All of the above true, this thing should be flying. I really dont think the sli is working well, ive seen benchmark sites with these cards, and its usually quite good. Also the Bios sucks in our systems, cant do anything. I dont want to overclock, but hate the fact that the processor runs at 6x multiplyer most of the time, and not sure about the vid, the 9800gts sli.
-
Hmm, don't know what to say... Have you checked your P.M, I send you a message ?

Yes i did, ty, not sure if hes on much, but we will see lol.
What CPU couldi put in this if i ugraded?
I also think a lot of the problem is the crappy driver support from Toshiba.
Id love to find a modded bios that unlocks this thing lol -
lol
If you want to upgrade CPU go for Quad core. I have an T9600 at 2,80Ghz and I want to change to quad too. At big games, my laptop fail too.
Far as I know; QX9300 is the most heaviest thing you can go for
But, don't for get that this CPU will make more heat. You will not have much room for Overclock.

Most of x300/305 support upgrade, hoope your motherboard do too. Ask Dude55 before buying any thing

Hi Tunay
I get just under 10k in 3d Mark 06 and over 5K in vantage using the toshiba drivers which isn't bad. But the performance on games like Dawn of War 2 isn't that great and like i said before they are quite alot of glitching every few seconds using them toshiba drivers. Also for dual sli the score really should be much beter...unless the CPU is bottlenecking it. So maybe an upgrade to QX9300 in future, not now though as theyre way too expensive.
The official 185.81 driivers, it says that it doesn't support X305-Q706, just use a modded inf? Have you tried it yet Tunay? And does it support both 9400m and the dual 9800m?
More interested in 179.67 with physx Tomcom is using but wondering if Hybrid is supported in them drivers. -
Hi rictorious
Yes, I have tried those drivers. I downloaded them from nVidia. No problems those gives me best performance at games.
I still can't break my own score at 3dMark06
But I have only one 9800M GTX, so I have no experience about 9400m and 9800m at SLI (if they are
)
I don't needed to use a modded inf, just downloaded them and installed. -
Ah, ok didn't notice you got a single gtx, don't think the offical ones would work on my setup, thanks for your help.
-
Well with a little playing around with drivers im here now. By using the Dox drivers, they ended up failing, so then i used a midified inf from laptop2go, and they isntalled this time (latest laptop drivers just released)
3DMark Score P7871
CPU Score 17303
Graphics Score 6660
So much better CPU scores now, very weird lol -
I can't even think 2x 9800M GTX 1GB SLI in my computer
That is 2Gb of grapich card
Well maybe after some 10 years I got one of them
Correct me if am wrong but this is 3DMark Vantage isin't it?
Anyway I download 3DMark Vantage now to take a test. It would be very cool if you can take 3DMark06 too
http://www.futuremark.com/benchmarks/3dmark06/download/ -
3DMark06 Score 10370 3DMarks
Im going to reboot and run it clean this time. -
:/
You have GPUs in SLI and Kingston HyperX ddr3 at 5-5-5-15 + OCZ vertex 120 gig.
I have single 9800M GTX and 4,096 MB DDR3 RAM 1066 MHz 7-6-6-15 + WD320GB SB 16MB Cache 7200 RPM
Many says that SLI scores better then single ect.
I think you need higher score
Maybe our CPU is making diffrence ?
:/
And I bump this one here;
-
If i upgraded the CPU would a X9100 be a better option than QX9300 for gaming?
-
There is a bit diffrence between they,
QX9300 has 12MB of shared L2 cache and a 1066MHz Front Side Bus. Achieving Clock speeds of up to 2.53GHz
QX9100 has 6MB of shared L2 Advanced and 1066MHz Front Side Bus. Achieving Clock speeds of up to 3.06GHz
So, QX9100 has higher clock speed, but QX9300 has 12 MB Cache.
So if the game is based on clock speed QX9100 performs better. If Cache counts QX9300 will not blast but perform better
But again overall performance QX9300 will be better I think. I can't go longer then this or my brain will explode
If it is not huge diffrence between price and your budget is good go for QX9300. If I upgrade I will go for QX9300
Any other thoughts about this ??? Dude55
What type of games do you play?
GTA IV ? (First game who uses all cores in quad-processor
Take a look at YouTube...)
-
Been playing DoW2 and thats about it for now. Would probably want to get COD5 Crysis etc as well later. Not really big into GTA i have it for the console but i can understand what you mean asnd future games would probably start using all 4 cores more effectively so probably look to buy a QX9300 when i upgrade...though its going to be a while cause theyre quite expensive!
Tried 179.67 drivers and ran 3d mark twice both times blue screen before making it to the end! Saying that DoW hasn't crashed once and been playing that frequently. -
Yes they are very expencive. Waiting for a price cut too
I have no exprience about 179.67, but when I try new frequencies and the 3DMark06 Crash (driver or bluscreen) I try to get to another frequencies.
I have downloaded Win7 form Microsoft now, Going to install a second slow a-s HDD (5400rpm) tomorrow and try it out. If I don't get any problems with drivers ect. I'm going to install it on 7200rpm HDD. But I have two tests friday, English presentation next week
Lot of school work to do
But hopefully I will be here
I will also run 3dMark06 and 3DMarkVantage tomorrow maybe (if I got time), on Vista™ HomePremium x64 and Windows Seven x64... So we can see, maybe it makes diffrence...
Dude55: Do you think Auslogics BoostSpeed and MemSet support Win7 ? -
Already on ebay qx9300 is around $400 us, wonder if my bios supports this?
Any ideas anyone?

QX9300 vs QX9100 Thread
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=346449 -
Yes perfectly.
Also I just loaded windows 7 rc and got the hybrid sli working np and all other drivers are in nice. Again i have the nvidia chipset -
if I do not remember wrong, the bios support QX9300. But get someone to confirm it.
And don't forget that we have diffrent models. -
I have downloaded it but can't install, becouse I have no blank DvD's left
Can't burn it... -
Hi tomcom, i tried them drivers but they kept crashing so im sticking to Toshiba ones...guh!
-
sorry to bother again guys, but im still having the 2minutes wait time for the "please wait"
it just happened all of a sudden,it wasnt like that b4..
2minutes is a very loing time, on my other laptop it took like 4 seconds...
no viruses...
ummm i have 106 GB free memory left...
i havnt installed programs or anything...
and to re install windows vista is going to be a problem cause the cds are not with me... -
You can download Vista from internet, and use Product key on underside of your laptop. That will work fine, download the lastest drivers from Toshibas side and install. Like I said before, leave drivers like Tempro (something like this) and Toshiba face registration system. Those slow bootup very much. I do not use them, no problems. Feel free to ask if you need more help about this...
-
is there any other way?
cause im in lebanon right now, and im on a dial up connection...veryy slow!!
and i dont know what tempro is
-
Tempro is one kind of driver. But I have never found out what it actually does. So I leaved it out and my laptop boots up much faster. And the face registration system starting up some services too, this effect your boot time.
The other way is to borrow an Vista cd (High recomended 64-Bit).
What kind of HDD do you have ? 5400rpm or 7200rpm ?
Ah I know dial up connection
I have also used it before when I was at holiday
-
i have 7200...
its sooo annoying, but y didnt it do this the first time i turned my laptop...i must have done something? -
Would someone be able to guide me in completely cleaning out the video drivers? Before i installed the 179.67 my DTV could put on 60hz but now installing and reusing the old toshiba ones i couldn't get 60hz anymore (well some lower resolutions are fine but Full HD couldnt).
Many thanks in advance -
tunay im pretty sure auslogics boost speed and memset will work for windows 7, just as some programs for xp work on vista
i also have the same problem rictorious, and have researched a lot on it, but most people come to the short conclusion of formatting and reinstalling. as of now, i have taken a break with it, but will try to solve this when i have a lot of free time.
however, to uninstall the video drivers, go to programs and features, and uninstall nvidia drivers. (make sure the drivers you want to install are already downloaded)
then restart and install your new drivers. -
Yeah... Have my x300 with new GPU, works very great! Gives me a 10000 3dmark06 on stock settings... Now i overclocking it a little bit =)
And yes. Only windows 64 and not stock drivers for GPU will save the world =) 179.22 -
I have no other idea. I have also 7200rpm but like I said I had also Please Wait screen before I installed Vista again and leaved the drivers I didin't use.
Sorry...
Dude55: Thank you!
When I try another driver, I first uninstall PhysX then Nvidia Performance (NVIDIA System Tools)
, last NVIDIA Drivers. Then I re-boot and instal the new drivers + Physx and NVIDIA System Tools to last...
I selecet yes when I ask me to remove profilies, when I uninstall Nvidia Performance (NVIDIA System Tools)
-
@Rictorius and Dude55
I had issues also, only way i could fix it was to boot into safe mode, then run drive sweeper, removing physx and nvida video crap, it deleted all the entries in registry and the files used, then while still in safe mode i installed the Toshiba Nvidia Video drivers, and rebooted. Vola all good
heres the site to get it, free btw

Thats what i used -
Thanks Wickedt i will give that a try when i get home, cheers.
-
Awsome thank you for this Tomcom2k
-
Could someone tell me if it worked for them also?
if it works for 2-3 people then i will do it. -
Highly recomend you to use; Auslogics BoostSpeed. I got suggestion from Dude55 and yes it works very very good!
Thanks again
Don't forget to instal Nvidia PhysX And Nvidia Performance (NVIDIA System Tools) after it makes a diffrence on performance -
I am quite suprised at how good Toshiba's UK support is, despite it being such a big company. It took one phonecall to get my x300 picked up by courier and now the heatsink is apparently being changed to a new model and my 9800m gtx is getting replaced, all at no charge!
Whats even better is that they said I was eligible for a full refund, given my situation, if the problem persisted!
I just had to put this out here, really impressed atm. Fingers crossed. -
Hi guys! Can anyone tell me what driver to use for overclock, for moment i use 179.22 can clock just 600/840/1540 =(
and my quadcore q9000 2.5 Ghz =) -
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=360567
And my new 3DMark06 Socre =)
-
Thanx! Ah great score dude! =)
-
Thanks!
I use that method as well. Don't forget to load your profile by; CTRL + ALT + H -
Anybody with a 9700M GTS/Q701 ever come close to touching 8825 with all the hardware stock?
-
Anybody else with a -Q706 using Windows 7?
-
I have tried it at my -13o but is there a problem, or something ?
-
I use win 7, works perfectly. Qosmio x300-14n = x305-Q706
worked with 3ds max + vray 1.5, run amazingly, render fast! =)
Toshiba is much better when it works! =D -
What drivers are you using? I'm having trouble installing the Nvidia chipset drivers. device manager shows missing drivers for smbus etc.
-
btw, thanks for the reply SanekN. have you tried overclocking your q9000 with Nvidia system tools?
-

-
Hi SanekN
I had to remove windows 7 for the simple reason I couldn't find a window 7 driver for the Hybrid SLI that would enable me the actually switch to the onboard video. It was as if aero was preventing it from changing, anyone else have this.
On to the rant, why oh why isn't there the BIOS Options:
Disable HSLI - 9400 G
Disable HSLI - 9800 GTS/X
Enable HSLI - Hybrid Default 9400G
Enable HSLI - Hybrid Default 9800 GTS/X
-----
Enable F4 HSLI OnBoot Selection
Disable F4 HSLI OnBoot Selection
That would mean one could use any os without the problem of HSLI support. Linux works but only on the 9400. Windows XP x64 could work. And people out and about could force the onboard card.
End of rant -
Those are very good 3dmark scores sgilmore, was the cpu/gpu overclocked?
