Are you sure it's just back light not working? Do you still see picture on the LCD?

There is another fuse in lcd controller board. It's worth checking it.

Hi everyone! I have the same problem with my Vaio SVE1111M1EW. I think that the fuse was produced when it crashed on the floor. I try to replace lcd and cable but the backlight didn´t work. Can you help me understanding where is the fuse? thank you so much in advance and I´m sorry for my english.
ps: this is mb´s name "v180 mp mb board"

There is no number for that fuse. When you remove lcd and controller board cover, you may see it.

On my Vaio SVF1521J1EW the fuse is F2 underneath near the video output (it's very obvious so no need for a photo). It's such a pain that the fuse blows so easily but well worth knowing to avoid going to the trouble of buying a new screen and having to send it back (like I did d'oh!).
I'm guessing it's the same on other F-series Viaos but maybe they had motherboard revisions.

I try to change F8 fuse but I have the same problem...so the reason isn't this fuse. Any other solutions? thank you

Thanks a lot to this thread and specially to ngvuanh, it has been very useful!

I would just like to add that while bridging the fuse with solder is not so dangerous, actually replacing it with a new fuse is not any harder and the fuses are ridiculously cheap.
I bought one in Germany for 75 euro-cents (about 1usd).

First make sure that the fuse is actually blown.
Then just ask for a 2 Ampere SMD fuse, of size 1206 at your local electronic components shop.
You don't have to remove the burnt fuse, just put the new one on top and solder it. You will need some tweezers and magnifying glass. But the latter you need anyway, even just to bridge it.

    Hello everybody
I´m having the same backlight problem on my sony vaio SVE1113M1EW.
Going through this problem from last week.
replaced a lcd still no luck.
i found this forum, and started searching for the blown fuse on my vaio´s motherboard.
    i found 4 F categorized fuses F1 F3 F8 F4.
all seems to be Okay and non of these above fuses are marked with letter N,instead its written P01,P03.
so i want to know what could be the possible solution in my case.
I´m having trouble in uploading the picture.
tried more than 10 times but its not working.

There are two types of laptop LCD displays: older versions that use a separate fluorescent backlight bulb with an inverter, and newer models that use a true LED backlight integral with the display screen.
Do you know which type your laptop uses? Pure LED backlit screens with have only one ribbon cable to it. CCFL screens will have a second connection.

Hey guys, sorry if you do not see my replies for few days. I am working now so I may have not enough time to check this post. I will try to check it frequently.
If you are having backlight issue, please post board part number which is mostly beginning with MBX.
If your laptop has 2 connectors from single LCD cable, then you don't have LED backlight.

    Hi guys
I need help with a Packard bell easy note ts which has no back light after screen cable got shorted out, MB is a P5WEO LA 6901P,
I checked two screens and I have display and no back light. Also checked output on screen cable and had 19V on 3 wires and 3.5 on the other these were for LED backlight as best I can figure. I found a F1 and F2 which were beside HDMi and external display outlets, both fuses are fine. I have a good meter and can't fine any faults on the board. But some thing defo got damaged, Is there more fuses ??

    Please help and thanks Willie

I have a SONY VAIO VPCEB11FM that I'm having issues with, I have literally read every post in this thread. A friend wanted me to fix his cracked screen on his SONY VAIO VPCEB11FM, I replaced the screen with a new one, I now got the screen installed but no backlight. So I replaced the inverter as well with a used one i found on ebay. That didn't work. I understand that this thread is about LED screens with no backlight but can anybody guide me through finding which fuses could possibly make the backlight not work? I have a multimeter that I have been tinkering around with trying to figure out something, but it seems like I clueless to what I am doing, especially with these fuses being as small as they are. I will say this much, before the screen was changed, it didn't have a backlight this as well. Any help would be fantastic. Would a bad inverter still push out juice? can i test the inverters i have with just a multimeter and not having to build a whole rig just to test it? Thanks guys, i've been clueless on this....I will provide any additional information as needed.

@bigm3mike, pictures are showing your laptop has CCFL back light, not LED. You can see there is a small connector next to power connector coming from LCD cable. You should check inverter and make sure 2 connectors on it sit properly.

Try F1 again, it is the right one. You can use multimeter to check both ends of F1 if possible.

Ngvuanh Hi, I broke the screen of my sony vaio sve14113ebw, and bought another new LED screen, to put the screen went dark with the backlight very weak, and reading the forums here I realized that you talk a lot about the fuses, can my until the fuse only other way to have more backlight happen?
I already know what the fuse for replacement, I just want you to confirm me, you're right. F4 "N" top of the photo?. fusivel.jpg

My laptop model Sony Vaio VPCEA, the fuse was F16, exactly under the LCD connecter of motherboard.
I bridged the fuse, and it worked.

Guys, Same issue here but didn't find any posts related to Sony Vaio VPC-CW190X. I'm having one heck of a time getting to the lower side of the motherboard. So many connections and I seriously doubt I can put this back together. I've attached a picture of the upper side of the mother board beside the monitor connector. I can't see any fuses in that area. Do you guys know if this model has the fuse on the back of the motherboard. I hope its not :( ----- any advise is very much appreciated.

I have a SONY VAIO SVE14AG12L with no backlight. I have replaced the lcd cable, the lcd, and tried jumping multiple fuses. If anyone can point me in a direction of fixing this laptop I would be greatly appreciative.

This is (as) high-res photos I could get of the board.
