Has anyone experienced Apps under Settings crashing with "SystemSettings.exe" exception (Array bounds exceeded) after using OOSU10? Reinstalling windows second day in a row now and always getting this error after I tweak the OOSU10 settings (using the settings guidelines from first post in this thread)

In any case, the software is quite amazing at making Win10 more or less usable. And thanks for the settings guide!

?cortana is a voice assistant that is very helpful and why would you disable search
-
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
2) Anything you ask the assistant is sent to Microsoft, you may not care but some people do.
3) search? search what? Disabling Cortana doesn't mean you don't have search, look at the image above where I showed you how there is a search built in to the Open Search Start Menu.
4) Speaking of search, try this experiment.
Go to your This PC (Explorer), in the top right, type *.pdf and hit enter, then start counting how many seconds it takes Windows to locate all PDF files on your computer with its magical Windows Search Indexing Service.
It would take north of 50 seconds to complete the full search on an SSD.
Now try installing Everything which doesn't even rely on the Windows Search Indexing service and do the same test, it would take literally 0.5 seconds to find every PDF file. That's just one example.
Finally, do what you wish, it's your computer but just sayin.... -
yeah OK....I'm a rookie with windows 10 miss windows 7....so your saying it will speed up the computer by disabling it?
I personally have nothing to hide and couldn't care less if microsoft hears what im saying. I'll disable search indexing and see what that does to performance, I thought it means disabling the search box on the bottom left. i disabled all services I didnt need and when I search in that box for say intel graphics control panel it takes less than half a second not 50 seconds, but I digress I think we are talking about two completey different search features...
your the expert, I come here to learn...not to argue and be put down for enjoying something someone else does not...we are all entitled to our opinions and when someones opinion is not the exact same as yours just nod and smile you know. here in canada and the western side of the world we learn these basic social skills in grade 1 and 2. not so sure about the far east..
but watch....I agree with you I digress, i'll take your advice as I know you know what your talking about. so Thanks -
Useful? ORLY? How so?
Cortana is NOT a necessary component for Windows Search to function. It's just a gimmick piece of crap to assist the Redmond Retards with data collection and their ever-advancing privacy invasion quest. Windows Search works flawlessly with Cortana completely removed.
Sure, it seems cool like something geeky from a corny sci-fi movie, but Cortana, the AI digi-slut is no bueno. The Micro$lop Digi-Nazis probably felt like they needed something to compete in their battle for the Stupidity Crown against the likes of the other digi-sluts, Alexa and Siri. But, they're all just worthless AI tramps.Last edited: Apr 3, 2020 -

As for the app search you are talking about, that is fine to keep my only gripe is with Cortana, not the fact that I care or not about Microsoft knowing anything about me but I just don't like being spied on if you know what I mean. To each his own off-course. -
-
so your saying disable cortana?
I do kinda like it your going to hate me for saying that but I like saying....hey cortana whats the weather like in osoyoos or medicine hat ecetera....not much other use for it besides weather......is there an app for weather on the main screen? and thanks guys im truely grateful you guys know so much and are willing to share !! props to @Papusan and @Mr. Fox and @SpartanMr. Fox likes this. -

I don't like any of them... Cortana, Siri, Alexa or Google Assistant. I'd rather just enter my search information the old fashioned way and not have any kind of stupid AI crap "helping" me.
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/25118-enable-disable-cortana-windows-10-a.html
The main point of my last post was to clarify that Cortana is NOT a necessary component of Windows 10 and if the Redmond Retards were interested in making people happy they would make removing Cortana the Digi-Slut a simple one-click nuke-it operation. But, they're Nazis and don't give a rat's butt about the people that don't want their bloatware trash.Last edited: Apr 5, 2020Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

Does Task Manager show Cortana running?
Nice that LTSC does not have Cortana at all. Nothing needs to be disabled because it's not there.

Hello, new to all of this. I have just finished reading this thread. Just got a new Dell Inspiron (5585) computer about a month ago. I have not done anything to it thus far except to add Brave browser, a year subscription to Mcafee (installed just yesterday by a Mcafee employee via remote computer (I did not have the knowledge or skill to do it myself), and just now, I installed O and O Shutup10. I think I installed it correctly and did the "apply only recommended settings". I then did a restart of the computer. Do I need to do anything else?
I will slowly, over the next few months, make a few further changes. I am hoping that this app/mod will do most of what I want done. From reading on here, I know that it is not near what most of you folks think should be modded/changed, but, I have to be careful, since my wife uses this computer and is very particular to what I can do to it. Any quick suggestions for a newbie to look at next?
I will continue to read the tweaks and tips section. But, I doubt that I can do the "clean Installation". Thanks again for all the work and effort and time you people put into these tutorials, suggestions, mods, etc. -

I don't remember what was ticked or not, so I did open it up and redid the apply only recommended changes, so I assume that is fine and will make it last?
