Now, that is intresting!![]()

267.24 are beta drivers from nvidia official website. I found out that they give the most fps over any other driver (even tested desktop drivers). I do not care about 3d mark results though. I care about real in game performance so I cannot say if it will be better in 3d mark as I stopped testing it.. Moreover are u sure black ops does not freeze when u have the 799mhz in memory clock? I have the memory clock always downlock to 750 now that I have found that this solves the issue. 1-5fps loss is worth it when you have a fully stable system. As to why the default 799mhz are not stable I have no clue. Black ops runs fine for 20-60min for me. After that it freezes and I need to ctrl + alt +del and then esc and the game continues fine until the next crash. Maybe its because of my dualcore but when my memory clock is downclocked to 750mhz the game runs fine without any freeze at all. So since I mostly play sc2 (before I could not run it in SLI since it gave black lines, crashes and black screen), now I can run it on SLI without any issue (when underclocked to 750mhz). As I said I have no clue why this is happening so I was thinking if I have a faulty gpu or power supply. That's why I asked for help since I have warranty and if it is a hardware failure I can send it for a repair. Repairs in my country take too long though (1-3months) and thus if I send it and get it back with the same problem (since it was not a hardware failure) I will be without a laptop for a 3month period without any gain! Anyone with SLI please test SC2 and Black ops and let me know!!
PS I have tried the final release of the newer drivers but they give u 10-15fps less in sc2 and 5-10fps less in black ops. I have not tested any other game so I just suppose that 267.24 BETA have something that makes them better. -
I can fully understand your situation. Well, I don't know how Toshiba support is in your country, but it really stinks if they don't do anything and you have to be without a laptop for 3 month. I couldn't do it without a week
-
He said he also down clocks it to 750 -
HI all you guys.
Yesterday I went to IT-City so I just changed my from ram from 8GB PC10600 to 8GB PC8500. The reason is that PC8500 is suit for our laptop which have no Nvidia chipset because timing is lower. The performance increases slightly after I just upgrade to PC8500, although I can't feel that it's better. Anyway, If you have Nvidia chipset , it's better to use PC10600 because you can get the best performance from your ram !! -
I saw that but he also said that black ops was okay...
-
Did u try black ops without the downclock? With what u said I am not sure if u run it while it is downclocked or with normal factory clocks. Please let me know.. For me black ops when downclocked to 750mhz memory it runs fine! When in default clocks which is 799 it freezes as explained above. If ur having the exact same problem then it means my hardware is fine..
-
When your chipset downclockls the memory CL also changes. AFAIK.
-
The 1333mhz of my ram allow me to overclock quite a lot my fsb of the cpu.. Before this was not possible..
-
It gave the opposite effect on my ASUS
-
I play Black Ops with memory clocked to 750 mhz. That way it freezes almost never, even though it rarely happens even at 750 mhz.
I've seen this behaviour in many games, so I just keep my memory to that. Performance loss is very negligible.
I guess our hardware is fine
-
Hi everyone
For judgment im the guys from laptopvideo2go
I have installed the beta driver 267.24 like you and downclock the memory to 750mhz. I have a X300-14N with 9800M GTS SLI + 9400m GT chipset.
I have play MW2 during 2 hours without crash/freeze in sli (and multi gpu 1 in the config file of Callofduty).
I need to try some other games but it look likes good
Ps: For information i have remove my batterie, i need to try with batterie+power plug AC (cause i see on a post there is a problem with the alimentation of the X305 and some guys do a modification on rivatuner to put all the time the X305 in Performance 3D). -
I think this confirms that judgment does not have a hardware failuare.
Welcome to NBR DR.w
-
Yup, 750mhz makes SLI stable. Crashes occur very rarely, and only after 4-5 hours of gaming.
-
I am pleased to hear that 3 months of various tests have fixed the sli problem for others as well. I am glad I dont have a hardware failure. Ur x300 is the sli version so u dont need the rivatuner fix as it was needed only on the intel based x300. I played 3 hours black ops.then my bro played 4 hrs sc2 and I had no crash!
-
Just jumpin in here with an update on my X300 that had the hard crash to black.
Did the "Riva" graphic card fix, setting 3D to 1.
Still working well, starting to feel confident.
You guys rock. -
Hey! That is good to hear!
-
Seems like I am not selling my qosmio now that the SLI works and I get 60+ fps on the latest games everything on very high!
Qosmio now works as it should work when I bought it! Toshiba support SUCKS!! In the summer I am going to install a qx9300 and an ssd! Will keep u updated!
-
Glad to hear the sli prob is already solved after a long long long time...
-
Now that the SLI problem is fixed can anyone help me fix my audio from 2 to 4,1 setup? I never had the option of 4,1 even in vista under with the recovery discs so I would like to know which driver u people installed to achieve the 4,1 option!
-
I'm going to install those 267.24 beta notebook drivers and shoot a couple of benchmarks to see how they perform compared to 258.96 desktop drivers.
-
nice work guys good to see that all the major problems have finally been fixed with this model
oh and if you guys are interested here is a really nice site for wallpapers -
Alright, I installed and tested those 267.24 beta drivers. Here are the results of my benchmarks:
267.24 beta notebook release
3DMark Vantage: 8750
3DMark 06: 12.500
WEI: 7.1
258.96 desktop release
3DMark Vantage: 9200
3DMark 06: 13.300
WEI: 7.2
I used desktop 298.96, modded with the latest PhysX system software and the SLI profiles from 270.61. They're definitely better. -
For anyone who might want them, here are these 258.96 drivers I modded. They work out-of-the-box (no inf modification needed since it's already done) and include the latest versions of PhysX system software and 3DVision drivers (for whoever might want to use the x300/5 with a 120hz external screen and goggles).
I also included the SLI Profile Tool and the latest SLI profiles from 270.61 drivers, plus a few other profiles (like AC: Brotherhood). They can be found in the "SLI profiles" subfolder and just need to be imported after the driver has been installed.
Driver Info
Driver Version: 258.96 desktop release
Operating System: Windows Vista/7 x64
Language Support: international
PhysX software: 9.10.0514
3DVision driver: 270.61
Additional info
SLI Profile Tool and SLI profiles from the latest 270.61 Nvidia drivers included, plus a few more profiles.

Well for me benchmarks say noth! 186.42 gave me more 3d mark 06 score but less fps in games. Test sc2 or black ops or any other games with both drivers and see real life performance. If it increases then I might give them a go.. For now I am using 267.24 with stable 50-60fps in SC2 (gaped due to vertical sync to 60) and black ops everything maxed at 55-75fps (and I have a dual core vs black ops is quad core hungry).
-
That's just placebo. A driver that performs better in 3DMark06 (dx9) and 3DMark Vantage (dx10) will be ahead in any dx9 and dx10 game, since both benchmarks test the 3D rendering capability of the machine. That is always true, unless there are driver-specific issues with that particular game.
About real life performance, all I can say is I'm playing Black OPS on native resolution, 2xaa and everything maxed out, no vsync. FPS is generally around 60-70. Can drop to 40 occasionally, and go as high as 120.
You're free not to give em a go, I simply thought someone could need them. Now anyone can compare whichever driver they want with the driver I'm using, which I think is overall the best one to date. -
Hm.. Sounds interesting. Anw I might give them a go! Thx for the work anw!
-
It is! They run most games about 10-20% better than any notebook release I tested.
No problem, just give 'em a go and tell me what you think
-
Thanks for you site! They are many cool wallpapers.
I'm great to hear that! -
I managed to score 13.500 in 3dMark06. New personal record!
-
Agreed. I've also gave up Benchmarks loong time ago! I'm just keeping my drivers always up to date, and don't care about the 5-10 FPS loss.
-
Guys, now I need your help!
The laptop in my signature, I gave it away! With my ASUS, another HP and Qosmio left, I will build back my Qosmio to working state.
What I need is a (NEW) palmrest and underpanel. Anyone, got any link to a site, or a eBay seller which sell new parts? International shippings, well, shipping to Norway, is a must.
I would be greatfull, and rep you
-
Wow man...
You got it!
-
tuηay, do you need one with or without the print reader??
They will be hard as hell to find new though, because the laptop has been a discontinued model for so long.
sparepartswarehouse.com has one listed. K000061760 but it is over $100.00. (no fingerprint reader)
The second hand ones on ebay are typically in very good shape and much cheaper.
You can always contact the vendor and verify the condition of them before purchase. -
If you have and have modified(upgraded) your
X305-Q706. Please toss me an email @ [email protected]
I have a few questions, I have made it though the first 75 pages of this thread, and reall, It would be easier if I could just directly ask you a few questions. Thanks
-
I need the one with finger print reader.
I wonder if I shall make it carbon fiber? As someone here did
However, they're damaged, so I need new ones anyways but it may dosn't need to be brand new.
I would be greatfull if you could help me out, this is my last post from HP, going to give it in 5 mins, just got to backup some pdfs and documents.
It would be better if you just ask your question here
for best possible answer
-
You can't let a Qosmio down xD
Good luck with that! -
Hahaha, but I really liked my current laptop!!
It even had its own therad here on NBR
However, Dude55 gave me this;
Toshiba Qosmio X305 Case Bottom + Covers & Speakers | eBay
Which looks good!!! I have blown the subbofer also, so this is actually what I need.
I ALSO DO NEED RAM and HDD covers!
I think I'll buy this off, what do you think, Priest-King?
Also, what is the diffrence between:
1. K000062720 - http://cgi.ebay.com/TOSHIBA-QOSMIO-...576?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e62ebc1a0
and
2. K000062260 - http://cgi.ebay.com/TOSHIBA-QOSMIO-...919?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c1af744d7
UGH - I also forgot, I need a full set of screws! That is actually the most important part. Most of them are not in good shape. -
This is the palm rest with fingerprint reader.
Toshiba Qosmio X305 Series Mainboard - Palm Rest
You will have to use your old touch pad or find another.
Go with this one, it also has the ram and hard drive cover shown in the pic.
Toshiba Qosmio X305 Case Bottom + Covers & Speakers | eBay
These are the closest I could find to a complete set of screws
http://cgi.ebay.com/Toshiba-Satelli...632?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item255f4f9b88
Toshiba used basically the same screws on all of their systems, so that will give you most, if not all of them. If necessary, just get another pack of screws for another system if you need more screws. I do not see heat sink screws in the pic shown. They look like mainly case screws.
Here is another collection that does include some heat sink screws.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Toshiba-Satelli...312?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35aea56018
I would say, buy two sets of this one, that should get you more than enough screws.
The K000062260 is used with the Sli systems, but I do know that the Nvidia motherboards boards and the Intel both fit, and work in the same cases. I have swapped them around before. Not really sure why they bothered to use different model numbers on them. -
Thank you!
I'll order these when I get home. But isin't it kinda hard to swap the touch pad? As far as I remember it isn't that easy.
REP added, as promised
-
Touchpad is the hardest part to swap. Most of the time it gets damaged. I also need to find a new one... :/
-
I may have a look on that my current palmrest. I must then look for a palmrest with FP reader and touchpad. I have a feeling that this is going to be hard...
-
Does anyone managed to install the realtek drivers and get the 4,1 audio option that people say? I never had it and tried several drivers without achieving it. Although I do get sound from all 4 speakers..
-
There is something where with the sound dirve for Qosmios. While back, when I tested the sound drivers; after installing a driver, then uninstall, and install another back again, it will never again be the same. For some reason, only clean install solved my issue. I don't even have a count how many times I did a clean install to find a good working sound driver with my Qosmio!
-
Ok well I'll just ask away here, I know you all can help
I have a x305-q706. It has the SLI 9800GTS video cards(Tank god Nvidia finally came out with drivers that work...only 2.5 years late lol)
Anyway,
I'm curious, and I can't seem to find any good sources online to which items are supported on our system.
I'd like to know the possible CPU's that can be used with our system.
The possible ram(speed/size).
I guess thats about it..lol
I already am rocking an agility 2(120gb) and a 500gb 2ndary drive. -
As for CPUs, I think any c2d and c2q will be okay. You cannot upgrade to an i3/5/7 because of the socket (the nForce 730i is a socket 775 mobo).
Some good upgrades for your p8400 would be:
T9550 (2.6 ghz dual, 6MB l2), T9600 (2.8 ghz dual, 6MB l2), x9100 (3 ghz dual extreme, 6MB l2), Q9000 (2.0 ghz quad, 6MB l2), Q9200 (2.4 ghz quad, 12MB l2) or QX9300 (2.5 ghz quad extreme, 12MB l2).
As for memory, the max supported amount is 8 GB. It will run at 1066 mhz 7-7-7-20 no matter which ram you use, so I would suggest you to buy 8 gigs 1066 mhz ddr3 (pc3-8500) ram. That unless you're going to overclock your CPU. In that case, good quality 1333 mhz ddr3 (pc3-10600) ram can make the difference.
Best ram you can buy for the Qosmio, in terms of overclockability, would be the Kingston XMP 2x4GB 1600mhz ddr3 kit ( THIS ONE). It has been tested to 1333 mhz 7-7-7-20.
Good job with the SSD upgrade! Gotta love it
-
Wellcome !
You can feel free to ask us your questions because many people in here love this model machine.
For your question, you can put qx9300 in your mobile because it's the fastest cpu that you can put it in your laptop!
For memory, you can put 8GB 1066 or 8GB 1333 Ghz in your laptop.
-
oh I should have been a bit clearer, I'm not computer handicapped
I appreciate the responses.
I think I might stick with the P9600 or 9700 because of the thermal rating, also, the price..those extreme editions can be quite expensive.
Unless someone can recommend me a way to cool the chip a lot easier?
Is there no real way to change the ratio for the memory?
I found in the nvidia profile nonsense i can OC and change timings it seems, but no ratio.
I appreciate all the help.
Are there any support documents out there that list this, I couldn't even find out where the 8gb support came from, but I like it..lol
Thanks again.
EDIT: 730i is 775? I thought it was Socket P(478) isn't 775 Land Grid Array?
EDIT2: Will the T9900 work? Or no, because of the FSB? I'm assuming any 1066 FSB processor will work then? -
Actually, if you're going for a P seies CPU rather then a T series CPU because of heat issue, there is not much diffrence between them. I can clearly say that. If you don't want a extreame CPU T9900 is cool, or P9700 as you said.
Do you got any issue with tempratuers? Qosmios doing fine with QX9300 even. The best advice I can give you is to open up your laptop and reapply the thermal paste with something good. Also, no matters how clean your laptop is on outside, there is a design flaw with our laptops thats make a bunch of dust get stuck right under the GPU. I clean my vents every weekend, used to, when I used my Qosmio as my main laptop. Still, after 1 year it was a bunch of dust inside above the heatsink.
For the RAM, buy a known brand.
BTW guys, I'm still waiting for the PlamRest with FP reader
-
So the FSB speed isn't really the issue, its only the Thermal issue/
You know, It could be possible that fans aren't working properly.
For instance, right now Im running on high performance, but don't have SLI enabled.
My GPU is at 60C and my CPU is at 53C
To me, that seems extremely high.
I'm gonna guess that with that extreme edition, its gonna be even hotter.
I'm looking to not spend a boatload, but still have a few upgrades, maybe 300 tops.
Thats why I think i might go with a 9600 or 9700 and 8gb of ram. Unless someone wants to give me a qx9300
