Hi, iv'tested my 2x9800m gts sli on a qosmio x305 with an intel chipset
and a 9700m gts and worked just fine, the only thing happening is the hybrid sli.

You cant disable SLI whatsover, if u do so, your gona get an BSOD and you will
have to reinstall all the windows again...

Because the intel chipset lacks the onboard graphic card and causes the
9800m gts to get complety OFF and well... figure out, no vga on!! hehe.

BTW just sold my 9800m gts, i might get hands on a new one in a week, from
a friends qosmio, hes selling hes qosmio parts aswell, bios got fried UP lol.

(and btw, carefull trying to install a modified bios, thats what ed up hes
qosmio... he wanted to install windows XP on it with Achi compatibility mode an bye bye)

I've atm. have nothing to loose. Morehowever, if I'M going to use it as my main laptop I must remove the Whitelist for 6300. It is a must, as my second home has bad signal into my rom.

They made two Sli models, both had the Nvidia chipsets. The only differences between model numbers in various countries was the languages and such.
How did you plug the sli graphics card into a board with the intel chipset???
I know for a fact that the socket the GPU plugs into is different in the single GPU intel boards and the sli nvidia chipset boards. I have an X305-720,Single GPU and an X305-708 (temporarily out of service) with sli and I have compared the hardware when I had them both torn open..
The single gpu graphics cards for the X300/X305's sockets are slightly longer than the sli graphics cards socket.
or do you mean that you have tried it with two different systems???

For me it doesn't make sense as to how an intel based qosmio x300 can run the dual 9800m GTS sli gpu....

My ram arrived this morning! I have tested the laptop with starcraft 2 (SC2) and CAD black ops. I have disabled the page file since it is not needed anymore. I am glad there is no hardware problem so no need to send it to toshiba. I bought kingston 8gb 1333mhz ram since they had lifetime warranty. The gadgets though still need to be disabled in order to game... :/ any solutions?

    @Judgment
In fact , I plan to buy 8GB DDR3 PC8500 because it's match for our laptops.
In my country(Thailand), 8GB DDR3 PC8500 and 8GB DDR3 PC10600 are at the same price so I'll go for PC10600 like yours but I think no matter PC10600 or PC8500 is put in our laptops, it's the same performance because FSB for our laptops is maximum at 1066 !!

That is correct. The only reason I got the pc10600 is that I can use it on a newer laptop later and because there was no pc8500 available in stock in my country so delivery would take way too long due to easter vacations!

    This is correct.

However, this is also an option. But, in feature, I think most laptops will be sold with 6 or 8GB. 4GB, here in Norway is almost gone, 6 and 8GB is the thing. Even 16GBs here...

Awesome!! Sorry I was not able to test for you, I have not been able to locate my Toshiba box...Which would have all the old parts in it!!

I tried both 10600 and 8500 and noticed extra heat and my FSB : DRAM was 4:10 with 10600 vs. 1:2 with 8500... Thoughts? I posted pics in this thread somewhere...

I formated my laptop again. And I found out that even with gadgets disabled the black ops would freeze. I installed rivatuner and set it to 3d performance on both cards. Tried the game and no freeze. Then I enabled the gadgets and the freeze came back. Disabled the gadgets and freeze is gone. So for the freeze to be gone u have to use both riva tuner and disable the gadgets. Really don't know y..

Cheers to Priest King and Tunay.

Update , my X300 has not had the black screen lock up since doing the "Riva" fix.

    I hope this continues.

With 8 ram she runs nice, playing Nascar Racing 2003 again. Runs sweet even on Windows 7.

    You guys are life savers.

    Cheers. :D

Well I was waiting for a 6.9 ;p ! Nevertheless sc2 is fixed but black ops still freezes (although its rarely now). I believe the x300 sli has the same problem the m17x r1 had. Its the pci express slot that cannot handle the dual gpus.. I hope they can add an option of forcing the slot to work as v1.1 like in the m17x r1. That is the only way to solve the problem so far and I cannot do it from within windows.. :/ I am going to e-mail back the toshiba techs and see what they say. I think I am going to sell my x300... or maybe just keep it for 1 more year and then buy the new m17x...

As long as they're using the 230W power adapter, there's no reason why it shouldn't work.

It won't work at all because the sli GPU cannot even plug into an Intel chipset motherboard. The sockets for the GPU's are different in the Nvidia and Intel motherboards...

If i have to I will take pictures of the two different GPU's with rulers next to the sockets so that you will be able to see that they are not the same socket...
The sockets look similar, but one is about 1/4 of an inch longer than the other is.

People finally my qosmio x300 is working! :D Hope it stays that way! I have downloaded and installed manually the nforce chipset driver from m17x r1 (15,57). Used the have disk method to install them manually since only smu could be installed from the setup.exe . Then I installed the 267.24 drivers from nvidia. Cir is enabled, gadgets are enabled and aero is enabled. I have been running black ops for a couple of hours and there was no freeze up to now! We'll keep u informed if it continues this way! :D

I will send the laptop for a hardware repair in a month when I will be back home for summer vacations. At least in my country I know the technician so I can go and bring it to the manager himself.. I am now testing with only 1 4gb ram. I read that nforce 730i had problems with both slots of ram + dual pci express and was fixed with a bios update.. If toshiba didn't do the bios update it might be that the problem. Will let u know what the results are. IF it is hardware I will have the gpu replaced (probably) since it is covered by warranty.

Okay that sounds good, keep us updated. I've have the same chipset as yours on my other laptop with 8GB RAM, but it is higly possible that ASUS patched that up as I never ever had problems with 8GB RAM, I have used it since day 1 i bought the laptop.

After all the mess with my laptop and testing I tried reading m17x r1 forums which has the same chipset as my laptop (although most configs are dual 280m gtx + 9400m g hybrid). I saw that many of them had problem running the new nvidia drivers without getting freezes and crashes or black screens. The solution for them was a bios update from dell which allowed them to downgrade their pci express slot to gen1. That gave them very little decrease since their chipset runs each gpu at 8x instead of 16x. Same happens with the qosmio. So I thought that there is no solution since I don't believe toshiba will do the same for the qosmio. What I thought was try to increase the pci express slot mhz. a gen 1 x16 or a gen2 x8 pci-e has 2500mhz. A gen 2 16x has 5000mhz. I changed mine from 2500 to 2540. It seems to have fixed the game. I have left the game on playing as spectator to test it further but so far I gamed online for an hour with no freezes... I still believe that toshiba should give us a bios update but I don't believe they will do. I will test all day 2day. If it freezes I will let u know.. Fingers crossed everything will be ok! :D

I just saw this post on the other forum "Official nvidia 267.76 looks like stable in single graphic card mod, got so many crash in SLI (Call of duty MW2) ". So it seems its not my hardware! This is the 3rd guy I see with that problem..

Freeze problem fixed! Don't know what fixed it but the things I tested was chipset compatibility in rivatuner, explorer.exe in manage 3d set in sli and prefer maximum performance and finally disable page file.. Don't know if its one of this or a combination of these that solved the problem... Drivers used 267.24 (BETA).

    I upgraded my Ram from 4GB PC8500 (original) to 8GB PC10600
but in windows experience I still got subscore only 7.0 at the same position.
I don't know why subscore is the same between before and after.
The only thing I got is total available graphics memory 4095MB.
Why don't I get more subscore Memory (Ram) ?

Not all ram is made the same way, or with the same quality of components, so some will perform better than others. Your new ram is faster than the chipset will run, so it is forced to run at the slower system speed.

That is as said above all about the brand. Or "quality" however, WEI is nothing to trust.

    My ASUS with 120GB SSD, nForce 730i chipset, P8400 and 8GB 1333Mhz DDR3 G.SKILL RAM get 6.5

The 8GB RAM in my laptop on my signature, get 6.4.

I actualy had issues with black ops before, with stutering and some low frame rates.

Instaled the 8gb of ram and still stuters.
Then the new CPU and still, the only thing i
did to prevent it, was turning the CIR on the bios, its the infrared thing for the comand
and now its freezing and stuter free. try it out.

But dont forget, this game is quad core reaper, he only works well on quadcores like mine or the i7's.

Okay I will test it. You mean I have to disable the CIR from bios? I had the same observation before but it freezed later.. Mine is a dual core so you believe it is freezing because of my dual core? Which drivers are you using?

    Latest, with .inf file modified.

I belive if its only black ops freezing, its due to the processor mate, if you read
the forums, steam, and the oficial ones, everyone states the same, black ops is a
    quad core eater!

You will only get rid of them constant freezing by adding a quad core, even a damn
i5 that is not a "true" quad core, makes the game run smooooth.

Why do you modify the inf file since the drivers install without any modifications? My fps are very good. Only problem is the random freeze.. Moreover why does it run fine on single gpu and freezes when using the dual gpu ? It makes no sense.. If the laptop does not have any hardware defects I am willing to buy a qx9300 but until I know that its not good investing on this machine...
