    Its using Montevina (Intel new platform)

    35-mm package size with 1,066MHz FSB:

    * Core 2 Extreme QX9300 with 12MB L2 cache and TDP of 45W (unknown clock)
    * Core 2 Extreme X9100 (3.06GHz, 6MB L2 cache and TDP of 44W)
    * Core 2 Duo T9600 (2.8GHz, 6MB and 35W)
    * T9400 (2.53GHz, 6MB and 35W)
    * P9500 (2.53GHz, 6MB and 25W)
    * P8600 (2.4GHz, 3MB and 25W)
    * P8400 (2.26GHz, 3MB and 25W)

    Some info. regarding Montevina (source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centrino#Mont...form_.282008.29 ) :

    The Montevina platform consists of:

    * Processors - Socket P / Micro-FCBGA
    o a second-generation Intel Core 2 Duo (code-named Penryn) 45nm processor with 1066 MT/s FSB with clock speeds ranging from 2.26 GHz to 3.06 GHz, also featuring SSE4.1 support, which adds 47 new instructions to SSSE3. It is planned to consume no more than 29W, compared to Merom's and first-generation Penryn's 34W TDP.

    * a Mobile Intel 4 Series Express chipset (code-named Cantiga; GL40, GS45, GM45, GM47 or PM45) with Intel's GMA X4500 graphics technology and ICH9M southbridge, 1066 MT/s front side bus. The graphics core GM45/47 is expected to be clocked at 533/640MHz which will contain ten unified shaders, up from the eight provided by GMA X3100.
    o RAM support for DDR2-667, DDR2-800, DDR3-800, DDR3-1066 and DDR3-1333 SO-DIMM.[6]
    o NAND flash-memory caching branded as Intel Turbo Memory (code-named Robson 2).
    o Gigabit Ethernet LAN controllers 82567LM and 82567LF (code-named Boazman).[7]
    o Main support for DisplayPort with an external connector attached to the motherboard along with full supplemental support of HDMI, DVI, and VGA standards

    * Wireless Modules
    o the Intel WiFi Link 5100/5300 mini-PCIe adapter (code-named Shiloh), and the add-on card WiMAX (802.16) (code-named Dana Point), or
    o the Intel combo WiFi/WiMAX Link 5150/5350 mini-PCIe adapter (code-named Echo Peak).

    SZ71 is 1689 excluding taxes in Netherlands.

    Those Z11 prices may be with or without tax.

    Woa pretty cool , was about 2500 in France .

    What is the real diff between a 13"3 and 13"1 ? Is it still like a 16:9 ?

    Good question. I don't know.

    Actually the 13,3" screen at the SZ is 16:10.

    I hope its not a "square" screen , but 0.2" of diffrence might not be really important ...

    What is the earliest you guys expect the new VAIO FW-models to be released? I really need a new notebook by half August, although I prefer having it somewhat earlier (e.g. by the end of July). Currently I am doubting whether to go with an FZ-model or to keep waiting for the new FWs...

    I am living in the Netherlands, what's the chance I can get an FW here before my 'deadline'? What do you think would be the chance of getting an FW in the United States before half August? Thanks a lot for your insights!

    Can you guys show me the differences from the TZ250/270/298 to these new models TZ350/370/398?
    The only thing that I see is what rahul said the biggest hd in the TZ398....Instead of 250 gb now is 320 gb. Nothing else???
    Sony refresh the TZ for what?? Another dissapointment from Sony. From the first TZ1xx we went to the TZ2xx and Sony refresh the 1.2 ghz to 1.33ghz and the 32 GB SSD to 64 GB SSD. Nothing else....and now even less!
    Something is wrong with the marketing of Sony. I know that Montevina ULV will be available in September but this is really too much. I will just grap a MSI Wind that has the same 945 chipset and cost 1/4.

    Pretty big since HD lists it as 2nd of July. http://www.hd.nl/p/SONY/VGNFW11S.NL3
    Pretty big too I reckon. I have no hard proof though.

    I agree, I can't see really the point why Sony refreshed the TZ without offering anything new. Not even a model with 128 gb SSD that the Toshiba R500 has now. I was expecting new S series these days not an useless refresh of the TZ series. Who really is going to buy these new models?

    @Jack Sparrow,

    You forgot the major update of the TZ. From 0.3 mp the camera is now 1.3. :D

    I don't think Nixon is allowed to tell us that, Sony really wants to keep everything as closed as possible until July.

    I hope they do offer a higher resolution option like on the Lenovo X300. But as an option, I think most would still prefer the 1280x800 but some like me would like the higher res.

    And good job noticing the new FW100 entry in Sony's support! :)

    It seems strange two model of 13''3 competing each other...Also the specs are very similar.
    Nixon only one thing: The TZ, when the Montevina appears, will be refreshed with it or Sony will design a hole new model?

    Maybe Sony is splitting the 13.3" series into two lines, a cheap consumer one to fight the M1330, LG P300, and others, and leave the other line for business?

    http://cloudbookumpc.com/via-unveils-via-openbook-mini-note-reference-design

    Sony is manufacturing the VIA Openbook, which is an 8.9" mini notebook that uses the Via C7 processor.

    It's not that Nixon is selfish or what. He/she could get into potentially big trouble (lawsuits by Sony) if he/she leaks those info because he/she is bound by certain contacts not to disclose any of those info. Remember that Sony can easily find out the actual person when they check through the username we're using in this forum....

    Yes thats what i think too. And bytheway:
    - they are not really competing with each other because SR is cheaper than the Z11.
    - the Z11 is 13,1" in 16:9, the SR is 13,3" i guess in 16:10

    And who knows what other differences there will be in design. Exciting!

    I think its still a rumor and hasn't been confirmed (I hope!). As I said before, Sony has made their own beautiful designs, especially for their ultraportables. They have never rebranded anything for their Vaios.

    I just cannot believe they would simply use Via's design instead of making their own design. Sony has experience in making ultraportables. They do not need anyone's help.

    I hope they make a 8.9" notebook, but make their own design and hopefully use Intel, not even the Atom processor. Make a smaller version of the TZ without the DVD drive and its instant buy for me! :)

    I also think they will replace the TZ with a new model in their "Type T" series. The previous Vaio TR and T lasted a year before being replaced and the TX lasted for a little over 1.5 years. When the Montevina ULV processors come out in September, the TZ would be out for over a year.

    So I think by the Fall, we'll see the TZ replaced by a whole new model.

    16.4" ? Wtf, that has to be a mistake. They can't phase out the 15.4", because that's the norm and perfect model. Anything more is too big (16.4 is way to close to 17, which is a giant!).

    That is not a mistake because most (or even all) the LCD makers are moving towards 16.4" screens, which will soon be the norm instead of 15.4" screens.

    There will be a new 15,4" model: the BX series.

    The 16,4" is in 16:9, so it's a wider version of 15,4".

    I'm dreaming of 1600x900 for the Z11, but I think it will be 1368x768. That'd be a shame because then you might as well get the TZ which is more portable.

    So then I'm wondering how the Z11 will be more expensive, assuming that the SR is a redesign of the already high-end SZ. If it has a DVD drive as well, then what's going to differentiate the model (other than screen ratio)?

    OLED, Blu-ray... none of these seem likely. And if they hang on to the CR series, then SR is unlikely to be a lower end replacement for the SZ, there's no room for three 13" models all with optical drives... Someone throw me a bone!

    Maybe the Z11 has a DVD on a portable docking station, like that old 505 model, and sports SSD, :confused:

    I owned a TZ but in my opinion the screen is just too small to comfortably work on for longer periods. I sold it. I want at least 12,1" or 13".

    I believe the SR is a new model, a consumer 13,3". Possibly with a more 'trendy design'. Competing with Dell 1330. ( a very succesful addition to the Dell line). Maybe the Z11 will be a bigger version of the TZ. Now that would be cool.

    The weight I excpect. It will be lighter than SR.
    And like you said maybe the higher resolution.

    CR is 14,1". There will be two 13", one cheaper 13,3", and a more expensive 13,1".

    Aside from the American FW139E/H which will be grey in color, I also see a FW139N/W listed with the same specs that will be white in color.

    On Google, search for FW139EH and FW139NW and you'll see several retailers that listed them and removed them. You can still find them on some sites through Google cache.

    You guys are incredible...In a little you will know before the specs than Sony... :)

    Seems like FW is going to be the first model to appear. In a few days we will have the first pics. From what I understood only FW is going to have a blu-ray drive? I don't see BD option at the SR or the Z series.
    Phil you say that the TZ has a small screen to work with and you ordered a MSI Wind that is smaller??

    True. I ordered the Wind for taking with me to the coffeeshop and occasional surfing. So not planning to work on it for longer. Fortunately the Wind costs about 1/5 of the TZ I had.

    But you know, maybe I'll be turned off by the size aswell and sell it. Like I usually do ;)

    Ahh, but the speculation is fun! Blu-Ray is important to Sony.

    Sony will definitely implement blu-ray drives into their ultra-portable models. :rolleyes:
    Nixon, you wouldn't happen to know if Sony will be offering any high-end graphics options (to go along with the blu-ray drive :D )?

    If thats the case, HDMI should be included as well. I mean, the FZ model that has BD also has HDMI.
