I was speaking to your debugging and solutions for curing a slow iPhone, much more involved than your regular routine.
It is nice to know you need to know nothing to operate an iPhone after all.![]()

I had to hard reset once now its on Beta 12.1 with 4-5 days of battery. Although there are UI bugs though.hmscott likes this. -
Why are you surprised it's Chinese?!? The iPhone is made in China! That's the source of the iPhone clones as well.Vasudev likes this. -

I've never had any of my iphones slow down over time, so long as I haven't updated the firmware beyond 2 iterations. iOS 12 is the exception here as it really was a bugfix and performance fix for the horrendous iOS 11. my 4S is blazing fast on iOS 6, my SE is blazing fast on iOS 12, my 8 Plus is blazing fast on iOS 12. Where I think apple should be held criminally responsible is making it impossible to downgrade to lower firmwares where the phone really performed best. iPhone 5S really should return to iOS 9, iphone 4S on ios 9 was beyond tragic, but it flies on iOS 6, etc. I try to take good care of my OS so I never have to restore and be FORCED to "upgrade" to a new firmware

I think it was the iPhone 5 with wonky digitizer - went through 2 phones with the same "a little off" touch vs selection, and haven't bothered to worry about it again.
Every time I get an iPad to try to watch my Apple sequestered content I get sick watching the odd black bars or chopped off video full screen - as compared to my other Android tablets - and end up returning the iPad. It's been a while since I've bothered trying.
I keep hoping Apple will stop trying to be "cute" and deliver well thought out functional hardware instead of set pieces for posers. A real aspect ratio with control for full resolution playback without chopped video. Real performance instead of heat / power limited enclosures.
IDK, I haven't given up hope yet, but it sure is taking a long time.
The iPhone XS Max Is Great. Don't Buy It.

This is my iPhone XS Max review. I used the iPhone XS Max as my personal (exclusive) device for roughly 3 weeks. The iPhone XS Max is a great smartphone, I don't think it's a great value.
I'm Switching To The Google Pixel 3 XL...

Last Year’s iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus & iPhone X Will Get CPU Throttling Feature, According to Apple’s Support Page
“Starting with iOS 12.1, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X include this feature, but performance management may be less noticeable due to their more advanced hardware and software design.” -

It is in the battery section of IOS, there is a switch to turn throttling off. Go have a look.

Dimmer outlook for new model contrasts with extra orders for older versions.
TAIPEI -- Apple has signaled disappointing demand for the new iPhone XR, telling its top smartphone assemblers Foxconn and Pegatron to halt plans for additional production lines dedicated to the relatively cost-effective model that hit shelves in late October, sources say.
"The chance for Apple to revise upward its production for iPhone XR and iPhone XS during this Christmas holiday season is very thin, given the forecast provided by the company and our supply chains check," Pu said. Demand for the most premium iPhone XS Max is only slightly better than that for the other two new models, the analyst said. -

the Xr is supposed to replace the 8. NOT the se. But I do agree it's over priced. As is every apple product.

NO...apple says it's their "least expensive" NOT budget. HUGE difference. Spot on analogy.

Xr is still their budget model in my and many others eyes. And they offer it only with maxed 256GB storage to let it look like a cheap buy

Just your opinion. That does not make it a fact. Budget phones are plastic and slow.

Today mom complained that brightness wasn't working and I was skimming through every iOS settings after I clean install and restored only some apps and photos. I found some stupid double entries for Auto brightness in iOS 12.1
I don't what to say!hmscott likes this. -
I don't see a problem with the auto-brightness toggle bring found in two separate places in settings.

The iPhone 8/8Plus are better bang for the buck than the XS/XR. Change my mind.

“
The higher-than-expected iPhone 8 demand, which Apple has not confirmed, would suggest that consumers are hungry for affordable, smaller iPhones. The XR is the cheapest in the X-series, but costs $749 — far from a budget product — and has a larger form factor (5.94 inches x 2.98 inches) than the smaller size (5.45 inches by 2.65 inches) people who had iPhone 6, 6S, 7, and 8 phone experienced.
To many people, that half-inch of height makes a real difference, and had already put up with unsolicited size hikes. To get a phone that keeps the sub-5.5-inch size, one must buy an iPhone Xs for $999, or stay with the older iPhone 8 model, which costs $599.
With a $400 price difference for people who want to stay with a smaller device, it’s no surprise the iPhone 8 has demand, especially considering the X-series’ features are not a large departure. Besides design language and a few small camera changes, the biggest difference is FaceID unlocking. For plenty of people, that’s just not enough.
In a recent note from Goldman Sachs, analysts noted that pricing may have become a real issue. “The laboratory of the market now points to Apple being at the limit of their price premium for the iPhone,” they wrote. “In our experience with mobile phones, when pricing power is lost, consumer technology companies tend to either lose margins or market share or both.”
Apple did not respond to a request for comment”
I gave Apple the formula for success, literally wrote them what they need to do for a proper iPhone SE successor. Of course they ignored, tried to jack up prices, demand has dropped, and now they won’t even release iPhone sales figures any longer. Not everybody wants a huge phone, not everybody wants to spend 1000$ on a phone. 750$ is still not “budget”. Apple doesn’t give a damn, I truly hope this starts their decline -
I suspect that unexpected demand for the iPhone 8 versus the iPhone XR has less to do with size (proponents of small phones are vocal, but they're a very small percentage) and more to do with the home button. A lot of non-tech-people really do prefer the older, simpler iOS interface based around a physical home button, as opposed to swipe gestures.

The most valuable company in the world has suffered in the last two months and has lost more than 25 percent of its market capitalization. Thus, Microsoft comes as the biggest competitor within reach to overtake the giant.

Bad sales figures: iPhone X is to be produced again Notebookcheck.com
After the sales of the iPhone Xs and Xr for Apple were quite disappointing, the company apparently plans to restart the production of the iPhone X.
According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Apple plans to have the iPhone iPhone X re-produced. Thus, the group with the Apple logo apparently to respond to the surprisingly weak sales figures of the new iPhone models Xs and Xr . The new production would have some advantages for Apple. So could the older iPhone X produce significantly cheaper today, than the new iPhone models. Furthermore, Apple probably also has purchase agreements on OLED displays with Samsung, which can not be sufficiently served due to the poor demand for the new models. That could be resolved with a new edition of the iPhone X probably synonymous.

Apple planning to cut iPhone XR price in Japan and restart iPhone X production Notebookcheck.net
Apple is looking to enhance subsidies to Japanese carriers in order to boost sales of iPhone XR in the region, according to sources familiar with the matter. Apple is also expected to resume iPhone X production, partly to boost margins and partly due to the fact that Apple needs to buy the contracted number of OLED panels from Samsung SDI Co., given that the production of iPhone XS variants has been scaled down due to low market demand.
I'm sure the investors is still happy and that Apple CEO Cook will continue Justifies Premium iPhone prices until he being green in the face. As I said in older post (+2 months ago)... No trees grow to heaven. A backlash may come. The Q is when

The stock is falling because there is nothing compelling from apple anymore. Just rehashing the same crap over and over. Really, my iPhone 8 is the same phone as my 6s minus the headphone jack and plus wireless charging. tit for tat there. I got the 8 because the wife gets a great deal. Other than that I would have been happy with replacing the battery in my 6s and calling it a day.
