Since I use an Acer laptop, I simply removed all of it's programs (sans the needed drivers). -
That startup file is amazing... If you are not using a program, IMHO, there is no need to allow programs to continually run in the background. You might chuckle at this but here is mine...
IGFXPers/Sidebar/IntelAHCI and MS Security Essentials.
MSE, for what its worth, is the best program for keeping a low boot time and tying up very little of your system resources. Some anti-virus programs that most rely heavily on easily add 10-45 seconds to start time and run very heavy in the background.
Another key element is turning off ALL automatic updaters as they add tons of time to the boot.Attached Files:

Aiming at 15 sec with my SSD -
The only way u r getting that low is with a frsh install....

Well since I'll have to do a fresh install when I get my SSD, I guess I could!

Holy smoookes! That is fast!
I managed to get mine down to 20secs on regular boot, but 9s.. Its madness! -
8.97 sec
And it could boot even faster...
I didn't uncheck all the startup items
I didn't touch most of the services that I normally useAttached Files:

And with a little more tweaking.... 8.174

what are you hdd dual ssd in raid 1 or 0 ? -
single SSD and yes this is with no gui on boot
-
Ya and what did that ssd cost again eheheheh? Nice score...
-
hehe an arm and a leg actuallyand more than two SSDs RAIDed that would give better results...
-
For optimising boot performance and diagnosing issues, use windows performance toolkit available with the win 7 sdk supplied by MS
Seems to perform tasks similar to bootvis, but for win 7 -
No tweaks

@sgilmore62
Those times are on the Qosmio with the X18-M or with the RAID desktop setup? -
This thread seems to be forgotten and sgilmore62 is approaching my previous score, so here is a new record that needs to be broken
7.378 sec -
I downloaded the boot timer but for some reason it won't run, when I go to run it it says that it has to restart the computer to measure boot time, I select yes and it restarts, when the system restarts it doesn't display the boot time.
I have reloaded the program several times but doesn't want to work, any suggestions?
I am running windows 7 home premium. -
try first to Change User Account Control Settings (never notify) reboot then run the program as administrator and select not to ask you everytime when this program is to be executed.
you have to do the procedure quite a few times (try to experiment with the startup items and services for better boot times)
*EDIT*
Forgot to mention that you have to disable the UAC just for the purposes of this test, after you finish you have to enable it for security reasons -

I agree about the CPU and SSD. About the Win version, since those times were achieved under heavy modifications to the OS it won't make any difference if it's home professional or ultimate.
For the SSD and CPU I can add them as long as those in the list PM me with the information. -
Considering the computer uses ~1.30Gb of Ram with nothing open, I consider it a respectable time.....21.184 seconds

Getting some Momentus XT's. One for the U-81a and two for a Raid0 in my P7805-FX. I think I should be able to lower my times somewhat then.

Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
Stamatisx i dont use the two ssds in RAID 0 but in Ahci for the time being (because of no trim support for raid enabled drives). so please correct this in your list. -
Anyone who wants to add or update his score please copy the whole list and add it to your post.
