Have you tried to just uninstall the existing one and install a newer one then?
-
-
The other driver doesn't have this problems, just the video driver... -
You will not be able to upgrade to a newer driver if you don't uninstall the old one. Normally you shouldn't have any problems

Just one more question, where can find the sony video driver? In case the video driver has problem then I can switch back. -

I will try find it -
I have had a strange problem recently:
When I'm taking my Pro 13 off the charger, switch it off and put it in my bag, a couple of times now the laptop wouldn't switch on. Neither the power button nor the Assist button would do anything.
It's only when I put the laptop back on the charger that I can switch it on again, and that works immediately and so far without fail. It's not a good situation though, since I don't want to carry my charger around with me all the time, just so that I can start the laptop in an emergency.
Any ideas what might be wrong? -
Had exactly the same problem.. One possible fix is opening the little hole on the bottom of the laptop and pressing the little button in it for 15 seconds. It will reset the battery but you will need a charger afterwards or it will not start. This fixed it at the beginning for me.. But then it appeared again and again and again.. Someone here told me, that there a problems with a connector inside of the laptop. Some cabel are slipping out of a connector. Perhaps that is your problem. Had it for repair but they told me there is no problem.. Bla bla!

I have an SVP Core i7, 8GB RAM and 256 SSD and performance on Windows 10 (currently on 10041) is abysmal. Freezes for around 10 seconds every now and then, fan is on more frequently than on 8.1. I'm sure it's a driver thing, and hope all will work correctly when 10 ships. If not, I'm going to have to sell this to someone...
-
I noticed that one thing that happens at the same time as this is when I close the lid and the laptop goes into standby. Sometimes, though not always, the charging light starts to blink (strange, as I don't think it's supposed to blink ever). Once that happens and I then take the laptop off to the charger it will already have itself switched off (not the expected behaviour, of course). After that I can't switch it on any more, until I connect the charger again.
I don't know if that points toward a connector being loose inside, but do you know where you read about the loose cable? I'd like to check it out for myself. Presumably you did that, but it didn't make a difference for you? -

I gave up in fixing that problems because this laptop was over 10 times in a repair center and everytime I got it back it had new problems.. I just bought a new Asus -> no problems anymore -
Well guys, I've had this laptop for almost 4 months now, everything is awesome except a few things:
1. Too thin! I can click from underneath
2. No expandable RAM (I use it for work and definitely need 16GB of RAM, SQL Server Data tools is hungry!)
3. Fan sound under load (not even heavy load... just watching a YT video)
4. Sony firmware sucks, we have the fastest ssd in the market and it still takes 20-35 sec to 'properly' boot (it's control center's fault by loading the synaptics drivers and stuff, disable the service and you'll boot in 4-5secs max, but you'll also lose the ability to configure keyboard backlight and mouse gestures)
5. No standard size wlan card!! W T F!!
Anywho, here's a link of the LATEST drivers for windows 8.1 pro as of 26/03/2015. It's my personal collection and use them everytime I need a clean install, remember:
a) reboot after EACH installation (I know it's a bother, but trust me, you want this done right)
b) install them in order, it matters (though you do need Internet for the first install, it downloads intel's latest chipset software, the one in Sony's esupport site is outdated, I pesonally use a RJ45 to USB3.0 adapter, but Windows recognizes wlan card anyways)
FYI, my model is SVP13226PXB with an extra sheet battery (which is awesome!)

Hi guys,
I'm not sure if there is an existing post like this, but i couln'd find one, so here I go:
I have a SVP 13 model with i5 CPU and 4Gb RAM. I've got it used for a really good price and have been using it for about 3 weeks already. Everything works well, but it turned out that 4 gigs of ram for me is not enough (Using CAD and stuff like Cubase and Guitar Rig a lot). Since the ram is soldered to the MB there is no chance of upgrading it.. After a quick search in the internet (and I know its kind of absurd), I found that it is possible to buy a new (or used) mb with 8 gig of ram and new CPU (since it is soldered too). There are two options for a reasonable price:
1) http://www.discountedlaptopparts.co...otherboard-v270-mbx-1p-0134j00-8011-a1951397c
2) http://www.discountedlaptopparts.co...otherboard-v270-mbx-1p-0134j00-8011-a1951396b
As you can see, there is no information available on how much ram and what cpu is installed. I've tried contacting them via email and have received the answer that are not able to provide any additional information as they are too busy and work with a lot of part at the same time. I've also found out that first mb has an i7 processor but couldn't fand any info on ram (which is more crucial for me).
So here is what i'd like to know your opinion about:
Is there any possibility to find out how much ram is installed on those MBs?
Will it work at all?
Thanks for your answers and ideas.
Cheers -
Can you please use zip or archive again? -
Had no problems to open that file, but it would be really cool, if the version of each file would be in the filename too
-
I updated the winrar and open successfully.
Thanks! -
Hello all!
I have used an SVP13 for almost 2 years now, and I am very happy with it. I have used it as it is, with no accessories beyond a wireless USB mouse. However, I've just realized that a Docking station would be really useful in my office. I have had troubles finding a Docking Station or port replicator for this model.
Does anybody know a model compatible with this Ultrabook series?
My full model number is SVP132A1CU.
Thank you. -
hello,
i have a little questions about performance in pro13
first of all, did i notice a difference between intel 5000 and 4400 (also in cpu performance) japan versions have 5000 ps)
second, for users, when You running not demanding games, fans are terribly loud?
did You try to run diablo3 on it?
regards and thanks for answer -
Can't see the webcam in Imaging in the Device Manager. Not the only one I believe but cannot find a solution. Also the built in microphone is not working (yet the combined headphone/mic does work with an appropriate headset). It's an issue since upgrading to Win 8.1, which I must admit I didn't do according to the Vaio support site - to run Vaio Update prior to upgrading - but the webcam did work prior to this. I get the impression from comments around the web that the webcam+mic is a combined device which is connected internally via USB, and is maybe getting identified incorrectly by Microsoft. If this is the case, how does one 1) correctly identify the device and 2) get it working? Thanks for any pointers.
Here is a screenshot of my HIDs and USB controllers in the Device Manager:

Fan Noise
Don't know if this helps anyone, but turning off Windows Update and just visiting the update site manually has helped a lot in reducing the "ready for takeoff" noise of the fan. -
USB 3.0 problems.
The built in Vaio Pro 13 webcam (as well as any other external webcam ie. Logitech C920, Microsoft Lifecam) has suddenly stopped working overnight. Trying to access the camera from programs like Skype, Manycam etc.. cause the program to crash. There's no picture in the Logitech Webcam software either. Printers, mice, keyboards all work though. Reinstalled webcam drivers, ran dxdiag, sfc /scannow etc... Googling turns up issues with Microsoft's version of the Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller in Win 7, but reports say it's fixed in Win 8. Nothing new installed or changed that would cause it besides gremlins in the night. -
is anyone else experience touchpad craziness? spasms, ghosting, phantom touches, whtaver it is. at points my touchpad will stop responding and the mouse cursor will start jumping up and down and tap-clicking randomly until i press hard on another part of the touchpad. i don't think it's driver related because it happens in both Windows 8.1 and Ubuntu 14 which I have installed... if anyone has had this issue i'd like to discuss!! it's driving me crazy and it makes the laptop almost unusable.
i've taken apart the bottom and used the cotton-tissue on the clicker trick, but it didn't help. next I will probably take out the entire touchpad and inspect the clicker dome mechanism, maybe it's effed. -

Hey guys, loved my Pro 13 but it was time for a new machine and with Sony out of the PC business I got the very next best thing from the people who make great computers: Apple.
The new MacBook Retina is the answer when you find your VAIO's are getting a bit long in the tooth. Thread here in the main forum:

Just removed the SSD and put it back.
So far it has been 2 days without problems.
I feel stupid for not doing this months ago... -
Hi guys, my CPU overheats randomly (gets to 60C-80C on idle) even when nothing is happening, I've also checked Task Manager, and the workers that are usually overheating my vaio pro 13 are always just Task Manager/Dropbox/Windows Install Module, I'd shut off the processes, but overheating still happens.
BTW, I am on Windows 8.1 with i7/8GB/256GB. Any solutions to this? -

edit: correction: uninstalling the original driver suddenly works. I didn't in the past for some reason.Last edited: Jun 15, 2015 -
Hi guys, I have a display problem. Depending on the angle of the lid, the screen will display vertical purple lines. It's as if there is a connector loose.
Anyone know hard it is to open it up and check the connections for the screen <-> motherboard areas? -
Cheers,

Installed Windows 10 a week ago and everything is working great. I just used the 8.1 drivers from Sony's support site.
I initially had an issue where the system would hang (mouse would move but everything unresponsive otherwise) for ~30s every so often. I fixed the problem by disabling Link State Power Management under Power Options (thanks to this post http://blogs.technet.com/b/kevinhol...et-to-device-device-raidport0-was-issued.aspx) -

Anyone already updated to the release version of windows 10? Is vaio vontrol center (its settings) still working?
-
The vaio control center works perfectly for me (I use the fan speed control very often). However windows 10 is a bit buggy for now
-
Edit: Never mind. I have upgraded and find the release stable enough for normal usage.Last edited: Jul 31, 2015onesolo likes this. -
Hey guys, i am having issues with my sony vaio pro 13 sheet battery, it just randomly does not go past 40% charge and my battery care function is not on. I noticed after i did a full system restore and did not update any drivers the issue was not there but can back after i updated all the drivers. Can someone offer some help to his issue of the sheet battery not fully charging?
-
Sony says:
DO NOT UPGRADE YET.
To ensure your VAIO PC works with Windows 10, it is strongly recommended that you wait to upgrade your PC until the drivers are ready.

I have the SVP13226PXB. I want to install Windows 10 on it but as Sony stated, I'll be waiting till the drivers are out.
My question is what is the best way to do a clean install? In what order should I install the drivers and other stuff? I assume I don't have to install all the bloatware I don't need? -

You can safetly update to Windows 10. Here is how i did it without any BlueScreens.
Always get the newest drivers from Station-Drivers (GREAT SITE! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!) before upgrading. After installing Windows 10 let the update process do it's thing(always go clean! first upgrade to reserve your license and then wipe the whole SSD since the recovery bs from Sony is only consuming space...). Reboot. Check Update again (just to be sure) and if everything is updated start with updating and installing the drivers.
If anyone has a link to newer versions to any of Sonys own software (Shared Library, Control Center, Firmware Extension Parser): Please let us know!
This is what you need (in this order, driver version doesn't matter but use at least the version i used, "the newer the better"):
- Intel Chipset Drivers (had to use all three versions, this is caused by a bug from the Intel installation): First 10.0.27 then 10.1.1.9 then 10.1.2.9: Install
- Intel Management Engine 11.0.0.1162: Driver Only
- Intel HD Graphics 15.40.5.1.64.4274: Install
- Intel Smart Connect Technology 5.0.10.2936: Driver Only (expect you are using this)
- Intel Rapid Storage Technology 14.6.0.1029: Driver Only (read tweaks below)
- Realtek HD Audio 6.0.1.7581: Install
- NXP NearFieldCommunication 6.5.9.0: Install (cause of the certificate that gets installed)
- Sony Firmware Extension Parser 8.0.2.5: Install (be sure to get at least this version!)
- Sony Shared Library 6.2.0.07020: Install
- Optional: VAIO Control Center 6.4.0.10210 then update to 6.4.5.11140
Since i don't want a cluttered system always extract the driver. Right click on the .inf-File and select Install or go via Device Manager.
"Always extract. Never install. Expect you really need to."- Disable all unnessary Windows 10 spying features. There's a ****load of tools out there to do so. This is just consuming cycles and ram...
- Tweak your Intel HD Graphics Settings:
- Display: Set the frequency to 40 Hz
- 3D: Disable Optimal mode, MSAA, CMAA, choose Performance setting
- Video: choose Application setting everywhere (dunno how it's called in the english version) and disable everything under Standard and Advanced tab
- Energy: Maximum battery, Display Power Saving Technology: Max Battery
- Options and Support: Disable Hotkeys and disable all other settings under settings
- Vaio Pro owners with the slow Toshiba SSD (like me..) should do the following:
No need to install Rapid Storage software. Just use the driver. Apply the following registry settings cause this is the only thing the software does...). This disables HIPM and DIPM power saving features only on the port where the SSD is connected for better performance. This won't hurt your battery life.
Save the following code as .reg-File and double click it:
Code:Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\iaStorA\Parameters\Device] "Controller0Phy0HIPM"=dword:00000001 "Controller0Phy0DIPM"=dword:00000001 "Controller0Phy1HIPM"=dword:00000001 "Controller0Phy1DIPM"=dword:00000001 "Controller0Phy2HIPM"=dword:00000001 "Controller0Phy2DIPM"=dword:00000001 "Controller0Phy3HIPM"=dword:00000000 "Controller0Phy3DIPM"=dword:00000000
Code:Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\0012ee47-9041-4b5d-9b77-535fba8b1442\0b2d69d7-a2a1-449c-9680-f91c70521c60] "Attributes"=dword:00000002 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\0012ee47-9041-4b5d-9b77-535fba8b1442\dab60367-53fe-4fbc-825e-521d069d2456] "Attributes"=dword:00000002
- AHCI Link Power Management – HIPM/DIPM
- AHCI Link Power Management – Adaptive
- For the crazy ones:
- Flash a modded BIOS with updated oROMs and unlocked settings for even more control
- Change your SMBIOS settings for another behavior of the fan if needed
- Open your Vaio and replace the thermal paste with Liquid Metal (eg. Coollaboratory Liquid Metal Cooling Pad)
- Apply some oil to your fan (not the coil ^^)
The only driver that's Sony specific is the SFEP. If Sony tells us to wait for them it's simply BS (cause there is only one driver they really have to update^^). My Windows 10 just runs like a charm.
Also: Does anyone really install any of the needless Sony software?
If anyone from Sony reads this: Please update the BIOS! Fix the bugs. Update the oROMs. Unlock the settings. Thanks!
(sry for my bad english.. i hope you understand what is meant.. if anything is unclear: just ask)

@e.v.o Do you know how i get the keyboard glowing all the time when power is plugged in? After upgrading from 8.1 to 10 the Sony Settings Software has stopped working for the keyboard settings.
I did a clean Win10 installation now without all the Sony Software.
-
@mimosoft
What exactely is the name of the software you're reffering to? I never used any of the provided tools but since every Sony software uses the Shared Library and SFEP to access the system i could have a look at it.
Also: please update the following drivers/software to the version i mentioned above:
Sony Firmware Extension Parser 8.0.2.5: https://esupport.sony.com/US/p/swu-download.pl?mdl=SVD13225PXB&upd_id=9261&os_group_id=27
Sony Shared Library 6.2.0.07020: https://www.sony.de/support/de/content/cnt-dwnl/prd-comp/preinstalled_drivers_win8_9374/SVF11N1L2E
Download those two. Install them. -
The software is called "sony vaio control center". I already installed the Firmware extension Parser und the Shared Library.
