But I don't get this. When you download a 3D movie you can't see a thing but when you put the glasses on everything is fine. How can this have something with the GPU to do?![]()
-
I have tried the hdmi route, the best it will give you is 75mhz. The monitor I tried it on is capable of 120mhz and is 3D ready.
Try hdmi to dual DVI or similar method, that will get you about 100mhz which I have been told by others that have done it, will work for 3D.
Support has to do with the cards refresh rate support, many older cards do not support a high enough refresh rate to work with devises such as Nvidia 3D vision, and most laptop LCD's are also incapable of achieving a high enough refresh rate. -
Hmmm, so you don't think 9800M GT in SLI are 'good enough'? I mean the refresh rate... I have personally never tried a 3d movie on my lappy. But I don't have a 9800M GT either.
It is also good to see you around Priest-King
-
Thanks for the reply! Well appreciated! The 9800m GTS is more than capable for a refresh rate of 120hz so the SLI config should be more than enough. Though the hdmi connection provided by toshiba might be the old one and thus not able to produce the correct refresh rate. The official max refresh rate is 85hz bt if the hdmi to dual dvi does the trick then I will try to find a dual dvi 3d screen. Any recommendations for 22-24inch LED Full HD 2ms monitor? Thanks in advance!
-
I haven't compared any of the newer 3D led screens, so I have no clue about those.
-
Do you know anything about this screen? samsung LS 22 CMEKFV/EN It is the only one they have in stock in my country that has 3d 120hz 2ms delay and LED..
-
I got my 3D Acer screen just as the led units were starting to come out, so I haven't researched any of the leds. Mine is LCD and I have been perfectly satisfied with it.
-
I went to the shop to see the screen in person. It was an LCD not LED and had a 5ms delay not 2ms. So I postponed my buy.

Hey tuηay HI !!
Long time no hear/see or hi, so sorry been away just read your pm from 04-29-2009, 06:19 PM grrrrr yuk been awhile.

end quote"
I'd like to answer this now (2 years later)
i updated the x300 with a quad cpu qx9300 mobile from a Germany computer company (can't for the life of me remember the name, it was expensive at the time thats all i remember)
I'm from Australia!
socket p 478 (yes this is the socket i have).
Currently still have the Tosh x300 with qx9300 / 9800GTX still running all good.
Just upon my return this week i purchased the new alienware m17x i7 / GTX 580M (still waiting for this to arrive eta 2 weeks.
Not sure if i'm going to sell the x300 or just keep it as it still a very fast fun lappy which has served me well.
-
Dude, that P.M. was like just after I joined the forum and the T7500 was the only CPU in Norway I could find
wow... I can't actually belive I still remember this
How are you? I got bored of my Qosmio, tried to do something diffrent, but that didn't work out so I bought a new laptop. I also have my own "Owner's Lounge" http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/588074-official-acer-aspire-5739g-owners-lounge.html
I basiclly wanted something new and little more portable. Congratulations on your Alienware
I still can't belive this, not even Dude55 is Dude55 anymore!
take care my friend
-
Anyone knows where I can buy an ac/dc adapter for qosmio x300-sli ? (I just need a 2nd one since its too big and heavy to curry from one city to another..)
-
I got mine from sparepartswarehouse.com and it is the more powerful sli version
-
can u give me a link? Thanks in advance!
-
-
thx! I don't know the part numb and thus don't want to buy the wrong one..
-
I also think you try to keep this therad alive
-
OFC!
-
Hehehe, but it is quite around here...
-
-
When I saw the qosmio x770 I was thinking of buying it and sell my x300. But when I saw this picture http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_R5oDOFX5...mZy6mtU/s400/Toshiba+Qosmio+X770-ST4N04+1.jpg I hated it. Why does toshiba use this fat battery pack? I prefer the whole notebook to be a little more fat than having the end of it very fat!
-
Hello again. Anyone who can give me a link to a qosmio x500 keyboard? I know the backlight won't work on the x300 but at least it is not glossy.. If someone can give me a link I would be grateful. I searched in ebay but I cannot be sure if it is the original one or a cheap imitation. Thanks in advance. I would prefer the US version or at least the UK version!
-
I'm actally still waiting for Toshiba on that.. almost 8 months now.. poor Toshiba..
-
I am sure in previous post someone bought it. I believe that ur in search for the turkish one and thus u can't find it! I am looking for the uk or us version so its easier to find. I hope someone can give me a link to an original one and not an imitation..

Hello
CPU Q9200 today received and installed
Problem with this CPU can read everything in the bios but the laptop turns itself off because it can be, my notebook is Qosmio X305-156 with the original CPU Q9000.
Thank you. -
I'm not familiar with the X305-156 model, and can't find any references to it.
That CPU definitely works in the X300/X305 series laptops, so I suggest that you contact the vendor you got the CPU from and see about an exchange. -
I notice that there are two types of intel q9200.
First is QAJF and the second is QAVR.
You should find more information about them for the best performance for your laptop. In my opinion, QAVR is better because it has temp sensor.
Anyway, don't believe me until you find it yourself! -
Hello
is like with GF9800 GTS slim Q706 and Q9000,
I put the processor and Friday is the Q9200 2.40GHz QUAD CORE INTEL-QAVR but when you leave the bios to load the operating system goes I just think that is the processor.
Regards -
Most likely it is the CPU, but have you tried to reinstall your OS with your new CPU. It should not be neccecary tou..
-
Tunay Hey thanks for replying.
If and tested with live linux usb, removing the hard drive and load a few seconds and so the computer turns itself off, I think it is the CPU. The seller says that would solve the problem.
Regards -
Yep, it deffenetly sounds like your CPU..
-
Hello
The problem was corrupt bios I had to use a USB drive to reprogram the bios.
Ow Q9200 works perfectly.
Thanks to all
Regards
Jesus -
Glad to hear that

If anyone is still breathing around here, I was curious to see what people think of this.
custom gaming laptops - Welcome to Sager Notebooks
I'm considering getting one because to upgrade it to the dual 560M GTX sli is only an extra $200.00 and it can handle three hard drives and supports raid.
I have two intel SSD's I am dying to try as a raid.
What thoughts do you have about it? -
For that price, I would also consider the Alienware m18x, it's not much more than the CLEVO x7200; and gives you option of dual ATI cards if you want em. I think the m18x is getting the GTX 560m option later this month or next.
-
I looked at the Alienwares, and they want a LOT more money for the sli upgrades. The dual 560's are already available on some of the Alienware laptops, but that option adds like $600.00 bucks to the total.
I do like the looks of Alienware systems, but when it comes to power, I don't care if it looks like a pizza box as long as I get the most bang for my buck. Thats why I started looking at the Sagers, and the triple drive bays with raid would be damned handy.
Thanks for the input.
(I actually did build a desktop PC in a pizza box once)
-
I looked at the SAGER you linked, the system with SLI 560m starts at $2199.
Cost of GPU upgrades for SAGER listed:
Whereas the Alienware m18x with Cross-fire 6990m starts at $2499 [SLI 460m starts at $2199].
Here's the cost of GPU upgrades on the m18x, taken from site:
The Dell Online Store: Build Your System
Many argue that one 6990m card can beat SLI 560m, and dual-6990m is the fastest option to date.
Comparison of Laptop Graphics Cards - Notebookcheck.net Tech
That's why I was hinting at the option of ATI cards; vastly more affordable over nvidia.
However, like you said, the SAGER has 3 HDD bays, Alienware only has 2 (but it is RAID possible).
And, the SAGER has desktop CPU, Alienware has laptop CPU. -
I was thinking with the Sager having the desktop CPU, it would have more power to start with, and the three drive bays would allow me to use the two Intel SSD drives I have in a raid array while allowing me to use the third bay for file storage. To me the drive bays are a big selling point.
Also the Sager has three memory slots and supports triple channel memory and the M18X has only two slots and dual channel support. -
I found out that there are some intel drivers that support trim in SSD Raid.
-
I just got one of these second-hand for super-cheap (X305-Q705 with a CPU upgrade to P9500), and I'm having an issue with the keyboard's Fn keys. I found a post in this thread that says to download the Utility Support Driver, which I dutifully downloaded from the support page on Toshiba's site. It runs, doesn't seem to install anything, and the keyboard's Fn keys still don't work. The Flash Cards utility works if I enable the mouse and I can adjust settings that way, but I tend to set it off too often with the mouse and would like to find a way to get the Fn key on the keyboard going. Am I missing anything? If I swap to an X500 keyboard (which I'm considering since I don't like the glossy and the keyboard on my machine has a bit of wear) woudl I need something different?
-
Hello and welcome, I don't know how many times I have helped a user out with this
But FN keys are a combine of Utillity Support, Flash Card and Toshiba Valuve added package or something like that. I stopped using my Qosmio about a year (or more) ago and I can't remember it. But, look for ^^
EDIT:
This is my X300 driver folder: Value Added Package 1.2.28_64. look for it. -
Hmmm...I have 1.2.33_64. I'll try the older version. Thanks!
-
Toshiba screwed it up really bad after Vista.. I don't think they have actually released a version of this for Windows 7..
-
All three versions of this (counting the one you pointed me towards) all say they're for Vista/Win7 x64, but I dunno, 1.2.33_64 and 1.2.40_64 (which I found following links to the Toshiba European site) both failed me so I expect that once the machine finishes rebooting, the Fn keys will still be not recognized. Although holy cats just as I typed this post, all the lights came back on, so who knows. I'll post back.
-
FN drivers are a combiantion of 3 drivers, toshiba could really pack this up as 1 and publish it. Poor company. Really the worst I have ever have used untill now. Even emachines does better then toshiba, atleast in Norway. They could find the right keyboard
-
Yeah, unsurprisingly 1.2.28_64 didn't do it either. The touch-sensitive buttons work (and have worked with every version of the Toshiba Value Added Package that I've tried) but the fn key is just fn broken. The same goes for the volume wheel; I can turn the volume down but not up. I have to use the Windows sound controls for that. Oh well, thanks for trying!
It's a really nice machine. The most advanced game I play is Starcraft II and it handles that game brilliantly with the "high" preset enabled at 1440x900. It does just what I want. Everything I'm missing from the keyboard can be enabled with the Windows Mobility Center, so I have that pinned to my taskbar and life is fine.
For the 3 drivers, I have the TVAP, the Utility Support Driver, and then what else? I have Flash Cards installed, but I thought that was part of TVAP? -
Your volume wheel should work without any driver... Something is not adding up there..
-
the more i try to use it the more it seems to sort of come around. I can turn it up if I move the wheel kind of slowly. Maybe there was some junk in there.
-
Sounds like the contacts are dirty or worn out.
-
Yeah, more like the contact. But those are easy to replace, but it is not easy to open the X300s.
-
I've taken the palmrest off just to see if I could clean out the volume wheel (I couldn't) and it wasn't too bad as far as taking apart laptops go. I found a replacement palmrest that the seller assures me comes with the volume wheel/headphone jack/microphone jack board for not much money on eBay, so I took a chance and it'll come next week sometime.
I also resolved my Fn key thing and I'm just going to leave the resolution here. I had installed the TVAP, Flash Cards, and Support Utility Driver all from the Toshiba site but what I find is that apparently the order you install them matters. I removed all three and then installed them in this order:
Utility Support Driver
Toshiba Value-added Package
Flash Cards
After the final restart, everything related to the Fn keys works. I can turn on and off the trackpad, adjust brightness, put it to sleep, use presentation mode, etc. It was tricky, but it finally works. Thanks for all the suggestions.
After having this thing for a week, I really like it. It plays Starcraft II beautifully at 1440x900 with Medium settings (or 16:9 1366x768 on High, which I prefer because wider aspects see more of the battlefield) and it handles Pro Tools 8 LE and Sonar X1 nicely with my Mbox 2 Mini.
