Seems to be. I don't see myself breaking away from #10 unless Prema stays inactive for a few more days. Leaving the i7-2720QM and Quadro 2000M for nearly 20 hours each day isn't getting me the mass amount of points I was hoping for >.<

Too bad there's no folding for Xbox... Microsoft shouldnt have given up so easily.

Is there a way to add machines to your client that aren't on your network? I've got a machine or two back home I could set up to run while at school (hopefully 24/7 lol).. I'd like to be able to monitor them and be able to stop them if I need to though..

xbox's aren't as powerful as the ps3 is, but it would be nice to have my Xbox 360 doing something other than collecting dust. My PC gets all my attention now. :D

Exactly.. I used to play my Xbox 3-6 hrs a day. Then I got RROD and went a while without one. I came into a little money and decided to buy a new one. I got so used to not playing it that it's lucky if it sees 3-6hrs a week lol.

Plus, I got the extended warranty (my previous xbox died just past warranty), so bring on the the work load!

I just started last night and I'm already obsessing over how to get more ppd lol. How many is a ps3 worth? Maybe I can get a few of those on the cheap lol

I have my good old pro console from when they first came out still running. Had the RROD but got it fixed under warrenty. Now its just a shelf ortiment as my PC has better graphics and best of all I don't have to pay to play online. anyways not sure how much a PS3 is worth, but If they are decent, I might have to keep an eye on craigslist and see if I can snag a cheap one.

From what I just read, they're not as useful as they used to be. They only average ~1k ppd. Most people want ~ $200 for one on Craigslist in my area. I could grab a case, CPU, ram and a mobo for that much and just stick my eGPU stuff in there for that much and double its ppd (only utilizes pci 1x speeds as an egpu). We'll see. I need to get situated at my new job before I start planning any more expenses lol

My 64gb M4 have been running stable on the server 24/7 so at least i know that unit is stable.
    Either the Intel SSD 510 is to blame or my Clevo hates SSDs. D;

I ran HDTune Pro after i crashed again last night, think my folding came to about 30% complete.
According to the error scan my SSD is at 100% health.
    This doesent make sense. D;

Yeah, I ran every hd test I could think of and came up with nothing.. It performed fantastically when it wanted to.. Had a thread going on the crucial support forums and no one was able to come up with anything. Crucial will tell you to power cycle the drive, it's helped some people.. I'm thinking it was just a bad drive, but for a while I suspected the compatibility with my systems ATA drivers. I wiped and re-installed them a million times and it didn't help. The 128gb froze within hours of installing it, and it would be completely random after that.

Haven't seen anything similar with the 256gb yet, so my fingers are crossed. I did have a freeze the other day, but im fairly certain that was due to my eGPU. Ive been meaning to update the drives firmware to 0309, just in case it has any bug fixes other than the 5200hr thing.

got a crucial from amazon on the way(ordered yesterday). Hope I don't have any issues with it. Reason I went with the m4 is that as I heard that they were very dependable.

That's what I thought as well, but I'm sure I'm part of the minority as the M4 has become very popular since they've been droppin in price.

Bought the 128gb from superbiiz back in October I beleive, so that could be the reason lol. The 256gb is from amazon, and it arrived with 0009FW so hopefully they've gotten the kinks out of the newer batches if what I experienced was indeed a faulty drive.

Just checked and my gpu wu had failed earlier :/ guess it didn't like the increased overclock I was trying lol. I clicked around a bit and got it to restart, so i lowered the OC. hopefully everything is running smooth when I wake up. I'm officially shuttin myself down for the night lol. Got my first class @10 so I don't have to wake up too early

I dont even get crash dumps, even if its enabled so now im certain my SSD gets stuck and stops writing.

Last resort: secure erase it with Intel SSD toolbox.

But i am monitoring the folding now so hopefully it will finish.

My GPU has officially refused to fold. Now down to a P9700 SMP:2 and a 2670qm SMP:8. I gather the reason is that the new nVidia BETA driver (295.51) has some sort of disdain for F@H. On the plus side, I can now play Project: C.A.R.S. at 45 fps with all settings @ HIGH @ 1080p on my NP8130 :D.

I pm'd DR, but maybe he's busy. Nando (thread starter of diy eGPU thread) said was cool if we advertised in the eGPU thread for folding. There are some real powerhouses over there and that thread gets a lot of traffic.

If there seems to be some interest, I'm sure he'd put a banner or speil on the first page where it'd be seen more.

Id do it, but I don't know enough about folding yet to be able to accurately describe it to people. So if any of you more knowledgable users want to do it, I'm sure there's plenty of eGPU users (like myself) who'd love to run their machines with us in the name of science! The team is growing, a little advertising can only help things along

Great job man. You've sure been giving me a run for my money after you added that extra machine. Its doing wonders for your folding. Great stuff, your pushing us along nicely.

I agree some more eGPU folders would be awesome.

Help please... I just installed the f@h gpu client. Computer is a Compal FL92 with C2D T8300, ATI 4670 gpu, 3 gigs RAM, running Win Vista Business 32 bit. I had to start the f@h with "-forcegpu ati_r700" then it downloaded FahCore_11.exe successfully, but all I'm getting is early unit ends.

Here is a sample from the log file:
This is from the first work unit, but after that it has kept downloading new units with every one giving the same result.

Edit: The problem appears to be a driver error affecting ATI HD 4xxx cards which doesn't have a solution yet other than to try older drivers. Oh well, I guess I'll be logging off f@h :(

Now guys, I know what you're thinking. Did Jordan (that's me) really just spend the last 45 rigging a usb powered fan, a bunch of foil, a few yards of electrical tape and some plastic cups together to make an air intake to draw air from outside to help cool his eGPU box while folding?

    Does this answer your question?

    Does it help?
    - Not at first. I think my problem is that the fan at the window isn't powerful enough to keep up with the gpu fan. when I pointed another usb fan at the gpu from inside the box, temps dropped ~7C (hovering at +/- 62C for those wondering).

    Was it entertaining?
    - also eh. made me realize how difficult it is to shape foil without it collapsing the airway :p

It would definitely work better if I had a larger intake fan, and some of that flexible aluminum ducting.

If ever I was to build an extreme desktop or folding machine, I would rig it to a cheap window AC unit and stick it in a guest room lol.. unless somehow I won the lottery and went quad (or more in the future) sli. then I'd invest in watercooling in a heartbeat.

Great! No rush, I was just being anxious lol. hope your wife is ok!

there i am, in this club. i'm contributing my home server at 50% cpu. it's a passive cooled dual core system, so it might not do much per se. on the other hand, it's a 24/7 system, and it doesn't have much better things to do, anyways.

But so far, i see only 0%. CPU is taxed, but otherwise no clue if it works, yet..

ok, works. 0.8% so far.. TPF: 13min.

Thanks, she'll be ok. It'll pass hopefully.

Havn't done much research, but what exactly is an eGPU? I'll have to go back and read that thread, but I'll be contacting Nando tonight when I get off work.

This team is doing great! It's expanding everyday, and we're adding more and more clients. Since my wife is out of town for the week I scooped up her Inspiron 15 and am running F@h on it. The GPU isn't capable of folding, as it wouldn't let me add a GPU client, but it's working the SMP which is only a 2.2GHz C2D. Not many points, but points are points right?

I also was running dual monitors lastnight, using my projector, and something wonky happened, my GPU clocks automatically went to 740/1000 when they are set to stock 715/900. Not sure how it automatically turned on AMD Overdrive, but it messed me up. This causesd the display driver to crash and when I got up this morning, I found a GPU client had crashed and wasn't folding. So hopefully I didn't lose too many points. I reflashed the vbios this morning and disabled Overdrive so as to not have any more issues.

Keep up the great work guys!! We'll be hitting 10 million points in just a few days at this rate!

    We hit 10,000 WU!

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm currently on 12.1, I didn't know about the 12.2 Preview but I'll try it when I get home tonight. I did a bit more digging in the f@h forum and found that the last known working version is 11.10. Apparently something got broken in 11.11 and later versions.

I stopped f@h after letting it churn away for a few hours last night with no results, but I see I got on the board: 257 WU with 0 score!

My precision has been running non-stop 24/7 since I learned about F@H, and the first time it finished a WU I got all the credit.

Don't know what the problem is.. Maybe give it a few hours and check the stats on the official site?

Hmm, it may be because it is submitting failed WU. I wonder if there is anyway to have the F@h staff remove that.

Yep, every single one failed within seconds of starting up. The problem is with the ATI drivers for my HD 4670, I'll try again tonight with the latest driver and if that doesn't work, I'll look for the 11.10 driver and roll it back.

Yea, I'm using 11.10 at the moment. Working quite well. Meant to say in my earlier post to check the log.

    EDIT: Post 6666... I've had a killer 24 Hours!! 29K :D
