it used to be misery, there were not many notebook drivers. It's a bit better now with mobile nvidia drivers, but I turned to use drivers from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com /modified Inf file/ ...ATI has an application which modifies driver for mobile GPUs (I used to have ATI)
-
Ah. I've don't like ATI. But yeah, I've also used drivers from LV2G before with modded INF and I tried diffrent DOX drivers. But now I only stick with the official drivers from nVidia...
-
Tuηay if you find the CPU you are searching for are you going to sell your T9600 and for how much?
-
I'm currently in search for QX9300 for my X300 here in Norway. Maybe I sell it, not quite sure, in that case tornbacchus was first. Few pages back...
-
Bulgar if you want i have a T9400 which is up for sale, 2.53GHz 6mb cache 1066MHz fsb
-
I kept my P8400 for a backup just in case when upgrading to Q9200.
-
Thanks kenny27 but i'm having offer for a P8700!
-
ok no problem its still here if you change your mind
-
OK..new cpu q9100 is now inside!! everythings look´s OK...
In 3D06 I have now 10876 /before 9367/
Now I´m testing encode video
-
Sweet!
What is your tempratures ? -
Nice, I wonder how it does without cooling pad. But I think the tempratures will be same for me acctually.
-
cooling pads what are they? so no thermal paste?
-
tornbacchus GO leafs.. Wait, Nevermid
-
I have this cooling pad...
::: Zalman, leading the world of Quiet Computing Solutions :::
An thermal paste what I use /cpu and gpu now/ :
Akasa Thermal Solution
I´m satisfied now with my notebook on q9100
.
In future it´s possible change graphic card ?? Now i have 9800GTS 1Gb..
Tornbacchus : Good WORK!
EDIT : after 2 hours playing Setlers 7 maximum temperatures is 62°C.. -
oh for some reason thought it was a replacement for thermal paste :/
-
I use the nzxt cryo for my Qosmio and it looks and works very good.
Newegg.com - NZXT SILVER Aluminum Notebook cooler w/ 3 120mm adjustable fans Model CRYO LX -
I'm the only one who don't use a cooler pad or what?
-
My temperatures stay reasonable with the cooler -- without they get pretty high under load. I have actively monitiored my temperatures throughout the life of the machine to protect my investment.
I gave the Qosmio to my 9 year old son when I got custody a few months ago and switched the graphics to onboard. He only surfs the net and watches youtubes.
I got a desktop now that I no longer require a mobile DTR, was an over the road truck driver -- thats why I bought the Qosmio for portability. -
Ah, I understand
That is very nice from you, he is very lucky child which as a dad like you
My tempratures are low since I keep my vents clean and have a SSD drive. my GPU is idling now at 44C. I also don't have the battery in. -
Hey everyone I have finally decided to come back to the forums with the little time I have to just browse the internet. How is everybody?
-
Hello dude55!
Welcome back to your thread man. Thanks for asking I'm fine, how are you?
I'm currently in search for a QX9300 in Norway.
This thread has slowed very down for last months :/
We must not let this therad die guys. -
Hello Dude55 good to here your back and wanted to thank you for all your help in your posts. I bought my toshiba about a little over a year ago and all your advice and "tweaking" helped me alot.
-
Dude, I forgot to say that I have my RAM's stable running at 7-6-6-14. Under Vista x64, I have not seen one single Bluscreen with this. I wounder if I should go any lower... :/
-
nah sorry tunay i haven't found one, on the other ones just go into sound affects and put the equalizer on bass same thing i guess, or just use the vista driver seems to work ok
-
I have tried the driver for Vista, on Windows Seven, but it did not work. I have posted a screenshot of my error about 50-60 pages back.
-
-
Sorry tunay I also have unknown devices in my device manager of the ACPI compliant embedded controller didn't look to hard for the driver as it doesn't seem to affect any thing that i know of.
-
I don't have any unknown devices in my device manager. But this shows up in Windows Update for now. I don't know if I should install it or not :/

Hey folks, first time poster. Came across this threat after looking for overclocking for this particular model 033019. I see a lot of people having issues with overheating in their gpu. Mine started to do the same after several months of owning it and treating it rather roughly like most my systems. I figured there was a problem with the seating on the chipsets of an issue with the paste itself and got knocked lose somehow... Its really a design flaw on toshiba's part although a great system the way they have the 2 syncs lined up the front one will always look clear but the rear one will collect dust and everntually your games or video intensive applications will run from 60-104 or till it decides it wants to shut down. You'll need to pull it apart to get at the rear fins to clean them. I also applied new paste, some arctic silver 5. Since then my temp peaks @ 78ish on games like l4d2 and crysis.
Heres a really shady diagram of the layout of the sync fins cause im horrible at explaining lol... Also if anyone has overclocked theirs i would love some more information as the ps2 emu ive been playing around with seems to be limited by the cpu (2.26 x64 centrino duo)

CPU.........GPU----
(doesnt like spaces :/ using dots)
Nice to see at least im not the only one with this model or had similar issues
-
Hey and welcome to NBR!
By the last line, you mean your CPU, right? If so, if you have Intel Chipset you can't overclock your CPU. But if you have nVidia/nForce Chipset then you can.
Hope this helps
-
Well that's no good. was hoping to not have to break out the ps2 every time i feel nostalgic lol... Is there somthing with that particular chipset that limits it? (I havent tried overclocking anything since some older celerons)
My system specs
PQX32C-033019 - Qosmio X300-033
btw thanks for the welcome.

It is because Toshiba has locked out "our" BIOS. We can't either change the voltage on GPU. To change the voltage of GPU we must "import" our BIOS image and then work on it. But since Toshiba has locked the BIOS we can't.
This was just an example...
The two main reasons why we can't overclock our CPU is that "locked" BIOS and they won't give uss the datasheat for our Chipsets/Motherboards (or what ever). I and Dude55 (Therad starter!) tried hard back in time, about one year ago. But we're still without result. This is one of the reasons why I'm not going to buy Toshiba again. -
Yea there isnt a lot i noticed as far as configurable options for anything lower level. SpeedFan offered me options to set clock but i dare not try it without any form of datasheet... Its a good system, but i would like to be able to do more with it. so the x300 is one of those you see what you get systems :/ Cant say im overly impressed with toshiba. but it was the lesser of so many evils when i purchased this.
-
Yep. I wait for my QX9300 to arrive. I guess that you have seen my signature (?). That overclock for my GPU is max what I can get out of it before it run out of power. I would simply love to edit the voltage for my GPU.
But, I realy wonder how my system will do with a QX9300 instad of my T9600.
(REP added btw)

oh cool , thanks for the rep. Im gonna delve into this a little deeper now and see if i cant find somthing. I refuse to let somthing beat me. worse case i have to replace the mobo which takes more time then effort lol toshiba really loves screws. I dont really have a GPU issue anymore since i cleaned out the rear sync last time i pulled it apart, but the CPU itself cant handle some of the PS2 games through the emulator. I'll keep you updated if i find anything interesting in regards to changing the voltage cores, either on CPU or GPU
-
That's good. I'm very happy with my tempratures. I changed my HDD with an SSD drive, and my 9800M GTX is idling at about 43-45C
I clean my vents every month, regulary. I have also taken my laptop apart few times, and made a little "mod". Have you seen the picture? -
No i havent seen it. Atm my gpu is idling at 42 speed is telling me hdd's at 32 and cpu @ 40
-
Here is link to my post with pictures;
http://forum.notebookreview.com/6104800-post2651.html
Do you use any kind of cooler? -
Next time i disassemble mine i will take some pics for you. I don't like using cooling pads tbh if it overheats you've got a problem with the system imo. I look at it like a band-aid for a existing problem. it works but the problem is still there. Its kind of like installing a pop up blocker for adware lol. I pulled my board etc out last week to deal with the heating, i couldnt take it any longer.
-
lol! I just compleatly cleaned it and did tha speaker "thing" as you can see on the picture
But yeah, I'd like to see some pictures.

This therad is going to slowly now, we must not let this therad die boys and girls! I will post benchmarks soon I get my new CPU, but it is like only me. -
maybe it will pick up some if we can find more information on modding voltage cores etc. I dont like to believe its impossible or i'd be out of a job lol.
-
haha
I try to keep this therad so much I can. Well, atleast I hope that we can find something new about the voltage modding etc.
-
Just got myself a X300-16d refurbed as new for £700
Absolute bargain . Like buying an old ferrari - its still damn fast!
Just saying hi to all!
-
Hello and welcome to x300/305 owners club!
I'm glad you are happy with your X300. Yeah, things things are fast. Have you done any overclock or something? -
I installed the "mini" radar wigit on my toshiba, the only problem is now it dosen't work, it keeps saying not configured anyone else have this problem ?
-
yeah welcome new x300/305 owners
i got my x300 secondhand as well, from a guy of eBay saved heaps of money perfect condition, its the way to go with these laptops otherwise i think they are a bit expensive for what you get -
No idea man, sorry.
Umm, I can't remember if you have answred this before, but what happend to your "old" X305 ?
