1 tab on each. However, FireFox does have the cumbersome add-ons (I have 6 running). Running in safe mode, FF hovers around 45-50MB. Also, when I looked, I noticed Chrome has two chrome exes running 24MB and 27MB. I have only one tab open. Whats up with that?
-
Wow I have two tabs open and 3 process, 2 at 35MB and one at 18MB.
-
Chrome launches a new thread (10MB to XXX, depending on the page) for each tab...(+ an additional one)
It seems to me that FF3 will outperform Chrome as the number of tabs increase. That its not so, if you just have 2 or 3 tabs... -

Chrome's terms and services is a deal breaker for me.

Oooooh!
Here's a very cool trick. Go to about:memory -

Does scripts work on this forum for anyone here? When you're logged in, can you access the "quick links" button on the forum? Doesn't work for me in Chrome, but works fine in Firefox with NoScript disabled.

For a beta product, it is surprisingly well polished; it also has a few design features that set it apart from FF and IE. The minimal interface and lack of a status bar leaves more screen real estate for web pages. Overall, a very nice browser.

It seems for me and some others that .gif pictures don't display properly, they're really slow even when fully loaded. Anyone else having this problem? Other than that it seems to be working for me especially for being less than a day old.
-
This is a real new kid on the block that's welcomed whole heartedly.
However, in the so-called comic on Chrome, in this pic;,
Some idiot is pointing at a map of Europe on Western-Poland, where 'he' is talking about Denmark.
And you can see that the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria and Hungary are all of a sudden part of one country.... OF WHAT???
GREAT-CHROME???? GREATER-GOOGLE????
What's this all about?World Domination???
LONG LIVE FF3, DOWN WITH IMPERIALIST CHROME, EUROPE AGAINST GOOGLE -
the bookmarks are awesome just like safari
-
Gotta admit, it does seem a bit snappier loading pages for me than FF3. Not sure on the look yet...I don't like how when you maximize the tabs are somewhat cutoff on the top and the status bar cutoff on the bottom.
-
Chrome is nice! I can see myself using this over IE7 in the future...yes i'm an IE7 fan
(Firefox is too over-hyped IMO) A feature I really like is when you type in the address bar it shows similar results to try and guess what website you're trying to get to. (As in the case w/ google toolbar)
As time goes on w/ more settings/features added, I see this browser being the cream of the crop! -
Although the new tab features are really great and innovative, I am not sure about having the tabs at the very top; why change it if it brings nothing new to the table? The second thing missing is the ability to open a new tab by double-clicking on the empty space to the right of existing tabs.

FF3 is THE browser to beat -
im on google chrome now and i love it! it seems faster than FF and i like the look of it how it is more full screen and there are no useless toolbars that take up space; just the URL bar, the tabs, and then the web page...beautiful!

What wouldn't Google know by now? -
As long as they continue their 'Do no evil' mantra it might be ok. But the day they decide to buck that, then they are going to have a ton of information to go to town with.
-
Google probably knows more about me than I do.

Lol np. Anyways, what is "Google Gears?"
It installed along side Google Chrome. Is this needed for Chrome to run or is this a little sneaky thing that Apple likes to do. You install something but you get other apps you didn't ask for. -

Oh, is this why their are two instances of Chrome running in task manager?
I also disabled Google Update. This got added to the startup of windows. -
There should be multiple instances of Chrome in the task manager.. you can even check it out from Chrome. Right click the blue bar and then click on Task Manager. With one tab open you should have 2 or 3 processes.. "Browser", maybe a plug-in process, and then the tab.
You can see how much memory each tab takes from the Chrome task manager. -
-
-
hows chrome stack up to ff3, how much memory does it use? Is it worth downloading?
-
U can see in my screenshot
it shows Memory used by each tab & CPU usage also -
With Chrome freshly opened on a blank page, I'm seeing 2 chrome.exe processes in TM, one is using about 10 BM, and the other is using about 14 MB. But once you go to a site, google.com for example, both memory jumped to 14 and 17 MB respectively. The chrome.exe process using the default chrome page (not the website) uses about 23 MB. -
-
The memory useage is great compared to Firefox 3. I have left Chrome open over night with 22 tabs open and its only using 212MB of RAM in total, Firefox on the other hand is using 357MB of RAM.
There is only 2 things that are bugging me at the moment, no middle click and no Adblock. But I can put up with it for a while.. -
Mozillas Response to Google Chrome
03.09.2008
Mozilla CEO John Lily shared his thoughts on Googles new browser project, Chrome, and what that means for Mozilla.
It should come as no real surprise that Google has done something here their business is the web, and theyve got clear opinions on how things should be, and smart people thinking about how to make things better. Chrome will be a browser optimized for the things that they see as important, and itll be interesting to see how it evolves. Mozillas Europe president, Tristan Nitot also chimed in during an interview with PCPro, stating that they dont view this as a direct attack on Firefox, even if it did catch them by surprise. Ill take another example: just before Microsoft launched Vista, it invited us [to work with it] so that Firefox works better on Windows Vista. Because for it, Firefox being a top-tier application that was very successful - we now have 200 million users around the world - it could not afford to have Firefox run slowly on Vista. Therefore, it helped us improve Firefox for Vista. Thats just the same for Google. It wants Firefox to perform well with its applications, thats for sure. Indeed, it even wants IE to perform well with Gmail and the rest. Its just that it has very limited control over this. Thats why Googles been frustrated and it is launching this Chrome browser.

wow, that about:% is pretty funny.
Didn't the comic say that if there was an issue with one of the tabs it wouldn't affect the entire browser?
Good job Google. >_> -
That's what leads me to believe it was a bit of an Easter Egg.

That pwned me.
