Can't say that I've see anything like it. My personal one is just about perfect... it has trouble with grays at lower brightness levels, just like the GS1. But other than that, I haven't seen any problems with the engineering models either.

The thing to remember with AMOLED panels is that colors directly correspond to brightness and gamma levels. They are completely different than LCD panels. See:

Why bother though? The Intercept is specifically listed as one of the few devices that are incompatible.

But you won't have the intercept forever. If you buy it now, you can download it from Amazon when you get one that IS compatible. Saves you $2.99... at some point in the future.

Oh yeah... did I mention that today's free app is Pac-Man?

The Amazon Market annoys me - by the time it arrives over here, you can be sure they'll have stopped giving away free apps.

Amazon Market needs a severe update and overhaul. Something similar to AppBrain, even if it's just the ability to filter results by free/paid or category/relevance.

You can filter results and sort by category and relevance.

*Menu -> Categories for all the categories. Alternatively you can swipe along the bar at the top to see common categories

*Refine button in search results list allows you to do the following:

    1. Sort by Relevance, bestselling, Price: low to high, Price: high to low, average customer review, and release date

    2. Show all releases, releases in the last 30 days or releases in the last 90 days

    3. filter by average customer review, 1 to 4 stars

    4. Price, from .01 to 99, 1.00 to 1.99, etc... and free

The organization and filtering options Amazon offers is it's advantage over everyone else in this game at the moment. Their experience in online shopping shows.

    Hey all,

I just got my chance to try out Google Music Beta. So far I'm enjoying the free music collection, waiting for all of my music to upload. It's been almost half an hour and only 8% of my music have been uploaded. Is this supposed to take this long? Also how is the music quality when playing on an android device?

Yea... I have 42GB of music to upload, and about a quarter of it's done so far. Mine's been going for 2 days though.

So far the quality of the streaming music is very high. I can't tell any difference in stream and local music.

Try heading to music.google.com again. I noticed that when my invite was sent was exactly the last time I visited music.google.com.

Maybe a bug in the invite system? IDK? Too much of a coincidence though, IMO.

If I had unlimited data I'd be using my phone to upload. It has 3x faster upload speed than my home internet. Download speed on the other hand, doesn't compare though.

I have another 150 songs to go here. :p The storage limit is 20,000 songs, not by file size limit. :D

    I do have unlimited data...at about 0.25Mbps down and 0.06Mbps up :p

20,000 songs is pretty generous. I've got around 8,000...I could literally overfill my 64GB iPod Touch twice before I hit the limit :D

    Hey!
Did you buy your Samsung Charge thru Amazon or VZ? My LG Touch is nearly DOA, and now I need to invest in a new phone..Android.

At Amazon, you can finally get it for $199.99 with a Family Plan renewal upgrade. VZ is still at $249.99, and they won't budge on any type of PM, or credit (yada yada).

Just wondering if everything went ok if you purchased thru Amazon. VZ was telling me it wasn't safe to do a renewal upgrade or anything with Amazon & they couldn't guarantee their services if I purchased a phone thru Amazon, Wirefly.com, etc. :(

The Charge is the one I believe I want. I played with the LG Revolution & it just has to much of a "plastic feel" to it, and a friend told me the Thunderbolt was a "Battery Vampire" and to stay away from that :(

I bought it through Amazon: $180 and no taxes :D I got all the basic plans, since I still have my AT&T plan. Also, VZ allows for unlimited tethering (ATM), so it works out well for me.

Everything went well with Amazon, mine was a new activation so maybe that has less hassle. The battery life seems ok, though I have not yet been using LTE (will do that at my new place).

I don't know if you care about tethering, Verizon apparently messed up when free tethering expires, so since this morning my Mobile Hotspot has not been working ( http://www.droidforums.net/forum/te.../151187-mobil-hotspot-stopped-working-3.html). There's a date fix in that thread but at least USB tethering works (I'm using that now).

Oh yes new line of service. Now it's $149.99 w/new line of service. Glad to hear you like it so far.

Is it true that if you miss a call/text, or have a VM mail message there is not indicator to let you know? And, do you find that bothersome? Also, did you get a protective case for it? Sorry for all the q's... :)

I am not sure how often I would tether, but it's a nice option. I am still a uber noob with the Android phones so

    The price dropped?! Arrggghhhh...

Indicator like a blinky light Blackberries have? No it doesn't have that. I didn't root the phone, so the login screen doesn't have that much info (I'm guessing rooting helps). What it does have is the notification pane on the top left which shows number of calls, messages and new emails (I believe). Windows Phone 7 has a slightly more detailed notification area.

The phone is quite bulky (or maybe I'm just too used to the Samsung Focus) so I'll have to get a new case for it. I'm looking at the otterbox wondering if those are worth it, but I'm still looking. The case probably can't be too bulky because then it won't fit in my pockets anymore...

It comes with 32GB SD card pre-installed and I think that's pretty neat.

I'm still getting used to Android, but for the casual smartphone user (if there's such a person), Windows Phone 7 actually provides the best UI experience (don't kill me android fans). iOS is next, followed by Android, which is more for geeks.

LOL. I agree with you. Android is a VERY inconsistent UI. Some apps look nice, but they don't fit in with OEM customizations, or just don't match anything... I give WP7 kudos for being so consistent.

As for the Charge... That's the phone I would buy if I were a VZW customer. Awesome phone.

Except for the battery life :p I thought the screen consumes significant power before but not as much as it actually does. LTE will drain the battery faster.

Looking at my Samsung Charge, I'm not quite sure why it's as bulky as it is. I look at my Samsung Focus, which is really slim, and I cannot image what made that large a difference. I'm thinking maybe it's the LTE module in it.

Edit: When I opened a third-party streaming music player, and went back to the home screen, the player kept streaming. I stripped naked, ran around the block screaming, "Yes! Yes! I can do other stuff at the same time as the music is playing!!" And then I hugged and kissed all my neighbors.

Ok I wasn't running around naked but you get my point...

Actually, it looks as though there'll be three versions of the Galaxy S2 now - one with an Exynos SoC, one with Tegra2 and one with the OMAP 4430.
If they're all clocked the same, the OMAP would probably give the Exynos a run for it's money.
