I really can't be bothered going to that length to get access to the Amazon market.

The free apps idea is pretty neat but I can wait for them to support the UK.
If they don't repeat their generosity over here, screw 'em.

    That's not really a surprise.
The Desire's getting Gingerbread, so it figures the Incredible will too.

IKR... The Desire, Incredible, and Nexus One are all the same phone. Just with shell variations. The Galaxy S is similar, but internal hardware (besides radios) IS different between models.

Yeah, exactly - all three are based around the same CPU, RAM, display etc.
Aside from the GSM/CDMA differences, the biggest variation is the Incredible's higher-res camera.

I wouldn't say so - they're less than £30 over here and things tend to cost the same in dollars in the US as they do in pounds over here.

This is something I mod'd for my recent JS8 ROM, but I believe it should work for any phone that can utilize LWP's.

I kinda liked the idea of the water LWP from the Nexus One, but it just seemed to busy. There were too many edges, and too much distraction from app icons. So I subbed in a wallpaper of worn river stones from Mac OS X and got rid of the falling leaves. The end product seems much easier on the eyes, IMO, and is more Zen like.

Download clockworkmod ZIP installer package here.

Thanks though. :) And about GB on the DX... I've ran it, and I'll be the first to admit, it was pretty nicely done on Moto's part, even if it DID still have blur.

I was really excited to try Firefox 4 for Android, but it's not compatible with my Samsung Intercept. :(

It's actually getting to be really annoying at this point...so many apps I've looked at have "not compatible with Samsung Intercept" on their store pages, and some apps that are compatible just don't run (like Angry Birds, which technically runs, at about one frame every 5 seconds).

For a smartphone, this thing is pretty stupid.

If its any consolation, My Droid 1 won't run it either...even though the ARM v.7 processor inside SHOULD work. People complained and Mozilla acknowledged it but decided not to figure out why...kinda annoying since they have other ARM v.7 processor phones there that are just as old yet do work.

Ah well. Any other good browsers out there? I tried Opera Mini once, I wasn't impressed. Went back to the default browser and that's what I've been using since then.

I've heard good things about Dolphin, but there's a bunch of different versions (normal, HD, Mini) to narrow down. Thoughts?

Intercept = ARM11 with a Proprietary GPU that doesn't comply with OpenGL standards. It's GPU is more like a frame-buffer than anything.

Most complex apps require ARM7 for the NEON SIMD extensions.

If you had more RAM you could run it. In it's current state FF for Android is a complete RAM hog. On my Captivate/NexS it routinely uses around 20-25Mb of RAM even when running as a background app. What happens with the OG Droid is that when FF runs out of RAM space it hangs the process... requiring a reboot or if you can wait for it, an FC dialog box. Motorola's kernel also doesn't utilize "swap" efficiently, and that's another reason.

I'll check that out. Never was a huge fan of Opera for Windows...

In the meantime, I downloaded Dolphin Mini, since I don't think the Intercept would handle the regular or HD versions very well. It's actually pretty nice. Tabs, orientation lock, "speed dial" home page, and you can minimize it or close it. It's also got a pretty neat drawn gesture thing where you can basically draw a command on your touchscreen. And it's generally pretty responsive compared to the default browser.

Whats the difference between the different Dolphin versions?

I like firefox, but it gives me keyboard issues (delayed to pop up/go away by a few seconds, doesnt go down after pressing enter like most browsers)

So i usually use Stock or Opera mobile. I'd like to give Dolphin a try though :D

Dolphin Mini is lighter than HD, HD has things like add ons. I use Dolphin HD and Miren, and am trying to like Opera Mobile as much as I like the desktop version. Really you should just download both Mini and HD and see which you like better, the lighter browsing of Mini or the more full featured HD.

Meh, I use stock app, it's been the fastest and more reliable one up to date!
What do you guys think about the new "Tiny Wings" rip-off; Dillo Hills?!
I think that really shows the difference between iOS apps and Android apps..

In other news, do any of you guys know a battery saver that is actually working? I've been trying few ones lately and all I can say is that most of them makes my battery life even worst.
Heck today played with my phone (internet browsing and games) for 2 hours and my phone's battery life went from 85% to 15% O_O
    That's not normal..

Indeed. If that option is checked, it can pull location information from whatever network (Cellular or WiFi) you're connected to. It uses cell tower ID for cellular and reverse IP lookup for WiFi to give a general location.

Well, my ROM's are all i9000 base. The best modem I've used is UGJK4. Good GPS, battery life, defaults to HSPA 850...

But then if you're using a Vibrant, I'm not quite sure. We're not using the same bands. ;)

    Nice comparison page!!

Generally, and that page backs it up, the aries based modems are going to be the best... and those are any of the xxJKx, or xxJLx for American bands. (for battery life AND decent signal and data speeds) The newer modems are fast data wise, but have horrible battery life.

    Ahh ok. :D

I have KB1 actually, but with my ROM it is listed as "Fast Data/Great Signal/Moderate Battery"

I'm fine with moderate for the rest of it :D :p

All the JK/JL ones for my phone and ROM all got Slow or Medium speed/signal, so i think ill be sticking with this one for now.

I got ~3Mbps down, i was hoping to squeeze a bit more out of it by switching to another modem :p

as long as you install a custom recovery such as the famed clockwork there is no way you could brick your phone.... plus with the galaxy s its pretty much noob proof as long as you read everything
