is my invoice number my confirmation number? or Delivery order#

EDIT: i just put the invoice found on my fedex tracking, anyways, what do i need to put in the mail if i got a SR CTO? Cause it asks for a an invoices, UPC bar code, and serial number which i dont think i have any of those unless i m wrong.

Just wanted to get everyone updated on the status of my rebate. I submitted the rebate on 11/6. And got the docking station bundle on 12/8. Awesome. I am surprised that they were able to get the rebate out so quickly!!

Hope this will relieve any doubts about this rebate that some of you are having.
    And Happy Holidays to everyone!

Question for those who have the Z docking station.. I'm going to purchase a Z with bluray to play on my HD-TV..Thought the docking station would be perfect for this until I read the specs..It has no sound port and a DVI-D instead of an HDMI. Is this a problem? Dont know the diff between DVI-D and HDMI.Thanks

You have to have it. It should be on the box of the notebook (not the shipping box).

DVI-D is a digital only interface (while DVI-I, which is what most LCD monitors have today, can support both analog and digital). These two connectors are different so make sure you get the right adapter if you have planning to convert DVI-D to DVI-I or VGA. HDMI on the other hand also carries digital audio. The docking station does not have HDMI output on it, so you'll still need to connect your HD connection to the side of the notebook even when using the docking station.

Nope, looked all over the place. There is no UPC code or at least that is what i think. All there is is like a big sticker about 10x5in big with my SR's configurations and like 5 bar codes that doesnt look like a UPC bar code sample.

You must have purchased a CTO. CTO vaio does not have a UPC. I think I read somewhere that CTO should still be able to receive this offer but I don't know how to go about it.
And those who already received their rebates, what is the invoice. Is it the paper that came with the laptop or the order details from the website (I purchase my vaio off of sonystyle.com).

lol, i do have a CTO hence my signature, i think i m just going to send in w/e i can to prove i purchased it, heres what i m going to send it
-Fedex sticks on the box, both of them
-scanned the bottom of my laptop and the side of the box with the 5 barcodes
    -fedex tracking printout
    -sony style online receipt printout

There is no rule that you cant send in too many things..right?

As for your question, i just used the invoice found on the fedex tracking site. Not sure if it works but its the only thing i could find with the word "invoice'

Thanks for the info. So who else with sony CTO laptops already filled out their rebate forms? What did you guys put for "sony authorized dealer"? The invoice number? What did you in send in? More feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

haah yeah right? its not like they are going to send you a fee for putting in too many stuff. I also scanned the back of my SR cause i called sony's rebate center and they said well you should scan the back of your laptop casue sometimes there is part of the UPC there. So i was like okay, nothing to lose what the heck.

I want a SONY VAIO SR290PDB since I think the other one from Sony doesnt qualify for the promotion even though it has 320 gig instead of 160 HD. Still not sure between the two.

But at any rate the SR290PDB is sold out and the promo expires on 12/31/08. Will I be able to nab one before 1/31/09 and still get the promotion?

I cant get one shipped before 12/31/08 and it seems like if theres an order date after this time that it will be rejected for the promotion and the model is sold out in multiple resellers. :-(

I should have ordered before the mad rush but now the price dropped by $40 but there is no stock. :-( Previously it was $1072 and they had them in stock.

Unless I find one in stock by tomorrow looks like I am out of luck and will have to wait for the next line of promotions and who knows if there will be any or not and if the deals will be better or worse.

Update: Got an ETA from one vendor of 12/30/08. Checked online systems at 4:33PM EST and none have arrived.

Is 12/31/08 too late for the promo if I order a unit on 12/31/08 and if they possibly have one in stock (UNKNOWN YET) and if not, think they will come out with this promotion again or reduce the price on the VAIO SR290's?

Would have bought it had one gotten in stock today but it doesn't look like that is happening.

    According to Sony:

Eligible models must be ordered from a Reseller of a Sony Authorized Distributor and shipped to end user customer within the promotion period to be eligible for the rebate.

Therefore if I buy today and its shipped out on 1/1/09 I do not qualify for this promotion. Therefore it is too late for this promo for me.

Hopefully they extend this promo or there is an equivalent deal from SonyStyle or from resellers.

Have to wait past 1/1/09 now and see what happens to pricing. New models always come out.

ETA for Vendor now all show dates after 12/31/08. Looks like I am not buying anything right now till prices drop or new promos are out.

I just got my rebate stuff for my Z, Carying case, ac adapter, and battery, It all sucks except the battery. The ac adapter is worthless, i can't believe they call it portible, instead of having a lond thin cord going from the adapter the comp they have a very short one, the brick can be a max of 5" away from the comp, also now there is a very long thick and heavy power cord going from the outlet to the adapter. This is truely the worst designed power adapter i have ever seen. but i guess i will use it at home and use the one that came with the comp as my travel adapter. The comp case is cheap and slippery, not to hard imagining it slipping out of your hands, but still i guess it is a good layer of protection for when throwing it in my bag, I t surtenly doesn't look or feel like it is worth the $70 it is listed for on sonys web site. the battery is a battery.
The real let down is the ac adapter, I would be pissed if i payed money ($100) for that thing.

Really i shouldn't complain to much sense it was free.

Did you buy a CTO from sonystyle? If so, how did you go about sending in your rebate? Right now I'm following Garmin method but I don't have a scanner...so yeah, any help would be appreciated.
I'm going to get the same rebate as you. Nice to know everything is worthless but all I need is the battery so it doesn't matter much I guess.

I followed the online intructions, only thing weird was when it asked for what retailer i bought it from (Pcnation.com) it didn't have any options to choice from, so i typed it in. then all you do is print it then tape the bar codes on and send it do sony. it took like 3 or 4 weeks then they sent me an email saying that they have approved my rebate.

The total value of this promotion is nill.

All the items in the promotion pack can be had for really cheap.

Would rather get the laptop for cheaper with no promotion. Looks like I made the right move.

Ill get what I want promo or no promo and get a better deal.

I picked the productivity bundle - what is the cheapest that you think you can buy the items in it? It is free money in the end

docking station / port replicator . - all your usb based gizmos are pluggedinto the station - including your VGA cable to large tv. all you have to do is dock your notebook (there is a port at the bottom that will engage the station) and use your wireless keyboard / mouse to use your tv as the pc.

ofcourse most people use a port replicator for a desk top - with all devices plugged in.

Oh sounds pretty useful, maybe i should have gone with productivity bundle, but at the time i didnt know what it was for so i went to the extra battery which is also good for me case i like to watch movies during road trips and since ihad the ati graphics card battery life would have been an issue for me.

Its how it always works in the end.

A Battery is very cheap. The Port replicator/dock is valued at higher and is the only promo worthy. However a port replicator would have been useless for me and I dont know how much they would sell for on ebay which would take time to sell. Too much effort.

I didn't miss out on anything with this promotion.

Since both of you got pass the first "round" of this rebate, could you give the rest of us some insight as to what was needed to be sent in? Especially what you sent in for the upc since most CTO doesn't have an exact label for it.

For the UPC i cut out the side of the box, where a printed spec sheet for the CTO was pasted (and it had three bar codes all over!). I believe that paper covers the original UPC on the box, but in this case, I just cut that large print out and sent as the UPC.

For good measure - i included the SonyStyle shipping document.

The second tricky part was giving the name and address of the dealer. ofcourse Sonystyle was the reseller. the address, i got off the shipping document and entered the same to print my rebate qualification doc.

the third tricky part was that there was no option to select "SR-290CTO" in the rebate zone website. so i selected the "SR-290NTB" option :D (assuming NTB stood for NOTEBOOK). Push comes to shove, my Vaio care software shows my SR290 as a SR290J - so i could have selected that too.

Oh btw, i got the confirmation email as well saying that the 'rebate submission was valid'.

So here is my own experience with a CTO rebate.

I sent in all of the information required, except for the UPC.

Eventually I got an email informing me that my application could not be processed because it was missing some materials (the UPC), and to call a number (given in the email) if I had any questions.

So I called up the number and discussed the matter with a representative. Within about a minute they had waived the requirement and my application had been accepted.
