Just FYI, I tried this driver on my XPS M1330 with Vista x64 and it ran my temps up really really high. My 8400M GS was idling around 75 C and during gameplay it would get up above 110 C. Way too hot for me.

Yep, I ran in to that the other day and forgot about it as I am all over the place trying to learn and round up drivers. Thanks!

I am interested in going to x64 for my 4 gigs on my new m1530, I went to the vista site where you can order the x64 dvd by entering your product code, the problem is I cant find this anywhere on the 32-bit dvd that came with my dell laptop. The sticker has a 20-character key of some kind but the site will only take a 25-character key.

My question is where do i find it? and is there a different way to get x64? thanks!

    I must have gotten lucky - I ordered a 64-bit DVD last week w/o the code: http://www.windowsmarketplace.com/content.aspx?ctId=444

I must have clicked it at the right time, becasue you can't do it now!

Did you look at the sticker on the bottom of the m1530 - or use magical jellybean.

Hey guys, I know the idea was kicked around a little while ago, how about a Sig Tag for us x64'rs?

I just had a Sig graphic made at http://graphxservice.com/, and I am really, really, really pleased with the work Arkit3kt did with my sig (and yes, the error is REAL...haha).

What do you guys/gals think? We could have something snazzy, perhaps it would say "Join Us" and/or "click here", or something that that effect.

Well the code worked, but the page for getting the 64-bit dvd if you have the 32-bit gave me a little warning saying there is "no offer."

Is there a way to go from 32-bit vista to 64-bit vista without actually buying another vista for $150-200?

Do a search for "Orev" he has a guide that will give you all the information you could ever want about going 32-bit to 64-bit.

No, you don't have to install Dell anything, that includes Mediawhatever, if you prefer not to have it...but then the button will do who-knows-what if pressed =P

Let me rephrase...you don't have to install any of Dell's programs/utilities, unless they are hardware specific, per se Dell Integrated Webcam driver (which comes with it's little console).

I had to uninstall my logitech software and install (wrong) M1730 sigmatel V64 drivers on my M90 before I could "see" SP1 in windows update; reinstalled the original drivers post SP1

(didnt have to do this for RC1)

just info for anyone not able to see the update

Life is so fine with x64 *touchwood*! :D

All the latestestestest drivers for ALL the hardware.

All the updates installed, post SP1.

    And the system information.

After I re-installed the OS from scratch this last weekend, I also updated all the softwares that I use (Winamp, Adobe PS 7.0, Office 2007 (to SP1 and further), uTorrent, Winamp, Windows Live Messenger, Opera etc) to their latest versions and all the latest patches were applied as well in other cases wherever possible. And I just used Google and this forum for help/reference.

I couldn't be happier with x64. More stable and secure than XP Pro SP2 ever was or will be.

    Post your pics. :D

I have yet to move to SP1 as...nobody has shown me any drastic changes as of yet. I am waiting but, still seem to only see difficulties by many.

Why upgrade if its not worth it?

Alot of people seem to give it a thumbs up with the improvments. I think its worth trying SP1

Maybe save an image of your HD and rollback if it doesnt go well.

Okay ive finally installed SP1 w/ standalone installer even though i do have a problematic conexant driver. I was considering to do a clean install before installing SP1 to reduce issues but it went very well that i didnt have too.

Installation went very well, took about 30-40mins. Interesting thing is i gained 10gb of HD space instead of losing it

Ive only had it for 4 hours and restarted it about 4 times already. All seems stable. Booting up is slower but expected. It fixed minor issues i was having

Id give SP1 a thumbs up.

Everybody xpects the ssds to drop like mad any day now. I have been waiting along with everybody else. A 128Gb ssd will probably run you in the upper grand mark for 2 years I will bet.

There is also the price for performance. The new mlc ssds dont touch the 100MB/s transfer mark but they are better than hds so....they will merit that 40% price drop.

I would expect the 64Gb Samsung to be under a grand very soon paralleled by the Mtron which may or may not force a price drop if they can get their product out at 40% cheaper than the original of the same size.

In my opinion, the killer here is the reseller pricing which appears to be a 70-100% price jump in some cases.

I apologize if this is dup'ed - but search does not work right now on the forum - I have joined the 64-bit club with my new 1720. My clean install was with the 64-bit Ultimate disc. All went pretty well - just a stumble here and there (had trouble finding my Intel WiFi-N card and then took some time to get the driver to "stick") but overall pretty easy. I am trying to install the Sound Blaster Audigy Advanced MB (dl'ed the Vista 64 version) program that came with the 1720, but it says "unable to detect a supported product". Does this have to do with the Sigmatel drivers? Sound works fine, this just will not load.

I know I am missing something easy! Thanks...

That's odd, here's what Adobe gives me:

    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=6b3af6c9&sliceId=2

    Issue
Adobe Flash Player is not supported for playback in a 64-bit browser. However, you can run Flash Player in a 32-bit browser running on a 64-bit operating system.

    Reason
Adobe is working on Flash Player support for 64-bit platforms as part of our ongoing commitment to the cross-platform compatibility of Flash Player. We have not yet announced timing or release dates.

    Solution
To use Flash Player to view Flash content on a 64-bit operating system, you must run a 32-bit browser.

Yessir, but I use FF so it doesn't matter. When I do use IE, I probably split time b/t 32- and 64-bit, depending on whether or not I need flash.

I'd be willing to join the little x64 helper gang, and start with a question of my own:
any1 else got quicktime issues, which then carries over into itunes which doesnt work either?
wen i open the quicktime player and itunes for that matter, it just gives me a black window inside the grey outline... i feel like its a 64 issue, not vista...

Anyone out there using a Razer DeathAdder on their Vista x64 setup?

    Any problems? Likey/No likey?

Just curious, I wasted my second Creative Fatility mouse (trigger button failure, blegh), and I am in the market for a new mouse for CS:S.

Good thing I got that Creative POS FAR...=D

I re-installed Vista Ultimate 64 with SP1 this past week and so far everything is running much smoother than when I first bought my notebook thanks to improved drivers, OS, and a "Clean Vista install WITH NO ACTIVATION". :)

Just installed the vista x64 on my pavilion. Euh.... seems to work like the 32bit. At the exception that the graphic speed seems a little slower than vista 32. My graphic index is rated at 2.5 on 64bits and 3.0 on the 32bits.

Do you guys know a way to increase the speed of that video card under X64. I got a Nvidia 7150 video card. I have the latest 64 bit drivers downloaded from HP website.

Besides this, all seems to work fine.
