Depends entirely on where in Canada.

Those prices stick you to a 3 year contract with horrible fees
(at least compared to US or EU)
Bell is one letter away from HELL D:
And he wouldn't HAVE to learn French, but it'd definitely help...a lot
-
A job and you get to move to Canada - win-win!
-
Since when is moving to Canada "win"?
Not that I don't like it here but I thought most USers liked their own country vs ours XD
-
Ah. So, let's say, Toronto, would you need French? I know you need in Ottawa, but not sure in Toronto.
-
You get to worship the royal family, what more could one wish for?
-
In Ottawa you would more than in Toronto. Canada is technically a bilingual country and Ottawa is the capital so all functionary workers there are required to be bilingual.
Toronto however is deep in Ontario which is an English province (contrary to popular belief, most of Canada isn't French
) so you wouldn't need a shred of French there.
Bell/BCE is based in Quebec though(the biggest French province in Canada) so French would most likely help. -
I see... But I still don't understand, even after having being explained, the hate towards Canada?
On a sidenote, Dolphin Browser HD is the best! -
What hate?
On a sidenote I have been neglecting my phone after I bought the Touchpad.
But the updated Market (with +1) has some nice performance improvements, at least different menus loads alot quicker on my phone
-

Well, my first choice would be Rogers, but I haven't received any calls from them... yet.
Hmm... and I know _no_ French. Like, none at all. LOL. -
Boo!
Get out.
I have to admit I have been looking to see if I can find a TouchPad because I'm curious as to what they're like.
It's probably a good thing that I couldn't find one because I have no need for it. -
Yes, the Market was updated a while ago, and it's much better vs the older ( tested wirh my mother's X10 mini )
-
Hmm, I still don't have the new market...
A Bruce Willis/5th Element situation?
-
C'est impossible!
Je pensais que tu parlais français!
lol jk
I think it's wrong, could someone correct it? My french's rusty since I don't speak it for 3 months
-
Robbers (Rogers) is more acceptable.
How about Telus?
Hah, I have no need for it either, but at $99 it was hard to turn down. I have been using it alot because it's actually very enjoyable to use. Less painful than Honeycomb. ~_~
Not that update, today's update.
It adds +1 button and a couple of other things. The update of the update.
-
Yeah but given I have a perfectly functional Android tablet, I have even less use for one.
-
O_O
UPDATECEPTION!
What is the button that was added? Over here, it's just the same as yesterday... -
I'm sure you'll find something you like! Hopefully you'll be treated better too
-
I like Pickles...
Ops wrong thread. ABORT.
Anyway, I just bought the worlds cheapest phone, to fiddle around with of course. I bought it for $30 bucks brand new. Pretty decent. Time for SMASHY SMASHY. I need to put LEDS into the phone. So it will look like a $780 dollar phone. -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
I'll look into Telus! Thanks!
Canadian carriers are still somewhat of a mystery to me...
Seeing as how I don't speak Canadian and all.
Hopefully. Either way it's looking like I'll end up having to move.
Tell your reasoning to Samsung. They obviously need to be taught how to use notification LED's in their superphones that should have one. Ugh. -
I might be a Telus customer.
And yes it has taken me 3 years to master the language of Canadia.Klink
-

Soon I might be a network engineer, again.
What region is Telus most active in?
Sidenote: The Captivate has been effectively turned into a S5PC110 dev board, complete with community written bootloaders soon to come. This means that ANY OS is game now. WP7, iOS, MeeGo.... you name it. If it can run on ARM, it can run on the Captivate.
Hello World was accomplished today at 5:10PM CST.

A lot of places.
Except for maybe the frozen lands in the north and the centre.........lol The have a bigger cable tv presence in the west I know that, but their phone stuff is pretty much every where. Doesn't quite have the market share of (hell) bell and robbers but they are definitely improving, their stores are generally much nicer imo.
I need swift keys on this TouchPad ........
Good site to pay attention to in terms of Canadian (consumer) mobile news.

Do I see only a 1500 mAh battery on the non-keyboard GS2 variant?
-
It'd be easy to find a 1750mAh battery to buy and replace it with.
-
Too much want.
DL'ing at the moment.Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
HAL, I have a pretty big problem
I've updated the camera firmware with the update from Samsung Apps, and I now face a problem : pink centre when aiming at white walls. How can I revert to the stock firmware?
EDIT : The pink centre IS EVERYWHERE!

Verizon won't have a Galaxy S II variant, WSJ says, citing anonymous sources | Android Central
Verizon.....you truly are clueless aren't you....absolutely clueless.
First. They pretty much nearly kill the HTC Merge. Now they've killed this.
At least they killed it BEFORE RUNNING ADS FOR IT IN THE FREAKING NY Times PAPER, a'la Merge
UGH, Too bad I'm stuck with them like glue, or I'd be bailing now.
If I needed to get a phone tomorrow, which would be the best on VZW out of these three?:
Droid 3, Droid Charge, Samsung Stratosphere (epic 4g but with lte instead)
There's the nexus prime but who knows how long that'll be, I'd be waiting until January just for the announcement of it -
How does the 5.1ch on the Samsung Captivate work on standard Stereo earphones? I heard it's suppose to be "virtual surround", but it sounds like they just upped the treble. I've tried this on my Philips SBC HP250 headphones and it sounds different, but I still can't tell on how it works.
-
Well, are they?
You mention it yourself, the potentially game-changing Nexus Prime is en route, if it's announced before the Galaxy S2 reaches the US, is there any point in even trying to launch it over there? -
But the only "game-changing" things will be the HD screen, the OMAP and ICS?
Will it have LTE or 4G? -
That screen alone is game-changing IMO.
Though Ice Cream Sandwich is definitely interesting too.
But, simply put, if by the time the Galaxy S2 reaches the US there are already better phones out there, who cares about the Galaxy S2 any more? -
What screen will it be? I know it's 1280x720, but what type?
EDIT : It's PenTile. Woah, it's pretty nice!
You made me sad with that statement...
-
Its rumored to reach the US on Sept 9th first, so thats not too far from now and there wont be any better phones for a few months or more.
-
And the Nexus Prime is rumoured to be arriving September or October.
Not to mention, the leaked Samsung roadmap which shows a couple of handsets with 720HD screens. -
Ah ok, I thought it was more like December/January.
-
Yes but Verizon's notoriously into locked down devices. The OG Droid was a aberration out of desperation for relevancy by Motorola and Verizon after iPhone 2G. They literally bent over and did anything Google wanted them to.
When Nexus One time rolled around, Verizon said yes, then realized they were going to do the Droid Incredible that they could control every inch over, so they passed on it.
I know things look good for a VZW nexus release, but there's always a nagging feeling. That and my phone's not long for this world and I was banking on upgrading right away. I also wanted TouchWiz 4 which would never ever be on a Nexus.
I also heard December/January for an announcement...that's a long time for me to wait...
EDIT: I'm seeing what step means now, yeah October.
-
Also, according to BGR, whilst Verizon won't be getting a 'Galaxy S2 handset', they'll be getting something similar.
To be honest, it just sounds like marketing crap. -
Ah, so it could easily be like the continuum or infuse or hell, even the charge: All are technically Galaxy S phones but not branded as such (the continuum is..but its so wacky with the dual screen thing...)
-
Yeah, maybe.
I mean, when the original Galaxy S 'family' included the Epic 4G which was markedly different to every other handset, it pretty much proves that it's all just marketing bluster. -
Why is my phone telling that my videos are .3gpp, and my PC is telling .MP4?
Which one is the true? -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
If I'm not mistaken, 3GPP is a container with MP4 video and some type of audio... usually AAC or AMR. -
Ah, that makes sense, because I'm sure the audio format is AAC.
Also, in your GS2, do you have a pink center on the camera? -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Can't say I do... is this a sudden thing? Your beach pictures looked nice... -
Yes, they did. But I updated my camera firmware with the latest ( available at Samsung Apps ), and now I get this weird ping thing when I aim at white or grey stuff. I'll demo it, will upload in a sec.
Completely white wall w/ flash.
Earlier today was a little worse for some reason. -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
See, that's why I really don't like the "Samsung Apps". I don't include it in any of my custom ROM's on the Galaxy S, and I deleted the APK from my GS2 a while back...
To reset the camera firmware, I'm not sure if there _is_ a solution short of reflashing. When a camera update gets installed, it rewrites several files... libcamera.so, libcameraclient.so, CameraFirmware.apk, and Camera.apk. There is no backup made of the previous apk/libs, and uninstalling the "update" won't do anything.
Is it only on pictures with the flash? -
It's there without flash, but it's barely noticeable.
I'm not sure, but I think I had that before. I just goggled, and apparently lots of other GS2 owners have that issue...
New Camera Firmware Update Now- 27th May 2011 [APK HERE] [POST YOUR FW VERSIONS] - xda-developers I think this is the one that was on Samsung Apps.
Would it be possible, if you don't have that problem, you to upload those camera files?
