How is this version compared to 1809? I know 1903 was a big mess but have they fixed their **** for the so called "November update" ?

How do you think this one will be better than previous mess? It's in short exactly same version but with minor changes.

A very good start with the new and shiny OS version. As expected. And nothing will change.

Now you see why I switched to Mac? I am done with these jokes. Microsoft can't get the most basic things of an OS to work right like Search or Start Menu! You know, because it's rocket science!

No in Hell I will swap to Apple. What is a working OS worth if the hardware is crippled? And there is no need jump on new and shiny. I mean jump on Redmond Retards latest stunt.

Was about to ask you Spartan to why not get a LTSC when you can easily afford it and it is the best as of the moment that I know of instead of going to MAC where hardware is not the best of best.

Did not update to 1909 yet and haven't integrated the update to my custom ISO.

But you can use 1809 for next 5-6 yrs w/o any worries. How the MBP 16" holding up? Are thermals good or bad?

So I upgraded 1703 on my desktop BGA killer system to 1909 without incident.

But I was smart and uninstalled all Soundblaster X-fi and Realtek drivers and deleted the device driver software before upgrading, then I installed the 1903 compatible ones. No problems except the good old "Cannot connect to RPC service" bug with the RT Audio Control Panel from the MS Store. Seems like the only way to fix that is to reinstall the driver on top of itself twice. (Probably how I fixed this with the older Gigabyte release version of the drivers).

Haven't seen anything (yet) that would make me want to revert back. But I don't think my MSI BGAbook will do as good as my desktop did, so idk about that right now. Predicting some problems considering how old MSI's drivers for the GT73VR are.

Bugs continue to haunt Win10 version 1909
Billed as the kinder, gentler update to Windows, the latest version 1909 is still plagued by persistent wake-up and botched search.

1909 has been stable for me. The inability to load Device Manager from the menu has been present since at least 1903 - not a very big deal, since I can load it by running devmgmt.msc.

Are you talking about "you don't have permission to do this" error when you try to load it from the search bar?
I had that happen (even control panel wasnt opening) but it stopped after I rebooted. I think it originally happened after i restarted the explorer process.

Ummm... oh, heck no. You're not going to "try" anything on my PC, Micro$haft. Maybe after hell freezes over. I just got rid of their DCH cancer audio drivers and chintzy UWP control panel feces on purpose, and now they're trying to "help me" put that broken crap back... even though I didn't ask for "help" with that? They can kiss my bobo.

Edit: And, this nonsense is with Enterprise 1909 installed on the TongFang turdbook. Windows Update driver installation is disabled. Or, so I thought.

You'd think LTSC would be safe, and even safer with O&O10Shutup. But it still manages to download drivers, even if you manually turned that off. Found out that you need to pair it up with WUP to disable all of the update services for the nonsense to finally stop.

Crazy, isn't it? Probably some kind of weird glitch, which Windows 10 is famous for.

I am dealing with some Windows weirdness on the Tongfang turdbook that I have yet to figure out. The system tray power icon keeps disappearing and the common fixes for it don't fix it. Restarting explorer brings it back, but is it gone again after a reboot. Tried all of the registry tweaks on the web... nada.

And, yesterday about a half dozen desktop shortcuts to programs I use every day suddenly were broken on my desktop PC. The programs were fine and I made new shortcuts. But, makes no sense that they were messed up. Don't know how/why.

Logging into Windows with the built-in Administrator account the problem is not present, my profile for work it is not present and a new user it is not prsent. So, I am going to restore my Macrium Reflect image from 12 days ago and be done with it. I'll have to double-check that everything is locked down so no digital cancer can interfere a second time.

I am so glad that I made a new image after converting my drives back to MBR from GPT. Otherwise, I'd be having to redo that crap. My older images are all UEFI/GPT and it would suck having to go back to that garbage.

Ever since this Windows 10 mess came out until now all we've been dealing with is weird unsolvable problems, constant need of finding tweaks to battle Micro$h4ft, driver incompatibilities, you name it! I have given up gaming on a PC just to not touch something called Windows ever again. Heck if you're comfortable with Linux now, I wouldn't even burn any more calories on Windows

If Linux could do everything I want to do, I would do that in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, it cannot and it probably never will. Windows 10 is a piece of garbage and Linux is awesome. But, there's no joy in using an OS that limits what I can do so severely. It's actually not the OS, technically. But, the lack of availability of the software I want to run... 80% or more only runs on Windows. Therein lies the problem. And, if I can't do what I want to do, there is really no point in even owning a computer.

If I wanted someone else to control everything I do, I'd just use a cheap tablet, Chromebook or smartphone for internet and email and totally forget about everything else.

MS should scrap the whole Windows 10 project, and start from scratch. To take something great (7) and transform it into such a pile of steaming crap, shows what a complete waste they have become.

I don’t see any acknowledgment of — much less a solution to — the longstanding File Explorer search bug in Win10 1909.
January 2020 Patch Tuesday running commentary, from the skeptic’s corner Askwoody.com| Today
Be sure you can rollback or wait for the guinea pig.

Windows 10 is 'better than ever' says Microsoft, as it issues a patch to fix a major vulnerability betanews.com Jan 14, 2019

Today, as you’ll know, marks the end of support for Windows 7, and Microsoft is -- predictably -- keen to get as many people as possible to switch to its new operating system.

However, on a day when the software giant has had to issue a fix for a flaw in Windows 10 that the NSA says threatens the foundations on which the Internet operates, there’s something more than a little embarrassing about Microsoft boasting how its new OS "makes you and your organization more productive and secure than ever".

But today’s events have somewhat undermined Microsoft’s boast about the security and safety of Windows 10 given that the flaw identified by the NSA -- which it describes as posing "a significant risk for enterprises and systems" -- doesn’t actually affect Windows 7.

Earlier today we wrote about a major vulnerability affecting Windows 10 and Server 2016 which was uncovered by the NSA who duly reported it to Microsoft.

At the time details on the vulnerability were scarce, but now that Microsoft has issued a fix for it as part of its Patch Tuesday updates, the NSA has revealed its worrying findings.

They don't give a rat's butt about anything other than getting Windows 7 hold-outs to drink the wee-wee tainted Windoze OS X Kool-Aid. Security, my hind leg. I might have been born at night, but it wasn't last night. As long as their goal is to provide Windows as a Service it will never be secure. It will continue to be a constantly evolving and insecure bug magnet.
The only meaningful thing I can say in response to this fabrication is, "Liar, liar, pants on fire."

Trying on the part of the end user is not required. Windows 10, like its maker, will continue to try and fail, repeatedly, and without any user action or intervention. Their persistence and perseverance in the pursuit of rubbish is admirable. Just think how nice it would be if they knew what they were doing and had high standards.

Windows 10 is such a joke. I've had it for over a year, stable, no crap running around (had to disable most bloatware as usual) but 2 or 3 days ago I've had some crashes on drivers (which never happened for 8 months). Wish they would actually test stuff out before releasing to general public but I guess that's me dreaming.. You don't have to be touching the computer for it to crash or do something you didn't intend to..
I feel ya brothers @Mr Fox and @Papusan. I will have to change to LTSC this upcoming weekend. Got tired of all the ******** going on, on background with the bloatware.

And today I turned my machine to learn that I have candy crush installed by default (never noticed it). Wtf.

Is there even a point in updating to v1909? If they're going to keep breaking things with every update then I rather stay with v1703 unless there is a more stable one.

Since you do not need RTX GPU support there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to move from 1703 up to anything after 1703. Doing so it totally pointless. Just stay parked there and enjoy having a system that isn't screwed up.

On 1909 as well in my GS75. Removed as much bloat as I could.

Had to roll back to 1903 on my father's zephyrus G though as 1909 just completely broke nvidia optimus.

Blocked it since ages. Still on 1809 until EOL. I see no point in upgrading.

More mess from Redmond HQ. Want the last Microcode without this coming stinking Voltage cap Mess but with fixes for all the other Intel flaws, then download the last patch and save it. You can install it as standalone with the doors closed.

The Microcode doesn't say anything about Coffee Lake so I guess I don't need to install it right?
