Okay. Give me a day or so, I'll mod using the same method as the Mobility Firepro drivers. Instead of modifying existing values like I did for the mobility drivers, I created new values for your system and apparently it won't work this way. I'll do it the other way and post up the mod by tomorrow.

EDIT: Took a quick look, will use the V9800's installer options for your system. Because there is no HD6870 equivalent FirePro card, I'll just use that and see what it does since it's from the 6xxx series of cards.

EDIT 2: Never mind, I had some spare time. Same instructions as before, modded files are being uploaded. Will edit once done.

    EDIT 3: See new post.

Sounds good. Looking forward to trying it. Would be awesome to have crossfire firepro support :) Hope this isn't taking too much of your time :p

As it turns out, uploading the files takes longer than modding the files :p

Download the modded files here, same procedure.

However, if this does not work, right click your 6990m in device manager, select update driver software and browse to [location of extracted files]\Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF and see if it will install from there.

Also, it's 12 midnight here, but since I'm a very late sleeper I'll be up for about 2 more hours, feel free to ask til then :)

Sounds good. I'll try it again when I get off work. Won't be for another 5 hours or so. Thanks again, I'd rep you but gotta spread the love apparently.

EDIT: Were at 3002 in the team rankings! Another mile stone is only about an hour or two away!

    Oh well. Tomorrow then :)

I'll be doing some testing of the Mobility FirePro drivers when my friend receives his NP8170 with a 6990m. If he lets me I'll do a quick test to see if it is supported, if Folding@Home runs without problems etc. Then the Mobility part of the equation will be done with. Whereas for CrossFire, if this doesn't work then there's not much more I can do :(

    Stupid question.

is there a way to configure the GPU Client to get more points? My 560m has been doing the same 4 proteins (6801 to 6804) and the 260m machine has gotten almost exclusively the 576x series, and that's why i have so many WUs and so few points. What are tips for getting more pts / WU. :D (I'm a competitive soul)

I'm only going to run the CPU on my R2 and my spare M1530 from now on. My Wife's XPS CPU i7-2720 is hitting the high 90s C. Too high for me. I might catch DR...never going to catch the Chief. I would like to see how high we can rank. I would imagine the highest ranking teams have very beastly setups.

I'm doing each one in a shade under 4.5 hrs on the 560m. I'd just like a little variety :D. It's nice I can do them in 2% of the required time, but it gets monotonous :p

Well, seems like they're focusing a lot on Alzheimer's disease since 6801-6804 are on a single amyloid of Alzheimer's disease. I guess it's not for us to decide, since Stanford would probably want more data on Alzheimer's to make a breakthrough :)

Welcome Thierry19! Looks like he started folding just before noon yesterday and has been pumping out quite a few points working with 3 clients. Looks like a nice desktop system your folding on! i7 2700k @ 3.5Ghz and GTX 570 @850/1700/2100 1.038V

If Theirry has a GTX 570, we should see him climbing EXTREMELY quickly! (Good for us in my book, I don't mind more desktops with GTX 570s / 580s and Radeon 6970s and 6990s helping in the least).

Funny thing I noticed: My score is an x11 multiple! 112233 :D

Started folding again after being away for a few days! :)

I'm adding into the mix a home server with an NVIDIA GTS 250. I'm having some ongoing problems with it - an UNSTABLE_MACHINE failure occurs occasionally. Now, it's folding on project 5772 but the credit and timeouts are unknown.

Update: I may have a power supply issue going on, so for now I'm removing the GTS 250 and only folding on the CPU (SMP). At least I'll be saving some power this way.

I'm still not sure what I'm doing, but it appears it is working right O_O What do you mean I am "working with 3 clients"?

Since the power button on my case is not working, I kind of have to leave my beast running the whole time, so I might as well use all this power.
    Glad I can help :D

EDIT: Also, just a technical detail, but I am folding at 800/1600/2100 @ .975V. It helps keeping the temperature at a good level while working on long and heavy work.

Awesome man. Your system is a beast. Are you folding on two gpu's? By 3 clients I mean it looks like your folding on three different chips. Like two gpu's and a cpu.

I think some pig put TNT in my rig, it simply won't run F@H on any client version. It would download the WU, then refuse to process it because of some exception, rinse and repeat. I gave it up after a while. Apparently a desktop HD3650 doesn't play nice with F@H. My other laptop is folding though, and it should be done with its first one soon since it's a computer that my family uses very frequently :)

Hooray for getting over 2,000 WUs done, getting into the TOP 2,500, and over 1.8 million aggregate points! Let's keep this up for 2012 and beyond!

    Jason

I've noticed that on my oldsager, where I have the NP8662 folding with the v7 client, that it's attained 10WU and an 80% completion rate and has begun getting on the SMP client the "estimated points" as a bonus. Although it may only complete 2 SMP WUs / day, this means an extra 3k to 5k points / day for me! I finally have gotten on the good side of F@H! :D (now if only I could get the 560m to work nicely with v7 I could have 4 clients going at once for GOOD).

Kourtathor is still getting TINY proteins.

I have to report this: JJB's Tweak has knocked about a half hour per WU off my GPU folding for my NP8130.

Hey DR, does the new package I made a few days ago work, or does it still refuse to install?

I'll have to try today, I just got back from NYC so haven't had any time lately, but it's on my to do list. Also got my new heat sink so hopefully that solves my overheating issues.

If it makes you feel any better DR, my CPU die is warped. I'm not even kidding. I also ordered a spare CPU heatsink, thinking it would fix my issues, but NAY! I took a straight-edge ruler to both the heatsink and CPU die one day and that's when I found it. I have to repaste pretty frequently, which sucks. I'm sure you remember 5150Joker? He was the one that gave me the idea to try the CPU retention mod. It worked really well for a while. I had the CPU over-volted to 150 and was running some insane stuff with ThrottleStop and could never get the CPU above 70°C. One day things went all to hell. I removed the mod, and here I am today with a warped CPU die.

Hmm, well the same behavior is on all my CPUs which makes me think it's the heatsink. I have a new heatsink with me but haven't had time to test it. So are you using the CPU still? Just redoing the heatsink tension every so often? How do you deal with it?

Yeah, same CPU. I just have all four heatsink screws fully tightened. I tried the method of leaving the keyboard out and adjusting the sink screws until it was perfect, but I never got anywhere. I just repaste once the temperatures start to get out of control. When I pull the sink I can see where the CPU was in contact with the sink very firmly and the other parts not so much.

A warped CPU die? Really? Does the heat/stress get that bad?

No, probably not on a system that hasn't been 'tampered' with, so to say. I used a retention mod that put a pretty questionable amount of pressure on the CPU die. It was a stupid idea, but my warranty has been gone for ages, so I didn't really care.

Same as the GPU retention mod. You move the tiny 'half-moon' washers from the bottom of the heatsink to the top, right under the screws. You could tighten the screws almost all the way down on the GPU retmod. If you do that on the CPU retmod, you are going to break something. One guy ruined his mobo and CPU all in one swoop.

We got Ayle, too put up another rig, and TANware. KEEP up the folding... if you get a passkey and with passkey, get 10 SMP WUs done, you start getting bonus points (and if ya have a fast rig, it can be thousands of points per SMP WU).

Essentially, yes. It worked quite nicely on the GPUs when people first started doing it. CPU...not so much.

I am not sure what is considered a fast SMP rig. I have a q9200, I am trying at 2.66 GHZ but not sure with folding it will be stable as the cores are 80-85c. At 2.4 GHZ the cores are max 80c so to fold I may have to turn it down a bit.

With the older CQD is would be better, faster, to run 2 SMP dual thread if we could set affinity to core 0+1 and 2+3 as then the L1's and L2's would dedicate to the threads rather than have to load to both of the physical cores................

TAN, do NOT overclock. F@H doesn't like OC'ing because of the fact the data cannot be corrupted by instability. IT says so in their FAQs, forum, etc.,

Alright boys, slowing down production. I can't stand my fans whining all of the time. Both of the Wife's rigs will still be going though. Hopefully we are in the top 2K soon!

At 2.4 GHZ the Q9200 is correct clocked. It is an Xtreme CPU, the GPU is also correct clocked. To be comfortable to leave the machine alone I have to run at 2.4 GHz. When using the system I have to pause F@H. May not be the fastest in the world but I'm getting some production out..............

My system was flooded with the defaullts in v7. I set to SMP3 from SMP4 (-1) in settings and set the GPU to 50%. Monitored GPU averages about 90% as it bounces between 80% to 99% but works fine. Now while a bit slugish I can fold and use the system and only pause when more intense work is being done.

It would be nice if there were selectable configurations while the client is running so we could turn it up or down when needed.............

Tan, Read and apply JJB's SSD Tweak. It's helped my system when I want to use it while folding, with minimal increases in heat
