I can upload them, but you won't be able to do anything with them unless you're rooted... or have CWM recovery. /system is a protected area for non-rooted phones.

Damn it, if it wasn't for the warranty, I would already have rooted AND Exynos Extreme... CWM recovery will need rooting, right?
Just cleaned the lenses, and the pink spot is nearly gone w/flash?
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Yep, CWM needs root.
With the flash off do you see any pink? -
Yep. Here's the pic :
( Ezio is just an extra lol, that was just a good place to picture
)
Also, don't you think the quality is kind of, ehmm, louzy, when compared to those beach pictures? I'll do some testing tomorrow. -
Take a look at this, HAL :
Party/indoors mode. Now there's red/pink and blue... -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Interesting. Very interesting.
-
Can you test it yourself too, please? Completely white wall, normal-low light. W/ amd w/o flash. Maybe it is a common problem in GS2's. If it's software related, I might root just for this. But then, could you provide me a kernel that disables the yellow "!" sign at boot?
-
Mmm. This is odd. The problem only exists in normal-low light conditions ( indoors ), but when I go to the street and picture a white wall, no more pink spot?
My dad also has this problem with his HTC HD mini... -

Is there any program that I can use to directly manage and sync music with my Android 2.3 phone? It'd be great if I could create playlists on the computer and sync my stuff.
-
As long as they get something similar, I'll be happy. Preferably LTE/4G capable too.
-
Just bought a Samsung Infuse 4G and put Infused v1.5.3 on it on my second attempt (first attempt failed, forgot file permissions on e3 recovery). Seems OK, better than stock, although I have no idea how to do anything on Andorid yet, to be honest. Any tips, tricks, suggestions, or observations?
-
Well, as other posters have said, http://forum.xda-developers.com is going to be your best friend. Choose the ROM at your liking.
This is what Android is about : putting things as YOU like
I would recommend you download Battery Indicator, update google maps, youtube, get Google Earth, Angry Birds... Just browse the market
-
Yep, WMP. When you connect your phone to the PC, just choose to enable Mass Storage Mode when the screen appears on the phone itself.
There's also DoubleTwist -
Well, now we know why there's no Galaxy S2 in the US - God doesn't want it
-
What is your guys' favorite web browser?
I'm liking Dolphin HD so far... -
Dolphin's a little slow for me... Stock is OK, but after stock, comes Opera Mobile IMO.
-
Galaxy S II LTE and Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE announced, set to debut at IFA - Engadget
Both have LTE added, both have had their CPUs bumped to 1.5GHz and the Galaxy S2 has had it's screen size increased to 4.5". -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
That or Firefox. I like Firefox because it sometimes works on more sites, where the others might have problems. -
Should I wait on the Samsung Galaxy S 2? Best Buy has a 30-day no-questions-asked return policy on my Infuse...
Do you think I'd be able to get it in ~30 days? -
wait until tomorrow and there should be official dates on when itll be available on what carriers
-
Oh, so it's tomorrow? Mmm, gotta update myself
Oh yes, you should
I dropped Firefox because it doesn't want to play flash videos, like on youtube. -
There is a youtube app for that
-
Some videos aren't played on mobile, and flash is flawless on GS2
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Videos that aren't available in the YouTube app really shouldn't be available in the browser...
They never work here, I know that. -
What do you mean?
For example : Frank Sinatra - The GodFather - YouTube
That one didn't appear in YT app searches nor in YT mobile browser. But is flawless in desktop version. -
Anyone here use ADW EX with the categories set-up?
-
I use ADW EX, but what categories?
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
I believe he's talking about where you swipe left/right on the app drawer. -

My favorite browser is Dolphin Mini, I tried Dolphin HD but it doesn't work as well unless you have a huge screen.
-
If my phone had more RAM i'd use Opera more, it doesn't though so I use the default browser.
-
All those Americans out there, we have to wait one more day on that press conference. Samsung pushed it back due to hurricane Irene.
-
The US carriers/ Samsung really screwed this one up IMO. I would have jumped on this if it was released by july, but now the next Nexus is just around the corner.
-
meh, As long as it'll last me through my next two years (would help if U.S. carriers got the 1.5 GHz chip) then I'll still get it. I really need an upgrade.
-
Annoyingly my phone has decided that it doesn't want to read my microSD card.
Luckily the previous custom ROM is still installed so I can log in and see if it's a clockwork mod problem, an android problem, or if my card finally bit the dust.
I wanted to change roms and flash a new kernel...not gonna happen it looks like.
EDIT: well Music sees the songs....so it's not android...i'll try reinstalling clockwork mod. -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
If Android can see your music, your card and hardware are fine.
Can you not see it in recovery or something? I've compiled my own CWM for the Atrix and the external is always seen, just not the internal. It's just a simple change though... Just flash a different CWM.
EDIT: I'm not familiar with the Milestone hardware though, so it may not be so simple. I know on the GS2 and Atrix, CWM recovery is in it's own separate partition and is never touched unless you change it yourself, or with Fastboot with the Atrix. On my Captivate/Infuse it's a part of the kernel. -
I just have one small, quick questin for you, HAL.
Is Dungeon Hunter 2 HD a heavy game? Because my GS2 gets some slowdowns ( to 20-30 FPS? )? Is it that heavy that the best GPU on the market can't handle? -
Yeah, Jason's right - I'm talking about the ability to split your app drawer into user-defined categories.
On some of the ADW spin-offs, like VTL, you can hide the 'ALL' category if you're using your own ones but I can't seem to find that option in ADW EX, so I was just trying to find out if I'd made a mistake or something...
Mali 400 isn't the best GPU though, which is why HAL has said he'd jump all over a Galaxy S2 with an OMAP CPU.Phistachio said: ↑Is Dungeon Hunter 2 HD a heavy game? Yes, I know. I said on the market, at the moment the mali is the best, EXCEPT the Kal El, OMAP 4 and 5.Step666 said: ↑Yeah, Jason's right - I'm talking about the ability to split your app drawer into user-defined categories.

The Optimus 3D and LG Thrill 4G both uses OMAP 4 CPUs, as well as the Droid 3 I think.

But the Droid 3 is TBR, right? -
I'm not 100% certain, CDMA handsets aren't my area of expertise but I think it's already been released.

Samsung Galaxy 3D Looks Solid Against HTC EVO 3D and LG Thrill 4G - International Business Times Interesting... It's pretty much like a 3D GSII.
The OMAP 4 has a SGX540? Well damn, it's almost the strength of the PS Vita!
( it has the SGX540 MP4+ ). But the CPU is weaker by 200Mhz?

( it should be from all those leaks ).

I've got to admit, tho, my GSII gets a little bit slower when there are 7 games open
-
Gotta close some of those games after you're done!

Yea, like Iain said, the Mali 400 isn't really all that powerful. It's area of expertise is 2D rendering... that's why Flash and the Android UI are so smooth. The OMAP 4 with the SGX540 can easily outdo it. The original Galaxy S can keep up with the graphics on the GS2... it's just the CPU apes the GS1.Phistachio said: ↑I just have one small, quick questin for you, HAL.

I'll believe it when I see it from VZW... lol. I still think it's ignorant that they publicly said that they had a "competitive lineup". I see. So the PS Vita is pretty much (in a simple way to put things) an OMAP 4 with a much better CPU and 4 more GPU cores? If so, that means it's more worthy to get a Prime than a PS Vita, haha.
But even then, right now, if we look at benches, we can see that it's the most powerful, at the moment. -
To be fair, they said they have an 'extensive' line-up.H.A.L. 9000 said: ↑I'll believe it when I see it from VZW... lol. I still think it's ignorant that they publicly said that they had a "competitive lineup". The Droid 3 is the best they have...

And even before the Nexus Prime rumour, a lot of the sources saying that Verizon won't have a Galaxy S2 did say they'll be launching a 'comparable device' instead - which could even mean they launch a handset with the same specs that simply isn't branded 'Galaxy S2'.
Verizon are acutely aware of how big Android is, I don't think they'd pass up a Galaxy S2 unless they had something up their sleeve.
