Metro's cool, hard though. Same makers as the awesome STALKER series, also hard.

Arma is a military open world game by the makers of Operation Flashpoit a classic old series.

    I miss my PC.

Aw what a shame to hear! Why did it burn out? Was it because of the keyboard backlight mod? Did you use LED drivers for the screen backlight?

Hi guys, the problem wasnt the keyboard, was my battery had a short circuit
    and well bye bye...

Anyhow, if ur interessed in the parts, please leave me an private message.
Will be glady up to speak up on a ventrilo, TS or even messenger.

Im selling every single part. apart from the motherboard.

The videocard will only work if you had a previous 9700GTS even with an intel
chipset, since the socket is the same, and cooling aswell.

(the lcd cable must connect to the motherboard and not the card itself)

Im selling aswell the backlit keyboard with the mod ready to plug and light up.

My Qosmio died again.... I only turned it on and Puff! No Video =/

The most funny thing was that my mother only used it (i gave the laptop to her, i have my MBP now) for playing card games (of Windows), never hard use like videogames (since almost 1 years and half). This is the mobo number 7 that died...

Also i replaced the Thermal Paste with MX-4 like 5 months ago and the temps with this model never decreased a lot, sincerely the most horrible laptop that i had bought.

Hopefully my friend was interested in buying the laptop and gave me another Toshiba for my mother, i find this a good exchange because as the motherboard died (and i dont want to put more money on that crappy Qosmio) another new would cost me a lot (I dont have warranty anymore)

    Never going again with Toshiba...

P.S: Toshiba support sucks, the technicians only have the name because they don't know to resolve a little problem with overheating (replace thermal paste)

People! I have installed the recovery from toshiba. The conflict still exist but since others have it it might be normal. No crashes in black ops even in sli. I tested it for 40min. I will continue testing though. So it might have been driver issue... The only problem I have is that the sound allows only stereo. This is the recovery media from toshiba. I will install windows 7 using toshiba's upgrade disc and see if the freeze does not come back! I started loving my laptop again! Finally I can game!!

I have disabled page file. Lowered the setting of texture quality to normal (so that it doesn't blue screen now due to no page file) everything else is maxed up and the game runs like a charm. I think I will call it a day and say that it's the turbocache messing up my system.. I might buy the 8gb ram and test it myself since no one is willing to test it for me..

What if you try removing the robson module? Or getting a bigger one even? Just a thought here I have no idea how it works, but it links in with your ram.

    judgment,
I did confirm this for you, as we don't have the same GPU we both do have same chpiset. I were not able to play games with PageFile disabled before I've upgraded my RAM to 8GB. Now, I'm able to play GTA IV at medium settings.

Just another question about X300/305. Where can I buy parts for this laptop? I have seen a bit around on ebay, but did not find anything good. I do not want used fake parts, I can pay a bit more and buy genuie, new parts. Any ideas?

Yes I know u did but u cannot tell me about the freeze since u have a single gpu. I have disabled page file and still get the random freeze (rarely now but still get it). So I suppose its something else.. I am installing windows vista 32bit from the recovery media of toshiba and see if it works better. Probably tomorrow I will go buy 8gb ram and test it (if they have it in store..).

Try Laptop Parts & Repair, Notebook Computer Repair, Printer Parts - Spare Parts Warehouse
    They do ship internationally.
They are normally cheaper than most other vendors, but don't by screws there.

It's a mini pci-express board, so they pop in and out quite easily. I know I don't have one but was thinking you might as you have a slightly higher spec model than mine. If you did I think it would be under the keyboard next to the wifi card. And you're right, these machines are such a pain to disassemble!

But yeah it's just a thought, like I said I have no idea if this would have any affect at all.

I believe I know what the problem is. It seems fixed now! Don't know why but when sli is on I have to close the gadgets. After doing that no random freezes.. At least up to now. I will continue testing though. Cannot really understand why it randomly freezes with sli + gadgets and does not freeze with single gpu + gadgets. Anyone knows y? For me it makes no sense..

    PS: file paging is enabled!!

Indeed it is! :p I have tested the system for more than 2 hours without the gadgets. After reopening the gadgets it took 5min and the freeze reoccurred. I don't know why this happens but I am happy that my dual gpu system is not malfunctioning. I will disable page file as soon as I install the 8gb ram! If the problem reoccurs I will let u know! Thank u everyone for any tips! If anyone knows why the gadgets + sli do that I will be more than happy to know!

Maybe simply because your gadgets just hogs a greate amount that is necesarry for turbocache? :D

They sell the screws individually, not as a set and the screws are very expensive.
I have bought laptop screws off of ebay very cheap.

    Me again.

Got my Toshiba X300 back from the shop. Had skipping keyboard replaced, they "cleaned" the cooling system. I told them that wouldn't help.

I had the dreaded crash to black, sound loop lock screen. Needed hard boot. Many have had it.

Of course it still happened, couple hours after firing it up.

I also have updated to Win 7 and now have 8 Ram.

After the latest crash I did the "Riva" download, enabling 3D tip that was suggested kindly a few pages back.

Now the waiting game, will it crash again?.

What a drag. I have no faith in this machine anymore.

Keyboard still skips too, I use a wireless instead.

Thanks for all your support here.

Fingers crossed, I'm not very hopeful. sigh. :(

This fixes the blackscreen crash on 99.9% of the X300/X305's out there.

"1. Download the latest version of RivaTuner here: RivaTuner

    2. Install RivaTuner and Run the program.

    3. In the Main tab, click on the arrow next to Customize under Driver Settings to bring up more options then click System Settings (the first Icon)

    4. In the Overclocking tab, where it says "Force constant performance level" select performance 3D.

    5. Click apply, and reboot the system when prompted.

If for some reason the "Force constant performance level" drop-down is grayed out you will need to go to the "Power users" tab in the initial RivaTuner window. Then click on the "+" next to "RivaTuner \ NVIDIA \ Overclocking". Look for "EnablePerfLevelForcing" and under Value type 1. Click apply, this should allow you to modify "Force constant performance level." Finally, follow steps 3-5 above."

I installed windows 7. Disabled the gadgets but still the freeze came up. I disabled aero and voila no freeze in windows 7. I will update as soon as I get the 8gb of ram. I really cannot understand why the single gpu would work fine with aero and gadgets and the sli freezes when those 2 features are enabled.

I have gadgets that when closed and I reopen them they need to be reconfigure. Which is too annoying. Does anyone know a setting for them to just be disabled when gaming? Thx in advance! In vista u can exit the sidebar and it will reopen when I restart the system. Is there a way to do it in windows 7?

Ah, that sucks! However, see if the trick few posts above works.

If disabling gadgeds gives you so much bettter fps, it must me something wrong with ur gadgeds :D

Okay, I've fired up my Qosmio. I do need a new plam-rest and underpanel, as I linked. Ah, and a new keyboard of course. You think is worth fixing? I do have the model with 9800M GTX and Intel chipset (fingerprint reader, dubble pci etc.)

    What do you think?

Well of course it is worth it. What u said will cost u approx up to a max of 300euro, ur machine is worth 1000euro at least..
For my gadgets oh well I just formated.. So I only had the clock and the cpu usage from windows. Still they caused the freeze. The frame increase in sc2 is because of using dual gpus. Me and a lot of people had crashes, black screens and black lines when playing sc2 in sli. So we all used the single gpu mode from manage 3d in nvidia control panel. Now after disabling the aero (from .exe properties) and gadgets from control panel/features the game does not crash in sli. Same goes for the black ops. No random freezes. When I reenable the gadgets or the aero here we go a crash in sc2 or a freeze in black ops occurs! So I really don't know why this is happening.. I can now play sc2 maxed out with 40fps on average getting 20fps on the most demanding battles (lots of zergs on the screen etc..). I am still waiting for my ram.. It has to come by 6 so I will see if the ram makes any difference.. At least I can use the laptop as it is supposed to be used (gaming) but I will miss my currency, home time, weather and temps gadgets that I use... :/

That was if I were going to buy a used Qosmio 14s or something like that. I then would have all the parts. However, I've now desided to buy the parts I need only. If I can find'em.

I checked the 14s model u were telling us. It is quite a good price for what u get (300euro u told us?). If it is in a working condition for up to 500euro then it is worth buying it. Although I would prefer to fix my own laptop (ur laptop) since I would know what went wrong and how I handled it throughout its life...

It waws 300 USD. But, that guy was located near iceland :D Top of the Norway, he sold it to another person so it is out of question now. Either, I do have to order new parts and fix it, or just let it collect dust.

by the way, I've requested modded BIOS today, to be able to disable IDA and overclock with thorttlestop. And a removal of whitelist as well.

That sounds good! Man have u ever heard of qosmio x300 sli version (9800m GTS DUAL SLI) on the intel chipset? Was there such a release? I was browsing some forums and I saw people saying that they have qosmio x300 with dual 9800m gts in sli with an intel chipset.. If that is then that's why toshiba uk thinks I have an intel chipset and thus some people experience different errors from me.. The user says he is using x300-14m laptop but cannot find a specs list in english..

I've looking through all the models listed for Norway. I've found X300-14U. It does have QX9300 and 9800M GTS SLI with res. of 1,680 x 1,050. It says nothing about the Chipset tou. That is the top model I think.

I've just got P.M. tou. It'll be done, for the IDA part I mean, but he was unsure about whitelist.

Failed upgrades to QX9300 with nForce chipset, maybe it is a Intel chipset?

I don't know. The nforce 730i supports the qx9300 so it should be able to handle it. But they provide only 2 bios upgrades. 1 is for intel and 1 for nvidia. It should have been a 3rd one for the dual gpus with intel. I don't know what they have done. My laptop : Qosmio X300-14X - Product Specifications - Toshiba shows all the details except of the chipset. But I can confirm that my chipset is an nforce 730i.

I have no idea either... Nope, Toshiba does not tell us which Chipset each model has. Same for Norwegian part of Toshiba as well.
