    it used to be misery, there were not many notebook drivers. It's a bit better now with mobile nvidia drivers, but I turned to use drivers from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com /modified Inf file/ ...ATI has an application which modifies driver for mobile GPUs (I used to have ATI)

    Ah. I've don't like ATI. But yeah, I've also used drivers from LV2G before with modded INF and I tried diffrent DOX drivers. But now I only stick with the official drivers from nVidia...

    My temperatures stay reasonable with the cooler -- without they get pretty high under load. I have actively monitiored my temperatures throughout the life of the machine to protect my investment.

    I gave the Qosmio to my 9 year old son when I got custody a few months ago and switched the graphics to onboard. He only surfs the net and watches youtubes.

    I got a desktop now that I no longer require a mobile DTR, was an over the road truck driver -- thats why I bought the Qosmio for portability.

    My tempratures are low since I keep my vents clean and have a SSD drive. my GPU is idling now at 44C. I also don't have the battery in.

    I only have one driver version for Windows Vista which has this. Kinda important for good sound.

    Hey folks, first time poster. Came across this threat after looking for overclocking for this particular model 033019. I see a lot of people having issues with overheating in their gpu. Mine started to do the same after several months of owning it and treating it rather roughly like most my systems. I figured there was a problem with the seating on the chipsets of an issue with the paste itself and got knocked lose somehow... Its really a design flaw on toshiba's part although a great system the way they have the 2 syncs lined up the front one will always look clear but the rear one will collect dust and everntually your games or video intensive applications will run from 60-104 or till it decides it wants to shut down. You'll need to pull it apart to get at the rear fins to clean them. I also applied new paste, some arctic silver 5. Since then my temp peaks @ 78ish on games like l4d2 and crysis.

    Heres a really shady diagram of the layout of the sync fins cause im horrible at explaining lol... Also if anyone has overclocked theirs i would love some more information as the ps2 emu ive been playing around with seems to be limited by the cpu (2.26 x64 centrino duo)

    -------========
    -........========-
    CPU.........GPU----
    (doesnt like spaces :/ using dots)

    Nice to see at least im not the only one with this model or had similar issues :)

    Hey and welcome to NBR!
    By the last line, you mean your CPU, right? If so, if you have Intel Chipset you can't overclock your CPU. But if you have nVidia/nForce Chipset then you can.

    Hope this helps :)

    Well that's no good. was hoping to not have to break out the ps2 every time i feel nostalgic lol... Is there somthing with that particular chipset that limits it? (I havent tried overclocking anything since some older celerons)

    My system specs
    PQX32C-033019 - Qosmio X300-033

    btw thanks for the welcome. :)

    It is because Toshiba has locked out "our" BIOS. We can't either change the voltage on GPU. To change the voltage of GPU we must "import" our BIOS image and then work on it. But since Toshiba has locked the BIOS we can't.
    This was just an example...
    The two main reasons why we can't overclock our CPU is that "locked" BIOS and they won't give uss the datasheat for our Chipsets/Motherboards (or what ever). I and Dude55 (Therad starter!) tried hard back in time, about one year ago. But we're still without result. This is one of the reasons why I'm not going to buy Toshiba again.

    Yea there isnt a lot i noticed as far as configurable options for anything lower level. SpeedFan offered me options to set clock but i dare not try it without any form of datasheet... Its a good system, but i would like to be able to do more with it. so the x300 is one of those you see what you get systems :/ Cant say im overly impressed with toshiba. but it was the lesser of so many evils when i purchased this.

    Yep. I wait for my QX9300 to arrive. I guess that you have seen my signature (?). That overclock for my GPU is max what I can get out of it before it run out of power. I would simply love to edit the voltage for my GPU.
    But, I realy wonder how my system will do with a QX9300 instad of my T9600.
    (REP added btw) :)

    oh cool , thanks for the rep. Im gonna delve into this a little deeper now and see if i cant find somthing. I refuse to let somthing beat me. worse case i have to replace the mobo which takes more time then effort lol toshiba really loves screws. I dont really have a GPU issue anymore since i cleaned out the rear sync last time i pulled it apart, but the CPU itself cant handle some of the PS2 games through the emulator. I'll keep you updated if i find anything interesting in regards to changing the voltage cores, either on CPU or GPU

    That's good. I'm very happy with my tempratures. I changed my HDD with an SSD drive, and my 9800M GTX is idling at about 43-45C :)
    I clean my vents every month, regulary. I have also taken my laptop apart few times, and made a little "mod". Have you seen the picture?

    Next time i disassemble mine i will take some pics for you. I don't like using cooling pads tbh if it overheats you've got a problem with the system imo. I look at it like a band-aid for a existing problem. it works but the problem is still there. Its kind of like installing a pop up blocker for adware lol. I pulled my board etc out last week to deal with the heating, i couldnt take it any longer.
