So the Moto Triumph has a locked bootloader. Not unexpected. I didn't expect Moto to break in tradition.
JIC... The Triumph is the new VM handset. -
So what does that mean? No rooting or custom ROM's?
-
No custom ROMs or kernels. Rooting can still be done.
With alot of work I do believe some custom ROMs can be possible (like the Atrix IIRC?) , but never kernels. And it needs the development to get to that point.
Maybe HAL can confirm but I'm pretty sure of that
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Yep. P-ROM's will be possible. (P-ROM = Pseudo ROM) But NO kernels.
Maybe at a point you'll see a second init CM7 adaptation, if the community is serious about it. OR, since it's a Snapdragon platform, somebody may be able to unlock it similar to the Sensation 4G. It all depends on how Motorola encrypted it. -

I'm really, really liking that as well. LOTS of nice, clean designs.
I like Samsung more and more... LOL. I would really like one of those for my desk though! -
I meant more for uploading screenshots to, it's an ingenious site.
I'd love one as well - get talking to your rep

Indeed! I'll see if I can pull one or two from him! -

Anyone need a Google Music invite? I have 2.

With my recent purchase of the Asus Transformer, does anyone know of a good office suite that allows you to write text and draw an image directly into the document (without having to open a separate program for drawing, saving the image and then inserting it into the document)?

Brendanmurphy Your Worst Nightmare
Unfortunately odds are they locked it with a 128bit RSA key like the Milestone ( Gsm version of the Droid ). We have been trying to crack that since day 1 with no luck. We have the P-roms with 2nd init it is really very close to the experience of CM7 you would expect on other devices.
Although I love Motorola i love My Samsung Captivate
-
What brand of screen protectors do people use?
-
Brendanmurphy Your Worst Nightmare
Steinheil From SGP is the only protector i trust -
None, although once I buy my next phone, I'll get one.
This headphone jack thing sucks...I'm considering picking up a bluetooth headphone set just so I can listen to music while sleeping.
I've heard that they suck though so....suggestions?

As far as Bluetooth headsets go, these are the only ones I would get...
Amazon.com: Sony DRBT50 Stereo Bluetooth Headset: Electronics
They're a bit more pricy than the ones you linked, but they sound better by about 10 fold. Plus they don't loose connection that easy. -
God I hate ATT customer service, and ignorant customer service reps in general.
My sister's captivate has been having GPS issues and freezing and restarting issues from day one. Got a little bit better with the 2.2 update, but clearly the phone was defective.
Finally got fed up with it and had the time to call for her, so I called ATT customer support. For the freezing issue the ATT rep said it was because a task killer was not being used, she informed me that she used a task killer all the time... major facepalm.
Next, for GPS she wanted to troubleshoot by doing a complete wipe, even though I had already wiped it multiple times and installed android 2.2 since the phone came with 2.1. I told her this was absurd and did not want to waste time, and clearly the phone was defective-- it is a known issue with early hardware revisions of the captivate.
So she told me no warranty exchange because she resolved the freezing issue by telling me to use a task killer (facepalm again) and that the GPS wasn't covered under warranty. So frustrated.
Going to try calling samsung tomorrow, hopefully they are not retarded. -
I really like clarivue.
-
interesting. the fact that they go over one's head is also a nice touch.
i might end up getting this though: Amazon.com: Jabra CLIPPER Bluetooth Stereo Headset: Cell Phones & Accessories
i can use my own headphones with it.

Let me know if you have more trouble.
What hardware revision does she have now? I'm guessing 1008? I'm a VERY lucky 1007 owner. Mine can hit 1.7GHz with no issues, and GPS actually works... The 1008 has recovery issues, GPS problems, and several other issues. The 1008 also has a different S-AMOLED panel production date with a much bluer tint. I believe 1010 has similar issues.
That's actually a really nice idea! I wonder what kinds of headphones it can push? -
It's all relative.
If sound quality is your over-riding concern, then don't use bluetooth. Then again, if it was your over-riding concern, you'd be using a dedicated DAP and some sort of portable headphone amp...
Ok, so why do each of you recommend those particular brands?
Also, what are they like? Do they have that horrible tacky feel to them like the Invisible Shield protectors? -
I have pretty cheap phillps headphones so I'm sure they'll work haha.
Not much about sound quality, more the whole disconnecting thing.
-
I have an SE MBS100 bluetooth speaker and a Sony A829 bluetooth-enabled DAP, never experienced any disconnection issues.
-
Sorry to double-post but a couple of questions.
Any more recommendations for brands of screen protector?
I'm looking for one for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 that won't feel horrible and tacky and won't affect the quality of the screen.
Secondly, anyone aware of any customisable text-based missed calls/unread messages widgets - something similar to minimalistic text. -
Megacharge Custom User Title
And can anyone recommend a nice "thin" protector case for the SGS2? The phone is incredibly thin and I don't want to add too much bulk to it, but at the same time, I want some level of quality protection and good looks.
-
I like clarivue because it is a pretty thin screen protector with absolutely no loss in visual clairty. Also, the surface feels pretty much exactly like the glass surface on my nexus one. I also noticed that compared to my old steinhell screen protector, it seems a lot more durable.
http://www.clarivue.com/samsung-galaxy-tab-10.1-screen-protector.html
If you do go clarivue, stick with ultra-clear.
You won't have to worry about that terrible tacky feel/ orange peel with clarivue because it is a static cling screen protector. -

^Iain, you have a knack for those... I have to admit. That's a very nice design. Very clean.

Those are truly very nice! Where can I grab them? Can I simply save the img to my GS2?Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015

Also, what's better : Touchwiz, Go Launcher Ex or ADW.Launcher? And what are the best themes too?
-
I personally prefer Launcher Pro. As for themes, that's entirely a matter of personal preference. Nobody else can pick what you like for you.
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
I use the Google standard Launcher2. It's simple but buttery smooth.
-
Will try both. I'm really enjoying Go Launcher with Honeycomb theme!
-
Thanks
You can't.
At the very least you'd need WidgetLocker which is a paid-for app but the sliders are custom ones made by myself and I only bodged them together last night, they're not available from anywhere else.
Maybe, if I get them tweaked 'til I'm happy with them, I'll release them but for now they only exist on my phone.
Sorry.
edit: also, it's all designed to fit the Arc's screen resolution, which is different to the Galaxy S2's.
I don't own a phone with a standard WVGA screen, just FWVGA, so I couldn't really make it for the Galaxy S2 anyway, I'd have no way of checking it fitted together properly. -
Oh, ok.
In Launcher pro, should I have the memory preset on high or not?
Also, is there a way to change launcherpro's app drawer? I really like Go Launcher's app drawer. -
Thanks.
I think I'm going to go for that one - the free shipping swung it in the end, a lot of other places charge nearly as much as the protector itself to send it to the UK. -
Nokia RM-670 screen grabs reveal Symbian Belle in all her glory -- Engadget Mobile
Looks like a crap Android homescreen to me. -
I'm a sucker for TouchWiz but Mastershroom's right...personal preference and all that.
It's ok...ish nothing super revolutionary, makes sense though. -

Ain't it beautiful?! WiFi was never turned off, and GPS was used occasionally.

That with the galaxy s2 Hal?

Just like RIM stole HP/Palm's cards, Apple and Nokia are stealing Samsung/Android's notification bar.

Check the edit.

LOL. Aren't your captions backwards, or are you playing a Jedi mind trick? Is Symbian Belle really the Droid we're looking for?! -
I am so buying a Symbian phone tomorrow...
The resemblance is uncanny. Whats the bet that someone on xda will make a Symbian Belle notification area theme soon? -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
It's almost like Rule 34. There will be an Android theme based on it...
