If i use anything from Nvidia it doesn't recognise them. -

Can any one help me ??
i have tired to install vista 32 or 64 every time i installed give me the folloing message "a required cd dvd drive device is missing"i have Qosmio X300-31
can you help me plz -
Hi and welcome to NBR !
So, you can't boot into setup with a Vista disc or what ? -
thank you for your welcoming and your fast replay
yes i boot and after boot he give me this massage i tired to install vista ultimate -
Hmmm, maybe there is a problem with the CD you try to install from (?)
But, your CD-Rom works after you have booted into OS right ? -
yes i can't boot and install vista ultimate
-
What I try to say is that you are sure your CD-Rom works right ?
Becouse it can't be software related. Have you tried other Vista Ultimate CD ? And if you have an old XP cd or someting try to boot with it. To make sure your CD-Rom works. You can also enter BIOS and check if your CD-Rom shows up.... -
yew i try this and my dvd is working
-
It seems like your Vista Ultimate Dvd is the problem then...
Did you buy it or it is downloaded? -
i buy original one
-
Well, I'm stuck then. Have you tried the new Vista Ultimate CD on another computer ?
-
yes and working well
-
I'm stuck then, maybe you should try to clean your CD-Rom...
-
I've tried it and got the fdd option of fdd in F12 boot options but didn't have a usb flash drive to boot from. says, "no operating system found"
-
When you srart your computer, press F12 immediately when you see Qosmio, then select boot from cd/dvd option. When it says press any key to boot from dvd, proceed...
-
But he says that after installation start he get this "error"
-
Select "format" when the option for which disk to install to comes up before installing to it.
-
I think he means the optical drive also CD/DvD-Rom. Not the hardrive. But I'm quite not sure, becouse he says that the CD work on another PC and another CD works in his Qosimo so little bit confusing
-
Guys, who opened his X305 can you give information about BIOS flash installed on MB? Just numbers, I'm invistigating posibility to install Alienware's BIOS on our laptop.
-
I've got no idea what your on about? Sorry.
Are you saying you've flashed the alienware bios using winplash in windows and rebooting and then you didn't have a floppy drive
-
We know your investigating the possiblity, every forum on the net with "Bios, qosmio and m17x" you've posted on
Thats why I said i'd donate $20 / 15 to try it in case other people wanted to offer the same to equate to a repair if it went -
ok guys.. about that dell bios.
The toshiba bios has 1,068Mega
The dell bios has 2.089Mega
Unless the bios on qosmio supports that size it will not work.
IF IT HEVER BOOTS with the dell bios, with i don't believe, probably it will brake smt and i suspect that we will not be able to reflash the original bios.
For instance the touch buttons ? The bluetooth support ? Even the display !!
The dell gpus are probably mxm were Toshiba's proprietary but acting like mxm so probably this is not to worry about.
That bios would be a dream here, but for me, not happening :S
who knows.... -
Can't we X300/305 users just spam Toshiba down ? Maybe they make a update wich includes those things? If every body just send them same mail to same mail adres. Maybe we can start something ? Don't know, just an idea? Bios on X300/305 is useless right now!
Something like protest
Anybody ? -
I think the option to manage hybrid SLI is bios is the main thing. Along with OC.
I dont think our boards actually have the RAID chip installed
I gave up editing our existing bioses. Even if i did do it it'd probably not work on the qosmios with intel chipsets or what not.
I think we should all pop on a plane to Toshi's HQ in japan and start a riot until we have these options
-
haha
Let's do it !
But Japan is far away
-
I just looked at the dell bios on the editor and IT'S so different !! Different modules, one of them is the raid that the qosmio motherboard doesn't have!!
Forget it guys, you will end up with an expensive paper weight. -
X300/305 with nvidia chipset support raid, it is included, but disabled. Maybe it's linked with Toshiba policy? (Last notebook with raid support was Qosmio G30/35).
It is possible to move some blocks of data from Alienware bios to ours. It could work, but question is how big is a bios rom. Original Toshiba bios is 8Mbit, so the biggest problem is at this point.
btw. X300 with intel chipset also has a Phoenix bios? -
Yes but diffrent version.
My last version is 2.10. -
Would anyone be able to confirm which are the latest Nvidia drivers that work for the 9700M GTS, without making your screen and TV go black when you plug in an HDMI cable? The latest ones from the website screw HDMI up. Thanks.
-
Official 186.03 ?!
-
Yes, official mobile driver from nvidia site.
-
Strange. I don't use HDMI on my machine so can't give you a suggestion on that. Sorry
-
Thank you. But I tried that driver, and it gives me the same problem. I had to go back to the Nvidia driver from Toshiba's website so I could use my HDMI. Is there another driver that could be causing me problems? All of my drivers are the most up to date ones from Toshiba's website. Could it possibly be that my laptop is from Canada and a little different configuration? Wouldn't make much sense to me as Nvidia doesn't offer a Canadian website, so I used the USA/International website's 186.03 driver.

Select your model and see if there are any different drivers available.
Otherwise I would you suggest trying Dox 185.85 http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=24003
Raid is not supported on the x305 or x300 due to the southbridge. therefore since a motherboard houses the chipsets, you can say the motherboard does not support raid also. due to the southbridge and chipset differences from the dell compared with the toshiba x305/x300, the bios will not be able to accommodate the code for the hardware, therefore that bios will not work. raid will never be supported. now if toshiba does release a better bios, due to it being a generalized company, it will not delve into the exotic configuration options being offered by sager and the like. you already purchased the x305 and x300 and that is all toshiba cares about, so ranting about a new bios will unfortunately be rendered useless. what i think toshiba can accomplish with a newer bios is the overclocking of extreme edition cpus. otherwise, i dont see any newer exotic configs being added. the x300 and x305 is a sad case really. -

i heard that you are having problems with updating your drivers if you have a hybrid tri sli setup. i was wondering if you can try these steps and post your results here or there

Good riddance to mine i say, My 9700m GTS GPU finally died on mine and the support from Toshiba was really bad, They did eventually replace the GPU after endless phone calls. But it took a few weeks for somebody to actually come to my house. So when it was fixed I sold it and got myself the Beast! as its known. (Dell M1730) Now Im so glad i got rid of it.
-
beautiful, nice XPS M1730 you have there. even Dell, the largest computer manufacturer on this planet, offers overclocking support and a special XPS line, which I heard is actually pretty good. The M1730 only has good reviews as well. I'm thinking of scrapping the x305 but it would have only been for the G50VT for $800 because I doubt I would get more than $900 for it.
-
I E-bayed mine and got £800 UK pounds for it, Ive just worked that out at about 1300 US dollars, The M1730 is good but a lot of people have problems with certain aspects of the hardware ie: The gpus and motherboard. But at least DELL support is brilliant compared to Toshiba and fixes it quickly
-
Yeah, I'm probably not gonna sell it, I will just keep it for another year or so.
And Dell definitely has better support than Toshiba, plus you can purchase GPU's and motherboards as well.
But what has all my attention now is the new Alienware M17x. it is absolutely amazing, all anodized aluminum with glass and it starts at $1800. dell really knocked it out of the park with this one, replacing the previous m17x along with the xps m1730. the m17x is by far the best looking 17" laptop I know of in terms of specs and performance and price. -
hey guys, i asked this before a while ago but i didnt understand.
i have the Toshiba X305-Q701 Qosmio.
Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processor P7350 with 2 processing cores, 1066MHz system bus, 3MB L2 cache and 2.0GHz processor speed per core
4GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM
NVIDIA GeForce 9700M GTS graphics with 512MB GDDR3
what are all the things i can upgrade (processor speed?,or even make it a quad core?)?
like hardware wise?
and can i change my Nvidia geforce card to a higher one and will it have any negative effects...(overheating)??
for my graphics card it says (on dxdiag) it says approx. total memory 2287Mb , can i make it more? -
I plan to buy toshiba x305 with q9000,9800m gtx and 64gb ssd...
Any opinion?is it reliable or it depends on your luck?
Thank you -
How much are you going to be paying for this? Ive had bad experience with Toshiba but you might be ok.
-
Do not buy a Toshiba x305 or x300. Its ironic how I own one and I am telling you not to. But I am warning you that you will get a cheap plastic hunk of poop with horrible support.
Tell me your budget and I will find you the best laptop you can buy. I will never get another Toshiba again. The only companies I will buy from are Asus, Sager, and Alienware.
Now you can upgrade the processor to any processor in the P series, and t9xxx processors. As well as QX9300 and q9000, and q9100, and q9200.
Upgrading is not easy so be warned. You will have to disassemble the whole laptop and remove the motherboard and flip it over. And it is a shame since half of the CPU is shown under the RAM slot.
And you can upgrade your GPU as I showed in the beginning of the thread, why you dont check the beginning don't ask me. The only GPU's you can upgrade to are 9800M GTX and 9800M GT but it is very expensive, and it costs $1000 for the 9800M GTX and around $700 for the 9800M GT.
And with the 2287MB of memory, it only uses that if it runs out of the 512MB of dedicated RAM, and that is very unlikely to happen. And if so, it will only use a 100MB or so, unless you are playing the most intensive game possible for 10 hours on a 30" LCD with the resolution cranked up, then it might need to use the shared memory.
The only way to increase GPU performance is by getting better drivers and overclocking, otherwise you are out of luck.
But to all potential buyers of the x300 and x305, stay away!
