Ok it is now April, Did SVL7 or Amal finally find a way to bios mod the Windows 8 version of S13/S15?

    Hy,
I`ve searched the thread and almost found my answer, but still feel beter to ask. So the new Nvidia driver boosts up the performance for Tomb Raider and Bioshock i really would like to use this driver, but as everyone know if i update my clock and memory speed drops. Is there a way to update? with this changing ini files or what? maybe? if yes, how exactly?

If i have a windows 7 machine, and update it to windows 8, will the mod still work? and does the process change?

Yes it still works, no the process doesn't change. You will have to reinstall the BIOS after you upgrade to W8.

Just did the Mod to my 151S. 3d Marked 2145 at 935/1000. I was only temping at about 63-64C . Going to try 1000/1000 now. I am using the latest driver that still allows overclocking. 310.90 driver. Is there a better driver for performance or is everyone using that?

Temps mean absolutely zero in this scenario, just use the highest speed bios that doesn't give you artifacts in any game

Yes I understand that. I was referring to the Nvidia Driver. Im using the last one that allowed for overclocking. Is there an older one that might give better performance that I can test it against? Anyone using another one besides 310.90

    Thanks

Well, the newer the driver, the better the performance. As 310.xx is the latest driver which allows overclocking, I'd suggest you to stick with it, until someone comes out with a workaround.

Temps will depend on the game. I get ~60C with some games and 75C+ on others.
If you mod too high it'll simply crash or you will see weird colours and artifacts - it won't let you fry your card.

The memory clocks are software overclockable. You can go ahead and try it in software.

Anyone owned the latest Vaio SVS13A390X?

Saw there's a new BIOS(R1021C8) on this model.
    Sony eSupport - SVS13A390X - Drivers & Software

Not sure if this one is locked or unlocked.

Anyone willing to give a try?

Edit : Those like the SVS1313/SVS1513 with a BIOS R1020C8, MIGHT also flash this BIOS, knowing how Sony BIOS works previously.

I can update my fall 2012 model to that BIOS. I currently have R0081C8 bios. I searched for it in the tread, but no matches :( How can I try the mod? Is there a serious chance I will brick my laptop? Rather not, just one day old..

    Hi guys!

I´m using notepal u2 when playing. I´ve got decreased around 4 aprox. celcius degrees in highest temperature, and 5-6 in average temperature.

The problem is: When idle without notepal, I think that fan noise has increased a bit. I measured it with an iPhone App just on the right side, where it has the air supplies and it marked 48 dB.

Is this a good value? Or am i going nuts?

    Thanks in advance!

That bios mod is for an old vaio, Don;t think they will be combinable, but I don't know much about it so I could be wrong.
Currently there is no advanced bios mod hack that i know of.

This may be a silly question, but I have a Sony Vaio S with windows 8. If I was able to switch the operating system to windows 7 would I be able to use the BIOS mod?

    Hi guys.

I have the SVS1511V9EB with the GT640M le but this bios mod doesn't seem to work. GPUz detects the 1000 Mhz but when I run 3DMark 2011 I get the results from 500Mhz. I double checked the settings on the NVidia Control Panel but still get the same results. I flashed with the new bio mods R0143C5.

    The results were the following:

    7dGjiqI.png

    Iv4ADRs.png

    help would be good :)

    What driver are you using?
Anything after 310.90(I think) doesn't allow the overclock on our cards.

    Try that.

Yes, the 310.90 is the last one we can use. Is there a fix for the newer drivers?

U use the 314.22 driver, take the old one and then everything will work.

Anybody know where I can find the BIOS/EFI flash IC on my SVS1312H3ES motherboard? I want to flash a new IC (pin compatible) via flashrom and change it with the original to overclock :)

    @Amal77
Can you say the tool name for mod the Insyde BIOS? I want to mod my bios (R0081C8), because I dont know if I could use the older modified bios file.

so I modded the bios successfully and then undid it using the stock bios via the first page as instructed because i thought i was sending the unit back. Turns out I am keeping it, and now I can not get the mods to take. I run them, it appears sucessfull, but when I run a benchmark it still scored around the same as the default bios.
    Any suggestions?

the system is a SVS13A12FXB , windows 7 model. I succesfully installed the 1000/1000 insyde mod earlier. Now I have attempted multiple and none of them take.

Hi guys, I've few documents/pictures and infos for the new SVS1312 Win8 model:

Here is the Service Manual for SVS131 from 2013:

    http://www.docs.sony.com/release/MDSM/989095201_sm.pdf

    2012
    http://www.docs.sony.com/release/MDSM/989092601_sm.pdf

And few pictures from my disassembled SVS1312H3ES Windows 8 Model. Images may be helpful for anyone :)

    Images.rar (high res images)

    IMG_20130426_172053.jpg IMG_20130426_172208.jpg IMG_20130426_172345.jpg IMG_20130426_172410.jpg IMG_20130426_172419.jpg IMG_20130426_191459.jpg

I disassembled my netbook (you can see it on the pics) to desolder my BIOS flash IC (on the last image right under the battery). It's a Macronix "MX25L6406 EM2I-12G" 8pin SOIC. @ the Bios menu screen (or with CPU-Z) it says its a MX25L6405, the old and discontinued version from MX, because the new chip have the same SPI ID! After desoldering, I've read the content (64Mbit = 8MByte) with the tool flashrom.exe (Win32 v0.9.6.1 - r1671 specially compiled for me and my chip :)). I've sent the backup to svl7 to unlock the OC function for me.

Cool, I hope svl7 can work his magic. I'm contemplating the Vaio S, but am being held back by the difiiculty to overclock at the moment (with the newest models).

How far can you overclock with a stock Windows 8 version, using Nvidia Inspector (and possibly the older driver)? Anyone has some info on that?

Good luck ottelo! I see btw that your mainboard does not have a TPM module (page 3-4 of service manual). Which versions do come with one? Or can we buy it separately?

Then it will work. Mine came with W7 and I upgraded it to W8. You just have to reinstall the BIOS after installing W8. I use the 900/1000 mod and it works fine.
