Even I'm waiting for @Phoenix and others review about RS3. I thought you will be an early adopter of RS3, never mind!!. I'm afraid that W10 RS3 would break VS and others IDEs.

I regret jumping ship. I had everything perfect in RS2, after several hours of tinkering. RS3 when I play Hearthstone my FPS is limited to 30 fps... something to do with Nvidia and RS3 though not win 10 maybe, not sure, but I did not have this issue in RS2 (briefly I did but it went away and I don't know the variable of why) - but if it isn't broken and security is top notch, don't fix it... = my lesson of the day.

I miss the old ForceWare drivers when we were really excited about the next driver coz most of the time they improved performance. Now with each driver we just cross our fingers and hope our GPUs don't turn into....

Yeah I was about to say mine is still right, but I have ShutUp10 set to load and refresh every time I login with task scheduler. I apply every single setting in ShutUp10, probably is overkill, but meh I don't use any of it so eh.

you don't need to load it every time you start Windows.

Basically, you apply the settings and reboot, then run it again, you will notice that Telemetry 3 of 3 got re-enabled so you revert it back and reboot again and your settings will stick forever. No need to load it every time

I also created a Shortcut for O&O Shutupt10 which basically launched O&O ShutUp10 without creating a restore point, who needs restore points? only n00bs :D

    Code:
    "D:\Software\O&O ShutUp10\OOSU10.exe" /nosrp

Yeah, I have never done a restore point either.

One thing I have learned from this experience though, is that my own personal situation - I never actually move around much, I only got a gaming laptop for graduate school in another country... but once I am all set up... I actually never move around... I just will fly home when I graduate and set it back up... in retrospect I would have just bought a micro ATX mobo and a 1180 ti, and just buy the power supply/corsair AIO/monitor from Amazon UK. nothing fancy, just a cheap 1440p or something, then sell it quick towards graduation time.

laptops definately have their downsides unless you spend like 3 grand. i got a super good deal on this laptop at only $1360 free ship no tax launch day for kaby lake laptops promotional price... so I am not unhappy or anything, but i cant realy game at 17.3"... battlefront 2 for example just looks so squeezed....

yeah I don't understand how @Mr. Fox can enjoy his beast MSI 16L13, even though it's powerful, I just can't ever imagine looking at a laptop with lesser than 17.3 inch screens. Heck even 17.3" is too small, the best size was the Alienware 18 with 18.4 inch screens....ohhh the good days......

27" 1440p high refresh is the sweet spot for me. not sure if I want to make the move to Ultrawide 21:9 3440x1440 yet... watching gameplay of it on youtube not sure its for me... (yes I know this is unrelated to laptops)

it would be nice if some company came out of nowhere and was like yo! $1500 gets you a gtx 1080, 18.4" 200hz VA panel, cofee lake laptop!

oh Gods why is Elon Musk so concentrated on crappy Mars... when he could make all my dreams come true... I'll never understand peoples fascination with Mars, there is nothing for us there lol.

something of that size though, your not going t Starbucks with it or really being all that portable, wouldn't you better off just building a Mini-ITX 1080 ti rig, and buying a gaming monitor for both home, and whatever office you spend majority of your time in? its not like it takes that long to setup keyboard mouse and plug in a monitor.

Well, I almost always use it in my lap only about 16 to 20 inches from my face. At such close range it does not seem like a small screen. If I put it on a desk and sit in an office chair a 15 inch screen is too small because it is far away.

I had Alienware 18, M18xR2 and M18xR1 at the same time as the P570WM and Sky X9 developer unit. The difference between 17 and 18 inch screens is difficult to discern. They seem very close to the same size while using them. At least they did to me. I never really noticed a meaningful difference between them.

This seems silly to me, no offense. Bluetooth keyboard/mouse, one HDMI 2.0 cable, power cable for monitor and PSU in a small micro atx build... your talking 2 cables. you could have a proper system... and much more immersive experience with a 27" 1440p 165hz IPS monitor.

I am using Enterprise with a local account now. I have no reason to use my Micro$loth login any more. Done with Gears of War 4, so there is no reason for Windows Store or any UWP feces to be resident on this OS. I do not believe the chintzy XBOX manure does anything to improve gaming. Maybe it does something special with UWP posterior orifice games, but otherwise I don't think so.

We could start a band called Anemic Silicon and all of the band member could wear Alienware masks.
Right now I am just using the one Windows decided to install without my consent (385.54). I decided to pretend I am an ignorant noob and let Windows make my two RS3 systems part of their PC zombie fleet to see how bad performance gets screwed up in the next few days/weeks. I have disabled all of the worthless Defender trash though.

Ok did my second clean install for tonight and everything seems to be doing fine except my Nahimic 2 program isn't working correctly. Redownloading the driver and hoping an uninstall/reinstall will fix that. One feature that I lost which I used quite a lot was being able to type in a name of a program/file in the start menu to quickly find something on my computer. Now I did a **** load of things so I don't remember how I turned this off. Anyone want to point me in the right direction to reenable this? Thanks

Edit** Also it looks like with this update all my powerplans got ****ed which sucks because now Dragon Center doesn't work properly and I switched between performance and Eco a lot. Any fixes to this? Thanks

    1) this build has the Cortana Virus disabled, hence the search in the start menu won't work. Use Classic Shell and the search will work in that

Here is my Classic Shell XML File Settings

    2) As mentioned earlier, now you only have the balanced power plan, simply create a high performance power plan and a power saver and when switching in Dragon Center it will also switch your power plan accordingly.

    First world problems

    Say NO to Cortana!

Using legacy Windows search from the aftermarket Start menu or from the upper right corner of any open Explorer Window is superior to using Cortana the Digi-Slut anyway. It only searches for file names like I want it to, and does not search for other silly crap like words in emails, documents and the internet as Cortana does.

OK, Brother @Phoenix here is a bug I never saw until RS3. Outlook was driving me nuts not connecting and saying the connection was metered even though I had it turned off. I would see this message every time I opened Outlook.
    False-Error.jpg
Here is how the Windows setting was, which is NOT metered. Even so, I still got the error message above on both computers running RS3.
    Metered_Off.JPG
To fix the bug, open Regedit with NSudo and tweak as shown below. Change 2 to 1 and you are good to go.
You must reboot for the changes to take effect.

Is there a bloatware free addition of Windows 7? like can I just run WSUS offline updater and leave automatic updates off on windows 7 off a clean install? if yes - do i check security only on wsus offline updater? or just leave it at default... I know Win 7 patched in some telemetry later in its life cycle, but there is not ShutUP10 for that... I honestly have no need for windows 10, all my games are still DX11 that I play.

    please advise.

See the changelog of 387.92. Under W10 Open Issues, AW Maxwell aren't supported in this driver release.
From nvidia driver changelog: [Notebook][GM204]: Alienware laptops with GM204 GPUs are not included in this driver release. Support for these products will be added in the next driver.[200333878]
Looks like nvidia really looks at NBR threads.

Yes there is. Its super quick and made by scarface and Harkaz which includes a software coded by Harkaz to remove superseded WinSxS assemblies just like Win 10. https://uploadfiles.io/t3eur

If you run into any issues feel free to PM me and I will notify scarface about it. I'd suggest you to try it a VM and then copy or burn it to a flash drive after VM works fine for you.

Next time if you take less than 15 minutes to install Macrium Reflect you can create an OS disk image and if you do not like how things turn out it only takes about 10 or 15 minutes to make it like it never happened. Every time I do not because I am being lazy or rushing too much I end up wishing I had. It can save you dozens of hours of work making a crappy new Windoze OS X installation tolerable.

The new Macrium Reflect 7 is able to do a restoration in literally 60 seconds (on SSDs that is)

Check this, the virus will soon reach our homes:

Yes, it is called Windows 7 SP1 with Simplex Update Pack and Windows Update Service permanently disabled. Best OS in the history of computers, and from the looks of things also the last respectable contribution from the Redmond Mafia. Everything they have done since then has been half-assed gimmick crapware.
