I think that one is $2399

Actually, only the keyboard area. But I can see how it resembles both the TZ and SZ. I just wonder if the battery placement is the same as the TZ. The hinge on the Z seems slimmer. I don't like that hinge on the TZ. It's thick and not flushed with the entire case. I think the new Z solved that problem.

i see it as well, the Z looks awesome, no stupid wedge design, slight to miniml curves on edges and the massive cylindrical design. I'm sold! Hopefully it comes in an all black carbon colour.

    I'M SO DEPRESSED.

I saw the 1,500 tag for customize and I thought..cool at least it should come with 2 GB ram right?

    NO.

They start everything bare basic.. sad.. :(

guess I should either pre order a really stripped down laptop and upgrade later as I go or I should just look elsewhere...sigh

WHAT THE **** is a poor college guy supposed to do?!?! SONY YOU JERK!

Because companies pay Sony to put trials on their computers... no trials, no $$, Sony has to charge you more for the computer.

You pay for what you get. It's like Jim Beam vs. Woodford Reserve. You can certainly buy swill that will give you a nasty hangover for $15, or you can pay more for a more refined bourbon. Same with laptops.

Hey, these are great photos of the Z. Question, the first photo looks like the keyboard area and palme rest is brushed like the SZ. The 2nd photo isn't. Are there 2 options for this cuz I like the first photo.

LOL...Actually, I was hoping for the Z to have that same wedged design as the SZ. It's a cleaner look, but I'm hearing these slight curvatures are the trend, even with cars.

    Two important questions:

    1) Why no Z591 for sale on Sony Style?

    2) Why can't I get Blu-ray AND SSD in the same Z CTO? Is the issue space, or power, or Sony just trying to drive me crazy or what?

i'm torn between the black SR and the lower spec Z right now.

the bluray drive would be nice to have but not absolutely necessary.

but i wanna get the best 13.x" display that money can buy. (The SR sports the xbrite-eco and the Z has the xbrite-duraview which means longer lasing LCD)

Please correct me if i'm wrong but the Z is capable of displaying what resolution? I see 1600x1200 on the sonystyle website.

Performance wise, the SR and Z shouldn't be that far apart. The SR has a config that goes as high as 2.80ghz. How does the HD3470 GPU compare to the 9300gs m on the Z?

What link did you go to to get these photos?

Can't you just work for a month and quit to make up for the cost. Get what you want. Don't settle. Or at least compromise on some of the configs. You don't need the best of the best.

Can someone POSTS pics of SR. I've been concentrating on the Z for the past 4 hours...lol.

I would get the Z the one for $2049. Whats wrong with that one on Sonystyle? Unless you need the best performance, then go for the SR. But take a look at that Z again GREAT DESIGN; it wants to snuggle with you....

Has Sony released any specific information about their new Xbrite-DuraView beyond it being more scratch resistant? Interesting how they are calling the LED displays Xbrite-eco. I hope they still have the nice purple-anti-reflective coating found on the SZ and Hi-Color displays, as previous Xbrite-eco screens have been plain, glossy, mirror-like displays.

k, guess the press release is the closest thing so far:

The funny thing is, now that I've seen it, (and it is lovely, by the way) I think I'm going to go with the Fall release of the next TZ model. I mean, I have my PS3, so I think I just want to go with an ultraportable now.

Look, he wants it ok (lol). Let him be materialistic. We all deserve it. Heck I want blu-ray even though I don't buy Blu-Ray DVD's. I want to be able to say it's got Blu-Ray and check out the HDMI. It's all COOL!
