Im not exacly sure how efficient it is with Crossfire but at least you can now make you own application profiles.
Guru3D post of the driver
I dont know if i can keep my GPU OC if i undervolt to 1.0 but its worth a shot sometime in the future, but its been maybe 2 months since i cleaned the fans so looks like i got to do it again.
Last time i checked my system temps. i had around 70c on the CPU and 80c on the GPU.
But i have no idea how many points im getting so far, know any good ways to measure it?
-
-
The CPU or SMP will give you an estimated, and so will the GPU. But overall the best way to see is just see your average on Kakao stats when everything is working great. Click you name it it will giv eyou your daily average.
As far as undervolting, I doubt you can keep the overclock with the undervolt, but blowing out the heatsinks and fans may definately help. My GPU just never gives me an estimated WU credit. I think all my GPU WU's are 1835pts. Too bad there is no GPU bonus
-
I usually have time to let it run the folding process from when i go to bed until morning on the weekdays.
Guess i gotta find a date when i can run it for 24h and check Kakao stats.
Kakao Stats - All Donors
I booted up the client to do one more folding round while im playing some PS3, but if im reading this correctly it tells me that my estimated PPD on the GPU is 5879,40 while the the CPU will get a estimated PPD of 1678,64.
Once i do enough work units il check the guide you posted to maximize point gathering.
I also enabled the "Enabling FahCore_16 WUs for AMD GPUs" step. -
Hey there DEagleson,
Welcome to the team. Don't forget to get a PASSKEY as well so that you can get some bonus points once you have completed over 10 SMP WU's
Cheers.
-
Quick question:
I didn't get a passkey until much later after I started folding (probably around 70k points). Do I still get the bonus points? or is there a "time limit" on said points once you reach 10+ WUs? -
Its done now.
Thanks for the advice. -
Sadly they only give bonus points for SMP folding, they should roll it out to GPU folding as well
-
@DEagleson, Sometimes it gives crazy high estimated PPD. It needs some time to complete part of the WU to accurately evaluate the PPD. Sometimes it just makes me wish I could get what it says.
@privatejarhead, Since you have more than 10 WU you'll start getting the bonus points for completing SMP WU ahead of time. -
Hey Privatejarhead,
No sweat on the late passkey setup. I did the same thing as well. I didn't find out that the passkey was useful until I had folded for quite a few days.
The passkey will initialise as soon as you add it and then it will start counting every SMP WU that you complete from then on after. So after 10 SMP WU's are completed from after the time that you added in the passkey is when you will start accumulating bonus points.
Edit, Oh I didn't know it back tracked and counted your completed SMP WU's. Well that is even better, awesome stuffs man DR!
Cheers.
Yeh I have no idea about the PPD really lol. All I know is that the estimated Credit is what I like to see. Most of the time my PPD doesn't even seem high enough to warrant the nice large estimated credit points. Other times my PPD is quite a nice high number. It doesn't seem to mater at all for my GPU's. Their PPD is sometimes super high or other times super low but I always get the same estimated credits for them.
Cheers.
-
At least I think it will back track. If not he'll have to wait out 10 WU which could take a few days, but once thats done, it definately helps. Logically I would think it would count previous ones, but it could be that the program doesn't account for that. But I think if your folding on multiple systems or CPUs, then that could speed things up.
I have the passkey for my M11x and R2 which are both my folding systems. I removed F@h from my Inspiron 1720 when I gave it to my bro. Thought about keeping it, but decided not to slow the system down for him.
-
I guess one way to check also is to see if your base credits and estimated credits for the SMP WU differ?
That usually shows whether or not your going to receive any bonus points
Cheers.
-
I can't get multi gpu folding and it is frustrating me...
-
Hmm, it won't pic up the other slots? Have you tried manually adding them? Hmm. Maybe run a search in the F@h support forums based on your setup.
-
It picks them up fine but just won't do anything with them. On the 2700k the 560 and the gt240 are detected fine but it doesn't do anything with them. On the 840 machine, one the 9800gt is folding while the 450 is sitting idle even though fah control says that it is running on all cards....
-
The latest v7 beta client does nothing for my gpu either...
You may need to run the 6.41 gpu client and maybe one per GPU?!?

Looks like my CPU just completed a big WU. Last update for Kakao shows that I submitted two WUs for a total of 8K+ pts. I knew it was working on a big one
-
Holy smokes!
I only get like 1K for each WU I complete... -
It all depends, sometimes I'll get ones that are like 300 pts. Other times I'll get a WU that will take 24hrs or more to complete and those are the ones that are really good. All depends on what you get assigned, and how quick you can complete it. That 8K is my largest single update ever looking at Kakao's history.
-
congrats
Could some of you join world community grid? -
TurbodTalon Notebook Virtuoso
Under what circumstances is it more beneficial to run only the GPU?
-
When you want to contribute yet don't want a completely lagged-up computer
My laptops are both for personal use, so I can't have them lagging up on me while I'm doing schoolwork and all... thus GPU-only folding
-
TurbodTalon Notebook Virtuoso
That probably doesn't keep you near the top of the leaderboard though.
-
Hmm, I only completed 2 WU in the last three hours yesterday, something clearly went wrong
To the batcave to investigate. -
I know
but a GT540m+2630QM won't hold a candle against the powerhouses with Alienwares would it
-
My CPU seems to be unable to start a WU, any idea how can I skip a work unit?
EDIT: Nvm, got it to work, 4500 estimated credits
-
Guys we are now the 899. Officially into the 800's
We rock! -
WOOOOO party like's it's '99!
*Gets drinks, but then is hit outside the head by a mod*
>.> -
Nice!! Were definitely chewing through the ranks!
Awesome job team! -
You could then use the cpu for finding other cores and help to inovate new technology for a greener environment, such as how to make new energy, to improve cleaning the water, for instance.
-
Before i went to bed yesterday i turned on the Folding@Home client and when i check on it in the morning i was greeted by a BSOD. D;
Bootet up the computer and it seems it crashed before finishing the WU that was assigned.
I even downloaded a program called WhoCrashed but it dident find any serious errors?
Of course this is not my first time getting random BSODs so i took a photo of it.
Download link: DropBox
Anyone know what it could have been? -
Can you upload the dump file? It should be in C:\Windows\Minidump.
-
Hmm... If anything is overclocked I would back it down and see if that helps. F@h is more stressful then traditional benchmarks. I know Chief (reborn) had to tone down his OC.

Finally read-up and joined! Using the inspiron in my sig with my gtx460 egpu. also bumped the cpu up half a multiplier using throttlestop. picked up the 460 no problem and running at 99% usage
Got my laptop on a notebook cooler and seems to be keeping the cpu ~54C, and added some fans to my egpu to keep its temps down. it was climbing into the 70's, but now seems to be holding ~60C. Hope I can sleep with the fan noise
-
I dont know what to think of this but there is no minidump folder in that folder path. D;
I even scanned for the file "MEMORY.DMP" but nothing shows up.
I am beginning to suspect my Intel SSD 510 120gb may be the culprit, since i know it locks up and refuses to write sometimes, only read.
It have done so before and Windows will freeze while Steam (on D:\) would run.
If only i had bought a Crucial M4 instead...
My only OC is what AMD Catalyst allows, and that is 710 MHz core and 1000 MHz memory.
With TriXX i can reach 850 MHz core and 1050 MHz memory.
But i will try out the advice. -
bigtonyman Desktop Powa!!!
you running the 460m overclocked or stock? just curious
Looks like i'm about to drop down the list with all these new people coming in.
-
hizzaah's eGPU setup is a desktop GTX 460, not a mobile card.
-
bigtonyman Desktop Powa!!!
ah never mind then, sorry for my ignorance. saw 460 in an inspiron and get really curious on how that was possible.
-
Check if you've enabled dump files. Go to Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > System > Advanced System Settings (sidebar) > Startup and Recovery and ensure that under 'write debugging information' "Small memory dump (256KB)" is selected.

Looks like DR has his folding back on track.
Kakao Stats - Production History - DR650SE A very good 1st half of the day. + DR got another 8k 3hr interval update as well.
+ You've grabbed 4th spot back.
Your on track for your biggest 24hr score for a while.
It looks like TurbodTalon is breaking in his new M18x. So it will take another 10 SMP WU's before he starts cranking out the big credits again. It starts slow for a few days but once the M18x gets going its awesome!
I need to get my M18x back up and folding as well. I've taken a massive hit when its been down the last few days.
AYLE just smashed out an EPIC last 3hr update.
Kakao Stats - Production History - Ayle
24,440
for the last 3hr interval update. Amazing stuffs.
I hope you get your BSOD problem fixed up DEagleson. It is so annoying when it keeps on doing that.
I would try and driversweep your GPU drivers and try to reinstall a fresh set on again. Also if you have any OC applied to the CPU or GPU. Try turning them off and running stock settings for a while.
If it is the SSD you may need to look for a firmware update or registry fix.
Good Luck.
Cheers.
-
Its on, only thing i turned off when i install is auto reboot on BSOD.
Hopefully Intel will release some kind of firmware update soon.
If not im changing SSD or installing windows on my secondary HDD.
Edit: DAMN IT!
4 minutes after i posted this it froze.
Seems like im killing of my server to reclaim that Crucial M4 64gb. >_>
Edit 2: Okay im gonna give it one more shot, downgraded the chipset drivers and reapplied the LPM tweaks.
Hoping for the best, so it should finish folding next time. -
We had on of our best updates as a team today according to the kakao stats 10:00 update. 63.8k points!!
-
hmm, woke up to an unresponsive laptop. I had the lid closed (set for that action to do nothing in windows power options), but when I opened it, it stayed black. had to force shut down, no windows recovered from an error message and no minidump :/
I have a dmp from the other day (from my egpu. still haven't figured out plugging it in without restarting the laptop) though so I do have it on..
Had a 128gb M4 that froze constantly.. Never figured out the problem so exchanged for a new one which I sold to move to the 256gb M4. I'm suspecting that's what happened last night as well, but I'll need to see a freeze happen while i'm using the laptop before I decide to ditch the M4 line altogether. Its quite frustrating lol.. -
My search engine crawler home PC has joined the team this week, it won't be lighting the world on fire with processing power its typically using to crawl, but I'm happy to have just cracked the top 30 and (along with CLeonard and others) am pushing TTGT folks to get on the boat.
Cheers, Jeff -
Welcome to the team, and NBR as well!

4+ years w/ NBR
just not much of a poster ... Thanks though, this is a great effort and I'm happy to support.
-
bigtonyman Desktop Powa!!!
welcome to the team.
-
The team is now over 9,000,000 points! At the trend we're going at, we may reach both the 10,000,000 point and 10,000 WU milestones at around the same time. I'm thinking about creating a special header for the first post to celebrate these momentous feats - so stay tuned!
For those just joining the team, welcome and happy folding!
-
Awesome! +1
-
My daily production has gone down lately, the cpu on my main computer is now getting huge work unit instead of small ones. So I get 5000 credits for one work unit in about 8-9 hours, while I used to get 700/800 credits in ~ an hour.
Meh.
Still, good job for the team! A lot of new people have joined since this thread was promoted in the NBR amazing Thread contest.
