People seem to love the Zeroshock 3 case from Japan. That is around $50.

Yes, a lot of people seem to like those. I'm not sure if they made one specifically for the Z's 13.1 panel, or if the 13.3 size is as close as you're going to get... It may fit into a 12" Zeroshock case but I'm not sure.

Sorry, can't help you out with that one Computer Cowboy. This case was mentioned before in this thread, maybe there's some information on that...

I know if you email the guys at M3C, they will be able to provide you some pictures of the matte version. I asked them to send me a few shots when I was in the ordering process a while back. After seeing the shots, I decided to go with the glossy, but that is just personal preference.

You should make note that the case is a decent weight case that will negate all of the weight bonuses of owning a Z. I personally still use this case because I am student that is constantly moving my laptop from place to place. It gives me the piece of mind that I need that my screen won't get messed up even though I have multiple forms of protection from that happening anyway. It's a nice case that you can throw around and not have to worry about diddly-squat. I'm not sure if the matte would be this way, but that glaze that use to make the case glossy seems to make it slide when I toss it around.

The zeroshock III is not custom made for the Vaio and the Z is a rather loose fit. Also not a hard case, so will not protect from serious compression.

I'm in the market exactly for a similar bag like the Booq Taipan slim S. I was originally thinking of Sony VGP-CCB4/B VAIO Carrying Case but that thing is basically unavailable now. Was looking for something thats as slim as possible yet still allow me to take the brick and maybe a book and a mouse with the laptop, and has a handle (detachable long sling is good too). The Taipan slim S seems to fit that! Do you like yours? What are the other exact options in Pakuma and Be.ez did you consider? Also do you know of any "cheaper" alternatives? 70 bucks for a bag does seem a little too much for me :)

how did you get that sticker on so cleanly around the vaio letters ? I tried with mine I had the carbon version and it just doesn't look that nice around the letters.

To anyone looking for a bit more sturdy a case...

I'm off to Uganda in the summer to work in a hospital and wanted to get something pretty hardcore to stop my Z from being crushed in my backpack. Not wanting to splash out a huge amount of money on the Mach 3 case I looked elsewhere and found something called PELI HardBack 1080. VERY ugly (sorta looks like a bomb/terrorist case) but the Z fits perfectly in it width-wise and it's definitely not going to break anytime soon! I think it's even waterproof. Cost £55.

(I do have a very nice Paul Smith envelope case as well, in case anyone was wondering...)

That is awesome! :D Is it heavy? Looks like a bulldozer could run over it without any damage to the Z

Pretty sure a bulldozer could actually run it over! It is seriously strong. And a lifetime guarantee if you can break it, apparently.

Glad you like it! Amazingly good fit. I think it weighs 1 kilo on it's own.

I seriously NEED that! It'll definitely keep my Z safe even if a truck runs through it! Is there too much wiggle room for the Z though?

Wiggle room? Side to side or front to back? The way I have the grey memory foam bits lined up means that there is no movement whatsoever when it's in the case. Side to side wiggle there was almost nothing even before I put them in and front to back - obviously quite a bit before but with the large pads at the back there is now no movement.

Does the foam come with the case? Or is it DIY? After some product research I found out that Pelican (Peli) also makes ridiculous cases for other products, such as a waterproof crashproof case for the iPhone 4 that allows you to listen music underwater!

I could also use one of those SGP skins, but unfortunately they're not available in Hong Kong. I mean, look:

The memory foam bits come with it - 4 low height ones and 4 taller ones.

They do another version of the same case that is full of small memory foam squares - you just pick out the shape of your laptop and that's that.

Anyone got a release date for the SGP skins for the Z2's? I've just looked at a couple of my slightly older ones in broad daylight and I realise the palmrest is scratched to hell - whatever this finish is, it appears to be really delicate in comparison to the Z1.

I can confirm, the Z21 with sheet-battery will not fit in the CKZ3. But for day to day use it does give perfect protection. For long trips I fit it with the CVZ3 :)

If you are looking for a Booq Vyper I can confirm that the Z1 fits comfortably in the XS3 (made for macbook pro 13s) despite Booq claiming that it is designed to take a laptop with a maximum height of 27mm (Z1 = 34mm high).

I can also confirm that the thing on the side which looks like a handle is not in fact a handle and that the case, whilst being much more rigid than a sleeve, it is absolutely not a replacement for a flight case (if you happen to be looking for one).

You cant attach it to the notebook - at least there are no straps to hold it on and no place that I can see where you can fix a strap. The Sony cover is expensive as hell. :| For that money you can buy a flight case and even though they are bulky, they are so solid you can literally kick them around without your computer taking any damage.

I already posted some questions about the CKZ4 bag in the Z2 owners' thread, but it seems that no one has detailed information about it.

I'll try my luck here as well :) Does anyone have the CKZ4 bag (or has seen it in person) and could answer some questions about it?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello.

I have a Sony z21 and it is black. I want to change the color and was hoping to apply some skin decals or whatever to make it look more fancy... i like anything metallic blue or silver/gold/ or chrome.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Anything that is affordable and easy to apply and remove?

    Thanks a lot!

Obviously a beyond long shot maybe but is anyone planning a snap-on case for the Z2 in the Speck vein? Preferably something under 200g? My recently retired Z1's haven't been too badly mauled on the lid at least thanks to the skins, but they still look extremely secondhand underneath. I'd like another option than an Invisibleshield-like solution, which I know exists.
