Really? [IMG] You think it's a 1-2 step that you complete in a couple of minutes? It takes at least 2 hours of careful selection of the options/removal/integration and recompiling...

    Make your own ISO please:

Windows and Office ISO Download Tool
    MSMG ToolKit v7.1

Instructions on the correct order on how to do this:

    1) Load the source then choose your edition (Home or Pro) as the work done is made as per the edition of the ISO loaded currently
    2) Integrate the features that you want such as the Windows 7 Calculator and DirectX 9.0
    3) Integrate the latest windows update(s)
    4) Remove Default Metro Apps > Select Option 1 to remove 3rd Party App Links
    5) Remove all metro apps except Store and Xbox
    6) Remove OS components like Connect App, Maps, Telemetry, Skype > then Advanced Windows Components like... Windows Defender, Edge, IE, Home Group, etc.
    7) Run the MSMG Toolkit Cleanup Command
    8) Apply the changes
    9) Load the source again (same edition you loaded in step 1)
    10) Integrate the .NET Framework 3.5 Component
    11) Apply the changes again
    12) Then start again at step 1, and perform the same integration / removal actions you did for the edition you selected first, so if you loaded Windows 10 Pro first, now select Windows 10 Home and repeat the steps again
    13) Create the ISO

Don't ask me for any support on how to do this further than the instructions I provided as I am by no means an expert in using this tool. For more help, visit the original thread on MDL Forums: MSMG ToolKit

Note: If you remove the Xbox app, Game Mode won't function properly.

Installed version 4.0 and Search doesn't work, Phonenix maybe you did something wrong?
Also noticed 3.0 was 6.8 GB or something, 4.0 is 6.2 GB... Removed too much?

What do you mean search doesn't work? Remember we removed Cortana, I use Everything, it's a much faster search app that finds results instantly without even neededing Windows Indexing

Download the portable version, extract it somewhere safe on your desktop, then drag the search icon to your taskbar for easy access

but by the way, I just tried using the Windows search and it works even without Cortana being there

Aha I thought you just removed Cortana but somehow retained the search function. Isn't that actually possible? I know Cortana is "Search", but it should be possible to disable Cortana for good and keep the built in search which is far more convenient than Everything. I cannot search Control Panel items with Everything as fast as the Windows Search.

Good job on the ISO for sure man but this breaks an essential part of the whole OS. You literally stripped down the search function, calling it bloatware.

Ah that works fine. I was referring to Search from the Task Bar when you Press WIN and type something. That doesnt work. Am I the only guy using search like this or do you guys really go into Explorer, select search field and type... :)

I use Classic Shell (Windows 7 Start Menu) so that works as well

Download it and import my XML Settings once you try to click on your start menu for the first time, I placed the ClassicShell Folder in D:\Software\

so that's where the Windows 7 Start Menu image is, otherwise you need to browse to it yourself if you placed it somewhere else

PS: If you have the standard Windows 10 Start Menu, then that search is directly linked to Cortana which you DON'T WANt

Keeping Cortana won't send Microsoft any data as long as you keep it disabled/not use it AND disable all those ****ty Telemetry stuff in the background so I see no point removing it. Why not just use Windows 7 if you gonna make 10 look like 7. And speaking of services, are you sure you removed everything that sends Microsoft data? There are many services and Telemetry component is not the only one I think...

I appreciate your effort though, can you also tell me if the errors in Windows Event Log is caused by your modifications to the OS or standard Windows bug which occur on the standard installation also?

Hey, thanks for the answers and help :) I'm not here to find any errors of yours I'm just asking questions. Don't get me wrong....

no problem, the registry errors occur even on a standard OS, if you Google those Event IDs you will see 100s of people with that error. Heck, that's how I found the solution and posted it, I'm no genius by any means. As for Cortana, no enthusiast likes here, not that I know of at least.

This Bloatware Free OS is as is with the features removed mentioned. If one wants to modify certain things or keep certain things, then I've posted the instructions on how to create your own clean ISO yourself. Otherwise, just use the standard Windows 10.

This is how my OS looks like, yes I want Windows 10 for its modern hardware support but I want the old school look:

Exactly, why disable all this stuff in Windows 10, when Windows 7/8.1 would be exactly the same without all this effort? :)

    Send MS a message, don't use Windows 10 - don't install Windows 10 - don't even "think" about Windows 10.

Focus on Windows 7/8.1 until 2023, then if MS has woken up and removed Telemetry and all the other mind-numbingly stupid other crap from Windows 10, re-open the case for upgrading to Windows 10.

Between now and 2023, become proficient at Linux

Thanks to @Phoenix for all of his hard work trying to help people stuck with a Windows 10 license survive the ordeal :hi:

If only Spotify didnt stop the their Linux development... :( But I agree, could just as well use Windows 8... I really hate Cortana myself, as much as I hate Siri on my phone. But I really cannot use W10 without built in Search. I'm actually a little fan of the Metro apps as I'm using W10 on my HTPC - looking fine on the big screen but then again I want total control and install just the stuff I use.

I think I need to make my own ISO :)

As supplement to this thread, I recommend you guys check out this page: https://fdossena.com/?p=w10debotnet/index_1703.frag

This guy strips down after installation but there are some more points worth to check out. As for Cortana it's being disabled and blocked in firewall which will retain the W10 search. I plan to do this.

@Mr.Koala: Sounds promising, I have tried Remix OS earlier for Android purposes but it failed on many apps. I wont make the switch just for Spotify, but if other stuff (including games) works fine without performance issues I'm tempted to install Elementary OS as I think it looks really beautiful.

Do you run many apps with Anbox? Do majority of the apps work fine? Let me know :)

Spotify on Linux isn't dead, it's just never been officially supported, much like most of Linux development:

    https://www.spotify.com/us/download/linux/

    Spotify for Linux
"Here you can find a build of Spotify for Linux. We are running this ourselves and we will try to make sure it keeps pace with its Mac and Windows siblings. However, this version is unsupported. You can tell us what you think and ask other users for help at The Spotify Community.

Spotify for Linux is released as a Debian package. Our aim is that it should work with the latest Long Term Support release of Ubuntu, but we will try to make it work for other releases of Ubuntu and Debian as well."

This is something I REALLY like, just hit the key and start typing. Don't need indexing tho, usually not in a hurry. ;)
As I still don't use the start menu regularly, I still don't care about its layout, no matter if it's stock W7, 8 or 10.

Only other States Government can STOP M$ Morons and U.S Government in implementing more ****y!!! See Chinese OS version and what the European Commission has said. Watch my words bruh. Small people like you and me can't do much!!!! We can only try as good we can to try Tweaking the OS from being only a Spy Box and advertising Channel. Because this is what the new Cartoon Box Os has become. And we haven't yet seen what will hit us in the head!!

You are missing the point my friend.

Whether not running Windows 10 forces Microsoft to change Windows 10 or not isn't the point, so please stop harping on that.

If something is bad, bad for you and bad for others, then don't become a part of it by doing it yourself. It's that simple.

You aren't being forced against your will to run Windows 10, it's your choice, and your choice alone.

There isn't any law that forces you to run Windows 10, if you really don't approve of what MS has done, then take the few steps to migrate to Windows 7 / 8.1 and take the action to not run Windows 10.

Once you make that choice to run Windows 10, you are an active part of the problem, you are supporting Microsoft and their actions with Windows 10. You are voting for Windows 10 to continue as it is currently built.

Whether you go through the actions to neuter Windows 10 atrocities or not, Microsoft now has your approval to keep Windows 10 as is.

Every day you run Windows 10 is another day you are helping Microsoft continue the atrocities against humanity that Windows 10 brings.

Stop actively helping Microsoft sell Windows 10, whether it makes Microsoft change Windows 10 or not, it's the right thing to do for you, and for everyone else suffering with Windows 10 and it's fallout.

I think you would function just fine on Windows 8.1 or even Windows 7 - perhaps a little less performance, but I doubt you would notice it in day to day operation.

Mr. Fox seemed to get it running ok, with even better performance in some benchmarks.

    It's worth a try :)

Was that targeted at Vasudev, or everyone in general? I don't have a fingerprint reader so I assumed it'd be safe to ditch the biometrics. (I shudder at the thought of MS having access to my prints anyways :D)

The *if* is only the determiner for moving to Windows 10, not that it's going to happen, ever.

Don't get stuck on that, you keep going back to that and the futility of changing Microsoft's ways by not using Windows 10, such confabulations can lead to extreme confusion :)

Whether MS ever comes to their senses and stops their idiocy is irrelevant, that's their problem, not mine - or your's.

If all these contortions to live with Windows 10 aren't proof enough, remember that Windows 10 is taking time away from what you bought the computer for in the first place, work, games, and enjoyment of life.

Can all of you say that constantly wasting your time doing all this crap to make Windows 10 livable is making life enjoyable?    o_O
Geez, what a waste of life Windows 10 is... and it's just going to continue to get worse and worse...

You've been saying that for months now, and it's not happening.

Windows 7 and 8.1 aren't going to get any attention from MS, thank goodness, as Microsoft doesn't want to give any mind share over to Windows 7 / 8.1.

It's bad for Microsoft already, what with the almost complete stoppage of Windows 10 marketshare growth. Windows 10 growth is creeping along at a snail's pace.

Any mention from Microsoft of Windows 7 / 8.1 ends up growing Windows 7 / 8.1 marketshare, so MS will leave them alone.

The mouse doesn't win in a cat-and-mouse game. Its success is merely surviving for now. So get a plan B for things that truly matter in your workflow while you have the time. But that doesn't mean you can't continue to use Win 10 while it's still acceptable for you. The choice is not completely binary.

BTW guys, now when I remove the 3D Paint, it also gets rid of the right click context menu so no need for the extra reg file tweak to get rid of that.

What's wrong with keeping 3d Paint? I thought it was the first upgrade ever for MS Paint, a good thing, no?

All Store apps can be reinstalled from the store if one needs them. I remove all the store apps personally

secondly, in MSMG Toolkit, there is an option to remove all apps except store and Xbox in one shot, if I don't do that , then I would have to manually remove each app then go back to the removal sub menu then do the same for the next app, that takes a lot of time, then imagine doing this for both editions (Home and Pro) it would take me 2 extra hours to do this job.

That's too bad that MS bundles everything under the Store now, makes it tough to recommend MS software, especially if you want Windows junk free, you have to throw the Store out and everything that comes with it.

Uploading the ISO as we speak then submitting it to MajorGeeks since sharing the ISO from Google Drive directly is pointless due to the download limits

What exactly was the issue removing Biometrics? @Phoenix

I have been testing Windows without it for some hours now, put password, put pincode, logged on and off and all works fine...

    Let me know :)
