I did make some very important modifications to the code, but it's working.
Running 1000/1100 MHz
Diablo 3
ULTRA settings 1920x1080 - 60 FPS
BF3
44-80 FPS 1920x1080
Crysis 3
MEDIUM settings - 30-45 FPS 1920x1080
RealTemp CPU = 86 degrees
GPU-Z GPU = 74 degrees

What version of the driver and the nvidia inspectator that you used ? Mine is 320.18 and 1.9.7.1 and it's not working , it's make the display unstable and turn off 2 times that makes windows had to recover the nvidia driver and the clock speed still the same
.
-
And also what parameters did you use for the "reset" shortcut?
-
I'm using the latest Beta drivers from Nvidia and the parameters I'll post when I'm @ the Vaio.
My Vaio has never done that by the way.
You should keep the GPU clock under 1000 and the memory clock under 1100 and it's stable as anything.
Also I'm doing this on the Stock WIN 8 BIOS (with the latest update) -
I used the stock 500/900 MHz for the default settings, laptop runs normally
-
I set the GPU clock is 900 and the memory clock is default 900 , nothing over 1000 mhz but the screen turn off 2 times and said that the nvidia driver having an error and then restart the screen to turn on and everything is the same 500 and 900mhz
-
It's reporting 900 MHz Core Clock and 900 MHz Memory Clock in nvidiainspector?
And it's crashing... hmmmm I'd re-install the driver, restart and try it again
What OS and BIOS version are you using?
Did the screen turn off when you applied the clocks? Or during a game? -
Nope it's still 500 and 900 when i set the clock that i want to the shortcut like you said ,i used Win8 and newest BIOS version R102108
-
Ok as long as it's not crashing now you're fine
I will post my exact shortcut verbatim shortly
I believe I changed a "0" to a "1" on the forcepstate and it applied the clocks.
Like this:
"C:\Nvidia Inspector\nvidiaInspector.exe" -forcepstate:0,1 -setGpuClock:0,2,**** -setMemoryClockOffset:0,0,### -
Mine is not like you :
C:\Users\CuongNguyen\Downloads\nvidiaInspector.exe -setBaseClockOffset:0,0,0 -setMemoryClockOffset:0,0,0 -setVoltageOffset:0,0,0
Do i need to change it like you to make it work ? -
Yes you need to remove "-setBaseClockOffset:0,0,0 -setMemoryClockOffset:0,0,0 -setVoltageOffset:0,0,0"
and replace it with the code supplied
I will post the EXACT shortcut command line when I can -
It's not getting error now but i dont think it's working , still the same . First i open nvidia inspectator and create a shortcut change the value on it and then close the nvidia inspectator , open the shortcut again , is that right ?
-
Correct but I modified it so that it works properly
I'll post the actual Default Clock and Overclocked Shortcut paths soon. -
Hey Myst, thanks for posting. UT after u create the shortcut, do u just double click to run it. And what should I see? Should Nvidia inspector jump to my designated cpu speed?
Thanks!

So you:
1) Run NvidiaInspector
2) Create Clocks Shortcut
3) Right click on the shortcut and click properties
4) Change the values after the ...nvidiainspector.exe to C:\nvidiaInspector\nvidiaInspector.exe -forcepstate:0,0 -setGpuClock:0,1,####
(Where #### = your GPU Clock Speed)
5) Hit Apply or just close the properties menu
6) Double Click to run the shortcut and your clock speeds should change to whatever you specified in #### -
Windows 8 - Updated Official BIOS - Latest Nvidia Beta Driver Overclock Workaround
First you open nvidiainspector and click " Create Clocks Shortcut"
Then you modify the Target Path in Properties to whatever specs you want with the format below:
Ok this is exactly what the path in the shortcut for the Overclock should be
Overclock:
C:\Users\USERNAME\nvidiaInspector\nvidiaInspector.exe -forcepstate:0,0 -setGpuClock:0,1,1000 -setMemoryClockOffset:0,0,100
That's for 1000/1000 Mhz
If you want 950/1000 MHz you change what values XXXX are to 950 "-setGpuClock:0,1, XXXX"
If you want to up the Memory Clocks just do it with the slider in nvidiainspector.
Default:
C:\Users\USERNAME\nvidiaInspector\\nvidiaInspector.exe -forcepstate:0,16 -setMemoryClockOffset:0,0,0
Sets the GPU clock to back to default GPU Clock to 500 MHz and the Memory Clock to 900 MHz
Think of the shortcuts as Overclock and Default for ON and OFF -
Props to you! Works on my original bios on a vaio s15 with win 7 and the original bios. Sweet and thanks. No bios flash needed! Woot! I'll give e u a rep if I can find the button

Nevermind, revised instructions work, you're AWESOME.
Edit: Quick and simple way to return to stock: -forcepstate:0,16 which is the official "default" pstate setting, from pstate 16 the GPU will clock dynamically as it normally would, not locked to any particular frequency.
C:\*\*\nvidiaInspector.exe -forcepstate:0,16 -

Ok. Laptop oc fine. I copied ur default shortcut exactly. Cpu dropped to 500. But fan still running above normal speed and wattage stuck at 22watt vs 10 to 12. For battery drain. I don't believe gpu is dropping to 135 speed. Help?

Touchee
Do what he says for default clock (variable not fixed)
C:\*\*\nvidiaInspector.exe -forcepstate:0,16 -setMemoryClockOffset:0,0,0 to be exact -
Thank you! That shortcut is much easier. Fans have throttled down, as have the gpu! Thank you.
Btw, mentioned watts in my previous post. I mean mw.
How does this work? I thought bios mod was the only way?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2 -
I believe the idle/full clock issue was addressed at this time.
-
I found my memory would clock down to 405MHz with or without resetting the memory clock offset. But if it makes a difference for you, by all means use it.
-
I didn't believe BIOS mod was the only way, so I set out to scour the internet to find a workaround.
As you can see it's clearly possible and I just played Battlefield 3 at 1000/1100 MHz OC and it never dropped under 45 FPS
Also the temp never went above 75 for GPU and 86 for CPU
Also if you are worried about CPU temps hitting 90
Go into Processor Power Management and reduce it to 90% from 100% power and you won't notice a drop in FPS either
PPS: Thermaltake Laptop Cooling Fan w/ 230 mm fan helps too
 -
I know about that bug. But this was with Nvidia inspector. The gpu would not auto throttle. But when I entered ur short command for setting gpu to default, the gpu speed dropped to 135 with inspector open.
Cheers

So, is this a driver mod then? Btw, my laptop is using less power than I've ever seen it using. At idle I'm at 8mW. While in the past I've never really dropped below 10. Very happy.

I was debating sharing this, now at least I know I made the right choice.
It's mostly a "how about we don't rip the BIOS out of my brand new $1500 S15 Laptop Mod"
 -
Great and Awesome work Myst3ri0n!
Last I did, it didn't do anything.
Will try it later. -
Yea I just tested it and my gpu clock drops back down to 135 MHz and memory clock 405MHz
Launched Diablo without OC 500/900 MHiz as per usual, closed Diablo, 135/405 MHz
This works quite well for me.
-
Just tried it with GUru3D download of nVidia Inspector. The OC works, but the version uses GPU offset, not actual GPU clock, so the parameters need to be -setBaseBlockOffset not -setGpuCLock (use the Create SHortcut to get the right one).
Max. CPU OC I can get with that build of nvI is +135 though
-
Yes, the default shortcut created by NVidia Inspector does include a -setBaseClockOffset flag, but NVI will also recognize the -setGpuClock flag. The option flags as posted by Myst3ri0n in post #1817 are accurate. You can remove the -setBaseClockOffset flag from the shortcut.
-
Yes, just wipe out everything that the inspector creates and type in what he wrote.

did someone using this nvidia drivers NVIDIA DRIVERS 320.18WHQL
im not sure if i can use them, because they say it will just support the F-Serie with NVIDIA GeForce 310M, GeForce GT 330M, GeForce GT 425M, GeForce GT 520M oder GeForce GT 540M. -
I'm using 320.18 drivers (English rather than German though), they work fine with this NVI method.
-
I can't get it to work with -setGpuClock only, it only changes the memory clock. Hence why I mentioned it
Thanks, BTW, Myst3ri0n, that is one heck of a Reputation deserving find
-
At first the -forcepstate:0,0 -setGpuClock:0,2 did not work for me, and didn't modify the clock speed
So what I did was modify a few values and I came up with this:
-forcepstate:0,0 -setGpuClock:0,1,XXXX and it worked
Perhaps -forcepstate:0,0 -setGpuClock:0,2,XXXX will work for you? -
Any clue as to what 1 or 2 as the second parameter for -setGpuClock does?
I'll try it. -
I believe it's the GPU designation/hardware address, if the nvidia card is 1st or 2nd in regards to the Intel HD Graphics 4000, then the number changes accordingly, depending on the hardware configuration.
-
On S15/S13 it would always be the second one, I think, considering all the S13/S15 use the same configuration (Intel HD is always the show-GPU, nVidia just processes GPU intensive tasks but outputs them via Intel HD)
-
I tried both -setGpuClock:0,0/1/2,1000
nVidiaI shows:
Current Clock: 700
Base: 500
I am not sure I read this correctly... but I reckon the default is 500 as it should be and I was able to OC to 700MHz max.
You could OC to 1000, correct?
Memory OCes from 900 to 1000 easily of course. -
What driver version, OS, version of nvidiainspector etc etc
Also did you ever try to flash the bios or no?
I feel like it should work for you, or we are missing something -
I didn't flash the BIOS (it wasn't updated either if there is any update at all)
nvDriver is 314, OS is W7. nvI is 1.9.7.1
What continent are your S1x from? Mine is Korean, I reckon European or US might not be exact. -
Can you share with us your specific details?
Which version of nvidiainspector, nvidia drivers, BIOS, etc?
Tried on mine, it didn't work. It changes the clock to whatever I want, but it will still stick at 570MHz when utilizing. -
Just followed Mysterion's instructions with the Nvidia official 320.18 driver and original windows 7 R0142C5 bios, and everything works perfectly fine. Kudos!
-
Ahh... My mistake..
I downgrade my Driver to the old 310.90, and it works. Forgot that the 314.22 drivers that I had locks the clock to 570MHz unless forcing it by OC.. -
My new score on 1050/1100 using NVI on an existing Unlock BIOS :
NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M LE video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3520M,Sony Corporation VAIO score: P2533 3DMarks -
Is it ok to OC using these settings?
I'm not using any special coolers so I wouldn't want to fry my gfxcard

Why is it showing "conflicting" readings?
