Hi,
I'm having trouble downloading some of the apps from the first post. Both Music Box and the WinDVD just download a html page through Rapid Share. The Click to Disc apps work OK. Am I missing something here?
Thanks,
Jon C

Open the HTML file and see if there is an error. Rapidshare hosts the file on muliple servers. One of their servers might be down. The error message in the HTML file will tell you if that is the case. The servers are usually back up within a few hours but being a weekend it might take longer.

Thanks. Problem was my end, using DownThemAll! in Firefox. For some reason it doesn't like RapidShare. Using the straight FF download all is good.
Thanks again... -
Hi Guys
I've just seen this thread, so apologies for any double posting in the SZ lounge thread.
Today I received Win 7 prof retail and am wondering if we have a full set of drivers yet for the SZ71WN/PC (UK spec).
Many thanks

I'll upload them this week. Sat morn if not too busy at work. Remind I
me if I forget. -
AW series drivers can be directly downloaded from eSupport now AFAIK. I'm downloading right now for my AW290J
-
As promised first posted updated with latest drivers.
Was a big update to tidied up the first post.
Icy, you'll find drivers not available on the VAIO support site. i.e. Intel. -
Mujja: Are you referring to Intel Chipset driver? BTW I've got some question for you.
1. I've downloaded all the drivers and softwares from here for my AW290J. But can't find the Broadcom® Bluetooth® Driver. Any idea why didn't they posted bluetooth driver for Windows 7? Bluetooth driver for Windows Vista is available there though!
2. With a fresh installation of Windows 7 how do I install all these Sony Utilities and Softwares? Any specific order should I follow? It would be great if you update the first post with this tutorial as well. Thanks in advance.
3. Sony Europe released a different version of BIOS update. My laptop was bought from US. Should I stick with the current BIOS (R3072Y2) or update it? -
1. That's the reason I created this thread. They don't update all the drivers for all the models. AW1 -> AW2 is the same hardware with just different specs and dislays.
2. There is a short guide in the first post and some attached pics. It's how I've been installing my drivers for years.
3. US and EU BIOSes are the same. The EU one will appear on the US site soon. As in answer to Q1. I found the BIOS under model AW4, no updates were listed under AW1 (my model). However this BIOS has probably only been released to include SLIC 2.1 which is for models 'officially' running Win7. -
Mujja: I asked about the Sony Utilities and Softwares i.e. Sony Shared Library, Sony Utility Series, Vaio Event Service, Vaio Control Center etc. Also should I install drivers first then utilities? or utilities first then drivers? If the answer is utilities then in which order? i.e. first the Sony Firmware Extension Perser then Sony Shared Library then Sony Utility Series etc. Thanks in advance for the help
-
Install all the drivers first buy right-clicking through each device in Device Manager in update driver.
Then install the Utilities, only the first few have to be installed in the order numbered. -
So no need to install all those drivers I just downloaded yesterday from Sony support site right? Then here is what I will do. Please correct me if I'm wrong
1. Install fresh Windows 7 64 bit OS
2. Go to device manager and right click on each device and update the drivers.
3. Install the Sony Notebook Utilities in the following order;
1. Sony Shared Library4. Install the Sony Application in specific following order or random?
2. Setting Utility Series
3. Vaio Event Service
4. Vaio Control Center
5. Vaio Power Management
6. Vaio Battery Checker
7. Vaio Control Color Setting
8. Vaio Launcher
9. Vaio Presentation Support
10. Vaio Smart Network
Few a question here again :S Sorry if I'm bugging you much!
-- What about ArcSoft Magic Visual Effects Software, Roxio Easy Media Creator Software, Sony Image Data Converter SR Software, Picture Motion Browser Software, DSD Direct Player, Sony PxEngine Driver, Vaio Care Software and many more that isn't listed here? Don't we need them? -
does anyone know what download the dolby center (S2 button) is found in?
edit: found it. re-installed the audio driver and it appeared. -
The Dolby Center app is included in the Realtek Driver? I've always just installed the driver through Device Manager.
-
I've downloaded few updated drivers from Sony. How do I extract it? :S Tried Uniextract & 7Zip but failed. Mujja which one you use?
-
Icy
Every single question you have asked over the last two pages has already been answered on page 1 and several times again in this thread.
I already answered your questions once and you just asked the same questions again. -
Mujja sorry about the duplicate question. But I'm little bit confused here. In example you posted Sony Shared Library v5.3.0.11240 but on official Sony site there is Sony Shared Library v5.4.0.05200. Same goes for Setting Utility Series (4.3 vs 5.0) and few more. So what I did is downloaded all the drivers from my laptop's official driver download page. Now all I want is to extract the official drivers/softwares to bypass the model checking. I tried UniExtract and 7Zip for this but unfortunately in most cases I failed to extract. That is why I asked you about that how did you extract. Anyway any chance you can update your drivers/softwares here with the most latest version?
-
ICY, where are those new utilities?
I can't find any newer versions on the US VAIO site.
I used Universal Extractor. If you post a link to one of the new utils you're unable to extract I'll have a look. -
Sony Shared Library (5.4.0.05200)
Setting Utility Series (5.0.0.07280)
Vaio Event Service (5.0.0.07130)
Vaio Control Center (4.0.0.07130) and more.
You can find them all here. -
1. Sony Shared Library (5.4.0.05200)
2. Setting Utility Series (5.0.0.07300)
3. VAIO Event Service (5.0.0.07010)
4. VAIO Control Center (4.0.0.06120) -
Damn :S It was my fault. I've been using the Drivers & Utilities v2 Sorry Mujja I apologize
-
Please analyse the steps for installing sd/mmc card memory stick and compactflash for sony vaio aw190j Your help is much appreciated.
-
I'll download and add them later.
Right now adding Webcam 3 and Dolby Control Center to post 1 -
Three new util version also now in first post.
It's strange the AW4 still has the slightly older versions listed. -
If yes, then you need to uncheck "Hide empty drives in the Computer folder" under Tools, Folder Options and View. -
BTW I still can't extract the files with Universal Extract. Giving me message "Can't extract blah blah blah". Since I already have the updated drivers and softwares so I thought why don't extract those by myself. Rapidshare is kinda pain (all those waiting after few MBs of downloading) So any help would be appreciated
-
I'm having trouble getting vaio musicbox to work. When I start the program, I can see my computer loading it, but nothing happens on the screen.
-
Would it be easier if I also uploaded file the old way, i.e. 100MB parts? Less waiting between files then.
It's easier for me to update individual files the way they are now. Otherwise I have to redo the whole archive just for a single update. -
-
-
I've already downloaded all of them. The way you're posting the drivers is the best way I must say. But there are few missing i.e. Vaio Update, Vaio Care, Vaio Entertainment Platform, Vaio Original Function Setting and few more. Not that everything is needed or everyone will use everything. But it would be great if you extract and upload them all. Thanks in advance

Help! I have the CF and SD readers working, but the memory stick reader is not working at all. It doesn't show up in explorer with or without media.
-

I am updating my VAIO AW11M to win7 64bits, all drivers are working perfectly, but I have problems with the utilities. I have downloaded first page utilities, and installed in the suggested order.
Now the volume button works, but the eject button and av buttons don't.
Please, can anyone help me!! -
I have tried one more time (full HD format), in order to check if I did something wrong, but brightness buttons, av buttons and eject button are still down.
-
Problem solved!!
It is necessary to disable UAC before installing Vaio utilities.
Now everything works! -
Hi All,
I've just installed Win7/64 bit and was amazed how easy it went, especially applying the various VAIO drivers, utils and apps. Two problems I did encounter that I would appreciate some help on are:
The native Win7 Biometrics don't appear to recognise the finger print scanner. The UPEK software works OK; the device says it's working OK; but under the control panel/bio devices Win7 is telling me it couldn't find any devices. I've installed the latest drives, 1.9.2.149, and WBF driver but still nothing.
The second problem concerns VAIO Music Box. Installed OK but when I run it it complains I haven't got VAIO Original Function Settings installed. I found a download for this on the US Support site, installed it, but now Music Box won't even start.
Any ideas appreciated.
Cheers,
Jon C

I have problem with the installation of WinDVD BD onto my Z (7 Clean Install). Every time I install it it shows this error (picture attached) in the end of the install process and then the program does not open, but says installed... Has anyone experienced something like this? Thank you in advance.
UPDATE: After installing latest Microsoft DirectX all became working 100%.Attached Files:

-
The WinDVD installation does install some older DirectX version though which can't be avoided. -
For the second issue you need to install the VAIO utils -
Both drivers work OK for me on a AW11Z with Win7 RTM x64 with the Upek app and Win7's native app.
Did it work before the Win7 install?
Never installed or used MusicBox, can't help with that, sorry. -
Did you get any error messages when installing the utils with UAC enabled? Have to re-enabled UAC after installing the utils and do the buttons work with UAC enabled? -
-
Device Manager looks fine, see below, but the Win7 Bio Devices cpl can't see it....!
Attached Files:

-
Shows in my Bio Devices.
Sometimes a build up of static can disable it. Remove battery and AC power for a minute and try again. -
Added most of the apps I extracted from the AW11Z recovery discs to the first post.
I'll search for and include any updates tonight. -
Hey Mujja
Glad to see you back. Thanks for the update. Did you receive my email? Where is Vaio Care?
