I talked to the rep today and said that b/c mine is a CTO model it doesn't have the typical UPC barcode that their looking for. He said he would take care of that on his end and that all I needed to do was send in a copy of my order which I printed off the website. I'll keep you guys posted.
-
I sent in for a pair of CTO Z's but had to call (after they had received my documents) to let them know that they were CTO's and so there was no typical UPC.
The result of which was that they waived the requirement and continued processing the rebates.
(Also for reseller I put sonystyle and for the address I actually just put the web address: www.sonystyle.com)

Hi,
I am having delivery number and customer account number in my packing list.
Where can i find the invoice number?
Thanks -
i used the one on the fedex shipping form
-
Hi,
I have submitted my request to the rebate-zone and i got an online pre-qualification form which i took a print.
It is also mentioned to attach the UPC barcodes with serial numbers along with the form. Where can i find that UPC barcode and how can i send it attached?
Thanks
Sue -
i sent in the big sticker on the side of the box with all the specs, but from reading what others said, i thin you should just give them a call and tell them there is no upc barcode, and see if they excuse it. I also heard you can use the sticker on the flap of the box
-
So this works with all Z models right? It doesn't have to be CTO? We're just waiting to see if we can get the rebate with the student discount AND $300 warranty deal?
-
you can get it with the student discount, but i think someone said you cant get it with the 300 dollar warranty deal.
-
Hm...I thought bob got both and he's waiting to see if he can also get the rebate now. Hopefully it works so I can try to do it when mine comes in!
-
-
Garmin-- How can we detach the sticker? I tried to remove that but it is started to tear off...Any tips
?
Thanks
Sue -
haha, nice and slow is all i can say, try sending in the little sticker on the flap of the box, see if it works, if it doesnt, worse thing that can happen is sony telling you you need to send in a upc barcode again, then from there you can call in and say there is no pro[er upc barcode. and maybe they will excuse it, if now send in the big sticker, cause i sent that in and it worked after my second try. First time they said i had to send in the real sticker not a copy.
Also, if it starts to rip, try starting on another corner, if they doesnt work either, use your nails and start scratching the part when it rips, and continue peeling -
If it's not a CTO then use a razor blade or a sharp knife to score the box surrounding the sticker. Then just peel up the outer layer of the box w/ the sticker intact. -

How can they not honor the rebate if your bought the warrantee package? I don't see this written in the rebate. I just ordered a Z690 CTO and if they dont honor the rebate then I will probably return the computer. Has anyone received the rebate after buying the $300 warrantee deal? Can you send in the rebate before you receive the computer?
If they do not honor it I may take it up with Amex and see what they suggest. -
-
-
That said, we're still waiting for Bob to post his results. Anything's possible if you believe in magic. -
Has anyone actually tried submitting it?
-
-
I'll call them tommorow to get some clarification. Not looking good though.
-
Tell them if they don't give you the rebate then you will be returning the computer. See what they say to that. When you return a computer that has been used Sony has to take a hit of around $100. All the items in the rebate probably costs them under $50 total. They are denying it and it does not say anywhere that is will not be valid. Stand firm and maybe you will get it. Can I submit it before I receive the computer? What if I put order number where it asks for invoice number?
-
-
Looks like the answer was no then. They're not going to change their minds just because you threatened to return a brand new computer; they wouldn't allow free returns otherwise.
Can you show me where it says it's valid with other offers? I can't find any links to the $300 warranty promotion terms of use. -
Sorry about that Bob
. I'm going to try it on the 610 and see what I get from them.
-
It will work for the 610.
The mail in bundle rebate was meant for B2B anyway and was never meant for SonyStyle CTOs, but Sony is lenient there.
-
-
Yeah it should be pretty straightforward, as long as they don't need further verification of your purchase.
-
Well that was easy. Just the thought of me calling them scared them into approving me!
Got this e-mail this morning. Looks like I'm set! I double-checked and all the red highlights are gone now (no upc, no receipt, invalid model). It simply says 'Claim Status: Received, Submission is being processed'
I'll post again when I get the loot.

You're kidding, so both work?
-
Thats great news. Did you actually call them or did they e-mail you before you called?
-
Evidently you can have your cake and eat it too! That is: 10% student discount + $300 warranty deal + Poductivity/Mobility bundle can all be used in conjunction w/ each other. I never called them, found that e-mail in my inbox when I woke up this morning.
-
Bob, sorry, I read this whole thread but just want to confirm a couple of things as that was a several hours ago and I was still half asleep at that point:
- You have to get the accessories and warranty from Sony and at the same time as notebook purchase, correct? And is this main-in rebate or is it instant?
- Same with the 10% discount: Can that be applied after ordering? Or would it be too late?
- Finally, do these only apply to brand new computers or do they apply to products from the outlet store as well? I'm talking about the bundle, the 10% off and the 300 dollars back.
Any information on any of these questions would be greatly appreciated! -
Hey guys. I've always read notebook review, but never signed up to post. I have been in the market for a laptop and this is the one I think I am going to take the plunge for at some point. I'd like to know if others are capable of getting the discount for $300 off with two accessories and a warranty because it was there two days ago when I went to purchase it and decided to wait til yesterday to finish since I had to run to work. Now I cannot seem to get the 300 bucks off to activate! I only get my 10% discount from my corporate company. Anyone else see this problem? I do not see the 300 off discount mentioned anywhere on the sony website anymore either.
-
As far as being able to get the discount on outlet computers, I can't speak to that. Perhaps someone else could shed some light on this? -
-
Bundle discount can probably be made over the phone. Give it a try.
-
Over on the Z Owners thread they are saying that this deal comes and goes all the time. If the rep can't give it to you now, you may want to wait till' it comes back if it's important to you.

The website already shows that my stuff has shipped via UPS! No tracking number though. Can't wait to get the goodies....

Congrats bob. Looks like if I buy from Sony Style I will do it over the phone for the bundle rebate then try to get this deal too. Still wondering when 690s will be offered by resellers though....I would hope soon.
-
Hey Bob. I looked over the steps and this is what you did for 690 CTO right?
1. Submit online-rebate on rebate-zone. (What did you put for reseller address?)
2. Send in a copy of your invoice. (Print online?)
3. Wait for an rejection email. Call them to waive UPC requirement.
4. Wait for the good results? =] -
-
Did you get your stuff Dirt?
-
-
I actually just took a picture of the bar code label on the box of my SR290 CTO. Printed it out, sent it in and Sony accepted it.
-
There is an option on there to 'pre-qualify' for the rebate so I went ahead and did that.
I think I left re-seller address blank or just put 'sonystyle.com' and yes, I just printed out the order page on sonystyle.
Good luck!
