I see, thank you. Why do we install it again? I don't think I've ever used it before unless it does something that I don't know of.

Because that's the standard setup, it has this useless thing which I have no clue what it is called Intel WiFi extensions. that's why I always post the INF only drivers. That's all you need.

Yep, PROSet is taking up 1.3 GB on my laptop for something I don't really know its function. I uninstalled it, and I just used the IT Admin link you posted a page ago for the wireless driver.

Yeah, proset was already useless for consumer use in the late XP era, nevermind Vista, 7, 8, 10.

Hi, Wanted to ask how to properly uninstall the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology so I can install the updated driver from intel. My current driver from dell's driver and download page is causing a BSOD when I copy paste a large file. Do you just do it in windows program and features or Geek Uninstaller? Thank you. error.jpg

Just run the new driver over the top it will update. Uninstalling the IRST Driver/app may result in a non bootable system so you don't wanna do that since the RAID Driver would be missing upon the reboot

    Edit....
Action Needed Before Updating to Windows® 10 October 2018 Update Intel.com

    Description of issue

Windows® 10 October 2018 Update update may be blocked due to issues seen with Intel® Display Audio Driver versions 10.25.0.3 through 10.25.0.8. This may result in excessive processor demand and reduced battery life. A fix for these issues is already included in Intel® Display Audio Driver version 10.25.0.10, which is bundled with Intel® Graphics Driver version 24.20.100.6286 and newer. Intel strongly recommends that all users with 6th Generation (codenamed Skylake) or newer processors confirm that Intel® Graphics Driver version 24.20.100.6286 or newer is installed on their computers before attempting to update to Windows® 10 October 2018 Update.

I don’t have iGPU. But Intel can’t stop supporting own hardware with working drivers due The Redmond Morons two times a year throw out new big OS updates. On Intel’s download page it stands Win 10.

In their changelog, they describe WDDM 2.5 driver for v1809, so I'm hoping it works on 2.4 WDDM as well. Let me check it. I'll be making new windows ISO as well.

@Mr. Fox @Ultra Male +++ Can this be done any better? :D
Intel releases new graphics driver with old bug

Intel brings out new graphics driver
The new graphics driver not only brings improvements, but brings back a bug already eliminated in the previous version. Users who have not yet played the October "MESS" update of Windows 10 on their system may encounter problems installing Windows driver after installing this driver.

An already fixed bug comes alive again when installing the newly released graphics driver from Intel (version 25.20.100.6326). The old audio driver with the version 10.25.00.9, which is bundled with the new video driver, caused problems for the users with an error message when installing the October 10 update of Windows 10 . Intel finally fixed this bug in the version 10.25.00.10 of the audio driver. However, with the installation of the latest graphics driver 25.20.100.6326, the audio driver will be downgraded to the previous version 10.25.00.9 and will again cause problems for the October update:p
    [IMG]
Error message with the audio driver with the version 10.25.00.9

All Intel CPUs of the seventh and eighth generation with the UHD Graphics 610 and better, as well as the sixth generation with at least one HD Graphics 510 and CPUs of the last three generations with the Intel Iris Pro Graphics can be updated with the new driver. In FIFA19 (DirectX 11) now to be corrected errors in rendering of some objects, also the games "Pathfinder: Kingmaker" and "Battlerite Royale" on the Intel UHD Graphics 620, and "Valkryia Chronicles" and "V-Rally 4" supported on Intel Iris Pro Graphics.

However, new bugs may also occur as some players report crashes and freeze while forging Forza Motorsport 7 . Issues were also reported when playing videos on Amazon Prime after the laptop was powered up from Hibernate mode.

Want more? :hi: @Ultra Male
    The date 07/18/1968 is
symbolic Intel was founded that day. The reason this
date is used is to lower the rank of Intel(R) Chipset Device
    Software.
This is necessary because its a supporting utility that
should not overwrite any other drivers. Updating Intel(R)
Chipset Device Software is not needed do not worry if you
    dont have the latest version.

The MEI-Only Installer + the INF for manual installation above contain only the Intel MEI driver without any software Bloatware or system services. Compatible with both Consumer/1.5MB and Corporate/5MB systems.

Disadvantages of the IRST Software installation:
    1. extension of the boot time
    2. additional demand of resources (the IRST Service usually runs permanantly in the background)
    3. possible increase of system instability (some IRST Software versions have severe bugs)

    Tips:
AHCI users, who want a stable, performant system, should only load/install the IRST drivers and not the complete IRST BLOAT package :)

Working link with the drivers and released Notes https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28148/Intel-Graphics-Windows-10-Modern-Drivers but this time called Windows DCH Drivers :D

WARNING: Failure to read the below may result in system instability

These new drivers labeled as either UWD (Universal Windows Driver) or Windows Modern graphics drivers are not backward compatible with our previous graphics drivers that we're now labeling Legacy. This means if later you want to revert to a Legacy driver you will need to uninstall the driver via Windows Apps and Features and reboot the system before installing a Legacy driver. Failure to do so may result in minor to catastrophic issues on your system as well as system instability.

    I found a remedy:
1&2. After first boot after installing IRST I remove it from startup and put IRST service to manual.
    3. That's why read the changelogs and keep a close watch on GP results.

I don’t use IRST. But I’m quite sure most part of people don’t know and let it run all time. They probably don’t even test out what version which gives the best performance results for their setup. All they think is “newer” always has to be better.

    Hi guys.
That is quite old. I want to ask. My current Asus notebook is using an old Intel RST driver (v9.6) in AHCI mode with old Seagate mechanical drive. I know Windows 7 has also built-in MSAHCI driver out of the box.

Question: If I buy a new SSD to install fresh Win7 SP1, will I have to install and load Intel RST driver during installation time? Or will Windows 7 initialize MSAHCI by default to see the drive once the setting is kept as AHCI in BIOS?

BTW, Intel RST supports TRIM with SSDs?

    A bit confused here.

    Thanks!

If you're wanting to install Windows in RAID mode, as in, you have your BIOS set to RAID as well, then you will need to load the IRST Driver as you won't see any drivers at the partition selection screen, so you would then hit LOAD DRIVER and browse to the location where you have placed the RAID Driver (INF version of the IRST) which preferably should be on the same Windows 7 installation flash disk.

    IRST does support TRIM.

Hi. No RAID. Just AHCI which I want in my Asus notebook. Does Windows 7 initialize its own MSAHCI BEFORE installation begins at setup? I mean, we longer required to integrate any AHCI/SATA driver any longer as well as F6 is also should not be required. Can you confirm this?

I know Intel RST another is the option when using SATA drive in AHCI or RAID mode which can be installed after or before Windows 7 installation by hitting load driver. Just want to make sure friend.

    Best regards.
