    They updated my Order Status that it's Processing and the date 12/15.....but I'm really looking forward to them charging my card so I can be sure it's gonna come soon >_<

    Bummer, sorry about that, I feel fortunate out of all the folks saying that their orders are delayed or cancelled. I hope Sony comes through very soon for everyone!

    And another thing...just have to get this off my chest...with all this interest in the CW, it shocks me that almost no one out there in the Computer World (in the USA at least) has written up an official review, such as Notebookreview (they don't even have it listed as a choice for their computer search), PC World, CNET, Engadget, etc...what's up with that!! I guess it could be an advantage though, being that likely even more folks would have been interested in the CW, thus more orders might have gotten cancelled because of the increased demand, maybe even before the week of Black Friday!

    Thats probably because this is a fairly new series...launched on october 22nd...and normally the laptop reviewers take about 3-4 months before they come out with the review...!

    I called Sony today to ask about my shipping date. Online it still shows 11/30 and I ordered it on 11/27. They said they have to wait for a part to come in, which would be 12/29. That's what it showed me when I ordered the computer too.

    I ordered the computer in my signature.

    Sorry if I ruined any hopes of getting it early lol. :p

    i ordered mine on 27th november around 1 pm.. specs are p8700, windows 7 professional, jet black, 4gb dd3, 500gb hd, blue ray playback, nvidia 512mb.. my status also shows ship date 11/30/09.. waiting for the status to change.. the biggest problem is i need the laptop before 19th december night coz my bro is leaving USA for india that night..

    Where do you live? east coast? If you live close to Cali, where it's coming from you could get it by 19th (hopefully your brother's flight is at night) if it says estimated shipping is 15th for you on the order confirmation. I wouldn't count on the website since sometimes it's misleading.

    True but there seems to have been quite a few review written up for some of the other new Oct 22nd laptops, such as the HP DM3, the Asus UL80vt, and HP 5310m. Maybe Sony knew ahead of time that they would have supply problems, so they didn't want to generate more interest, thus maybe didn't send out CW review models to reviewers, who knows!

    ahh so i'm guessing that the 12/22 shipping date they gave me when I first ordered it is a hopeless dream? haha, yeah well i'm still wishing that they put the order through asap....

    People who say stuff like this are the same kind of people who say 9/11 was an inside job and the Nazi holocaust never happened...

    i live in queens and right now i am in india and my dad is leaving on 16th dec night from usa to india and my bro is leaving 19th night and in the oder confirmation it shows estimated ship date 15th dec.. and on the order detail it shows 30th november.. can some1 tell me if i can change the shipping method coz right now it is express and i am thinking of changing it to expedited.. express takes 3 days and expedited takes less than 1-2 days..

    True, I wouldn't call it a scam, just because you couldn't get it again at a better deal doesn't mean it's a scam. Be an earlier bird if you want the item. That laptop was on sale since when? Before blackfriday.....and the person ordered 29th like most of us here.

    Unfortunately SonyStyle support is some of the worst ever. They won't allow you to change a single thing about an order once it's been placed. The only thing you can do is cancel it. So pretty sure you won't be able to change the shipping. :(

    hi hola.. i hope so.. coz if i dnt get it by 19th dec then i have to wait for 2-3 months and i cant wait any longer.. i was waiting for sony to put hdmi and blue ray playback and graphic card in one machine at an affordable price and they did just that.. and i wanted a sony vaio only.. so this will be my 2nd vaio.. i am sending them mails everyday and calling them.. so should i go for expedited shipping method if they allow me to change it or express is fine.. ?

    @aks316 : what you can do is, call up sony customer care...ask them if they cna upgrade to express or expidited shipping and how much it would cost, but before doing that, grumble a bit about the long wait time to get to the customer service and things like you were put on hold the previous time and no one got back...also tell them my order has been delayed by so many days and that you are leaving the country... If luck is on your side they will bump you up to the faster shipping...!!!

    I wouldn't call it a scam either, but the point I thought he made that was valid is why would Sony or any other company cancel your order, instead of keeping your order open and shipping it when it came available. Especially without notifying the customer first, given them the chance to choose to wait for the product or choose to cancel. I can't think of one good reason any company would do such a thing...it is very poor customer service in my opinion. I'm not against Sony, I'm just against the way they handled this situation.

    A couple of months ago, after I placed an order with Dell, after a few days they sent me an email saying..."If you don't notifying us within 24 hours, we will cancel your order", that's almost as bad, but at least they gave me the chance to not have it automatically cancelled.

    EDIT: I still love my new CW though :D

    haha i will surly do that.. i have already taken the express shipping and it costs me 69$ and if i take expedited it will cost me another 20$.. i dont mind paying but they have to give me a surety also that they will ship it on 15th dec coz if they delay it more than my express and expedited shipping both will go waste.. but ya i think i will take the chance and if possible upgrade to expedited..

    I've been trying to work out some sort of pattern on why some people have their laptops delayed, why some are getting their laptops as promised, and why some people got their orders canceled, and honestly nothing makes sense.

    I keep having the feeling it's the lack of color, then Graphic Card , then the blu-ray. Even though they deny it......A lot of us who got it canceled first ordered black.....

    Well for example, I ordered my laptop on the 29th, very late at night.

    It is Jet Black, 500gb HD, GT230 chip, T6600 processor.

    When I was ordering, I saw an estimated ship date of December 15th.

    The next date I saw:

    Shipping update

    Estimated Ship Date: 11/30/2009

    After calling a few times, and hearing different things from different people, I eventually got the same email someone else here got, that reads:

    Due to the large number of requests for the [Model Number: US-VPCCW190X-LBOM VPCCW190X Configure-to-Order ], your estimated ship date has been delayed. I apologize for this inconvenience. I expect the product to arrive estimated on [12/15/2009], and your order will ship shortly thereafter.

    So this is why a lot of this doesn't make sense to me. I've been following this whole thread, and there doesn't seem to be a pattern.

    I was thinking maybe they only have a set number of the missing items (GT230m for example) with a current delivery date. Like for me, my ship date is the 29th. So lets say they are getting in 300 GT230m's. Maybe they are only keeping 300 orders, and the rest are being canceled because they don't know when they will have more.

    Just my guess...

    I have the exact same specs as you and ordered 29th. But instead, I got a cancelation email......True....Maybe they print out a list of order everyday and I'm probably a late bird. I ordered 8:30PM EST of that night......sigh.. is the CW the only series that have problem? I'm starting to wonder.
    Oh wait, they said my estimated ship date was the 22nd instead of 15th.

    Our ship date was updated as soon as we placed the order on the SonyStyle website. Nothing has changed there and we haven't received any emails about the laptop except the order confirmation one.

    Yes, but I'm pretty sure it's the color/graphics card combo that's the primary factor. Since the "graphics card" is actually built into the motherboard, the base units Sony Style is "building" would start with a combined case/mb/graphics configuration, possibly including a particular CPU as well, but that's swap-able. Drives and memory configurations would be easily changed as needed.

    Maybe that is the case if they have a certain set number of GT230 chips matched up with colors. You ordered the Icy White, and I assume you ordered your Vaio before I did (before the 29th), yet you have a ship date of the 29th of December while I have an apparent ship date of the 15th of December.

    When you ordered your laptop, what was your estimated ship date then? The 29th of December?

    I ordered my laptop about an hour and a half before you did. Is that the only difference between our two cases and the cancellation? I thought others who ordered Jet Black before I did had their laptops canceled too, unless I'm wrong.

    Yeah I've heard people who ordered on blackfriday got theirs canceled. So weird.
    I'm also taking other things into consideration now: paying with Paypal, (but then they don't charge until they ship) and I have Student Discount on top of the sale?

    That's interesting, but still pretty confusing. My laptop is apparently "delayed" till the 15th (the date that originally came up when I ordered) because of the graphics card shortage. Yet someone who ordered only an hour and a half after me has their entire order canceled? Did they really order only such a strict limited number of GT230s per color, even for future orders?

    I ordered with a Credit Card, but it works the same way that I'm not charged until it ships, and I also ordered with a student discount like you did.

    The only thing that I can think of is that they still might cancel my order, but I had a special email inquiry made where someone followed up on my case and still determined that I would get the laptop shipped out on or shortly after the 15th.

    Earlier they had the option of the 256MB or 512MB graphics card 230M with all colors expect Indigo, Indigo color comes only with 512MB...! so i think when they ran short of 512MB cards...they had to cancel a few orders, they canceled only the non Indigo colors...Even now on the Sony style website... they are allowing the 512MB 230m GPU only with Indigo color and not wirh other colors...!!! The bluray thing is still a mystery though...!!!

    So i feel, they canceled some orders in order to meet the Indigo commitment...or probably they had a website bug which allowed non Indigo colors to choose the 230M GPU in the first place... and that 230m was always meant to be just with the signature indigo color...!!! (Exclusive or something...)...

    These are just some thoughts...!!! I ordered Indigo and still havent recieved a cancellation email... (i seriously am wishing i dont...all of you please pray that no more orders get canceled...)

    Mine arrived at 2:44 PM! :D I love the color as well, but I can see I'll have to carry a micro-fiber cloth around with it, as I'm likely to be regularly polishing smudges off of the palm rest. Still the color gradient on that palm rest looks fantastic. :)

    Packaging was a bit different from the video and other pictures I've seen, with the computer suspended in a foam cradle. Should be better than the earlier all-cardboard system.

    I'm in the middle of creating the backup discs, but ran into a snag... The first disc seemed to burn OK, but after I put in a second blank disc and the machine found it, I clicked the START button again as it says to... It started all right... Started on disc 1 again! :confused: So, I've just finished my second copy of disc 1. This time around, it's starting in on disc 2. Well, we'll see how it goes.

    Update: Working on disc 3 now. It's interesting that when I started the application it seemed to indicate it would only take 2, but once it got to the progress screen, It showed 3.

    With all the hard drive and burner activity, my CW is starting to warm up a little, but not very much at all compared to my old Dells. :)

    I didn't email them. I called 2 days after... asking the rep...I was confused with the shipping date because the order confirmation and the estimate on their site didn't match. The guy said my order is going smoothly. But just not until I got a cancellation email another 2 days later.... :( .....I'm just not liking their apology on my cancellation... it doesn't make me feel any better with $100 off. I tried complaining and they tell me there's no such thing as backorder or wait list. And the rep claim that the Nvidia 230 was ONLY a special offer on BlackFriday. That's a big lie because I ordered on the 29th and it was still Free upgrade. :mad:

    Really? It was a deal that was on before Black Friday and til Dec 18th, kinda his fault since SonyStyle had the gt230 and blu-ray for free, you can kinda figure what is going to happen can't you? and I bet if he didn't post that and took his time finding another CW deal. He would of done it. rofl. Also SonyStyle didn't have us in a contract I don't think. Isn't it because they only charge the card when they ship it? Pretty sure JR.com had the same policy but they email you they said. SonyStyle does not.


    JR.com still has the pink one and they shipped mine on Monday and I will be receiving it on Thursday. That's quickness.

    and yes, I still believe it's the colors and GT230s they had but luckily and apparently they are receiving more GT230s not just for Purple I think but I saw that someone in white is somehow getting one?

    I'm sorry, that's some big BS on their part. I didn't email them either, I just called them a bunch of times though.

    Calling them makes me wonder if they are all running different programs on their monitors... there is absolutely no uniformity.

    I called 4 times since the 30th. I mentioned a few times that I heard of cancellations etc.

    I still see shipping update, November 30th on the website since the 30th.

    1st phone call: We're sorry, it looks like your order was delayed till the 15th.

    2nd phone call: It seems to say the order was finished on the 30th... give it around 5-8 days and it should be shipped out and you should have it soon.

    3rd phone call:
    Your order was delayed till the 15th.

    4th phone call (right after the 3rd, I just wanted to hear someone else's opinion): Well it looks like it shipped out on the 30th, that's what it says...

    Me: So there's nothing stated about it being delayed till the 15th?

    Phone person: No... but let me send out an email inquiry. You will get an email about your case within 24 hours... and here is your case number...

    Are they just stringing me along, or is Sony Support a total mess? They could at least be honest with me and cancel my order instead of canceling it at the last minute like they might do.

    I believe they had run a special promotion with the Indigo colored units and the 230m, so they had a larger stock of them going into that weekend. A lot of people were holding off on buying until the Black Friday sales, so any earlier promotion sales may have been lighter than they'd hoped.

    I think pretty much whoever is receiving 100 dollar off ecoupon gets the canceled, while others who got "lucky" wait it out and get their laptops by next year.

    I honestly don't find any of their rep helpful. Online assistant or rep on the phone. They don't know what they're doing or how the company works. It sounds just like any ordinary person working there having their first day or something. I customized with the $100 off, but I want to make sure I don't get another cancellation because at the checkout it says "Temporary out of stock. Estimated shipping 12/15" I talk to a live assistant on that. As much as I can remember, this is what she said:
    She said, "Is it because you chose Nvidia 230?"
    I said no.
    "Oh, hold on a moment, let me help you see what exactly is going on."....."ok thank you for your wait. We're currently out of stock on the CW series and expecting it soon."
    me: Well, if I place order am I going to get another cancellation? Because I just got one for the blackfriday one.
    "I'm sorry to hear about that. The reason with the CW was the graphic card sold out. But expect them to be back in the next few weeks"
    me: Then why does it have to be cancelled if it will be back in a few weeks?
    "That I'm really not sure. But usually if orders could not be fulfilled, it will be cancelled"
    me: can't it be back-ordered or put me on a wait list or something?
    "I'm really sorry, but we do not have that option. You can place another order."
    me: Well yeah, but now I have to add $ for an upgrade for the graphic card.
    "The free upgrade for the graphic card was only offered on black friday."
    me: No I ordered on the 29th, that's not black friday.
    "That must have been our website's mistake."

    WOOOOO my cw shipped this afternoon... about time. Completely missed my birthday but oh well :D

    I click to check where it is on the sonystyle.co.uk website, which takes me to ups... but it says the tracking number is incorrect. why is this? :S

    If you pick the standard delivery how long does it usually take to arrive? will i most likely get it by the weekend or will it be next week?

    lol, some website mistake that was! I guess this is what happens when you run a large corporation. You tend to hire a lot of people who don't know or have no real interest in the products you're selling. And they also have no attachment to the company or making sure orders are fulfilled or people are happy. (And to be clear, I am not bashing the phone/online representatives themselves, for they needed jobs and their hiring should place no fault on themselves). It's just a bad, inept system that they have. They have probably very little communication between the manufacturing plants/sony style support places.

    Still though, I can't quite understand the pattern of cancellations.

    UPS probably doesn't have the tracking number updated in their system yet. If you give it about a day then everything should be updated (I'm guessing).

    I'm just going to say suckers and grats to all who received or will be receiving their CW's for their excellent job for ordering on time or finding another way.

    And I don't really blame SonyStyle.com. Their online and phone help was helpful but online was alot faster than phone or email. But all their answers did come from somewhere and made sense. And I didn't blame them too much when they canceled my order because they really didn't know when they were receiving more GT230's.
