It will be white, you mean the led color or keyboard? However, take a look at this, you can always do this :D

Hi, its the x300-156 version (portuguese i guess)
Yep i alredy ordered an backlight keyboard from ebay, the A500 one,
a friend of mine got also the same qosmio and he managed to light it up!

How he doe was just to solder 2 flat cables to one of the
3 red lights coming from the sides and works like a charm
tho u cant turn them off only by shuting down.

Several areas to light the keyboard. I set up mine to use the 2 pin connector at the 4 bulb strip that lights touch pad strip. The only real challange is knowing the polarity of the led supply off the keyboard as I dont have it in front of me to speak for. I dont know if it will come as a flat ribbon strip or wired connector plug. My bet is it will have flat ribbon so we can just solder a plug to tap into motherboard plug socket so it is controlled by the led touch keys on/off. I will post a pic of this connector

The qosmio isin't painted, but actualy got vinil tape on it.
Since my warranty alredy run of i striped the whole computer and sticked the vinil onto it to look perfect on the closure.

Still i missed the HOt air gun to make it perfect, will do
a new MOD on the end of the month.

Im waiting on my new keyboard so i can do the lighting guide stuff.

Same as urs but with Q9100 ES (with unlocked multiplier)
    @ 3.0ghz, plus SSD 80gb OCZ, and 8Gig ram 1066
(so i can Overclock a bit the bus from the mems, 1333 wouldnt allow me that)

    Yes nforce 730i.

Using 1333mhz i would only overclock by using multiplier
    but the 1066mhz were cheaper 4x4gb = around 100$ (80€)

This way i can use cheaper 1066mhz overclock them to 1260
and get the same performance. (or almost the same)

Now i only need a new Screen since 1680x1050 is 2 much for me, 1400x900 would be perfect gaming wise and eye wise.

Wanting a lower res screen? Wow! :p Qosmio with the 9800m sli doesn't lag on any game (at least on the ones I tried) on 1680x1050 so why would u want a lower res screen? It makes no sense!!

How much are the higher res screens going for for US market, best deals?

Anybody having Bluetooth wake up issues under Windows 7 x64 on 2.10 bIOS (PM45). I cant figure if it is a Microsoft or Toshiba or Bluetooth chip issue. Who makes the Bluetooth chip in our X305's?

    Hello,

I have a X305-Q701 (9700GTS, 8 gigs Ram) and would like to upgrade the stock P7350 CPU.

Will the X9100 or the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000, Q9200, or QX9300 work on this unit?

Has anyone been successful upgrading to the Quad core CPUs on the X305-Q701?

What CPU would be the best for video editing and vmware? I only game once in a while, and mainly need it for video editing and vmware. So, I was thinking the Quad core might be best for what I need?

Vmware requires Intel-VT and EM64T, and apparently my current P7350 does not support this!

I've researched this form, but haven't found a definite answer about the Quad core CPUs working for sure on the x305-Q701.

    Thanks!

Well people who have the intel chipset as u do have said that they work. So I suppose that the quad cores are compatible. There was even an x305 with qx9300 and 9800m gtx which used the intel motherboard. So since I dont have the intel motheboard based x305 I cannot be definite but it seems to work!

Quad core processor is definitely suit your needs.
I recommend at least to get Q9100 since it has larger cache than Q9000. :)

    Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q9100
    (12M Cache, 2.26 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)
Nice indeed! This is much less money than the QX9300 too!
Hopefully it works on the x305-Q701?

Hello, its been a while since i last made a visit here.

Was browsing through looking for some BIOS hack-mods.

Hoping that some day someone made a usefull BIOS with switchable multiplier/FSB for folks like me running with and QX9300 :)

    So any luck?

Yes, the quad cores work great one Qosmio PM45 Intel based system. I used both the OEM Q9100 and now a Q9200 ES with good results. I have noticed some heat so I am to asume that Toshiba listed quad core spacific parts for a reason but since nobody with a factory quad core can or will take pix of their parts to show us we cant know. I would try for the QAVR/QAVS ES version of the Q9200 so you have overclockability to 3GHz in video rendering. That's where I use mine with ThrottleStop and it does great as long as you can keep it cool underneeth. mine hits 78c on all 4 cores while rendering at 266x11.5 for a nice 3.06GHz. The only better thing you can do for your video rendering is a 1G GDDR video card of any model but I only saw the 9800M GTX and its not worth the cost used compared to what you can put towards a new laptop with a GTX-460M with 1.5G GDDR5 in it. 512 GDDR3 will do but just slower. The 2nd best video editing upgrade to more cores is SSD hard drives. It is well worth the investment if at least 1 as primary. Try for a 120 or 128G. Many on rebate or local sales for just over $200.00. I got a Patriot Inferno 120G last week at Fry's for $199.00 in store sale normally $269.00

I just got some really good news. I do some volunteer work at the Toshiba laptop forum that is sponsored by Toshiba, I'm even a user moderator there. Well I just found out that Toshiba has nominated me for the Microsoft MVP award. Microsoft Most Valuable Professional
I find out in April if I have won.

    3.60GHz? wow!

Other than being unlocked, are the specs the same on the Q9100 and Q9200? Are you using the stock CPU fan on your X305-Q705? Did you use Arctic Silver 5 or Céramique? Any ideas yet on how to better cool the X305?

Currently, the 9800 GTX video cards are to expensive! I'm watching for a good deal on a SSD drive!

Also, did you get a chance to test the Kingston HyperX series (KHX1600C9S3K2/8GX) "x" or non "x" version ram on your motherboard yet?

Any luck on getting a lighted keyboard to work on your system?

Have you considered changing your LCD screen for something better?

I had to use the stock Q705 cooler, It isn't built to solid, only one single copper heatpipe and all aluminum fin heat sink. I may mod an IBM pull to fit since I dont need the chipset plate to line up. I will also change the chipset aluminum plate on top with a copper plate hand cut. I did use Artic Silver #5 and redid chipset as well. It takes about a good 5 days of heat up and cool down to set in but now I'm OK. It hit 80c during break in till it set up right.

I barely ordered my lighted keyboard today so I will keep posted as I get it rigged up to light. I was luck to find it in Russian so I grabbed it while I could.

I am shopping for a Blue-Ray burner so I do want a higher res screen. What part number are they using to upgrade? How much does it cost?

Not sure how well the 9700M GTS video card would do @ 1680x1050?

I'm away on travels right now, but as soon as I unpack my externals, I have some detailed PDF images from Toshiba I can post to share. one thing I see in lots of the tutorials is lack of detail of screws and where they go and how to correctly remove the DC in power connector.

For starters I will add; For basic removal of monitor and motherboard, you will only be dealing with 3 screw sizes (not including tiny screws for mini PCI-E cards). long (2.5x10m), medium (2.5x6m), & short (2.5x4m) Use a angled plastic lever to safely lift certain connectors off for removing ribbon cables as these can break easily if pulled too hard. I recomment taking photos of your project as you go along to make shure. Removing monitor isn't needed to remove motherboard but I advise it if only to make it easier to manage due to unballanced weight with it attached. - You should remove DC in power connector from lower casing side of laptop, nit from motherboard connector as it is easier.
With 1 finger pressing from back of DC power in socket, pull upward on metal box of connector untill it snaps out, pressing a light push on tab just above (it says "press here").

PM me for any detailed questions or tips I might be able to help with.
