It would be nice if Microsoft could add cpu temp to task manager, maybe even add a high temp alarm, It would save me using third-party apps.

Firefox and early builds of Chrome v50 (and older) did disable CFG even in EMET and WD. Usually its applied to JRE,MS office,Adobe reader etc... I don't think Cinebench,3dmark,Geekbench,Unigine etc... are affected. Its usually tracebacks or debugging that takes longer than usual, almost same as Google's/Vivaldi's findings.

So it already does check the temp, then adding the function to task manger so you can see a graph, it already does it for cpu, disk, mem, network, gpu adding cpu temp is only logical. -
As papusan said, it will take up additional cpu cycles in querying info. If you check MSFT docs, hardware sensor is expensive task and polling is restricted to every second or minute to avoid CPU hogs. You'll see temperature warning in event log.6.|THE|1|BOSS|.9 and Papusan like this.

Updated to the same update. Let's see how it goes it. Once 1903 is ready for public release I'll clean install Windows 10 again because some insider update mechanism isn't working fine.
In the mean time I'll see if it can be integrated into offline image. I usually failed at injecting it to Boot.wim /index=*

I never tried MCT ever. I was really afraid it will break my PCs during upgrade. Abbodi's script uses Aria2 and downloads just like IDM. With IDM you can download the direct hotlink just under 30 mins. The script integrates updates with build 116 on install.wim and boot.wim along with removal of WinSxS garbage and does other stuffs too. One thing I recommend you don't choose the option to integrate netfx3.5 which will cause issues because ResetBase won't work when there's pending actions.

If anyone did an upgrade then you wanna clean out the old Windows.old folder, don't delete it manually, but run the Storage Sense Tool under Settings > System > Storage > Configure Storage Sense or run it now:
-
however, using the 1903 media creation tool downloads & creates 1903 ISOs that are build 18362.30 ( not the newest build for 1903)
I'd rather do what Vasudev is doing and using UUP dump downloader & converter to download & create an "updated" 1903 ISO which includes the KB4505057 update for 1903 (build 18362.116).
also, when updating to 1903 thru either automatic update or windows update, users will be getting the newest 1903 build + latest CU for 1903
well I have, done Win10 upgrades occasionally with MCT and it works on some of my PCsPapusan likes this. -

To each their own, but if I had a choice, I'd pick the official tool to download Windows 10 any day over someone's downloader tool.
I did use that tool before but only when this build was leaked and we had no official channel to get it. -
Why would you upgrade?
Or was it meant as a Joke?
This is more as a bad advice.

I tried it and it NO longer works. It looks like MS plugged that hole. Hopefully someone will find another way.
-
I had read awhile ago that MS plans to use "Storage Sense" as a means to clean up the hard drive possibly replacing the Disk Cleanup Tool feature found in Windows Explorer.
-
It left some traces for me. I am using Cleanmgr+ and your disk cleanup shortcut with sageset and sagerun. Open up Cleanmgr+ and run Disk Cleanup shortcut, otherwise you might see a message saying "Disk Cleanup is going away in newer release, use Storage Sense instead."
-
This worked to upgrade the 1903 Insider Preview to the current release for me. The multi-edition ISO does not seem to include LTSC. It included Enterprise and Enterprise N, but no LTSC. Do you know if they changed something to where simply entering the LTSC product key changes Enterprise to Enterprise LTSC?Vasudev likes this.
-
All editions are same. Because of deduplication scheme used by Enterprise OS to decrease file sizes by several folds.
Have you tried running Activation troubleshooter from settings app? I install Home or Pro (My genuine setup is Home SL edition) depending on how lazy I am. Then I run activation troubleshooter which Upgrades my Home/Pro installation to Home SL w/o reinstall and it also keep gpedit.msc intact. Clever trick right? Free way to enable gpedit.msc permanently. I do run gpedit-enabler.cmd so that things gets updated to reflect my Home edition.
Another thing to note, the cab files already contain Not_supported_on LTSC packs which gets rid off UWp apps.
So if activation troubleshooter works correctly, You should have W7,W10 Enterprise LTSC 2019 SA Targeted release aka 1903 and v1809 EnterpriseMr. Fox likes this. -
Installed Windows 10 Version 1903 ( OS Build 18362.116) last night on 3 laptops, removed old windows versions with disk clean up- clean up system files-looking it over- there still is lots of Windows 10 drivers dating back to 2006, had to go into USB settings as this version automatically- clicks the tab to power down usb ports,, still looking thru it. I used Windows Media Creation Tool, the upgrade was easy. Windows 10 Back up and Restore( from Windows 7) got a silent fix in it( last version and carried thru), Back and Restore now works with 32 bit Ose's, early versions did not work.
Last edited: May 22, 2019 -
Yeah, that's a cool way to get gpedit for Home.
So, what you're saying is if I use one of my LTSC product keys it will automatically delete the already installed UWP filth and change the installation from Enterprise to Enterprise LTSC? Is that correct?
The ISO I used for LTSC 1809 installation is an LTSC ISO, not an AIO. It shows the EULA for volume licensing during installation. Enterprise is activated by digital license, but I have to use phone activation for LTSC. It is not tied to my desktop by digital license and doesn't show up in my list of devices.
I have not identified anything particularly good or special about 1903 yet. I do think the "Your Phone" app is useful. It kind of sucks that I won't be able to use AeroGlass until Big Muscle releases an update for 1903. I really don't care for the blur on the log-in screen. Need to see if there is a way to turn that off. I also don't like the Windows 10 flavor of transparency. Acrylic isn't that nice IMHO. Kind of a lame excuse for transparency. AeroGlass is far superior.
Edit: Found it! https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials...lic-blur-effect-sign-screen-windows-10-a.html
Since Windows 8.X was released, Micro$lop has shown an ongoing lack of understanding of what is aesthetically pleasing for the UI. The blurred logon screen background is just the latest example of their knack for producing tacky-looking crap.

Then you can use KMS Activator and type your original product key and use Phone/EZ activator etc... OR even put LTSC mode in 270 days trial mode.
I didn't like Aero Glass at all on W7 pre-Sp1 but I really like Adwaitha Dark theme on Linux. Its very soothing to the eyes and applies system wide w/o any fuss. You can tweak the transparency in Windows manager tweaks to be completely transparent like a clear glass. GNOME,KDE,ClearLooks,Cinnamon etc look wonderful on a dark theme.
Your phone is good but I ain't buying their scheme and I'm happy with using SyncDroid to keep Android backups and restore and even gets rid off bloatwares. Kill Two birds with one stone. -
Windows 10 May 2019 Update 1903 Gaming Performance Tested in 21 Titles, with RTX 2080 Ti and Radeon VII Techpowerup.com | May 22, 2019
Microsoft earlier today released to market its latest version of Windows 10, the May 2019 Update (version 1903). There was quite some talk about Microsoft tweaking the kernel to improve CPU performance. Other gamer-relevant changes include updates to WDDM (display driver model), and an updated DirectX 12, which now supports variable-rate shading.
The GeForce RTX 2080 Ti remains largely flat with its performance gains and losses averaged across all games. "Assassins Creed: Odyssey" shows a 2% performance gain in 1080p, and a roughly 2% loss at 4K. The reverse of this phenomenon is noticed with "Far Cry 5," in which 1080p performance is down 2%, and 4K performance up by that much. These look like random variations between test runs. "Battlefield V" gains 1% in all three resolutions. "Darksiders 3" gains 1% at 1440p. F1 2018 loses 1-2% in all three resolutions. Most other games, including "Strange Brigade," remain largely flat. Averaged across all games and resolutions, the net gain for RTX 2080 Ti with the move to Windows 1903 is +0.05 percent, so almost exactly "no change". -

Security Baseline (Final) for Windows 10 1903 and Server 1903 - Overview of New Group Policy
good Morning May 23, 2019 16:28 1 comment
[Update 23.05.] Microsoft has now released the final version of the Security Baseline for Windows 10 1903 and Server 2019 for download. The download is offered under Microsoft Security Compliance Toolkit 1.0. There you have the selection of the individual files....
The changes themselves are limited compared to the Windows 10 1809. Interesting but already known is the change that you can clearly display the login screen again. See also in the wiki . Furthermore, new Group Policy for App Privacy, Storage Sense and Login Options have been added.

fyi, Vasudev, support for v1607 Enterprise & Education ended on April 9, 2019.
however LTSB 2016 (v1607) which I still use on older machines that can't run LTSC 2019 (v1809) or higher get support until Oct. 2026.
@Papusan: the newly released KB4497935 update includes this imporant fix:
why Microsoft did not fix this problem before publicly releasing 1903 on May 21 is puzzling to me and now they fix it? they should have created newer 1903 ESDs/ISOs containing this important fix but did not -
I have... and there is no difference whatsoever. 1903 is just as horrible as 1809.
What in the world would we do without the Microsoft Monkeys " empowering every person and organization on the planet to achieve more?"
Achieve more what? Something that doesn't involve computers? So this is how they define progress?

When I was installing 1903 it failed twice with the same error. My XBOX One wireless controller being plugged in was causing this, LOL. I unplugged it from the USB port and then it installed without error. And now, from a cold boot, it never recognizes the controller's wireless adapter unless I unplug it, wait a few seconds, then plug it back in again. Just the latest iteration of rubbish from a rubbish company.

The best tweaking tip is to replace it with Windows 7. Or, at least make it dual boot so you can have one OS that actually performs well and the other OS to use the AWCC UWP piece of crap app to tweak the fan profiles that are not available in the BIOS. You'd probably beat everyone else in the world's benchmarks that owns the Area 51m since your CPU would be only one that is not castrated so badly by the OS.

I've actually been wondering if the drivers are supported on Windows 7. Might give it a dual boot try once.
When I was running Windows 7 on my M17xR3, it was working flawlessly. I had denied all updated related to Windows 10 until the very end. One morning I woke up, moved my mouse to wake up my laptop (I never turn my systems off) and was greeted with black screen. Tired restarting the laptop and saw the loading screen of Windows 10 and couldn't believe my eyes. I was forced to update to this crap! Back then, if you remember, AW was having this black screen plague after to Windows 10, I have never been so angry in my life after that day.
