Best Free Software for Windows

Well, because this is a list of the best free ware, i can't. I would if it was a list of all the freeware. It may be good, but launchy and colibri are better.

 

Hmm, it's definitely better than Launchy...I experienced a bug with Launchy where it won't respond sometimes. By sometimes I mean roughly 20% of the time. Whereas maybe once in a blue moon Keybreeze won't respond too.

Colibri, maybe I should give it another try, but Keybreeze is getting the job done for me. Definitely better than Launchy.

 

You run on x64 xp so that may be the problem. Launchy is good, and well recognized as a good launching app. Although i know of keybreeze, i just can't add it, alright?

 

Activepen is a nice annotation software (free trial)
and..

dvd flick is a really really nice free dvd encoding software

Notebook Hardware Control

Have been using it for a while, it monitors temps of various parts of your comp (CPU, HD, etc), has ability to adjust power settings, HD settings, and has various other uses. It's recommended by Gophn in his Monitoring Notebook Temps guide.

I think it still needs some time to mature Lawrence, but i'll ask a few of my friends and see what they think. It's an awesome program, and you make releases so fast it'll probably already be 2.0 by the time i think it's at it's best.

 

haha... ok, I understand... I'm doing it so fast... so that it cannot be copied easily by other people... I think other programmers are trying to unlock some of its features... tons of emails asking me how or sending me some questions... Or What if You'll ask me If I want to sell it (Joke!)?

why it's easy to modify? because I already created the "core". Editing/adding features can take 1-2 days only...
The most difficult is choosing what features you'll add...
Anyway, I'm looking forward for that...

Hey Calvin, any recent thoughts about Notebook Hardware Control?

 

Haven't personally used it as i haven't had a notebook in a long while, but you can ask for general feedback here, or in a new thread if you want.

 

I meant "any thoughts" it in the context of adding it to your list. I do use it. I think you'll find it's quite useful/recommended, but, as you mentioned, it's for notebooks (this is a notebook site after all ). Anyways, just seeing if you were going to add it or not.

 

Oh, then in that case i'll add it. I thought you wanted feedback. Which section should it go under?

Yup, that's the purpose of my list. It's hard to find good free software, so i find them and put them in a convenient place.

i think the license is just a way to support less CO2 emission, so less Global warming..but yeah it's weird lol

Just for the sake of explanation, if they were having a promotional offer, it stays that way. After it's done you shouldn't distribute it.

 

did you read the post they have given it away a few times as someone mentioned it's a repost on the free snagit software , I think they want you to upgrade for $20.00 , I got the email from them with the code I would not have posted anything like this if it wasn't true please read the thread it came from and I could also give you another where it says repost

 

Whether or not passing on a promotions is right or not, there are still problems with your suggestion:

-The software you're suggesting is NOT the latest version available
-The latest version available is NOT free

 

that is true!, I probably should'nt have posted it after the 4 months I had gotten it, but yesterday I needed it to post something and I had it on one notebook but not the other so I looked it up and downloaded again for my other notebook and it was still active , I think they want you to upgrade thats was there idea I believe

I am not saying its illegal. I dont want it in this thread since it does not fit with the "theme" of this thread. Snag-it is a good software but since techsmith(the creators) does not offer a "freeware" version of their software on their site, its not appropriate for this thread.
