yes it is. can you recall a time when you utilized the full 4GB of RAM that it was unbearable to use. would you be willing to spend 800$ for 8GB of ram?
ive never used anywhere near the full 4gigs while playing any games and multitasking with 50 things open.
we will never use 8GB of DDR3 RAM, nevermind using the full 4GB's. 4GB of DDR2 is still enough for computers today.
if you happen to somehow use the full 4GB of ram everday that you need the expensive upgrade, then u should get it, but if you were, i wouldnt see how your processor would handle that load.
my processor is the bottleneck in my system. in yours is probably the 9700M GTS.
i just noticed something else:
you are only running a 32-bit OS. you need a 64-bit OS to USE the full 4GB of RAM. you are only using around 3GB
download windows 7 64-bit for free. -
I have'd open it up and check what the ram are (PC3-8500s-7-05-FP). I think this is a PC8500 1066mhz? and I will take ur advice. THQ

np and i believe that all the toshibas came with the same type of ram (i havent seen anyone talk about different types of ram in this computer)
and u should see a performance increase from 32 to 64-bit, not to mention to get rid of vista with ALL of toshiba's bloat wear put on, which will kill the RAM, and its even worse your on 32-bit with all the bloat wear.
gl with it. you have 2 HD's so you dont even have to partition, install it on one HD. dualboot with vista on one and windows 7 on the other.
i havent used vista in months
-
I need to prey, I dont get any more blue screen on windows 7

u get blue screens? ive only had 1 on this laptop, and ive had it for nearly a year. ive never had one on W7, and on vista i cant remember why it happened, but i think it was after a driver update.
my laptop had startup problems on vista, but i havent had 1 issue on W7. its so problem free, im bored of not having to fix anything. -
I had 2 x blue screen while trying to install nvidia drivers (186.03 verison), after that was fine.

i was wondering if you could disable the Media buttons on the top row since i have a problem with them they keep activating and i have no idea why. i use a very strong cooling fan underneath. is it possble to just disable the entire thing with out removing wires?
-
Uninstall Toshiba value added package.
-
I am thinking might be able to disconnect touchpad LED cable and use that connector if the keyboard LED cable will reach.
either way, I'll be finding out soon as my card has been billed for the keyboard, that means it has shipped. -
another quick question how does one disable the sound of the media buttons activating?
-
Mute speakers
It is not possible I think... -
its an option in the bios to deactivate the button sound
-
i feel like im asking too much
but i have a sounds problem its comming in all Cracking in both brand new head phones i used in my ipod just now to test sounds and it works and the speakers on the computer.
i am grateful for all the help i have been given. i love this laptop its like my baby i got the special issurance to even if its ripped apart by a gorilla they will fix it for me, or something.
Edit: it appears to be happening when i am online just going to a different page or clicking links or even posting on here, or as i am even opening up another program such as aim or Msn messenger. -
tornbacchus GO leafs.. Wait, Nevermid
what player are you using? if i use a cheap one like limewire and turn the sound all the way up, i get crackling noises. use itunes or windows media player and see.
-
i am using itunes, and Ventrilo. but even when i have even one on. might it be because of lag issues with the computer?
-
-
-
-
well after listening to those wtih wow vent itunes and this browser up it sounds better and my music plays better. i guess something worked or kicked in.
well now ventrillo is broken lol. im just not doing well at all
okay i have a thing that isnt plugged in.
it is called: Realtek Digital Output and it disappeared from my play back devices -
Ah, this is true. I forgot it...
That crancking sound is becouse your GPU driver. The newest and some DOX optimized drivers downclocks to make less heat and save battery. If the webpage is big and you scroll the clocks will clock up and when this happend the sound/music player cranck. You can try it with GPU-Z and see the toruth
-
If the sound problem is the GPU's downclocking, then powermizer can be turned off and on with this switch: http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/24469-powermizer-switch-1-2/ run winzip or something, extract it to desktop, right click, run as administrator.
It only turns powermizer off on one of my 9800m gts's, the 2nd one still downclocks. -
HP parts store is offering the QX9300 OEM for $502 the part # is 507946-001
edit: HP parts website shows part is orderable but not in stock. -
all i did was use the restore point to fix it all i didnt know what it was. and im new to the whole term overclocking and downclocking
-
I have a Qosmio x300 with a P8600 inside. I really want to upgrade because I do a lot of 3d work which involves a massive strain on the processor for rendering. I am happy to buy a QX9300 but wondering if it will definately work in my laptop? If it wont should I settle for the P9500?
Thanks. -
It will work...
-
Haha, thank you, and thanks for the quick reply.
-
tornbacchus GO leafs.. Wait, Nevermid
if your getting a new processor, could i possibly get your p8600?
i only have a p7350 and really want a new processor.
where do you live? i live in Canada.
thanks
send me a pm if u can -
My LED keyboard upgrade is not working, not able to get the LED's to light up. Keyboard works and fits great otherwise. I'm thinking that the LED ribbon connector is not powered--it's the copper colored one. If anybody knows what is wrong, I would appreciate the help.

tornbacchus GO leafs.. Wait, Nevermid
not much experience with this, but heres a few things:
-does our bios support it/ do we need a supported bios to tell the computer to power on the keyboard
- is there an option in the bios?
-download the keyboard driver
- does the connector to the right of the wire fit/work?
- turn on the touchpad lights with the touchsensitive button
- if you absolutely cant get it working, could you rewire it into the touchpad lights? -
I've been checking around and it appears that there has to be something in the BIOS and since none of the Qosmios have backlit keyboards, there isn't anything in the BIOS.
The connector for the touchpad led 1) wont reach and 2) doesnt match. I'm not really confident about wiring and soldering. -
tornbacchus GO leafs.. Wait, Nevermid
how about hard wiring it into the touchpad lights
how are the touchpad lights connected? if you can, even though the lights will always be on, you would be able to turn them on/off with the toggle touch sensitive button -
"how about hard wiring it into the touchpad lights"
It is probably doable but not by me, would have to take to someone with experience soldering/ wiring electronics. -
I do like the non super glossy flatter keys on the new keyboard, just too bad can't get the backlit to work.
-
-
Sweet, I like it!
Any possibility to get lights to work ? -
It is either a defective keyboard or the ribbon cable connector port isn't powered.
-
Have you tryed to contact any-type support ?
Maybe like you say it is a detactive keyboard ? -
Yes, they said it should work and actually wrote up a warranty case number and told me where to take it for servicing.

tornbacchus GO leafs.. Wait, Nevermid
ive been looking for some bags for my x300. i have a backpack, but it is wrecking the laptop because of the pressure put on the lid, so im getting an over the shoulder bag.
the best one that ive found is this:
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1238116&Sku=T22-1191
EDIT:
the length and width are great, thats the problem ive had with other ones, the only problem is the depth.
the laptop is 2.4606"
the bag is 2.25"
now i dont know much about inches, but .20 isint that much, and give or take, it should fit.
anyone have any more info they can give me, thanks
thanks -
Don't forget, you are gonna need room for that giant power brick! I have a Kensington bag that I like, and everything fits very well. It is an older version of this model.
-
tornbacchus GO leafs.. Wait, Nevermid
really it fits well???? its only 2.0" thick, meaning mine is 2.25" and it will fit better???
all of the dimensions of that bag are smaller than the one that i want to get, except for the whole bag width, but the laptop compartment is smaller than mine.
is it the exact same specifications as the newer bag that you have? if it is u just made my day
also, this bag is supposed to be really bulky, it has pouches on the outside, which doesnt affect the room inside the bag perfect for the brick
thanks, and if u can, could u find link your current laptop bag -
The sleeve is only 2" wide, I don't use the sleeve. The compartment that the sleeve fits into is a little over 3" deep x 12" tall x a little over 17" wide. I'll take a photo of it in a minute.
