So far they say no problems but then if you had nothing else to compare it to then you can't know if the other part is better if any different. I can say mine gets pretty warm but then I came from a P series. We only know the're differnt because of part numbers. And I am pretty certain Toshiba, as with any other builder, would utilize existing parts if they were the same instead of wharehousing dual parts for same use. I think we're seeing only 35w versions parts on Ebay because there would be no use to change a 45w part out and sell it. But they are clearly available new.

Well my cpu is a factory 44w so it should have the good heatsink. Anyhow the highest temp I get after say 4hrs of gaming in sc2 which is cpu demanding I get 80c. Idle I am always 38-40. Even listening to music, web, downloads it stays at 40. Btw haven't open it for more than 5 months to clean it from dust!

I'm not getting crashes, but some of the touch buttons (like the led switch) stop working if I disable some Toshiba services which I don't like running. Therefore I switch the leds via a shortcut to dimmer.exe.

Also, 258.96 are awesome drivers :)

Update: The CPU/VGA fans do not fit the area of the 2nd fan compartment. There is a fan header on mine (Intel MP45 mobo). It's very close to the power DV in connector (on back side of mobo).

Edit. I opened it again because the Q9100 ES QS I had before was locked (version QGMU). I ended up going with the one most use on here, version QAVR and it booted up as 2.4GHz. CPU-Z does list it as a Core2 Extreme ES (pretty cool). And with Intel Turbo kicked in I get 2.66 at stock before I even load ThrottleStop. Everest v5.50 ultimate Engeneer said it was running FSB 333 but I think it is reading RAM bus, so it shows 333x10.

Anyways, Now I got ThrottleStop going and it's doing 11x266 in 1st hour with fair temps compared to regular Q9100 at stock. Except in all fairness, my heatsink is clean now.

ThrottleStop ???. I like this app, it is working great end of 1st night. What is the best config to work with Windows Power profile or does it take over? I want TT profile 3/4 to keep low vcore and multi while idled till needed.

Use high performance setting and change the minimum use value of cpu to 100%. Then select power saver on throttle stop and it will manage it. If u want it to run at full speed all time deselect the power saver option!

I'm interested, or at least for what Toshiba model did you use from so I can go look? Shouldn't I at least be able to use my fn key with F keys to dimm monitor even if the drop down cards dont works? I can switch monitors but not dim either.

I saw a good deal on another Qosmio with a GTX460M 1.5G. I can get a new 460M based Qosmio for tad over twice what you will pay for a used 9800M GTX for this one. lol I'm holding out for a 485 2G so we'll see what happens.

Anywayz, I found a good sources for the lighted keyboard as soon as I get it here. I plan to tap into the (4 led) light strip above the touch pad since it can be cntrolled via on/off exe switch.

Here is the version I use of VAP!
    http://rapidshare.com/files/446023437/VAP.rar

Let me know if it works for you or not!
I have downloaded bunch of same drivers for my Qosmio, and tested out diffrent versions, so I have no idea about where I got this or my other drivers from! I mean, they are ofcourse from Toshiba, but don't know which relgion :)
I can post screenshot of my driver folder, if anyone is intrested!

Thanks lots, I will sure try and edit here to let you all know. Was there anything else I need to install Toshiba wise with these Value Added Package? I only want to load and run the very least needed apps just to use fn keys, lights on/off, and monitor dimmer.

oK, update. It worked. just before that I had the fn keys working for monitor dimmer but now I ut now the Dolby sound window opens, I still got media button use. Now theome button works so I guess it's a trade off.

Maybe we can use just the extracted files we want to load bk in with previous install. What "flash" cards install do you folks use? mine still doesnt work.

Thankx to Tunay for that download.

    Wow! Chill dude..
I did not fully get your post, what is working and what is not? Flash card driver should be included there as well, you can see ut under costum/advanced install. I do not install anything else then that, and mine is fully working as it should.

OK, 2nd update. I traded 1 set of problems for another. Now I have no fn ke function and after rsuming from S3 and S4 states I lost radio connection on WiMAX, Bluetooth and wifi (hard radio off). How do I manually turn this on without flashcard of fn function? It ha nothing to do with physical on/off switch in front. This has always been onn. I need a run command for the "all on" function for Wireless hardware raido switch. I rolled

Before the install of the linked VAP, here's what worked. I had no flashcards but has some (limited) function of fn keys. I had full media navigation functions (play, stop, pause, forward, back), I I had monitor dimmer & multi display select (Fn+F5). touchpad on/off. I had not the chance to test wireless radio select yet so I cant say for sure.

After I installed VAP I gained led on/off, camera launcher, dolby center, media home and still had media player functions. I lost monitor dimmer and multi monitor select as well as no wifi select funcion since radio was switched off after update. I could not remember how to turn it on. This happened long time ago and I had to do it through Windows but I forget.

Now I restored back to yesterday but wireless hardware radio is still off and I cant remember how to get it on within Windows .

    Any ideas.

Control Panel --> Network And Sharing Center --> Change Adapter Settings (?) --> And here try to activate your wireless card... Does it work out for you?

I've tried to translate this from Turkish to English, as my system is in Turkish, but I don't know if the exactlysame is also used in English OS'es. :) Let me know how it works for you please.

I think you also can run repair in Seven and Vista to fix this.

Anyone know anything about x300-150? I've just found it, and the problem is I do not understand that all websides says it has a 9800M GT 1GB, but I've googled this card and found it out to be a 512MB card. Who is right? Toshiba and all the other review sites, or notebookcheck.net?
It also does have a P8700 and 4GB of RAM etc.

    EDIT:
    Found more information here;
    http://nordic.computers.toshiba-eur...p=false&BV_UseBVCookie=yes&PRODUCT_ID=1062486

It looks like a Sweedish model (?) GPU is listed as 9800m GTS with 1GB memory?

I wen tthere and it indicates the card is enabled but if I run diagnostic (from Intel Pro set tools) it says hardware dadio id off, please enable. The physical front pannel scwitch is on anall this time. Turning it off and back off does nothing different except show it is disabled from taask manager. I will try another download I had last year for Flash cards only and see if it works again. It did under Vista Enterprise x64 sort of.

Yes but that was 2 years ago. It has workded under Vista X64 and now in Windowslooth Windows 7 X64. It's not even the card according to windows, just saus disconnected and radio off. Same for Bluetooth. I got my Bluetooth enabled by reinstalling software and driver and it turned it back on but WiMAX/WiFi is still off and I dont know hot to enable it other then physical switch or from Flashcards (if it worked) It worked under Vista Enterprise x64 last year. For some reason there were apps or updats that turned it off internally cause it happened the 1st year I had it.

Maybe somebody could share their install order of toshiba and or required apps, utilities and drivers to get a halfway functional control. If somebody could share the switch exe file so I can install complete utilities and run it manually or install it only by itself.

I've replaced the 5100 AGN with 6300, it did not work.

Have you tried the repair method? I really have no idea about that, as I'm always able to enable and disable by Windows.

That's what I need to know. Where is that command function switch that Toshiba flashcards uses to turn on or off wifi devices beyond physical fron pannel switch or from network center? Last time this happened, it did not matter that front switch was on and network connection enabled because if the internal level radio is off it cant use it. I got Bluetooth working by reinstalling but it did not do the same for Intel WiFi. I will try complete uninstall and reinstall of intel drivers and apps for network adapter then.

I use the method I've wrote few post above.. But, rightclick on the signalbars and then select repair should fix the problem ;) Windows suggest you to turn on your WiFi, and gives you a option like "click here to enable radio signal" or something like that :)

Wow, this is really weird. The troubleshooter just says to turn on switch, If I troubleshoot in WiMAX utility it says "The hardware radio switch is off" box to turn on from Intel utility is grayed out but shows WiMAX and Wifi off. but available.

Update: So aparently once the all off singnal is seent to the actual pci-e card it is off internally. So reinstalling did nothing for that. So I remembered I had the origional Vista Install (Toshiba) and booted into it and of course, still off. but I was able to enable it in the working flash cards pull down menue. So now I boot back in to 7 and it's oN again. Turns out I was able to manually open the flashcards config app in TOSHIBA folder @ C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\FlashCards\TfcConf\TfcConf.exe and you have to select allow mouse to bring down flash cards. I still have no Fn key function anymore.

Tunay! Do you have Fn functions to dim monitor or turn off touchpad with your current version of TVAP? I found v1.2.33.64 and it seams the same. removes the monitor dimmer touchpad control. and Fn functions. Flashcards will not appear from pressing Fn key, only if I use mouse to top when enabled in config file.

Do you think Toshiba colud do something like that?

I think it would have been nice for Toshiba to release a compatable driver packagee updated for Windows 7 x64. I guess they figure just focus on the new models and forget the past. I like how ASUS try's to continue support on their older mmdels like that. How does Sager do? I plan on a Sager for my next build here. And yes, this time I plan to buy it based around the 2G GDDR5 graphics and who cares what else is in it since I can get that later. lol.

Actually toshiba did a good job with windows 7 64bit drivers! I have all the drivers working fine. No crashes, slow down or errors. Everything works as it should. Only problem is that they never update the display drivers. Yes the 186.42 drivers do work perfectly but they don't give u the performance u can get with the latest. That's the only downside of toshiba. And for an SLI system the latest drivers make a big difference. One more thing I can't understand is why does toshiba not allow us to install nvidia drivers? Why aren't their cards supported? I have to always modify them and install them. The best one up to now is the 258,96 !

Yeh the new gtx 485m is ridiculously good
Are you going for an sli version? Because as far as I'm concerned the sager NP7200 is really ugly. The NP8100 is ok though, but then I'm used to my Alienware so :D

P8170 series , if I can save more, i'd like the X58 based NP7280. I'm not needing SLI and especially if the cost is so high. i mainly need the max GDDR5 I can get on a decent single GPU and so far I only see it offered from the GTX485M. Are the X58 versions using a different mobile socket or same like before, just using a desktop socket and CPU in low power mode? I used to be into the cool looks but today, it's more about what will get the work done. Them Sagers are cool to upgraden your own later.

I personally like the way our Qosmios look better then the Ailenware! Copule of my friends have Alienware, and it is simply, too simply (Sorry Kenny)...

But I don't know, also all of my friends, which has seen my Qosmio says that is the best speaker system in a laptop ever :D

My GF does agree here as well, other then she things it is more for girls then boys :(

Well when I bought my qosmio I was between the alienware m17x r1 and qosmio x300. I went with the qosmio because of the lack of dell support in my country! But alienware doesn't look very nice.. Whoever sees qosmio x300 and m17x they prefer the x300 design. All of my friends were amazed by the x300. Even when I go to the library with this (battery runs 2hrs for word .. ) everyone looks at me and I got some good comments! Only times I got bad comments was from mac owners who said that it looks (due to red) or its very big(huge). Well it is if u compare it to their macs but can their macs do what the qosmio does? NOT!! I regret buying an sli toshiba though because of the lack of display drivers!! Does anyone know if the sager is more fat than the qosmio? If yes by how much?

Yes you are right getting the job done is most important.
X58 is a desktop chip-set so it uses desktop CPU's, not in low power mode though which is why the x7200 gets only 30min battery on low-med usage

Apparently its is almost 2.5 inches or 60mm, my Alienware is 2inches or 50mm but at least its not a brick

Yes qosmio does have the best sound, my m17x is a bit crisper but lacks the bass of the qosmio

Its is strange almost every one I have seen post about the looks of the x300 have hated it until now that is :D
As much as I like the x300, Alienware just has a cleaner/sharper look, I just dont like how glossy the x300 is.

Well kenny27 I hate the glossy keyboard but for now I am using an external one so no need to clean it and looks nice. When I go to the library though after those 2hrs I need to clean the keyboard again cz it seems dirty and old! Do you know where I can buy a clevo based in UK ?

I wanted to update. I updated to the 2.10 bIOS (Intel Q725/Q705) last Wednesday, so I dont know if some of the weirdness has anything to do with that. I had trouble since testing the TVAP last Thursday with Bluetooth connection resuming from S3/S4 wake up modes. Who's using Bluetooth external keynoard and or mouse with wake up from sleep/hibernate? The only other thing new to the system since last week is the QAVR revision CPU since QGMU. I been using ThrottleStop and OC with vcore is changed and left as such during sleep and often hibernate. Is that OK to do?

It's working today, but ever since I messed with the TVAP stuff things were all weird for a few days with Wireless connections waking up with computer from sleep and hibernate. I had to reinstall my bluetooth devices and reset hardware radio in WiMAX and WiFi cards but so far for a day it is working again.

Who knows what color that backlit keyboard will light from the Satellite A500? I found the easiest power source is the led block above the touch pad. a 2 wire plug can be taped into.
