Crunchyroll is very useful... I just wish it didn't sometimes play the advert over the video I'm trying to watch. That's annoying.
On the other hand, I'm looking to get a new phone sometime soon (next couple of months). I have T-Mobile currently, and I was great where I lived when I started the contract but where I live now it's complete rubbish, no reception at all and always roaming. The only phone carriers with acceptable reception here are Verizon and USCellular. Unfortunately, Verizon will not offer me service in my zip-code. So I'm left with only one viable option which I know won't have very good reception if I move back. Why can't I get Verizon and why isn't there a CDMA-friendly Nexus 4
-
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
The reason why Nexus 4 doesn't support LTE was the battery life was already pretty awful, LTE would have exasterbated the poor battery life, as well as increase costs as LTE radio = more money. Meh I've decided never to go back to CDMA, CDMA carriers do ridiculous things and why go against the standard of the rest of the world? -
I've noticed that most apps won't check for an update until a restart.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2 -
Well I know some of them do update on occasion but when I reboot there are always quite a few that update. Like last night there had to of been at least a dozen that updated upon reboot.
-
Sadly where I live there is absolutely no GSM coverage. That's a rather strong motivation to go against the standard, unfortunately.
It's literally a big gap on the coverage map.
-
Battery life is on par with the Galaxy S3. I've been using my Nexus 4 since yesterday afternoon. Standby time is much longer compared to my S3.
The Nexus 4 has LTE. I believe it's going to be compatible with T-Mobile's upcoming LTE network.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2 -
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Right it's comparable to the S3 because it is HSPA+ while the S3 supports LTE. If the Nexus 4 had LTE support (like Verizon, Sprint if/when they actually go LTE) it would get worse battery life than the S3. -
I had the T-Mobile S3.

NOTE II loosing AOSP support? - xda-developers
This makes me wonder if I should really get the Note 2 or wait for the Exynos 5 devices AKA S4/Note 3,
But if I do get an Exynos 5 device, there'll be already Exynos 6 right next year which is a MUCH bigger improvement due to ARM A57. -
I wouldn't wait. I doubt any ARMv8 processors will be in phones before 2014.
-
Yeah... And it wouldn't be wise to buy a phone in 2013, and then have the ARMv8 SoCs released in 2014, and then only have the ability to buy a phone in 2015... So buying a phone now is safer than holding until next year.
The GNote 2 will probably be updated up to 5.x, since it's one of the best Samsung devices created (according to reviewers). I just hope devs don't leave the Note 2...
@TailGunner, you have the N7105, 4G Note 2 right? Check this out : [HOWTO] Port N7100 ROMs to I317 and N7105 - xda-developers -
Yes sir, I've been running a N7105 firmware and custom kernel on my SGH-i317 with no issues.

Anybody messed about with bluetooth 4.0 , it took me 2m20s to transfer a 16.90mb video from my Galaxy S3 to my Galaxy Note 10.1 , I also tried from my Notebook to my S3 and it took about the same, the notebooks said i was getting a transfer rate of between 60-90KBps , bluetooth 4.0 is supposed to be upto 25Mbps, i am not getting anywhere near that.

Seriously, the only legitimate reason I see for Bluetooth anymore is for wireless headphones or in-car sync systems where you can place calls over the car's speakers or sync the address book with the car.
You could probably get the file from one device to another quicker with Box or Dropbox. -

You really don't need ATK, especially on a phone as powerful as the S3. Hell, i'd argue that any phone doesnt need it.
