yeah, i think i was getting 9985 consistently stock but when i first got my system was able to go 2.7ghz cpu and got 11,600 3dmark06 without gpu overclocks. You might want to refrain from the BIOS updates to confirm my theory that maximum FSB was restricted by BIOS revision.

If I could only overclock. Maybe I should use and older version on ntunes?

No, you should be able to overclock with Nvidia system tools 6.05--maybe it did not install correctly/ does Nvidia performance show up in programs and settings?

What display drivers are you using? I used to get that when adjusting GPU clocks, never CPU sometimes with the older drivers but never with the newer ones

to be honest i dont know, I just dont get those invalid/is not applied popups any mor. try raising all of the 9800mgts clocks by 50mhz. You have to use the dropdown whatchamacallit to get to the 9800mgts cuz the 9400m will be what you see but dont overclock that

I wish we had BIOS overclocking options--think I could get this Q9200 over 3ghz easy with multiplier options. had it to 2.77ghz yesterday and ran multiple benchmarks all afternoon without issue but didn't try to push FSB higher though.

No,but there is a pretty cool(pun intended) bug that runs the fans on high in powersaver mode. Run a 3d application like crysis benchmarking tool then switch to powersaver mode on the fly and your gpu fans will stay on high until you either reboot or switch back to high performance.

so with an intel p45 board,is the 9800 gtx the fastest card i can upgrade to, currently have the 9700 gts. Im planning to but a quad core soon, so i get a qx9300 will be supported socket p. The reason i ask is that the x305 and x300 are similar but im not sure if there are in changes in support from the older models to the newer one. I have the x300-11s the first models to be released

My first results are very confusing. I get lower 3DMark06 points when I have my RAM modules at 7-6-6-15 or 7-6-6-14 compared to stock timig wich is 7-7-7-20. No overclock on GPU (or CPU)

I have now worked with overclocking and benchmarking for about 2 hours. It is nearly impossible to get a higher score then 11,832. Even at 585/940/1463
    "the official" driver fail...
    I'm stumped :(

    HELP!
    My X305 is dead :(

When power is plugged in, the AC light on the front LED cluster turns on, and then the 6 red LEDs on the side of the back speakers, the power button LED and the red bar above the touch pad start to glow.

But the power button is unresponsive, the laptop won't turn on, no BIOS screen, no fan, no nothing.

    Has anyone seen this before?

Putting the battery in doesn't help either. The power button is unresponsive.

I 've measured the voltage on the power plug and two of the four pins register 19V DC. The other two and the shield are ground.

Is there a special revive/clear CMOS content boot sequence by holding some keys down while pressing the power button?

HELP! It was working five mins ago. I shut it down, went away, and then came back turning it on again, but while it was turning on, I plugged in a USB 3G wireless modem. I hope I haven't fried the laptop power circuits.

    Any suggestion is much appreciated.

I've never heard or seen a problem like this. But what I remember from my HP few years ago is that if the machine has overheated it will not allow you to turn it on again. This happend to my one time, and I had to wait. But you say you shut it down and went away. I realy don't know...

There is definitely something going on with my usb 3g modem. The first time I plugged it in got an instant BSOD in Vista Ultimate. Havent had any problems with it in Windows 7, in fact this morning am getting pretty good speeds with it for being a mobile connection. [IMG]

Are you still under warranty? if it wont post to the BIOS then its probably something fried on mobo.

Try removing battery and unplugging ac adapter then hold down power button for 30 seconds. plug it in and see if itwill pass post.

my first overclock was around 10080 but now they are around 9450?

Sometime when I try to overclock the GPUs my benchmark scores go lower instead of higher. Anyone want to give me some of there numbers on the 9800m gts. If I can just stay above 10000 I would be happy!

    Thanks!

Are you using a notebook cooler? 49-53 idle sounds about right, 80-83 what kind of a load-what game?

Just ran 3dmark again and temps were 83 with on card and 79 with the other.

This time they were clocked at 700/799/1600

BUT I get the same temps when stock.

I hope you don't forget to load the overclock profile ?
Also, incrasting Mhz won't raise tempratures much. If you edit voltage it wiil incrast by 5-10C. But we X300/305 owners can't do that. Thanks to Toshiba...

I've tried waiting for a couple hours and removing both the battery and the ac plug... and then holding down the power on button for > 30secs.

The thing is dead as a door knob... time to go into Toshiba warranty service.

What do you mean by 'final release"? Are you looking at engineering samples, OEM's or retail chips? I think the best way is the HP Parts Store OEM for $502.
