It requires a directx 11 graphics card, and apparently the 9800M GTX is not a directx 11 card.

@Priest-King, not cool.
Have you tried it out kenny? -
Hey be careful she might find out!!
yeh i just tried it then P4021, GPU 3915, CPU 5204 and combined 3297 -
Any of you tried/looked in to this?:
17 Laptop Sleeve Case Bag Toshiba Qosmio X300 X305 Seri - eBay (item 280564927620 end time Dec-19-10 18:33:28 PST) -
I have a sleeve that came with my Alienware, just a bit of extra protection although mines not as padded as that one
-
The item location is Hong Kong. I wonder how it is, I've not been able to find one which fits my Qosmio here in Norway. I think I should give it a go, as it is not that expensive..

I am currently using x9100 (processor at 3,06ghz and can overclock up to 4ghz with no overheat). If I upgrade it to qx9300 which is a quad at 2,5ghz would I see any improvement? How much can the qx9300 overclock? Thanks in advance!
-
afak, there is still none sucessfull upgrades to QX9300 with nForce chipset. Or I'm wrong?
-
Tunay can you check your pm I have a question for you.

There are qosmio x300 with the qx9300 and the nforce chipset. And yes I know people who changed there cpu from core 2 duo (no the x9100) to the qx9300 using the nforce chipset. The question is: Is it worth it? I mean dual core 3,06 ghz vs quad core 2,53ghz (or even overclocked 4ghz dual vs ???ghz quad) ? Thanks in advance
-
I've also seen unsecessfull cases where nForce and QX9300 failed together.
-
The qx9300 should be able to very well against the x9100 do a google just to get some different ideas though
Depends how much multi threaded work you do, games newer then 4-5 years should be able to benefit from it. For over clocking some of the guys with Alienwares have got there to 4ghz in benchmarking, so it will just depend how good the cooling and power supply is. It should be a worthy upgrade.
Im pretty sure it has been done the guy who's motherboard stuffed up, well he could have even broke it when he took it apart -
Ah - okay, my bad then
-
The power load is almost the same any way 44w to 45w so it shouldnt be a problem.
If you want to check if its worth upgrading your cpu get a game like crysis (or a game you play alot) and do a benchmark run while you have your x9100 over clocked as high as you would usually have it, then overclock your graphics card a bit and see it there is any improvement if there is no improvement it could be worth getting the qx9300, if there is improvement getting the qx9300 will not help you in that game
Or you could get it anyway for bragging

Hey guys, I have a small question for you. I ordered a new OCZ Vertex 2 180gb ssd and wanted to know if anyone here has tried to clone their old HDD to the new drive.
I know it's possible, but is there anything wrong with it?
Also, does the Ocz vertex need specific drivers to run or it uses the ones included in Win7? -
If you have an intel chipset motherboard you will need to install the intel matrix storage drivers to get full performance from the drive. Not sure about Nvidia chipsets.
Yes you can clone the old drive. -
I have a X305-Q706 and have upgraded to a QX9300 and have no issues. There is a lot to consider though... My temps did rise though...Mostly chipset...Nothing crazy though...
-
If I were you, I would do a clean install for the SSD, just to see how fast it goes
-
You've got the Nvidia 730i chipset, right?
-
yeh its awesome like 30-45min compared to 2 hrs or more
-
I have everything up and going again in a maximum time of 45 minutes. And I really love it
-
Correct. I am using drivers from Nvidia...
-
I have an intel 160gb SSD as my boot drive and I have a ghost image of my operating system on an OCZ 120gb SSD in the second drive bay. Total time to clone the operating system with all apps installed is about 7 minutes from the time I close the CD tray with Nortons Ghost 15 in it and hit the power button. With standard disc drives it took about 39 minutes.
The image includes:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
All drivers installed
Microsoft office 2007
Adobe Photoshop CS5 extended
Adobe Acrobat 9 pro
and half a dozen smaller apps. -
Do you know if performance will be degraded by simply cloning my HDD partition to the SSD? Also, does Norton Ghost keep the right 4k alignment for the SSD? I wanted to do it with Windows Backup, 'cause I'm sure that will keep the alignment of the drive thus preserving its performance.
-
The performance should not degrade at all, read speeds will always be good its only writes speeds that slow down. Read this article if you want to understand it better, stick with it its a bit of a read. Not sure about the other stuff tho

Thank you for the link!
Uhm, anyone with an Nvidia chipset can tell me if TRIM works fine under windows 7? I'm asking this because I read of people having issues with TRIM and Nforce chipsets... -
What do u mean trim? If u mean the feather touch buttons yes they are working but u need the bios version of at least 1,7 and the flashcard utility + VAP from toshiba's site..
-
Are there any X305-Q708 owners?
-
TRIM - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I have the dual 9800m gts and Nforce chipset, if that might be useful. If you need info about the QX9300, then I cannot help you :| -
The US Model spec
X305-Q708 Part Number: PQX31U-00U00C UPC: 883974146666
Operating System C1 2
• Genuine Windows Vista® Ultimate (SP1, 64/32-bit version)
Processor and Chipset3
• Intel® Core™ 2 Extreme Processor QX9300
o 2.53GHz, 12MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB
• NVidia® GeForce® 9400M chipset
So the QX9300 is no problem to install on the Nvidia board. -
Anyone with dual 9800m GTS SLI in their qosmio tried to overclock memory to 900mhz?
-
I am the one who asked you that on LaptopVideo2Go... Tried but can't without getting crashes in 3DMark and games. Are you able to complete a 3DMark with the memories clocked at 900mhz?
-
I were able to push my memory up to 940 before the whole thing got unstable.. I have the single 9800M GTX tou...
-
Guys, anyone know what the highes res. screen I can get for my Qosmio? Fast answers appreciated!
-
The 9800m GTX can surely handle 1920*1200. Not sure about higher resolutions though.
-
According to toshiba Max Resolution : 2,048 x 1,536
My question is can the qosmio x300 handle a 3d screen connected through the display port? Thanks in advance
I didnt notice that u meant the highest internal screen you can get for you qosmio x300. The highest internal resolution screen for qosmio x300 is 1680x1050. Its nearly full hd bt even though it is not full hd it might be better for some games since it doesnt need as much power so ur games play better on native resolution!
-
afaik our Toshiba Qosmios does not support'em? Or do they? I'm not alble to find anyone for sale anyways...
-
The highest screen resolution the qosmios came out with was 1650x1080
-
I wonder if there is a BIOS limitation on this...
-
Dont think so if you can get a screen to fit and plug in it'll work just like you plug in an external monitor
Thats my logic any way -
The problem is finding a screen! If u do find a full hd internal screen for qosmio x300 let me know!
-
I did a lot of search yesterday. I was not able to find anything over 1680x1050, so I'm quite sure that our Qosmios does not support anything above(?) I did not do searchs for general 17" only for Qosmios, so I do not know if anything above will work or not.. Also, judgment I've just saw your edit on your post
I've meent for my Qosmio, that's right
-
not surprising really i have never seen one with more then that res
-
Well, however.. I think I'll just stay at 1440x900! :/
-
the 1650x1080 does look nice though, it would slow it down a little bit
-
yeah, I think my 9800M GTX will handle it easy, but not that sure about my T9600 though..
-
haha yeh true
-
Today i made the return to my toshiba because my M15x died suddenly and i need the supervisor to give me a solution.
BTW anybody knows a driver that works fine with Windows 7 64 bits? (my headphones plugs even don't work)
I miss soo much my i7..
