gonna sound crazy but, i assume WMP can be added right back in via features adding removal panel?

Since i have 10 already installed and done via the MCT can i still manually rip out some of this stuff? i removed some apps and used some anti telemetry stuff.

Please do not remove windows defender in next updates!!! its the best free antivirus at the moment, and if u disable it it doesn't work anymore, its unnecesary to delete it, unless it its a perfect build!

And if u dont will to think it, how can i add Windows Defender again? tried to download and install it and it simply doesnt works, it says its already installed ._.

Then don't use my ISO and create your own, the instructions are in the first post of this thread.

Windows Defender is the heaviest Antivirus out there, I'm not gonna argue with you or anyone about that, if you wanna use it, simply, create your own ISO

    Meanwhile, enjoy this:

You may have not noticed it as you hadn't disabled Windows Defender to experience how snappy your machine can be without it.

Heck, for me, a simple thing, I have a software folder which has a lot of portable apps, each folder within that main folder has its own custom icon like for CCleaner, AIDA64, etc. if I have Windows Defender, everytime I open that folder, the icons load in slow motion as if I was running a Pentium II CPU! Disable Windows Defender and even install any other AV and the icons all load instantly! Heck I've even added the entire Software folder I talked about to the exclusions list of Windows Defender.

But at the end of the day, if you are happy with Windows Defender, then by all means use it. This thread is not meant for discussion of Windows Defender whether or not it's light or good, it's for those people like me and Mr. Fox who want nothing to do with Microsoft's Windows Defender. We have enough spying from the OS and I sure as heck don't trust anything from Microsoft to protect my machine.

thanks for your guide @Phoenix now that i don't work at my former company i don't have access to NTLite anymore, and this method is quite nice, only noticed that my toolkit is crashing when using the german .iso, after i should re-load the modified image, no problem tho when you do everything at once.

This is my first post ever on this forum, and I want to say thank you Phoenix for your work! I already downloaded it and installed this bloatware free version of windows, which I am particularly enjoying. I just have two questions: Under some settings, such as Update and Security, there is a red message saying that some settings are hidden or managed by your organization. I would like to know if that is normal, or if I did something wrong somewhere. And also, I just ran the cmd tool sfc /scannow, and it said that it found some corruptions but it was unable to fix them. Is this also normal? Or what could be the best way to fix it.
    Thanks for the help.

About the windows update, probably because update to drivers was disabled and / or maybe because the option to allow your PC to act as a Windows update server and send previously downloaded updates to others is disabled

about the sfc errors, that's normal since many components have been removed completely so it is unable to repair/restore them

don't dig for problems, if you are not facing any issues, then just enjoy [IMG]

yes, from Group Policy Editor provided you have the Pro Edition installed.

It's under Administrative Templates > Windows Update > Do not include drivers with Windows Updates

although I would never wanna allow drivers form Windows updates, get them from the manufacturer of your PC if you want your PC to operate normally. This feature has been disabled for a good reason. Heck, I don't think disabling it even works properly since Microsoft tries its best to install drivers whether you like it or not unless you ensure you have the latest drivers, then Windows Updates won't be able to offer any driver updates

Alright, thank you Pheonix! I guess I'll just leave it alone then. I just have one more question, will I still get the future windows updates (cumulative updates - KBXXXXXXXX) and security patches, etc? I just hope I don't have to reinstall everything again for that. Cheers!

Yes, Yoo can. But you should rather use Windows Update MiniTool instead. Better have the fully controll by yourself. As well yoo can download standalone patches here

ive previously been using that "Windows 10 Hide Drivers & Updates Tool" from Microsoft, which also gets the job done. however, ull actually have to start downloading/installing an unwanted update before you can hide it via that tool. now i dont have to do that anymore but hide it right away! yehaw

:)i will! Again this little shake down of win 10 makes me so happy, I do not like my habits being uploaded to MS.... I did have one issue when installing to my Asus motherboard desktop, when I booted from the thumbdrive, it took 3 times before it clicked into installing, it just showed the black screen... not sure what that was about but after it installed and looks good to me, got my drivers back on from asus and all works as best or better now. :D I used the same thumbdrive for all 3 of my lappys, no hang ups and no issues.

I am still using that tool to hide drivers and updates and never had to actually start downloading an update before I hide it. I keep all my connections as metered connections and every now and then open the tool, hide the updates I don't like and then set the connection as non metered and download what I want and then set it s metered again.

Long and grueling process but it is a necessity.

And yes @Phoenix , it works for drivers as well. Tried it many times and worked every single time.

This build is amazing, I love it.

Now I just have to get my sh** together and format all of my current machines.

.. Just so many things to re-tweak again!

Also, @Phoenix is there any specific additional tweaks you would recommend doing to this build once installed?

How long before an update reinstalls all the crap?

EDIT: i just DLed the iso from OPs link and burned and installed. I assume the tools mentioned are for striping down an ISO one's self.

EDIT: seems to lock up on boot after the initial install from dvd. on my H61 system.

So I am thinking of installing this W10 edition on my 120GB Samsung 850 EVO, which is significantly faster than my Crucial M4 256GB, which I will then use as my second drive, and a third drive, a 500GB WD as my backup of the two.

Going to keep you guys posted on how it works out.

Most likely going to make a RAM cache on both SSD drives too.

I am not allowed to answer that question.

On topic, I dropped my 500GB which was a backup of my 320GB which somewhat failed.

Now it makes a ticking noise, I, however, cannot figure out if it because of the Creators Update or not, gotta check it elsewhere.

I am running out of harddrives here. Also I am confused just how much "not important" work I lost, FML :D

If its a clicking sound, then the hdd is likely having some issues. As for disk spinning all the time after creators? Yes there are high disk usage especially if you're using a HDD. Give it 5-10 mins for the OS to settle down and all will be good.

Hoping to be getting my new laptop soonish...(HID said they had a bad batch of CPUs and were not happy with how my laptop was running or performing and that's what my delay has been...?), just want to confirm that by using this version it will remove all of the general BS I do not want on my machine. Are there additional features or things that can/should potentially be removed or did you really get rid of everything that matters? I know people have reported that when trying to disable some of the telemetry and cortana things via group policy or registry etc that they get re-enabled and turned back on during windows updates. Is that something that needs to be worried about or have any concern about with this version or is everything permanently removed and will not come back or get added or turned on that I do not want? I'd prefer to have the newer "Features" of Win10 such as DX12 and support for newer games that may not support older OS's but I hate what Microsoft is doing and wanted to just stick with 7 but this seems like a viable version of 10 to use @Phoenix

to summarize, this is the best edition of Windows 10 you can get. After that, just tag me and I will do my final touches for you since you're an HIDevolution Gaming Team Member and don't worry about the delay, had it been another company they would just ship your machine and not care about how well or not the CPU performance! :)

I do appreciate the fact they are testing it and holding it back if there's issues as I know almost anyone else would just ship it out and hope the person didn't notice that something may be wrong or it wasn't running properly, but I do need a laptop and I am getting anxious waiting all this time without one! I thought I saw a post by you somewhere about the finishing touches you do or have done for people, is that somewhere in this thread or what? Just curious what else there may be to do to it (not that I don't want your help if you are offering it!). I just wasn't sure if there was anything else to/that could be removed or changed with it.

A lot of the tweaks would not need to be done since they are already not there in the ISO, but here is a basic rundown of what I do usually:

1- Uninstallation of all the Windows Store Garbage Apps
2- Removing all Windows 10 Privacy Invasion stuff like Telemetry, sending your keystrokes to Microsoft, automatically installing suggested apps in the background, allowing Microsoft to conduct experiments on your laptop, disabling automatic driver updates through Windows updates, disabling Windows 10 ads, disabling cortana, etc.
3- Removal of nVIDIA and Intel Telemetry
4- Adjusting a lot of options in PC Settings like disabling Windows Tablet Mode (you have a laptop not a tablet), disabling suggestions appearing in the start menu, disabling automatically connecting to Paid WiFi Hotspots, disabling Game DVR which reduced performance in games, and a lot more.
5- Replacing Cortana with a much better search tool that finds results instantly
6- Restoring the classic Windows 7 Calculator and Windows Photo Viewer
7- Restoring the Classic Windows 7 Start Menu

"Windows 10 Creators Update Bloatware Free Edition" v5.3 created in MSMG Toolkit or NTLite?
Win10_1703.iso included files NTLite.log and Auto-saved session from NTLite.
First post: "So I used the MSMG Toolkit"
majorgeeks.com link: "It was created using the MSMG Toolkit which allows you to create your bloat-free version of Windows if you like."
    Why is not it fixed?
Or are the three files of ntlite just a bonus?
    MSMG does not listen :

MSMG deleted ImportDefaultAppAssociations (no useless) after removal apps movies, music, photos.
fix you associations, copy edited OEMDefaultAssociations.xml with ImportDefaultAppAssociations or manualy to c:\Windows\System32\

Are you asking if NTLite was used rather than MSMG?

I cannot tell you why (if) there is a leftover NTLite.log file in the image, but if it is a concern to you, the OP explains how to go about creating the bloat free image yourself.

If there is a bigger concern here that I am not understanding, then please explain/elaborate.

Oh, and welcome to NBR ;)

So I installed this and most of what is described seems to be in place but I did notice Cortana was not removed or at least the Cortana box. I was able to remove it manually and change to search icon though.

Another issue I noticed. If you add your account as local, there is no Family option to add more accounts. However, I was able to add additional users via the netplwiz command.
