I found that info somewhere on the official Toshiba website. Also, judgement (and somebody else) upgraded to 8 gigs without any problem.

    Yup it's 478 for sure. Typed 775 absentmindedly D:

Any 1066 socket p processor -should- work. Didn't hear of anyone upgrading to a t9900 though. There might BIOS restrictions on processors, so my advice would be to upgrade to something that has been already tested :)

EDIT: also nope, you cannot change the memory rating from anywhere :/ Just timings, and not even the CAS.

My cpu is idling at 40c atm. GPUs are in the 40-55c range.

You might want to check the state of your thermal paste, and replace it with some AS5 :)

That is a little bit high but nothing to worry about! Have you ever replaced the toothpaste Toshiba uses?

Also, idle tempratures of qosmios can seems a bit high as fans does not kick in before the temprature for example is over 65C.

What about my plamrest with touchpad? :D

I have seen on the touchpad, it actually seems inreplace able to me :D I better pay off som extra $ and just don't mess anything up.

I'm going to order the other parts later today, however, I fired up my Qosmio I really love the sound of this thing, and I have been missing a big nice screen to look at!! At the moment, I think I'm going to do a costum paintjob for this thing. Matt black would look awesome!!

Thanks everyone for the helpful tips.
Now that ES version you linked, it should be decent right?
How does it compare to the p9700?

I have replaced it with AS5. I also removed the thermal pad, on the GPU, and "bent" it down to fit, I'm thinking that was a bad idea..and I should probably buy a new Heatsink for it off of ebay. I think I should also install new fans, I can't tell if they are working, and my Multi-meter is being weird..

I might get that Q9200, if others say its the best for the buck, that p9700 looks good tho too :(

What exactly were you looking for...found Here? on ebay while looking for qosmio parts.

tuηay wants the palmrest that had the fingerprint reader. I'm not sure which part the one I linked is missing, it could be the mouse touch pad, or the finger print touch pad itself. Might have to contact the company to find out.

Yeah, it has unlocked multipliers, so it is overclockable.
To give a performance comparison between dual core and quad core, I will tell you about two of my laptops I have upgraded.
    Both systems are 1066 FSB.

Qosmio G55-804: I upgraded it to a 2.8 ghz dual core 6 mb's L2 cache, SSD drive and 8gb's ram. It will run 3 virtual machines of windows XP simultaneously using VMWare workstation.

Qosmio X305-720: I upgraded it to the 2.4 ghz Quad core 12 mb's L2 cache linked above, SSD drive and 8gb's of ram. It will run 7 virtual machines of windows XP simultaneously.

The quad cores will smoke any dual core out there. The G55 is not slow at all, but the X305 will run circles around it all day when it comes to pure processing power.
At least one other poster here got the same processor a while back and gave it good reviews too.

    Basic math
    2 X 2800mhz is 5600mhz of processing power.
    4 X 2400mhz is 9600mhz of processing power.

The q9200 will outperform the p9700 in most scenarios. If you find a good deal, go for it. (and give me a link xD)

EDIT: priest-king, what's the maximum multiplier for the q9200 es? Can you overclock it by raising the multiplier with Throttlestop?

I've just download nvidia driver 270.61.
I realize my laptop is 'faster' than using previous driver which is 267.76.
Have anyone try the new 270 family driver?Just want to justify my observation :)

    Edit:I'm using qosmio 305 with q9000 and 9800m gtx with windows 7 64 bit.

I only toyed with overclocking on mine when I first got it, and did not keep it overclocked. I can't remember what tool I actually used.

270.61 is a better driver. But 267.24 which was beta gives me more fps than the 270.61 . 267.76 sucks..

Looks like I may have to strip my X305-720 and use some of the parts from it to fix my X305-708. I thought the 720 just had a bad CPU fan so I ordered a new one. I put the new fan in, but still the fan does not spin up, so it is apparently a motherboard problem. CPUID can still read the temps, so the temp sensor is still working.

I just checked online, and apparently the Q9200 should be named "QX9200". It's actually an extreme processor, with unlocked multiplier (!). Therefore, it can be overclocked with Throttlestop by just raising the multiplier, which is absolutely amazing.

Also, it's way cheaper than the qx9300 es. I might be interested in getting one of these q9200 qavr.

I used that with my 9600M GT. I did not see a huge increase or decrease in FPS. To be honest...
It is about $400 cheaper actually. That is quite good! I might get one of those as well.
So, again back to my question. There is really no diffrence between the QX9200 qavr or QX9300?

The difference is a default speed 153 mhz difference between the two :p
Other than that, no real difference. You can overclock them to around 3 ghz.
The link I posted is for the same vendor that I got mine from, shipping was fast and they gave great service.

The polish site advertises the palm rests with fingerprint readers as being new, but as tuηay said, it did not look promising. The palm rests are also missing the touch pad like the other site was. You would have to purchase the touch pad separately.

May be just me..what i mean here is the smoothness..

Imo,there is no difference between both of them in reality.
Just QX9300 is the 'official' processor while Q9200 is the 'experiment'. :)
I'm planning to get a Q9200 next month.Pray for it to come sooner to me. :)

Yep, I don't want to mess with touchpad.

I just bought the bottom thing and 2 set of screws. The last one as listed and suggested.

What I need now is a PalmRest and a Turkish X500 layout keyboard with backlit! I'm also going to do a costum paintjob on my new parts, I'm bored and feel I'm a bit too old for that shiny red color! I also would be happy to buy new set of speakers if it is anyplace out there. I mean 4 + subboofer. That cover I bought now, only has 3. Better then nothing eh? I think my Subboofer is quite yeah, you know, not good. It falis hard while playing songs with a great amount of bass.

got a Satellite U305-S7448 im having issues with.

had issues installing xp, hard drive wasnt being recognized. slipstream'd the driver, installed great.

    now the fun begins.

after tons of searching, i got the LAN driver and its now working great. however, i tried idk how many realtek and atheros drivers and i simply cannot get the wireless card to install. there is an amber light on where you disable/enable the wireless card on the front of the notebook.

in the device manager, i show an ethernet controller with a yellow !, indicating no driver.

also, there is no audio hardware listed at all and toshibas website does not list an audio driver for win xp.

im a 15 year veteran tech and by far, this notebook is giving me more problems than any computer ive ever repaired.

i know the wifi driver works, it installs on vista no problem. same for the audio.

will the updates (xp sp3) fix the issues im having, or do i have more to do after?

alright. XP, while it may work on my notebook, is just not for me. it seems like, despite being freshly downloaded and CRC verified, all the drivers and setup.exe files want to crash on xp.

so, im just going to switch it to vista. the bugger came with 7, but 7 is a pos right now and vistas never done me wrong.

    -edit-

never liking it when a laptop gets the best of me, i installed vista, wrote down the make/model numbers of the wireless card and lan driver, slipstream'd them into the windows cd i was using and walaa, everything mostly works.

im sure i remember reading about getting the sound card to work, a kb issue that needed to be installed...

Well, thanks for the link. But to be honest, alibaba.com did not sound very promising to me. I rather want to use ebay or something. However, I found my orginal Qosmio wifi card, so now, I atleast have a PC, with a external keyboard a blown subboofer and a extreamly hot idle tempratures :D

I'm going to look on ebay for parts today.

    What I got untill now is;
    - Bottom case, with subboofer and those two front speakers.
    - 2 set of stalite screws with thermal screws included, as you suggested I bought those.
    - A new Quad core
    - I do have 8GB 1333Mhz G.SKILL modules.
    - Good thermal paste

    What I'm going to order is;
    - a SSD drive
    - palm rest with FP reader
    - maybe a new screen
    - Intel 6300 (this is cheap, I know a company in norway which have those, I have to mod the BIOS first tou)
    - backlit keyboard
    - webcam is dead
    - thermal pads

I'm also going to give this a costum paint job, I'm thinking of matt black and keep some of the good loking red. I'm also going to remove everything which show a sing of Qosmio and Toshiba.

    sounds good?

No, I haven't found anyone, yet. I'm still looking for some. That's the only thing I'm missing from USA, I think. And WiFi antennas. Hit me up if you find anything..

There's too much of a clearance between the GPU chips and the heatsink, so thats why they use the (thicker) pads. Plus you would use a ton of grease to cover them all.
