This is really confusing. Even some people with older BIOS seem to not have issues like Elektrobix.
Ok all CB owners post the following details
1) Your BIOS version
2) Driver Version and Date
3) Laptop manufacture Date
This way we can pin point the main culprit. I think some people are using different drivers which is causing all this variation in Graphics switching issue.
@Bipin or anyone
Can you download Brink and check if it works ? -
that saying my BIOS version is R0230V2
driver version in the asia website Switchable Graphics Driver - 05 May 2011 - 8.811.1.0
right, how do i see my laptop manufacturer date? -
Would the Intel HD3000 driver be listed under 'Display Adapters' in Device Manager? All i can see is AMD Radeon HD 6630M...
-
-
@Elektrobix
Yes you are running only on AMD in that case.
@accel
Check the laptop Box, the manufacture date is mentioned there. -
-
Ok if no manufacturing date then just mentioned when you purchased the laptop.
-
bios R0240V2
Driver 8.811.1.0
No Manufacture date.Just month of import :June2011..
Do we need to sort this with country ?
Downloading Brink will take two days for me...Just 50Kbps transfer speed...i will ask my friends first..
Already got this torrent "Brink-KaOs "
thanks
bipin -
Yes better ask your friends first.
Anyone else with high speed internet who can download brink with BIOS version R0240V2 ? -
bios R0230V2

Hi Does anyone know if the Sony CB will run at SATA III 6gb\s Speeds?, its because ive ordered a new Crucial M4 128GB SSD and was looking to buy this machine but only if i know i can get the full capability of using it ?, ive been looking through the forum and cant get a staight answer?
Thanks -
my buying date is 11th april 2011
@gary321
no it only get to sata II, and there's no ssd out there could do the max of Sata II speed. so it's generally pointless.. -
@ accel Thanks for the quick reply it looks like i will be opting out on this machine and trying to find a laptop that will support the SATA III Speeds

I lost the ability to open CCC after Windows updated to service pack 1 - i've spent all afternoon trying to complete erase all trace off the old drivers and CCC and reinstall from scratch but still no joy. As a last resort i'm going to use the backup discs i created just before SP1 and see if that helps. If not stuff it, everything else seems to be working :/
-
Best,
Cassy -
In the end i did a factory restore, everything back to how it was when it arrived. CCC is now in the menu and is working, the card is still being recognised by PS, WoW, etc but i still don't have Intel HD3000 in the driver menu and it's not an option in the CPUz dropdown box where you pick the card.
Weird but i'll live with it! -
-
, i want it toо. Instead of my Intel GMA. I would be very happy
-
can we just uninstall the Mobile Intel(R) HD Graphics from the Device Manager?
-
-
-
Virtua Tennis 4 is not working on my CB!!!!
it only sees the Intel Graphics. -
with overclocking i can play WoW on Intel with 1366x768 resolution with full addition graphic effects but without aliasing. Really comfortable game) But i STILL WANT MY ****ING AMD RADEON!!!!!!
-
Laptop manufacture: 2011-03
All games and battery life (about 3hours with battery care 80%) its ok! Thanks JESUS -

Here s my 3d Mark 11 score www.3dmark.com/3dm11/1624669 ... Has anyone else ran 3D Mark 11 on their machine? Also I experienced a constant video lag after every sec during all the graphic tests and video demos, has anyone else experienced the same or something wrong with my system?
-
you are blessed...
is it running on AMD or Intel? -
-
BIOS is R0240V2, and I have not manually updated CCC since purchasing the laptop. -
alternatively Intel is not supported OpenGL that Brink use so if it gives some kind of error during initialise programs then it's using intel -
Can someone from the UK or Europe please confirm the graphics issue using Photoshop with AMD graphics. Really need to bite the bullet on this one and decide whether I'm gonna get the VPCCB2C5E or not. I hope everyone else gets the expected bios update to resolve the graphics issue next week.
-
I think you should wait until next week, whether the update really bios or not, and if it's bios and fix this issue, then get it..
If not, then get another brand, HP is much a good choice -
Sadly, Brink didn't work. The first time it opened, I selected "High Performance". I then closed the program and reopened it to no avail.
Any ideas? Would upgrading my graphics driver or CCC help? Driver is 8.811.1.0, and CCC is 2001.0106.1235.22490
Here's an excerpt of the error message:

I see, then it use intel then... We must wait for bios update then... I would really hope that sony is providing it faster, as HP already providing theirs about one week, and it's a simple straight forward solution, it add option in the bios to change the dynamic switch to fixed mode
-
EDIT:
Download THIS -
Could you explain how a BIOS update would fix this? Would an update allow us to manually select which graphics card to use or something? I'd like to understand how this would work. -
Bios update on HP ( provided for DV 6 / 7 ), it made a choice in bios between dynamic switch and fixed / manual switch.
Dynamic as you see is not perfect as for now, many of us encounter problem with the openGL programs. The fixed mode, it changes the CCC to have switchable graphic method which can manually use the amd on the whole system on desirable power option ( high performance )
Dynamic ( more of software switch ) , fixed ( more like the old hardware switch ) -
Thank you for the explanation.
Do you think installing a newer CCC version might give me the manual option like Valrond (think it was him) has? If I recall correctly from many posts ago, I think he has 11.5b hotfix installed.
I can't imagine he'd have a different BIOS than all of us that would give him that option, so wouldn't that mean CCC is what is making the difference? -
-
Hmm... too bad. Did we ever figure out why his CCC had the manual option that most of us are lacking? Was it perhaps a Regional difference in CCC versions since his was in Spanish?
Thanks for addressing all of my thinking out loud -
-
@Valrond
Sorry if you already posted this earlier. Could you let me know what your BIOS version is?
Does anyone know of, or have, a BIOS version higher than R0240V2? -

thanks
bipin -
@ bipin
That would be dynamic... It's software based... The fixed ones, you should have 1 more option under power in CCC and that's Switchable Graphic method
