Hey tunay, yeah would've been disappointed if a quadcore didn't give a better score, got it from shirleyfu1117 on Ebay for $205.

Nice, I can upgrade to QX9000 if I want now but I realy want a QX9300! I am gonna buy a new laptop to school. And I can buy it with QX9100 and change it with my T9600!
It will be a Sager (Multicom, in my country)... -
You're not going to wait for mobile i7?
-
No, I want to upgrade my X300. If I go for i7, I never buy a new cpu for my X300. I need something cheap for school. i7 will be overkill. Sager is cheap in my country btw...
-
That strange my 9700 gts get a 6.6 for graphics and gaming in windows 7
-
WEI doesn't measure sli performance. Does your 9700m gts have 1024 graphics memory? Each 9800m gts is 512
-
i have the x300-11s which is the entry level, i got it when it first hit the market. The 9700 GTS is 512
-
The highest oc'd WEI graphics and gaming score for my 9800m's is 6.4
-
I see some HP users with 9600m gt's are getting 6.3's in WEI.
-
So what is the fastest card we can upgrade to.... 9800 GTX right ?
-
Here is my score on my toshiba.
View attachment 38937 -
Thats strange i can get mine to about a 7, I tought the 9800 was faster than the 9700... oh your running sli
-
Depends on the motherboard, mine has an Nvidia chipset and my 9800m gts sli chips are on the same card--not sure (even if it is possible) that if I swapped 1gb 9800m gtx for sli 9800m gts would be much of an upgrade.

!! Realtek High Definition Audio Driver R2.34 and Description Updated !!

looks fast... i wounder what it would be like if you was using windows 7. Im think about upgrading my cpu,gpu and hard drive. My hard drive is the lowest at 5.5 everything else is a 6, expect graphics and gaming at 6.6.
What hard drive do i need to buy to get my base score to a 6 -
Get an ssd--Intel, Indillynx or Samsung controller based not JMicron.
-
I got SSD, I'm going to upgrade to Windows7 when it "officaly" comes out.. I can then post results...
-
Sorry if it's been posted, but there's near 200 pages in this thread (and I remember when it was on page 11!)...
What do I need to download to get the touch buttons working in Win7? I've got the latest drivers coming in from the first post, so hopefully that covers it. But if not, I thought someone else might already have it posted. -
sgilmore62 know how to fix that, I'm not into Windows7 yet.
Vista x64 FTW
-
The latest TVAP on Toshiba USA support works. I used CCleaner on the registry and it caused the touch buttons and lights to not work again.

Crysis plays better with the quad

tunay, yeah I bought the game about a month ago and played a little, not online, but my framerates with P8400 were low 18-22. everything i've read about this game says it's all about a quadcore and the benchmarks seem to bear this out. -
Yea, the GTA IV needs Quad Core...
-
tunay, how do you take a screenshot in GTAIV?
-
I use FRAPS.

thanks! 10char

You're Welcome

Thought i might share... imagine this in your qosmio x300/3005... i know i know some of you already have it.

Can it run crysis ..... lol -
What do you guys think about the temps of my Q9200--ran wPrime a couple times to heat it up.
-
Quite low ?
-
Yeah, and thats overclocked @2.73ghz 304mhz bus
-
Wow. Do you use notebook cooler ?
-
yeah got the cryo nzxt and I take the ram door off --with the ram door off the temps are at least 3c lower. the chipset is right next to the ram and the cpu isn't far from that.
-
The reason my cpu temps are so low above is because of the switchable graphics on the 706 and 708 models. If I benchmark a game or something that heats up the discrete gpu's then switch them off by selecting powersaver mode the gpu fans will stay on high even though the gpu's have been switched off. Normal idling of my cpu without activating the switchable graphics fan bug is low 40'sC.
-
Yea, I know the bug. But your Q9200 is clocked higher then QX9300 ?!
-
No, the stock clock is 2.4ghz but I can raise Bus setting to 304mhz and that overclocks the cpu to 2.73ghz. Some Alienware and Asus Q9200 owners are able to take advantage of the unlocked multipliers as well as FSB and are able to get over 3ghz out of theirs. 2.73ghz is as high as I can go stable--if I raise the bus any higher than 304mhz I get some hard lock freeze ups. Not sure if a BIOS revision caused this limit because I use to be able to go higher without issues.
-
That was what I meant with overclock sure. Too bad I with intel chipset can't do this. If I was able I can change when I want...
-
There was a thread where someone was trying to get the setfsb guy to provide fsb overclocking for x305 but he needed some info that someone wanted $50 for. Sounded kinda fishy to me IDK
-
I contacted Silego a while ago regarding the PLL info but to no avail.
-
Im thinking about upgrading my P8700 to one of the qxxxx which would be best. I use my laptop for anaimation and video editing... as well as the odd game.
Is socket p the same a s 474 -
I got my Q9200 from shirleyfu1117 on Ebay for $205. If you insist on an OEM chip and want the best and fastest that will fit in your X305, HP Parts Store is delivering them for $502+shipping.

I don't know what to feel at this moment. Just a few days ago I was struggling in my mind on which laptop to get. It was between the Gateway P-7805U FX or the Toshiba 706. After doing what I thought was a lot of research I took the chance with the 706. What stuck out to me was the SLI 9800m GTS. I thought that this feature would make it more powerful when gaming than the gateway.
After making my purchase from the internet yesterday morning, I came across a link that led me here. I stayed up late last night reading the first half of this thread and finished the rest of it up this morning.
I don't know rather to feel depress or to feel good about the purchase. At the moment there is no turning back. My 706 will be here Weds.
As I was reading through this long thread I was hoping that someone who show up with the dream drivers to get the SLI setup to work. But instead, more and more negitive posts were made.
I most say that through it all sgilmore62 stayed positive and kept me hoping that my purchase was not a stupid one. Dude55 and Tunay were also helpful.
I read through so many post where people tried to make something of this 706 SLI issue but nothing was ever solid. With that being said, I have a few questions.
Will whoever has had success with this laptop please help me in getting the most out of my 706?
Like what is the latest driver that seems to work well for the SLI setup? Is there one? Is 186.05 still the way to go? And can I overclock my GPU and CPU? If so, what tool should I use and what settings seem to work with yours? Should I make the move to Windows 7 or should I stick with Vista 64?
Will the Toshiba still out preform the Gateway? At least I got the Toshiba for for s pretty good deal, 1050.00. Then again, if it doesn't preform well, I waisted my money! Dang! I need some positive reinforcement FAST! -
For Hybrid SLI use the latest official nvidia mobile drivers
-
there's not a particular one for this laptop? Please forgive me for my noobness!
-
so the 186.81 is the way to go?
-
I have noticed much lower temps with the lastest official driver for nVidia. I'm going to start playing now, for a few hours to see the max temprature. I will post the results here...
