    A lot.

Battery meter gives 4 hours at full charge on power saver, but thats wrong and it takes an hour to go down 10 percent sometimes.

Hey, i noticed the same thing, it does work, but it is very sensitive. I still like chrome enough to accept this minor issue, im sure it will be fixed in the next version of Chrome, it may be an issue for everyone in regards to scrolling up/down.

Although the scroll up/down thing seems to be screwy in several applications, so this is not completley an isolated issue, it seems that the side scroll doesnt always register scroll up motions(in certain apps or webpages)

I don't notice that at all on my SR. It almost looks like the dimensions need to be changed on the screen to fix that... like the setting is set to skew the screen a bit...

to fix the full screen video, you can right click the video and disable hardware acceleration, this is the best fix.

Another fix is you can update your flash version, but when you update them, at least for me, i recieve sound distortion in my right speaker when streaming media, but only from internet media, not from playing itunes, dvds, etc.

Which leads me to believe that it may be some sort of interference between the sound driver and the new version of flash. I posted an original thread to this, and the best solution where you face no sound problems is to simply disable hardware acceleration.

    Good luck!

I was using flipfire's guide which is: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=235824

I used orthos to do the test and hwmonitor to monitor.

    I'm using RightMark Cpu v 2.35
i unchecked the auto=adjust intermediate states VIDs just like the guide.

I don't know if these was factory defaults but if i press default in the profiles it comes out as this:
    0 SuperLFM 6.0x .8250v
    1 Normal 6.0x .8250v
    2 Normal 7.0x .9250v
    3 Normal 8.0x 1.0250v

Thanks for the reply, I'm guessing it's probably because you have the P8400 cpu and I have the T9400

    I undervolted my T9400 to

    0 SuperLFM 6.0x .9500v
    1 Normal 6.0x .9500v
    2 Normal 7.0x .9500v
    3 Normal 8.0x .9750v
    4 Normal 9.0x 1.0375v

not too bad i guess... i just wish it could go even lower than .9500v

I was reading that there is slight flex on the right palmrest and yesterday I was at a store trying out the SR and notice that when I close the lid of the computer, there seems to be a bigger gap between the lid and the right palmrest area.

Hence I was wondering if the palmrest could have sagged due to prolonged usage. And as I placed both hands on the palmrests (both left and right), I feel that the left is slightly higher than the right.

It could be me or my minds playing tricks so I guess it would be good to ask.

    Thanks.

I almost wonder if there is a slight height on one side of the SR.

Mine kinda looks like it has a very very minimal tilt on one side when closed, and even open. (Like, 1-2 MM height difference.)

That could be causing something, but then again, I don't really know. I don't think I'd see any sagging though, since I don't put my wrists on the palmrests....

And, seriously, does anyone know the part number of the SR Keyboard, I am really gonna be sad if I have to call up Sony parts and feel stupid for asking if they have an extra keyboard part that I could order... seeing as it's a brand new laptop but someone ruined the keyboard already. D:

Meh, maybe I'll just call them. >.>

Not to rain on your parade, but your machine is not running at full speed when using RMClock. Since you have a P8400 it needs a 8.5x multiplier to hit 2.26 GHz. I noticed this a few weeks ago when I tried using RMClock on my SR. So with your current settings the max clock speed of your CPU is 2.13 GHz. Not a huge difference, but a difference none the less.

I think it's a bug with RMClock. I took a look thru the RMClock forums and saw others posting the same problem.

The palmrest thing is grossly exaggerated IMHO. I rest my hands on the palmrests and dont feel flex, the only time it is noticable is if i take two or three fingers and just press directly down on the right side of the palm rest...then yes...if you apply enough pressure there is more flex on the right side. BUT, no one will notice this in any type of regular use...i rest my hands/palms quite heavily on the notebook while typing and there is zero flex.

God am i a sony fanboy...ps3....notebook.....tvs........and camera!(T70 with touch screen!)

i noticed the tilt too. at first i thought it was the extended battery..but it's even there when its off. it seems like the right side is slightly higher..VERY slightly. don't know... i didn't notice until i stared at it for a while. doesn't bug me..as the laptop is..well...on my lap is is going to be crooked somehow anyway :O

AH! So I am not the only one who noticed a slight tilt to the right? Hmm... Kay, that's very interesting. I think it might have something to do with the feet design on the bottom perhaps? Or the optical drive? It's especially noticeable on a table that has a tilt toward the right part of the laptop that I sometimes use too (My college has some weird "desks" that are more like sofa chairs with desks attached to them that were being tested but left out for people to sit on. xD). Honestly, to me it's really not all that noticeable unless you are REALLY looking at it intensely or something.

    Hi,

Can someone please help me. I just got the SR and want to get rid of all the crapware. I have read most of the 68 pages here to get the relevant information but there aren't many that have commented on this activity in a lot of detail.

    Here's what I've done:
    - I made rescue discs and reinstalled vista business on my SR.
    - I used the rescue disc to reinstall the drivers only - not programs so far (i checked pretty much all the checkboxes except for the ATi video driver because I have the built in intel version.
    - When it was all done without any errors etc. I restarted as instructed but in device manager a lot of devices show as drivers missing etc. These include the display adapter, fingerprint scanner, ethernet, wireless and quite a few others. I wonder what happened.

I thought the purpose of the rescue disc was to make this step simpler.

I know some of you have done this successfully. Can you please let me know if I did something wrong or if there's a step i missed etc. ?

And in the end, is there anything from the "programs" that I should install? I want to keep the notebook bloatware free but at the same time if there's something there specific to the SR/VAIO which is a useful utility then I wouldn't mind trying it.

    Thanks a lot in advance.

Try this link to see if that has any of the missing drivers? Also, if you installed Vista 64-bit, I think Sony doesn't offer drivers for those on their website and the rescue disk drivers won't work either. Try this thread for more help on Vista 64-bit.

How much did it cost? How did you take it off?

Could you please tell me any answers you may have to this question!?

I know you've been looking for a while, didn't know you still didn't find it, so here, hope this helps :) And I do believe that is your model too.

    http://servicesales.sel.sony.com/ec...lSearch&modelNum=VGNSR129E/B&searchText=vgnsr

If you go down the list and to the keyboard..hell almost everything says out of stock! why!!! Well, at least the part number is there. You'd probably have better luck calling sony and providing them with the part number. They should have it in stock..they are manufacuring notebooks...they obviously have something!

Bah, but yay, thank you. At least I know the part number... Wow $100.... O_O Fortunately I'm not paying for that....

Ah, yeah, I suppose that I will call them and hope that they have a spare one or something that they could sell... That would be good. D:

having a problem dont know if its with the SR or not though. its about the wireless connection. no one else i know with vista has this problem at school.

basically the problem is at the start of every day at college i have to go to my network and sharing center to "automatically obtain new ip settings" in order to connect to my schools internet. Technically it connects to the router but i wont be redirected to the "Web login" for my schools connection until i "obtain new ip settings." Its just kind of annoying to have to do this at the start of every day.

Anyone know how why this is happening?

    Hi all,

I've just received my Sony SR and have never owned a Vaio laptop. As many others have asked, I would like to get rid of all the bloatware but have no idea how. I do not have a Vista disc, and have read pretty much this whole thread but there does not seem to be a detailed guide on how to do this for the SR. Some people seem to have tried it and then run into problems.

Is there any guide on how to do this for the SR? Thanks

I will be ordering one of these bad boys later today and was wondering if the extended battery is worthwhile at the cost of some extra weight/money and if people happened to know what the weight difference was? I will be carrying it with me a lot on campus and will need about 4hrs of battery life with wireless on over me through classes. Between classes it will be in Hibernate mode.

    Specs:
    P8600
    4GB RAM
    320GB HDD
    Intel Graphics
    Vista Home Premium

    Thanks in advance.

To get rid of sony's bloatware, you can start by uninstalling things like media plus, music box, movie maker, etc. DO NOT UNINSTALL VAIO EVENT SERVICE or the switch mode. There are lots of guides for what you can uninstall with sony software in the sony forum...not specifically in here.

Also, download CC Cleaner and choose which startup items you want to keep and which to disable.

After that, go to the Windows forum on NotebookReview and look at the first page of vista tweaks...follow that(turn off indexing, etc.)

Honestly, i hated my lady-friend's macbook, but picked up the SR's keyboard quite quickly. As someone mentioned in another thread, the SR's keyboard is very enjoyable...akin to using a thinkpad in terms of comfort, and ease of use, feedback, lack of flex, etc. I have owned 2 thinkpads and would say this keyboard is just as likeable/good!

    Quick question:

On the SR's SD card slot, is there supposed to be some kind of flap that covers it? When we received the laptop it is open and that doesn't make a bunch of sense since dirt/dust could get in there. I also don't see any flap or some kind of door to close it.

    Thanks

    Hi all,
I just got a brand new SR190 from SONY online store. Two questions:
First, I can not use the bluetooth mouse which is also from SONY (VGPBMS33)
with the new laptop because seems the bluetooth device manager
could not find the mouse at all. But it works perfectly with my old dell
laptop running XP. Anybody has the same problem?

Second, I did not see any Vista or XP installation CD in the box. Can I ask
the software from SONY, for free?

    Thanks a lot.

Anyone know where I can check out a Sony Vaio SR in a retail setting?

At best buy they only sell the SR online. I will be in the Seattle area next weekend, so I can check out the Sony Style store in the U Village, but I just want to look at one before taking the plunge and buying it online.

Does anyone know any website that has any deals on the SR like previously on newegg/? I'm looking for cheapest model with the radeon graphics card, ram can be upgraded afterwards. The shipping and tax are killing alot of deals I've been checking out.
