just updated my bios to version 2.10 and all of a sudden my temperatures seem really high. at idle gpu and cpu are around 45-50C which is fine, but if i play a game or run 3dmark06 cpu temps go up to 80C and gpu 75-80C before cpu never went above 60C and gpu 65C, is there anything i can do or am i just going to have to live with it

try to boot it with just one RAM module in at a time in each slot. If you have somehow damaged one of the RAM slots or RAM modules themselves it wont pass post.

That happened to me to .. turned out to be my video drivers .. I had to step back one generation of driver and all of a sudden my temps went back to normal .. my system actually clipped a couple of times it got so hot .. first time it happened I almost lost it .. middle of a game it just shut down ... thankfully the thermal cut off saved me .. took me a while to figure it out .. but it was definately the video driver .. hope this helps

I noticed that the new X505s are no longer using 250 GPUs and instead 360s. Is the 360 faster? or cooler? or both?

GamerFX, you can try powercycling also -- take the battery out and unplug the ac adapter then hold the power button for 30 seconds. plug it back in and see if it will post.

Sorry dude .. i should have put that in the original post .. i'm using the 186.81 set from back in aug. the 195 set didn't have the whql stamp on it at the time and I haven't checked the nVidia site since to be honest ... once I stepped back the temp problem just went away ... i ran all my games hard for a week and they never got much over the high 60s low 70s ... much better than the 85 it was hitting with the other driver pkg.

Any Nvidia users with the MCP79 chipset able to use other memory tool other than the Nvidia sys tools?
Memset doesnt seem to work, only on intel chips I recon, right?

Just thinking about the Cas setting, that cant be touched :(

Also found out after running with 3ghz a little week in apps, that it wasnt stable, no matter of tRAS, tRCD, tRC ect ect :( 2.9ghz seems to be working fine in games tho.

Hey guys, I got a A500-6986 toshiba laptop with win7 installed tweaked and optimized and most newest drivers and bios installed, of course just like most laptops with win7 and nvidia graphics I am getting DPC latency, now of course it isn't major but its causing random audio robot noise in games like crysis as well when i install software while listening to streaming music in winamp it cuts out every now and then! I tried everything I could following tips in the alienware forums and dell forums but it dont go away.

I am wondering if any of you are experiencing this with the better X300 systems? can anyone test it out for me? I usually run dpc latency ver 1.2 when idle at desktop with no background services or software going(that i know of) and cpus of course throttled down to idle mode and gpu clocks at level 1 idle mode. Its mostly in the green accept every5-10 secounds jumps to yellow or up high into the red. Just like in the alienware and dell forums, also with ibm lenovos got dpc latency.

For comparison I got good ole windows xp sp3 on a gigabyte EP45-UD3R motherboard with a quad core q9400 overclocked to 3.2ghz(no cpu downclocking) a nividia 9800gtx+ (does downclock) realtek 889 audio, 4 gigs of ddr2, 3 hard drives and so forth and the highest dpc latency on my desktop in windows xp is 4

On the toshiba laptop the good ones are in 100-400 range but theres alot in the red up to 2500 or so and yellow. At this point I would say its just how Windows 7 works and it sucks!

I would install xp on the toshiba but they do not have drivers (i can manually find them) and the utilities to control brightness and function buttons and what not toshiba dont have the xp software.

So is anyone expereincing this at all with their toshibas?

    Thank you!

yeh i have but not as bad i hang around 150 with small spikes up 500 every 10-20 seconds and once it jumped to 4000 but it never really seems to bother me so
i also have windows 7 not sure if it makes a difference because i never checked it out on vista. i some times have crackling or beeping through my speakers not sure if this is related to my latency spikes

    Good evening everyone!

    I hope all is well.

I have a Q706 and just upgraded to a QX9300 and had some questions about my temps. Idle is about 45C and running farcry2 60C. I am using MX3 cooling...Does this seem normal? Is there a utility to control the fans on the Q706? Is there a good way to validate? I am downloading a futuremark vantage program now...

    Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

    Have a wonderful day!

To get the red touch panel to work you must install Toshiba Value Added Package. Actually, I installed Windows7 on my 13o friday, and had to roll back to Vista saturday. Reason was that, some of the Toshiba Value Added Package compnents crash when I press FN button. I am very happy with Vista, I realy don't know why people don't like it. I ran GTA IV benchmark, and result was the same. With same drivers ect.

Ey i found it TVAP that is. The thingie is working now. Also i thought the remote would work with that TVAP, but nooo. Found some other drivers after installing a bunch of different remote softwares.

Still got a 2 items in my hardwarelist, that is yellow and unsupported, cant figure what im missing olz hehe.

Must say that its impressive how fast its running without all the preinstalled junk bloatware ect.

Going to try installing Linux (Ubuntu) this week, see how well it will run :)

Regarding FN button, isnt there a program for it? I just installed the one from my own support, and now nothing is working...gotta check into that. Some how i feel the lack of support gets worse and worse from Toshiba itself :( I red somewhere that Toshiba is only started working on Win7 drivers and software now for Qosmio's. Vista drivers wont do the job.

just a question does any one know any thing about impact computers some people love em yet other people hate them most the problems seems to be with shipping the wrong items or should i just ring em up (i would use spare parts warehouse but shipping is way to expensive, like $300 to Australia)

hey I'm back again and had a problem with w7.

i just got a new 46" sony TV w5100. I also got a bluray player with it, but bluray disks are so expensive, so i decided to turn my laptop into a bluray player since it has HDMI.

i was on windows 7, and when i attempted to use the hdmi output, it would not work. i tried everything, but i finally had to reinstall w7 because i wanted it to work. after reinstalling w7 it still didnt work so i actually had to go back and install vista, which i havent used in almost a year.

the HDMI finally works in vista. On my TV it looks amazing, especially when playing bluray. it actually looks just like my bluray player, but i dont have to buy the blurays.

so anyway, i want to reinstall w7 and do a dualboot just to be safe, but has anyone got the HDMI output working on w7? it only works on vista for me.

ps i HATE the startup time on vista. going from w7 to vista is a big change.

and 1 last question. i jut bought a new toshiba laptop which includes w7 home premium... could i use the recovery disks on my x300?

    thanks

Hello all, newest x305-q708 owner saying hello. I am loving my new laptop and amazed I found it for only $1550. So far I've installed Win 7 Ultimate but do to driver incompatibility reverted back to Vista 64 ultimate.

After reading through a little of the this thread I see that I can mod out my laptop alittle. Where can I find more details on how to performs this mods? Such as the fan mod, and maybe over clocking a little, new better thermal past, etc???
Thank you all for the work you have done so far in support our great machines.

    Off for now

Anyone with the 708 know the newest display driver for us? I had one hellish time finding something that works alright,
I'm currently using the 186.42 driver and get 38 average fps in crysis at 1024x768 high, AAx2, dx10, v sync. does this sound right?

I really love Windows 7 but had lots of issues with my laptop and drivers. Windows 7 is running on all my other computers at home, and it is soooo much faster than vista. Vista has a ton more over head and I would like to be done with it for good, but Toshiba & Nvidia are lazy and will not work on a good driver for our displays.

By the ways, I was reading the benchmarks for our 708 and they reviewed Crysis as having about 35fps at 1680x1050 on high, no AA, dx10, 64bit. While i can only get 16fps average, what's wrong with my machine?
    But my 3dMark '05 is 15997 !!!

Actually, there was not one gram diffrence between windows7 and vista GTA IV benchmarks. Startup time is the same, not any faster browsing internal etc. Well, I am happy with my vista installation. I can post my start up time if any one wonders.

    3dMark05 or 06 ?

Ok i might have something. Im stil trying to solve windows 7 issue. I got a unsupported unit called "Coprocessor".

I know what a coprocessor does, but i really assume its Nvidia's coprocessor for the 9800M card.

So do you have the same unknown unsupported Coprocessor under your hardware list? Might be why the low FPS?!?!

No, powermizer works fine with these drivers -- it stays downclocked anytime you are not using 3d applications and doesn't get any hotter than the notebook ones when you are. I get a WEI graphics score of 7.1 with 190.38 and 6.7 with the notebook drivers from Toshiba support.

Doing clean install of Windows 7 later tonight. Can anyone post a link to any and all drivers I need for my X305-712 once it's installed? I'm hoping Toshiba has everything I need in one download on their site, but just in case, hoping you tech wizards can point me to everything I need :)

Hey everyone, just stopping by. I have been too busy with marketing and site promotion and school so I had nearly no time to stop by but just wanted to say hi to everyone and wish that they have a Happy New Year and are doing well.
