Just regular for now until we get MSMG Toolkit v8.3

I selected English-US in the MCT so don't worry about the China name in it, this is as official as it can get. -
I downloaded the ISO, but I won't even think about testing it until I can butcher it to shreds with MSMG Toolkit. I'll just save the ISO until I can remove all of the worthless UWP crApp filth for testing. There is not one single Windows 10 App I can think of that I place even a smidgen of value on... 100% pure, worthlessly adulterated garbage. If Windows 10 Apps were a tangible product, I would use them as toilet paper replacement.
-
Keep music, camera, photos, calculator. We don't know if there are any dependencies like codecs support etc. because Windows explorer is a UWP app.
-

Here's Enthousiast's reply regarding your question about what's up with the CHINA in the file name.......
So what he means is that the products.xml lists all the ESD files for all the languages but the ISO is indeed the one I selected which is EN-US. My mistake was I copied the first line I saw with the 17133.1.180323-1312.rs4_release in it -
As a matter of principle, I'd like to ditch 100% of this butt-crust trash. So, I will kill it all first and see what happens. I don't use those apps, and allowing any trace of their worthless UWP filth to be resident on my systems is a sign of weakness and defeat on my part, LOL. If it messes something else up, like codecs, I can reinstall it with a little bit of the trash added back in like those you mentioned.
Cool, thank you for that clarity. Makes sense now.Papusan, Spartan@HIDevolution and Vasudev like this. -
Soon we'll get S mode.
-
I feel bad for those that have to put up with that. But, I find it shocking and disappointing that some are embracing such filth.
If you put dog feces in a batch of brownies and the quantity is very small to start with, you can gradually increase the volume of feces over time until the entire batch is made of poop and the people chowing down on it are none the wiser. If you do it all at once, they'll catch on immediately because it's so nasty and disgusting, and they haven't had time to adjust to the flavor and aroma. Conceptually, and metaphorically, that's exactly what they're doing with Windows 10. -
I do use some UWP apps like I said before since I'm familiar with them on my phone. And it isn't intrusive like PC. They want to make it worse these days. Let's see how W10 RS4 comes out.Mr. Fox likes this.
-
Yeah, I realize that. No worries. For me it is a matter of principle. To accept their filth is sacrilege. I will never gladly accept or forgive them for their unpardonable sins and crimes against the PC Master Race. I don't want to drink their wee-wee Kool-Aid until there's nothing else left to drink and I absolutely have to do so in order to avoid death by dehydration.

Looking forward to this.. Will wait for the bloatware free.. Thanks for the awesome work.

Watchdogs 2 and Doom are not running on RS4. I'm telling you man, each freakin' build is like it's a whole new OS with new drivers needed and app developers must update their stuff to support the new Micro$haft disaster. How I miss the days of Windows 7 when Windows updates were still Windows updates, not changing the entire core of the OS!
Vasudev, hmscott, Papusan and 1 other person like this. -
Yeah, I know. The situation has never been sadder than it is now... truly pathetic. And, that's why I refuse to let Windows 7 go. It's still the best Windows OS. PERIOD. It kicks Windows 10's butt in almost every way imaginable. I think I can count on one hand, with leftover digits, what Windows 10 is better at. And, these imbeciles have had how many years to get their act together now? They are total losers and Windows 10 sucks. I honestly believe they will never again be good at what they do. They lack the skill and mental capacity to be good at it. I guess that is to be expected when they are run by idiots that aspire to be more like Apple.
I know some people have screwed up hardware that cannot use Windows 7 correctly and they are faced with having to use this newer piece of crap OS. I do not care for Watchdogs, but Doom is way too awesome to not be able to play it. That one thing alone is a good enough reason to avoid RS4 until they figure out what the Redmond Nazis screwed up and fix it.

Even something as simple as Torchlight II is running like crap on my machine with RS4. Stutters, mini-freezes. Heck even MS' own crap doesn't perform up to snuff (the so-called Fluent design which doesn't live up to its name. The new window open/close animation stutters so bad I had to turn it off)hmscott and Spartan@HIDevolution like this.

Instead of NSA, the Chinese get to capture your information. Either way, nefarious and supported by the Redmond Mafia. And all this extra service is provided for free. What a deal.

You could try installing Win 10 RS4 SDK.
After in place upgrade, my BGA AW takes 5 mins to boot just like my 5 yr old PC w/ HDD. -
Nah, I think I will just stick with my W7 Ultimate and W10 Enterprise N 2016 LTSB dual boot setup and pass on what they have on offer right now. There is no reason I can identify that warrants the time and effort needed for installing RS4 at this time. Sad, but true... their latest and greatest brings nothing compelling to the table... nothing. It would be an enormous waste of my time.Last edited: Apr 5, 2018

Oh one more thing to note, in RS4, the classic Default programs is completely gone, so good luck setting up your defaults. Example, I installed WinRAR, everytime I run a RAR file or ZIP file for the first time, I have to select WinRAR as the handler then select always open with this program! So damn annoyingPapusan, Vasudev, Mr. Fox and 1 other person like this. -
That sucks. Sounds like everyone just needs to say no to RS4. What a joke. I should probably just delete the ISO that I downloaded and not care about the new MSMG tool. No point in wasting drive space on it. Too bad I wasted internet bandwidth downloading it the other day.Vasudev, Papusan and Spartan@HIDevolution like this.

Maybe Mr. Fox I figured out why you hate UWP apps? Is it because of UI design having Hamburger menu?Mr. Fox likes this. -
Try Dism++ to export current settings from host to Live Image/ Host Image.slimmolG likes this.
-
Well, that is a small part of it. I do hate the hamburger menus, but that is not the primary reason I hate it. I hate UWP apps for many reasons. Aesthetics suck in multiple ways. It makes a PC feel like a smartphone. The whole look and feel of the natural Windows 10 UI/environment sucks. Everything takes up way too much space. Extremely inefficient layout, and it is bleeding over even into web design now. Monkey see, monkey do. Everything is bigger and more spread out than it needs to be, wasting tons of unused screen space and requiring additional menus and scrolling that are not necessary. Everything feels bloated based on appearance. Many aspects of Windows 10 have been severely dumbed down, functionality reduced, things moved to obscure places without any real justification for it. It's all just a clunky, clumsy piece of trash OS and UWP filth makes it worse.
In general, I consider most of the UWP apps to be shareware garbage. Having the Digi-Nazis controlling the app development and using the Store for distribution makes me despise them even more. It all plays into the draconian control freak crap plans for PC, and it makes me hate them even more.
I am really displeased with essentially every aspect of the UWP app program. I have no use for their glorified smartphone software trash channel.alexhawker, Vasudev, 6730b and 2 others like this. -
Amen to that. Almost every point demands a little rep.
It's as if MS developers decided that users are happiest when they are using a computer, rather than using a computer to do things. There's a middle ground between straight command line and a kiosk designed to order food at a gas station and Win 8/10 isn't it.
I remember when I first saw the fancy Win 98 Plus! desktop themes, and thought... Jungle? Mystery? ... it's a mystery why they spend effort on all this fluff!

How many days was needed to find their own incompetence? From what I remebered, The last build hadn't known issues. Give me a breake from this mess.... " Micro$h¤ft changed web search several times since that initial release. The company removed the user interface setting to disable Cortana or web searching in the Anniversary Update which meant that users had to disable Web Search in Windows 10 this using policies or the Windows Registry."
Closing Words
While Microsoft might publish an update for Windows 10 version 1803 on day one to fix the issue, I don't think it is very likely that this is going to happen. Web search functionality has privacy implications as search terms need to be sent to Microsoft so that the company can return search suggestions.

People need to just say no to this trash OS. To hell with Micro$loth... those clowns are as worthless as tits on a boar, and so is the digital garbage they have on offer.
-
I disabled those things in NTLite so I never had any issue. I will suggest "If you don't use a feature don't enable them in the first place!"
Maybe the UI didn't feel displaced to me since I already use Who'knows phone(hahaaa). When you did mention waste of screen space is what made me think about that point. I agree with you, W10 is hella lot different from W95 till win 7. Maybe I lack the experience in seeing things. Those familiar with older Windows will feel w10 is a different OS altogether!
So, if we put aside UWP trash screen space wastage and other annoyance and invest or re-imagine it as fully functional Win32/Amd64 UI, will that change your perception? -

I am so sick of this darn OS to the point where when Apple releases the new MacBook Pro for 2018, if it was half as decent as my current laptop I am switching to McDonald's OS and learning how to use a computer all over again from scratch!

Doesn't matter. Please, don't defend their incompetence. Those things shall work as intended. When they change functionality several times, it will be messed up in the end. This is only a small part of the OS... But what with the rest if they continue as this?Vasudev likes this.

I reckon you'll switch to Win 10/7 using a Clevo lappie with Steelseries K/b and mouse.
I don't understand the logic behind Apple using Higher RAM capacities saying it will hinder battery life. You see even if the RAM is 4GB or 8GB it still consumes 1.35V and 1-2W on ddr4 RAM modules. So, its their way of saying People won't use 32GB RAM at all. If they want it they can buy iMac Pro or iMac.
I don't use web search in search bar at all. I was using it on w7 and now most browsers allow the search function in address bar itself.
I didn't know many people used that feature. -
It's quite amazing that Micro$h4ft has to launch a new OS build that has known not working feature when it's launched. Poor craftsmanship. This should have been discovered before. But so it is when they are dependent on the unpaid Guinea Pigs and do not have enough own paid competent people in their own ranks that can weed out these mistakes before it is too late. They have had 6 months on this mess, and the OS is build on same lines as what is out now. Same as start selling automobiles without brakes
Vasudev likes this. -
Hahaa automobiles is very good feature that lets you get max acceleration w/ 100% risk on your life. I think Agencies who test them are paid handsomely to keep their mouth shut and fill up their pockets and stomach.
I'll suggest them to release new OS every 2 years instead of every year Spring and Fall because people can prepare for migration easily. -
A fresh DL didn't help anything on my end. Uninstalling all the Xbox junk did however. I'm not sure what the heck happened to my install, but even their lousy Calculator won't launch anymore. I'm really starting to think that getting off my lazy ass and having to learn Linux can't possibly p-ss me off any more than continuing to use W10 (actually, I have played round with Solus. Seems to have potential. At the very least it's the first Linux build I've managed to get installed without having to dick around with my BIOS settings…)Vasudev, Papusan and Spartan@HIDevolution like this.
-
If you deleted VClib and .net framework for UWP mainly 1.6 and upwards you might run into issues.
-
All that junk is untouched. The only thing I've done recently was run the disk clean function of DISM++.
This is pretty typical of my experience with the latest versions of Win 10. It'll run great for a week or two, then s--t starts to fall apart for no obvious reason. Actually, that's a bit of a lie. I have been having one big annoyance with RS4 right from the start. It takes it's slow-ass time auto connecting to my WIFI networkVasudev and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
Me too sometimes I have to manually connect even as it won’t auto connect on startup -
Sounds like mine. If I let it sit for 5 minutes it'll eventually decide to connect on its own, but by then I've tried and failed to get online so I'll just do a manual connect.
Hopefully a patch will come down the pipeline and straighten these things out tomorrow, but I don't know if I'd hold my breath. I'm thinking I might give it one fresh reinstall once the official update (and patch) is released and see if things are running any better. If not it might just be time to switch to dual boot Linux and soundless Win 7 - yes even Win 7 with a non-functioning soundcard is sounding like a better alternative… -
I'd suggest handling Windows the same as I do my cars. I buy something that is good enough to get the job done without any fuss, fanfare or frustration after someone else has already worked all the kinks out of while it is depreciating as fast as a snow ball melts in Phoenix. Then I drive the snot out of it for +200K miles until it's so old and worn out that it is no longer worth the cost of normal maintenance before I get another one. It facilitates work and pleasure, but it's only the vehicle that takes me where I need to go. Remember when their slogan used to be "Where do you want to go today?" That was actually a fitting slogan back in the day. Now they want the Windows OS itself to be the destination, which is simply retarded.
Windows 10 reminds me of this "ice cream man" clip from the movie Legion. Not what we expect or want in an OS. Initial response is, " Ah, man, he don't look that bad..." but, then comes the utterance "Oh ----!" when the gaping jaws and knuckle-dragging freak shows them what a disgusting monster from the pits of hell he really is.
